Came one last time before they closed it was packed. I got the combo plate with shrimp and pork, double Mac salad as my side. It was good and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to support this business over the years.

Since moving here from Hawaii, I've been on the hunt for Hawaiian BBQ comfort food and I can safely say Solid Grindz is SOLID. This is the place to go!! We've tried almost everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed us so far. The portions are generous, the flavors are authentic, and the mac salad is excellent. Kalbi is a must every time!!

I have to say as someone that is absolutely obsessed with Hawaiian food, this meal was pretty sad :(. I had high hopes from a referral. Categories down below. Food: This meal was pretty soggy/tuff. Hard to explain but it didn't taste good and quite frankly I couldn't finish the meal as it didn't have much flavor as I continued to eat more of it. Temperature: The food was relatively luke warm, which again was pretty weird since most meals of this caliber come out hot and crunchy and none of that existed. Atmosphere: Felt warm and inviting and the staff were nice, so no complaints at all. Value: Expensive in my opinion and not a lot of quantity as you can see in the picture. Definitely can get more food elsewhere for the price you pay here in comparison to other foods in the same category. Recommendation: I may have to try this place again some time but it's hard for me to say it's a good option. if your in the mood for Hawaiian food, right now I'd say try it out at your own risk.

kalbi, shrimp, mac salad and beans. YUM

I love most things Hawaiian and was very excited to learn about Solid Grindz when I moved here two years ago. I tried the big kalbi and bang shrimp plate. The kalbi was overcooked, but that shrimp was delicious - crispy, creamy, a little sweet. The mac salad was spot on with the creaminess and seasonings - not soupy or anything! I didn't know what to expect with the beans, but they had the standard bacon/smoked flavor; I paired this with my kalbi and rice and it was almost the perfect bite, maybe I could have used a little bit of kimchi, but it's not like I didn't enjoy my lunch. SG is located very close to the Air Force base and it gets packed fast. The parking lot is a complete cluster, and small, so be careful when you pull in, there's just a bit of wiggle room. The dining room is small/medium sized due to its location in a tiny strip mall. Orders get cooked fast, so you're not waiting too long whether you're dining in or take-out.

I finally decided to try this local Hawaiian dishes andI was very pleasantly surprised. I got the two meat plate, with grilled teriyaki chicken & shredded pork. The white rice and steamed veggies were good. I'm so happy I finally decided to take the chance on Solid Grindz and it was very much worth it! Food portion to price value was worth it. My meal definitely got me full.

Great food every time. Love the short ribs. This is one of my go to places when I'm in town. Just have to keep up with where they are.

Best Hawaiian food in Tucson hands down! So thankful that they have a food truck in downtown now so I don't have to drive 45 minutes.

If you haven't tried a true Hawaiian plate lunch yet, you're missing out -- and this is the place…read moreto start. L&L Plate Lunch Hawaiian BBQ absolutely delivers the real deal. The owner is from Hawaii, and you can taste that authenticity in the food and the way the place is run. The BBQ chicken is amazing -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for when you're craving a legit plate lunch. Portions are generous, everything tastes fresh, and the sides hit the mark like they should. The restaurant itself is very clean, and the staff are genuinely polite and welcoming, which adds a lot to the overall experience. Having lived in Hawaii most of my life, I'm a bit of an expert when it comes to plate lunch. A lot of mainland spots are really just Chinese kitchens posing as Hawaiian food -- but not this one. This is the most authentic Hawaiian plate lunch I've had on the mainland. If you've never tried a plate lunch before, give this place a shot -- you won't be disappointed.

I chose this place because I was in the area and wanted a restaurant in the Dine Rewards program. I…read morewalked in, there were two men sitting eating their lunch. I waited for about 5 minutes at the counter. I called the place, no answer. I asked the men and one of them knocked on the counter and the owner (I assume) came in and apologized for not hearing me. I ordered the BBQ mix, which was BBQ chicken, Teriyaki beef and Kalbi (short ribs). It came with rice & macaroni salad and a drink. I paid at the counter, sat down and waited for my food. The owner/manager was very pleasant and tried to please. My food was brought to my table and here's where I get a little pissy. I hate styrofoam containers and plastic utensils. One of the reasons I don't do takeout. If I am going to dine-in, there needs to be real plates and utensils. The Kalbi was very tough and I couldn't cut it with my plastic knife at all. I had to pick it up with my fingers. The slice of beef was pretty good, but still had a hard time cutting it with the utensils provided. The BBQ chicken was tasty but a couple spots were almost burnt. It was tender enough to cut with the utensils. The rice was bland, it needed salt and something else. The macaroni salad was okay. There was a nice clean dining room with comfortable chairs, so why the crappy styrofoam containers that takeout goes in? If I had known that, I would have turned around and walked out. I ordered a drink. There was unsweet oolong tea and when I served it in the cup, black tea leaves came out into the drink. I had to move my straw around so I didn't suck the leaves down my throat. Price was high, given the way it was served. If I had dishes and regular utensils, I would say it was okay and typical of restaurants these days. However, you order at the counter, pay and are expected to tip (what for?), pour your own drinks, fight utensils and styrofoam, clean up your table. For this "dining in" experience, it was way over-priced. $3 for drink, $22 for main dish, can't do anything for sales tax and included a 15% tip. Total experience = $31.38. Maybe that explained the very little traffic in this restaurant. I want to reiterate, the owner was extremely nice and I could tell she wanted to make sure I was happy, but in my opinion, things need to change before it will be successful.

This was our first time here and we had an excellent lunch on a Friday afternoon. It started with an employee, Savannah who greeted us when we came inside with a warm welcome and discussed at length of every product they had. It seemed like she spoke in detail about everything for over 10 minutes. It was surprising to me that we had superior service at an establishment that I would consider fast casual than many of the finer dining options in Tucson and the surrounding areas. I do not know how much Savannah earns, but her professionalism would make one think she is the owner (she is not as I asked), but she is well deserving of a raise! Customers have the option of ordering everything on a touchscreen (kiosk). We ordered the Big - Mixed Molokai Luau Pork, Rice, and Mac plate; the luau Pork, Rice, and Mac plate; and the Molokai Mac Wrap Honolulu with pineapple. Everything was flavorful and the place was extremely clean including their restrooms. They have a solid business going based on my observation as there is a hospital close by. I highly recommend giving them a try!

There was a person inside helping with the kiosks if needed as well as making sure people could pick up the correct order. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining how it all worked and what to expect. The food had a good quantity and good prices t for the quality. It arrived quickly even with how busy it was. We got the chicken tha was like a teriyaki style and the spicy version. Both tasted great! The spicy definitely had a strong heat to it, so if you do not like heat it is not the option for you. We loved that we could get vegetables and pineapple instead of the rice or macaroni options. They also had spam options for people looking for that aspect of Hawaiian cuisine. Things were a little salty but otherwise everything tasted great and was very filling. We both had food for another meal with the large meals. Well worth it. The Dole whip is a great memory for us, the Tiki room at Disneyland and getting Dole whip as kids. Since it is non-dairy and no added sugar it was a great desert for us. Our only desire was that it would be closer to us so we could go more often.

Zero guilt eating here it's fresh, filling, and somehow still feels like a "good decision" meal. And let's talk portions... these bowls are massive. Easily shareable if you're trying to be budget-conscious, but fair warning, you probably won't want to share. This time we ordered the Jimmy's Bowl, we skipped the pineapple, but everything else? Incredible. The spicy salmon and tuna were insanely fresh, the kind where you can actually taste the quality. It just melts in your mouth. Every layer adds something: crisp cucumber, jalapeños, green onions, crispy onions, chili, avocado... it's like a perfectly built flavor stack. I also got the Munson gyro with greens (I went with romaine) and extra tzatziki and wow. Between the feta, the freshness, and that sauce, it hit every note. Pro tip: order an extra pita. I did, and turned it into two meals without even trying. Don't sleep on this spot!

I loved the Philly pita and I also love doing a poke bowl with salmon, tuna, rice and greens. With so many toppings to choose from and other good stuff it's the best. Also the breakfast items here are also delicious as they're also fresh and cooked to perfection. No complaints from me and always leave a generous tip here. Also this is a good place for club fundraisers too.
