It's modern, gorgeous, clean. This place lives up the Equinox standard of luxury. The overall age group of the other members are on the younger end compared to Tyson's corner Equinox. It's equally as friendly but I would say more crowded for the hours I went. Three floors: - Bottom: Locker rooms, shower area - Entrance floor: a smoothie/quick eat bar on the right. Some couches and coffee tables - Top floor: fitness area with the classes Study area? There's a lounge ish area with tables but it's not an easy place to study if you're using a laptop. The coffee tables are knee height. A big portion of what I care about are aesthetics and parking. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have day long validated parking. I attended this location of Equinox as a guest of a current member, and I was impressed by the quality of the space and service. I get the hype now. I used cardio equipment, weights, and attended a restorative yoga class. The equipment was all in good shape and clean, and I love the instructor for the yoga class - it left me in a perfect mood in the middle of the workweek. The locker room was very clean, and the showers were spacious and stocked with Kiel's products. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, and while other reviews complain about it being too crowded, I had no issue accessing equipment at 7pm on a weekday. read more

I was lucky to have the opportunity to work out at Equinox during my stay in DC. My hotel was undergoing renovation and partnered with Equinox to allow guests to workout there. I was thoroughly impressed by the facilities. They were exceptionally CLEAN! I visited 3 days in a row and tried three different group fitness classes. The instructors were friendly and professional and the classes were RIGOROUS! As soon as class would end a clean up crew was there to sanitize equipment participants used. Amazing ! In addition, the locker room was fabulous. Featured Kiels products and so so clean. Maintenance was very present scrubbing down showers after each use. Completely turned off by my experience with the membership associate, Jacqueline, and manager, Brandon. They were discriminatory and disrespectful, and rude when I expressed concern about how I was treated. At the end of my tour, I asked about month-to-month options because I travel a lot for work and flexibility is important to me. Jacqueline informed me that they only offer annual contracts. She said, "Equinox is not for everyone, and it's not for people who believe their workout goals can be achieved in a month. You can consider gyms like Planet Fitness", asked if I had any questions and showed me the door. I've never been spoken to by a sales representative like that before. I was told, not asked, that Equinox wasn't the right fit for me simply for asking a question. I was shocked and thought it was disrespectful, condescending, and confusing. Why would asking about month-to-month options trigger such a response? It was clearly a dig and an assumption that I couldn't afford to pay and don't fit their brand of people that they want at the gym. I was told the $213 monthly rate via phone the day before and I still chose to come in. Clearly the price wasn't a dealbreaker for me. I spoke to Brandon afterwards about how off-putting that experience was and he said that he apologized if I felt disrespected but it's true that "equinox is not for everyone" and if my experience made me feel like it's not the right fit for me, he understands that choice. In other words, he stands by what was said and they do not care about losing me as a potential member. To be clear, my choice to find another gym will be 100% based on the treatment by the staff. It's a nice gym, I have friends there and I wanted to make it work, even with my schedule. In fact, I was referred to the gym by two friends, but if this is how they treat referrals, I can't even imagine how they treat other inquiries. I was a member at this location for over 2 years. I have nothing but positive experience overall. Before I signed up, they gave me a detailed tour and patiently answered my all never-ending questions. The membership & auto-payment set up was a breeze. They have generous free weight area, very clean floors/lockers/restrooms, new & good quality machines, awesome shampoo/body wash/moisturizer products, and had a satisfactory enforcement of mask requirement during the pandemic. I felt quite safe and enjoyed my workouts. Just so you know though, it can get busy/crowded during 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the weekdays. (Mostly from Monday to Wednesdays) Other than that, they also don't have a pool or basketball court like the one in Dupont Circle location. Anthem Row location is smaller comparing to Dupont Circle. Lastly, I think what I like most about this location is the overall quality of other gym members. I mean don't get me wrong, I've been to other gyms too, but at this location people are just doing their own thing, they don't come bother you, or push you around/rush you to finish your set quickly, or yell over your head and chat with their friends, or listen music loudly, etc. Other gym members I've had interacted with during my membership was always quite polite/well mannered folks. I joined Equinox believing I was joining a luxury gym. Joke's on me. The gym is PACKED all the time, especially at peak times. You cannot use the equipment, especially the equipment you prefer, but any equipment at all even if you're flexible (the free weights, squat rack, machines) which are all in use no matter what time of the day. Want to squat at 2pm on a Wednesday (work day)? Too bad for you, you'll have to wait in line. Want to come in at 7am or 6pm? There's not even enough room to walk around. Want to sign up for a class? Too bad the spots are all gone if you don't snipe it right when the sign up list opens. What makes it even worse is that I told management MONTHS ago about the problem, and they assured me the problem would be resolved, but they are still *extremely aggressively* recruiting new members to this day. The pictures attached were taken in February 2023 and it has only gotten worse since then. The gym used to be clean and tidy, but has started to get dirty and messy lately because of the ridiculous amount of members. On top of that, multiple personal items have been stolen out of the women's and men's locker room. One man had all his clothes and shoes stolen while he was in the shower. HIS CLOTHES. Management does nothing to address the theft. You might want to check out Planet Fitness that just opened down the street. There's much much more space and equipment to use there. I sincerely regret joining Equinox. The facilities are nice and well-maintained. But the overcrowding at virtually all hours of the day is completely out of control. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how nice or luxurious the gym is, or how many amenities there are, if you can't actually use any of the equipment because the gym is a mosh pit. (By the way, for nearly every piece of equipment, there is only one, so good luck racing the other members to get it when it becomes free--and don't blink!) Thankfully, I have a corporate membership, so I can cancel after three months, but I think their standard commitment is twelve months. I definitely wouldn't commit to that given how disparate the actual experience is from their marketing. read more

I've been going to Equinox for about a month now and this is easily a 5 star gym. Best in DC. Below is is my review breaking down by sections: Cleanliness - There is never a moment when someone isn't cleaning. I sat and watched in 5 mins 1 bench be washed/wiped down twice by two separate staff. This place is so clean you could literally eat off the gym floor. LOVE THIS! Management - In the month of being here we had only one issue with a person not knowing how to wear a mask properly and after speaking to the management the assistant general manager addressed the issue right away. Moreso I see him on the gym floor making sure everything is in order all the time when I workout. Staff - They're all just awesome. Plan and simple. Taieel makes the best protein shakes. I've tried every single shake on the board so far. Also one of the NICEST GUY EVER! There was one day I didn't stop to get a shake so he stopped me to make sure everything was alright. Equipment - So understand that they did pull some of the equipment off the floor to give each piece enough space to be socially distant. With that said there is still a large variety of equipment for everyone to have a good workout. Also there is an insane amount of cardio equipment. Atmosphere - Everyone here is about the workout not looking pretty on their phones. (two thumbs up) Price - About $200 a month.... WORTH IT!!! 01/07/2021- UPDATE to review. Equinox you are losing one star. This morning i went to the gym as soon as you opened to find one young lady manning the front desk by herself. I'm not saying that she isn't capable of protecting herself but after the events that happened last night there should have been a second person at the front desk. So after two months here the men's steam room is even worse now. It only turns on every 15 minutes, has steam in it for 5 minutes, and then it's empty and barely warm for ten minutes. It's like sitting in a shower stall. Brought this up with management and they just shrug. A large part of why I got this membership was for the steam room - I like to have a steam after I workout, and particularly after a stressful day at work. I specifically asked the membership associate, several times, if the steam room was working properly, to which they enthusiastically assured me it was. As that was obviously not true, I requested a refund on membership which was immediately denied. So now I'm stuck with a year-long membership at this "luxury" gym with a steam room that doesn't work, and management that is either unwilling or incapable of doing anything about it. If you're used to the luxury of the Equinox brand in NYC you're going to be sorely disappointed here. As will any serious weightlifter - two benches, three squat racks and one smith machine mean it's next to impossible to get a station at any time of day, particularly since the personal trainers - who outnumber regular patrons - tend to set up supersets and reserve equipment for one another. Design is not functional - no water fountains in locker rooms, nowhere to set things down in locker rooms, and shower doors that don't close all the way. Locker room attendants who are omnipresent... and yet the locker rooms are always dingy. The gym is tiny, crowded, and often dirty. For $300 a month, you'd be better off joining planet fitness and setting $280 on fire. read more

cutting/consolidating even more classes since COVID. the spin studio bikes are just a few inches apart so it's pretty gross when the classes are full. most recently just cut a Sat morning class (consolidated it w/ later class that is usually 80%-90% full already. with dues close to $200/month it's hard to justify this customer experience. have been a member since it opened and the staff is very nice! love the gym, but whoever is making this strategy for reduced classes that need to be 100% full (similar to awful airline strategy we've all experienced) needs to consider customer experience more. hope they change this. having morning classes on weekend is important. read more

I'm a equinox member at the Tysons Corner Location. I love everything about it including the staff. So when I decided to upgrade my membership it was a no-brainer to add Anthem to the list since I spend half of my time in DC and it's newly built in the city. I called ahead to schedule a visit with a rep. Ean took my call and assured me I would be added to the guest-list. Along with 2:30pm being okay. I showed up to the front desk and my name wasn't on the list. The front desk rep offered me a seat while she went to get Ean, who's office is front in centered with see through glass. I could see him gesture her away. I sat there and waited, 10 minutes goes by then a lady comes over by the name Jessica to show me a tour. He pushed me off onto her. No hello or reasoning. She only gave me a 5 minute tour of the gym and walked me back to the front desk to exit. I asked, as she Shook my hand, "Where's the spa?" She said, "Oh, it's downstairs." I was so confused. It was like she was rushing me out. Nothing else was showed in the tour. Not the spa, bathroom, showers, steam room, info about training, swimming pool, sauna, (if there is one), nothing about the amenities, prices to upgrade, how long the gym is open, classes offered, etc. The experience here is like going to a 24 hour fitness or regular golds gym. People don't pay $180 and up to be treated in such a way. The membership reps are nothing like the Tyson Corner location or New York one. Nothing like what the brand is about. read more

This place is definitely where the "elite of DC" workout. Before grabbing you gym gear and rushing to sign up with your local Equinox Membership Advisor, there are a few things to know. Members pay $200 to $300 initiation fees and $160 to $250 monthly rates. Now while all this sounds pretty pricey, Equinox is usually having an offer that waives the initiation fee. And the monthly rate includes some great gym amenities, which include classes taught by former Olympians and even spa treatments. Based on your membership level it does come with some other perks such as having access to over 300 Equinox locations, some have pools and hot tubs, while others have steam rooms and saunas. Some even have basketball and squash courts. Members use an app to check in, book a class, schedule training, and search for clubs. Some gyms allow you to sign up 26 hours in advance online, while others offer walk-in only classes. Once you have signed up for a class you are assigned a number so that the staff can keep track of who is supposed to be in class, no sneaking in here! All the equipment is state-of-the-art so you never have to worry about not being able to track your workouts. And some of the equipment is compatible with the Equinox app. The atmosphere was a little pretentious. Not everyone gives off this energy but you definitely notice it. There were a lot of men in their 30's, while the women were mostly either in their 20's or upper 50's. I wondered where the trendy moms were, but they must all be at SoulCycle. And yes, everyone is beautiful or at least a good portion of them are. The instructors were enthusiastic and motivating, with a few trainers walking around giving tips of good form or encouragement. The spa while a great amenity, will cost you more money. Members pay extra for spa benefits, which nonmembers can access as well. Some of the packages include facials, manicures, massages, waxings, teeth-whitening, eyelash extensions, and microdermabrasions. Most locations offer some type of smoothie or snack bar. They have organic selections such as smoothies, salads, granola bars, and hot meals. You'll have to pay for these items too, and they're not cheap -- but will definitely be worth the price after a great workout. Scattered all over the gym are mini fridges filled with ice-cold, eucalyptus-infused face towels. This gym is definitely worth the money if you can afford it. It's luxurious. It's motivating. Well, my experience with Anthem Row is that Equinox seems to simply be unparalleled if fitness is your passion. A part of me almost wants to say that there are gyms, and then there is Equinox! Needless to say, I am very impressed with the facilities, and the quality fitness-focused culture. The facilities are well designed. The design, the lighting, and the vibe create a welcoming, open, and energizing environment. This particular location is very minimalist, clean, and bright. I also love the wood accents. It not only brings a little nature indoors, but also gives the space a certain level of organic understated elegance. As for the classes... I've always avoided HIIT classes in the past. At Anthem Row I can't seem to get enough of them. They're so well done! I'm also learning that a 45 min class is a refreshing alternative to the 60 min format. Having said that, you really have to get used to the faster pace, and it might take a few session to do that. read more

I am obsessed with this gym. The facilities are great but more importantly, the coaches for all the classes are amazing. They remember your name and after several classes they'll recognize what your capabilities are and push you like it's a semi private class. The eucalyptus towels are also a great perk. Yes it is more expensive than a generic gym but I also think the facilities and coaches are head and shoulders over a generic gym so totally worth it. My favorite classes are Ali's yoga sculpt, Alex's vinyasa, Stephen's barre, Elizabeth's best butt and best abs, and anything with Timbo. read more

This is my favorite equinox in the area! There's definitely a more energetic/hardcore vibe in the studio classes at this location vs others. I love it! I walk an extra mile to go to this location when I can! It's also only a few years old so the equipment and space is super clean and new! I only wish that they had more classes around 8am or 9am so I don't have to wake up so early on my days off work to make a class! I usually walk but on rainy days it's nice knowing there's a garage nearby that they validate your parking ticket for $5! read more

Hands down the best gym in the DC area. First day at Equinox Anthem Row was today - I've been in the DC area for about 10 years and have been a member of VIDA, YMCA, Mint, and other gyms. We haven't really had many full-service gyms that are clean, have new machines, multiple squat racks, and awesome classes. Equinox Anthem Row has all that and more - the lockers, showers, and other facilities are high-grade -- they've invested in top of the line finishing and it shows. Also, the staff/employees seem very friendly and open to chatting. I joined equinox when it opened and have not been disappointed! I haven't taken any of the classes yet, but the equipment is new and relatively comprehensive. It would be nice though if they an extra ab roller and a theragun. This is more of a "club" feel than a gym in that most of the space is not dedicated to workout equipment. The first floor is the reception/lounge/cafe/store area. The second floor is the fitness space. The basement level has a coat check and changing room/bathrooms. The changing rooms are great. They're spacious and have plenty of locker space. Oh and Kiehls products are definitely a perk! The only down side is that Equinox raises rates annually on average of $5-$10. I can imagine this adding up over the years. They should really have membership tiers with perks if they're going to raise the prices. read more

Well, things are looking up. The kickboxing classes are a bit more technical than I expected, which is a good thing, but not quite what you'll find at a gym dedicated to the sport. The wood floors are less of a bother than I thought they'd be but the heavy bag situation leaves much to be desired; they're too small...I'm 6' and my punches land near the top of the bag where there isn't much filling, which is concentrated where my kicks land so I'm basically punching a pillow and kicking a tree trunk. I signed up for Equinox as a founding member and was initially hesitant as I had heard of the expensive price tag. I can now say that it is worth every penny. From the frozen eucalyptus towels throughout the gym to the luxurious locker rooms equipped with Kiehl's products and a steam room, to the spa with one of the best massages I've received to date, I simply love being a part of this gym. I look forward to my workout every morning, knowing I don't need to bring a hair straightener or face moisturizer or even makeup removing wipes. The classes are also fantastic. I mostly enjoy the spin classes, especially the Anthem class, but the boxing classes are also amazing (if you can manage to get into one). Unfortunately the boxing studio is tiny, so the classes book quickly. I've also taken barre classes which were surprisingly challenging after coming from Bar Method. I really like Equinox - Anthem Row. The gym is clean. The design is excellent. The equipment is new. Most of the gym staff is very helpful. Like other's have stated, it is busy but you're never really waiting on equipment. The reason for the 1 star review is the parking. There is a deck and you receive a "discount" with validation. $5 per 2.5 hours. I paid over $16 on the day I signed my membership agreement. Parking is really important to me and I asked about it several times. Sales reps failed to adequately address this because they use the metro. The parking staff, employees of a separate company from Equinox, are the worst in DC. Terrible. To be DC's premier gym, to charge a premium for membership, and to have access to garage next door, Equinox should have planned for better parking. Excellent gym if you live, work, and workout on the metro. Cannot recommend if you need access to parking. In addition to you $200/mo membership fee, expect an additional $100/mo in parking fees. read more
