We had a great experience working with Julian and the Solartech team here on Oahu. From the start Julian didn't come across as a typical sales rep at all -- he felt more like a knowledgeable industry expert who offered thoughtful, objective opinions about different technologies and brands. Before meeting him, I spoke with two other solar companies. One rep came on extremely strong and the meeting felt very sales-driven and impersonal, which made it hard to trust the information being presented. The other rep seemed to still be in training and had to run nearly every question through a senior colleague. Working with Julian was a relief. He's clearly experienced and communicates in a smart, casual, and very approachable way. We also had a great experience with Jelly and Brandi from the Solartech administrative team--they were easy to work with and helped keep everything moving smoothly. Solartech's digital quote platform made comparing options and selecting our plan simple and easy to understand. We ultimately decided against Tesla batteries after learning about potential overheating issues, which can be a concern in a place as hot as Hawaii. We went with Enphase we're happy with our choice. The installation team was excellent as well. Nainoa, the lead electrician on our project, is a total pro--easy to talk to, great at problem-solving, and he helped us quickly figure out a battery placement challenge. He completed the electrical work in just a few hours. During the panel installation, the crew accidentally drilled through part of our roof which caused a small leak, but they responded immediately and repaired it right away. Everything was patched up and looks good as new. We really appreciated how quickly they addressed the situation. Post-purchase support has been just as strong. I had some questions about how our system was pulling power from the grid, and Julian took the time to explain everything. It turned out to be more of a settings preference than an issue. He followed up with helpful explainer videos and even called a week later to make sure everything made sense. SolarTech installed 23 panels and a Generac inverter and batteries on my home almost 5 years ago. The long and short of it is that the Generac system has had its problems. This is one of the reasons the company has moved away from it over time. So what does this mean for you as a consumer using SolarTech? Initially we had a significant issue on installation. A new tech messed up the hookup and put 240 into the house and blew out a number of our appliances. This was dealt with in a professional manner once the company's shock of such an egregious mistake wore off. When they were dealing with Generac their response was quick but only when I brought issues to their attention. It is critical for solar owners to monitor their system. Companies only get flagged for serious issues. Even when they no longer installed or dealt with Generac they were responsive to my concerns and helped me address the issues I had. Overall I would highly recommend SolarTech. Hopefully the state and federal subsidies will continue so that they are busy. Which, can be frustrating for new consumers but rest assured they will respond to you and give you the attention you deserve. I have recently had my batteries replaced because of cell balancing issues. This still needs to be rectified due to installation issues. My gut tells me if this was in the hands of SolarTech the problem would not have lingered. Overall I recommend. Note that it is hard to comment on value as there were state and federal subsidies when I had my system installed. read more

Absolutely thrilled with my recent solar panel and battery installation by SolarTech! From start to finish, the process was seamless. The team was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain every step, ensuring I felt confident in my choices. After getting quotes from several companies on Oahu, I chose to go with SolarTech since a couple of co-workers recommended them ah they did business with this company. Julian R. was my sales associate, and he held a lengthy professional presentation/meeting with my family and myself and answered every question I had. He gave me an up-front proposal with full cost, savings and ROI. He also gave me multiple options for several different brands of panels and battery systems and six different price ranges from low to high. I was never pressured into any specific brand or system. Also, I felt Julian R. of SolarTech was the most personable sales associate of all the companies I was looking at, for example he didn't just take look at our electric bill, he asked what are our needs, what appliances we run, what will we run, what did we want to get out of the battery system, and what kind of uptime do we expect to have. I signed the contract on September 4 and as soon as the building permit posted just yesterday, and the job was completed today. (project scheduler) answered every call and question. Even during the install all the technicians and electricians were super personable and friendly, they talked story with me and answered any questions I had. Ikaika (electrician) even offered to pick up our dog's "poo". Lane one of the teams technician was experienced and took the time to scope and plan everything out. SolarTech doesn't mess around there was about 15 guys here on the job and they treated my house and property like it was their own. I appreciate that. The particular system I chose was a 20kw system Meyer-Burger panels with an Enphase battery system. I chose Enphase over all other brands mainly Tesla because #1 the Warranty of 15 years instead of 10 on other systems. #2 the support for Enphase because my last system was Tesla solar panels and I can't give Tesla support any positive marks. When my Tesla system broke it took multiple calls over an hour to get someone on the line to actually talk to. They pass you from machine to machine and it took over 2 weeks to get a replacement inverter when it failed once. I dreaded calling their support line. #3 Enphase's multiple redundancies compared to other brands single system and built-in inverter. #4 the Enphase system unlike Tesla's, is split into smaller Battery Banks and each bank has 4 inverters for High Availability. Lastly the panels, I was going with Maxeon panels but I felt that the better bang for buck was with Meyer-Bergers, plus the promotional discount SolarTech offered was the way to go. I have a piece of mind now knowing that I am not reliant on HECO's service as much and won't have to worry during those terrible frequent outages. It feels great to contribute to a greener planet while enjoying the financial benefits. Highly recommend this SolarTech's service to anyone considering solar energy! I wasn't looking for another company or system but gave in after being cold contacted and getting sold on it. In the end, the service, the price, the process, and the communication were not up to my expectations or what I had been promised during the sales appointment and in response to the times I complained. I'm not usually a complainer. Without going into detail, I had a very bad experience with this firm after working with 2 other really good solar companies in the past. Since our installation was on Hawaii Island, SolarTech subcontracted the installation to a Hilo company. The subcontractor had difficulty scheduling our installation and then had issues completing the installation. It took forever, and there were multiple changes in days/times and very very poor communication (ie-not returning phone calls) from the subcontractor, who we either had to chase down or have SolarTech chase down. The contract was signed on April 15, 2024. The subcontractor did not submit our permits until Jan 2025. We are still waiting for the permits- today is March 12, 2025. No Can! read more

Professional from start to finish. Shoutout to Kirby, "you're the man"! Raise your hand if the company you had previously install your solar is now out of business. Stuff happens, so started calling for estimates and suggestions as to what our current needs are. Our household has diminished in size from seven to four people so what we originally had is now overkill for water heating needs. Not sure we're interested in having excess electricity being generated, maybe storage maybe not. What are our options? Here's where having a great salesperson like Kirby makes your experience go from so-so to stellar. Every salesman looked at what we had, looked at usage, estimated PV panels and quoted prices. Kirby asked questions. Questioned the electric bill, the number of people, the times we are showering.....questions. Because our system is 12 years old and not as efficient as current heaters and solar panels he recommended we take a step back, replace the 100 gal capacity tank with a smaller unit and new panels on the roof. Then monitor the electric bill and move forward with PV as needed. Great plan, step one is completed. The installation team was here at 8:00, on time and prepared to work. Panels removed, tanks (yes two) removed, new copper piping as needed, new water heater tank (just one), clean up and all replaced equipment taken away. The team was gone at 1:00. Kirby came by the next day as scheduled and gave everyone instructions on what to do, when to do it, settings, timers and everything else we had questions on. He also advised when we get our first full month of usage to call him and we can go over the PV options. Very impressed! Will update as we progress in the next couple of months. Wow. But their rep Mike did a good job to make up for that lapse, sending some guys out to my house in a couple hours which was appreciated. We got a great bid from SolarTech for solar panels and batteries and decided to move forward with them. They did the site inspections and then they told us they were getting ready to apply for permits. Three months later they came back to us and gave us a garbage answer about why they were cancelling our project. They said that because we are in a flood zone there would be problems passing the final inspection. Well, we went with another company who completed the full install in the same amount of time it took SolarTech to decide they didn't want to do our project and we just passed the final inspection with no problem. I'm not sure why they didn't want to do our project but it was irritating that they wasted our time for 3 months unnecessarily. read more

We bought our home back in 2015, and the previous owners had installed PV with another company. We initially had good service from this company but later had issues with communication and service. I found SolarTech Industries on Yelp and I am very, very pleased that I did. From my first contact with Mike it's been nothing but excellent service. I've had several microinverters replaced by SolarTech and during the most recent service, the tech noticed that the hanger bolts for the PV were not properly sealed. After some investigating it was discovered that the original PV installers did not properly seal the hanger bolts. Karli Tanuvasa (not sure when she started with the company but she's awesome!) emailed me with a quote that included cleaning of my PV and solar water panels, and replacement of one microinverter that went down. I informed Karli that I would discuss it with the boss and get back to her. Long story short, while we decided if we should go ahead with the fix, we got an update that a total of three microinverters went down. Karli honored the original quote and didn't charge us for the replacement of the two additional microinverters! Trust me on this, if you have any PV issues give Mike or Karli a call, you won't be disappointed! read more
