I've been here twice now…read more My first class was in 2023. I found them on ClassPass and I took a Tuesday night Yin class with Carley. I was not impressed. The sequencing was odd and her commentary wasn't my style. At some point, she said something like, "think about... I don't know... the window" and I just couldn't let it go. lol. Like, just not for me. I took a Sculpt class today with Aaliyah. It was fine, at best. I've been fortunate enough to take similarly-formatted classes at other studios - big, small, local, national - and this one just missed the mark. Aaliyah did a GREAT job of letting you know what to expect, and coaching you through doing moves correctly. But dear god, the insanely long breaks between every. Single. Move. And. Each. Block. Threw me off! At one point, there was like an actual 2-3 minute break. I burned under 300 calories for an hour-long class which NEVER happens for me. I think part of the issue was that she was doing every move with us and was getting pretty tired herself. The pace wasn't consistent enough for me. But there were older and pregnant people in class so maybe that's the gentler version. I appreciate that there's a yoga offering in this location but the styles here aren't for me. Like, I didn't even need or want a savasana at the end and didn't have the same clarity I normally do. That said, if you want a class where you're not really pushed to your edge and you want a slower pack with more sculpting handholding, this place is great!

Amazing yoga sculpt (weighted yoga practice with some cardio and lots of toning). I particularly…read moreenjoy Adrienne and Trish who are equally encouraging and motivating. Great is instructions and meant for multiple experience levels. I'm a casual yoga goer and love this class.

My favorite thing about this studio is the location, right off of the Eastern Market metro stop…read more It's a small studio with one bathroom and a changing room. The classes are challenging and rewarding. The instructors are welcoming and technical. They go around to individuals, calling you by your name, and correcting your form. I have tried all 3 of their classes: Pure Barre Classic, Pure Reform (using resistance bungees and has similarities to pilates reformer) and Pure Empower (more cardio). All of them are great in their own way, and Pure Reform is the most challenging. It's definitely worth it to try the 3 class new client deal or through classpass (although Reform doesn't seem to be offered through classpass).

I attended an introduction to barre class on a Saturday at noon…read more Pros: The instructor was excellent!! Very friendly and very helpful. She also took the time to learn everyone's names The studio was clean and well maintained. Strong community feeling. Cons: The staff was a little pushy and "in your face" from the moment you walk through the door. Both before and after class. Now I did opt to receive more information later, so that I don't mind. But immediately before and following class it was a bit much. More of a turn off Street parking only, so prepare The lobby can be a bit hectic between classes with very little space to move around Overall the class was fun and a good low impact workout!! Although I would definitely consider joining, the price tag was a little steep in my opinion. But If it's something you love, it's worth it! And again this location seemed to have a good community.

I hadn't been going to a gym regularly in 7-8 years and that motivation brick wall was sky high. But after two weeks, I was hooked. I signed up for 8 classes a month using the healthcare worker discount. 8 months later, I decided to go unlimited classes because the 25% healthcare worker discount finally applied to that option too. The coaches are motivating and happy to see me when I come in. Navy Yard is one of only a handful that has 2 studios so there's that many more class options. I'm at 148 classes and every class is still challenging. I'm actually seeing a difference in my body and muscles which motivates me that much more. There's lockers, toiletries, hair dryers, and bathrooms. The app is easy to use. Because of where I live now, I go to a lot of different studios but Navy Yard will always be my favorite and original home studio.

My first class was with Chelsea and she was so great at correcting my form and giving me direction- I really appreciated all her tips and she made such a pleasant introduction to solidcore for me. The slow movements and body strength training left me sore, but wanting more. My lower back pain was relieved significantly after my first class and I decided to continue for the month. In the past 2 weeks, I have taken 6 classes, all targeting different parts of my body and making me question how strong I really was before, haha. I have taken the most classes with April C. and really love her coaching style. Today I went to a class taught by Izzie O. and she was fantastic. My abs and arms were really burning throughout the session and I could feel the soreness kicking in throughout the day. I'm happy to have found a new workout to add variety to my fitness routine. solidcore is the perfect place for you to challenge your body strength, flexibility, and posture.

If you are fatigued with every local yoga class catering to either beginners or acrobats, try this studio. That said, Haus definitely takes time for arm balances and headstands. They just do a slightly better job at integrating them into the class, rather than declaring: now, it is handstand time! They did not offer a studio tour. It appears that mats are free, no filtered water available, no showers, non cork yoga mats. You have to leave your shoes outside of the studio on the landing. Another DC studio priced to favor membership without offering a lot of classes. So one class is $25 (without promos or deals), but a monthly unlimited option is around $116/month with 2 weeks notice to cancel. A woman made a homophobic remark to a small group, including an instructor, on our way out of the studio. May not be an LGBTQIA friendly studio, may just be that woman really really wanting us to know she is not queer.

Trying out Pilates has been a desire for the better part of a decade, perhaps longer. After looking…read moreup options and asking around (and finding that there wasn't much for Vida Pilates here on Yelp) I decided to give a test run at Vida Pilates. After about 3 weeks with 2 classes a week, I am continuing and all the more excited for each class. DECIDING ON PRIVATE CLASSES / WHY VIDA: Knowing that Pilates is all about specialized movement and that form is important as well as little adjustments and refinements can improve the exercise and impact the results, I wanted to have a private instructor get me off on the right foot before going into group classes (Why be in a larger class and not know if what I'm doing is benefiting me the most -- I want to know that my time and investment is going as far as it can with the capability of my body. Having a dedicated Pilates instructor coach has given me this satisfaction.) I wanted the real deal Pilates before considering a blending of other things (there's documented research on Pilates but not much on the other things. Vida Pilates is Pilates, not "Pilates-inspired"). VIDA PILATES: Vida Pilates had a new client 3 private class special that I initially booked and have since booked a package of private classes. My Pilates instructor is Nina, who is fantastic. Before meeting, she asked me about my injury history and anything that would assist her. I told her about my health and fitness goals. With this she has been tailoring our sessions to meet my needs. Based on my feedback/desire, Nina has provided me with a couple of simple stretches to continue between classes. Since starting the private classes, I tested out the Vida gym with a Pilates mat class (again with Nina) and loved the challenge that provided too. You do not need to join the Vida gym to take the Pilates reformer classes (private or group). The Pilates mat classes are part of the gym membership (and with the day rate, currently $35). Nina also offers the mat classes privately and uses contemporary and classical Pilates in these classes. HOW TO BEGIN AFTER BOOKING: At this time, there is no information on the Vida Pilates or Vida gym websites how to schedule your private sessions, nothing in their FAQs, and no instructions provided after I booked the initial new client package. I called Vida, and they provided me with an email, and it was sorted out easily, but the process could use some improvement. There is a Vida Pilates app and a Vida gym app. I suggest downloading the Pilates app to show your booking at the front desk when you arrive. FUTURE: I can see myself getting into group classes in the future while also continuing with private classes. I enjoy and see the progress being made with Nina. I am excited for this Pilates journey!
