Ok, I know a lot of solar companies are out there. Normally being the research heavy person I am, I would be looking at multiple companies before making a decision Not so with PV for us. After our first interaction, two years ago, with Mike, Ben and the team at Eco-Solar, it wasn't even a question in the minds of my wife and I. We would go with them again. The sales, service and install were service oriented, fair in price and quicker than Speedy Gonzales and the Road Runner. They helped appropriately size my need of additional panels for our new EV and growing family. Price was fair and moved pretty quickly through the process The only delay we had was for them to figure out how to best connect the new panels with our older install. They kept me in the loop and made it all possible to get things done quickly, efficiently and superbly The install team of Mo, Gavin and Kelii have been great to work with. They are polite, hard working, and were able to answer all my questions. I'm staring out my window as they are getting everything finished and eagerly waiting to see my electric bill evaporate. Thanks guys and hoping to do business with you again in the future

They very unreliable company most stressful I ever investment I ever made. Eco solar installed me 18 Samsung panels $1350 per panel total $23500 comes 20 years warranty. The following year panels started dying one by one eco solar refused to replace them saying Samsung no longer makes panel, so far I have replaced 11 panels with my o n moneys. When heavy rain comes my roof underneath the panels leaks eco solar came did some patches but another heavy rain came and leaks still there same exact location i felt that eco solar is very unwilling so I bought some gallons Henry patches from Home Depot remove 4 panels where I suspected leaking, I cleaned the area thoroughly i patches the area so far so good roof is ugly good thing is covered by the panels. Btw my panels still under warranty to this day so I reached out to eco solar maybe things changed but instead eco solar John Osaki emailed me to look for another solar company to replace my panels on my own expense what an insult

Truly an awesome company! I don't know why it took me so long to find these guys but I'm sure glad I did. I needed a company that would remove and replace my leased SunRun PV system so that I could reroof and I also wanted to add an additional PV system on the side. After contacting more than a handful of other local solar companies all I got was the run around with non responsive and overly expensive BS which was a total waste of my time. Finally, I found Michael at Eco Solar. He is incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and quoted me a price I was more than happy with. He and the Eco Solar team took care of everything for me from permits, to seamlessly working with SunRun, Heco, and my roofing contractor to ensure everything went smoothly. The install team, Gavin, Mo, and Keli'i arrived on time and worked quickly. They did an excellent job. Eco Solar is punctual, clean, providing top notch service at beyond a fair price.

Absolutely awesome service! Our family set up a meeting with Michael F. About a month ago and he was able to lay out exactly the costs, tax incentives, how much we would save, etc. I dragged my feet for a few weeks, until finally deciding our family should definitely get our solar done. I called Mike to tell him we were ready and this is how it went... Signed the contract and submitted my permit application that day. Next day, RECEIVED our permit (you read that right, one day for a permit). Following day, FULLY INSTALLED our solar with our Tesla batteries. If you're keeping track, that's 3 DAYS, not weeks or months, of installing our solar. The communication is top notch also. Team was great, even making sure aesthetics were important in the install. Michael will even meet with you to go over the app and all its uses to make sure to get the most out of the system. Highly recommend this company.

I reached out to Eco Solar after reading reviews and randomly hearing about their service and pricing from a mutual acquantance. Michael responded within hours of my inquiry and reached out to schedule a meeting at my residence. At our first meeting he had already researched the community energy trends, the weather patterns, and the history of the home. He quoted me based on our home dynamics along with his research findings. Michael laid out the timelines, requirements, costs, and contacts. I had to do some myself (we didn't have a plot diagram so I needed to pick one up from county). I decided to finance the system and install, also an option Eco Solar had recommendations for (no payments or interest for 18 months; awesome since we will receive a massive tax credit so we can pay on less than half the quoted price when the time comes). The entire process took several weeks but Michael and his team kept me informed at every checkpoint and responded immediately when I had questions. The install team took 3-4 hours for the PV panels and battery install and left a clean, professional looking product (see pics). Eco Solar has my full recommendation for anyone who is in the solar energy market. Ask for Michael, you'll get a home grown, no nonsense, professional consultation.

From my initial contact with the solar designer, Kirby Mack until present, my experience working with Sun Power has been nothing but awesome. Even after my PV solar system was installed, Kirby helped me understand everything PV solar and especially with HECO's Customer-Grid Supply (CGS) program and the Smart Export (SE) program. I first contacted Kirby back in October 2022 and he went over everything from HECO billing, permitting, pricing for the PV solar system, the design and the installation of the entire system, and the Tesla app for the Powerwall. The building permit took seven months for approval which I believe should've been sooner, but it's the Honolulu C&C. Enough said. On the day of the installation, the full Sun Power crew was present and they only took three hours to complete the installation. They had to shut off the power for about 30 minutes but once they turned it back on, the entire PV solar system was up and running. The crew cleaned up all the debris once they were done, took some photos of their work, then left a little before 11am. Kirby was on it after the installation was completed. He followed up with me even while he was going through personal issues involving his health. I asked Kirby for some aerial photos of the solar panels and he came by 2 weeks later and took a couple photos with his drone. The operations supervisor, Coleen Murphy emailed me the photos of the panels the crew had taken and they look awesome! Kirby even gifted my family and I with an electric burner to use during a storm instead of using my kitchen range/stovetop and avoid draining out the Tesla Powerwall completely. If you're going to install a PV solar system, I recommend working with Sun Power. Kirby, you the man! Thank you for everything! I saved a lot money! I love seeing my HECO bill under $100!

Yep, it was time to step up to a Photovoltaic system for our house in Halawa Heights. We had already replaced the Solar panels for the hot water and Kirby said when we were ready to go total PV to let him know....Hi Kirby, we're ready! The house was measured and we decided we wanted the panels installed on the carport rather than the house roof. The area gets sun all day so it was decided 30 panels would be needed and there was more than enough space for it to work. The roof was recovered with fabric and coated three times with a high grade reflective coating. Panels went up several days later. As you can see from the attached photos they did a great job and we're now the proud owners of a new PV system. Goodby Hawn Elec. This company was professional from start to finish. The installers were polite, fairly quiet and cleaned away all the rubbish. Highly recommend you give them a call if you're even thinking about it. Kirby will give you everything you need to help you.

After getting over $800 per month electric bills we had to get solar (and we're only a family of 3). When we finally decided make the commitment and got our system installed in January 2024, we are so glad we did it. Michael French was thorough and personable. Eco Solar was able to install our residential system within a day. Michael has done a few follow ups just to check in with us. After 6 months of using the system. Our monthly bill now much more reasonable normally less than $150 a month so far.. and the savings we can apply to our solar loan.

South-facing install for maximum solar hours!

I've…read moreused them for many jobs and meant to write praise for them, but it took some frustrating experiences to get me to post this one. Let me start with the praise that is well-deserved: 1) Solar panels and battery storage. My parents used them first, and Alternate Energy briefly monitored their solar panel production to find that one panel was not producing as well as the others - something my parents wouldn't have noticed. Fixed. Leeland was an amazing point of contact for us when we then added solar and batteries to our home. He sized it based on our current usage and didn't fuss when we asked to go bigger, knowing our usage would increase. During the pandemic we contacted Leeland again to ask about maxing out solar panels on our roof and adding another battery to our home - again, all done quickly, and done well. 2) Electric vehicle charger installation. We had one EVSE installed during the solar panel job, done for a very fair price (even by mainland standards). We later asked to have a second EV charger installed. This one had an issue in that it didn't show up in our Tesla's energy tracking. Trevor was amazing for contact and coordination (for this and other projects) - he noted that the technicians who had done the job were newer, and he got it working quickly. He also noted that they had installed the wrong kind of electrical outlet, as they had used an indoor outlet (although with a cover). He swapped it out for an outdoor outlet and fixed some minor damage that had occurred during the installation, all at no extra charge. I appreciated his thoroughness! 3) Solar water heater maintenance. Simple and fine. 4) Home ethernet wiring. This one isn't listed as a service that they do, but their electricians took the job and did an absolutely amazing job of adding ethernet to my rooms based exactly on what I asked for, and to the outdoors for security cameras. They mounted the cameras (I handled the angling) and even tried to fix a cover for one of my air conditioners that keeps sliding down. The cost of this work was significantly less than a "low voltage" installer had quoted. 5) Air conditioning repair. One of my AC units began to struggle, and the technician identified that the condenser unit would need to be replaced. We had some scheduling delays for this one, and I have to give a shout-out to Ginger on the phones and by email, who was empathetic, responsive, and incredibly helpful. After the job was done I noticed a water leak; I tried to trouble-shoot it on my own and eventually determined that the water was coming from behind the unit. The technicians came out, identified that they hadn't fully secured the insulation, and even tried to scrub away some of the water stains on my wall. If you're keeping track, that's a lot of jobs, and while two of them weren't all 100% perfect, the company ultimately identified the issues and made them right. So why the negative? It has to do with the billing. 1) For the ethernet job, we had discussed the quote and then noted in advance that if the job took longer than expected there could be a cost increase. A complication did occur, causing delay. I had received one bill at the start to pay a portion of the job before it started (which is standard), and then the second bill at the job completion seemed to include the added time. However, I was later told that I still had to pay the rest of the first bill. That would mean that the cost overrun was over 50% of what was quoted. It took multiple calls over multiple weeks to get this one resolved. The company ultimately cleared it and said that everything was paid, but that was a lot of time and stress. 2) The air conditioning repair job in which they had to return to fix the insulation and admitted to it being their error? I agreed to pay a service fee, and was given a positive response when I asked if the fee could either be reduced or waived if it was found to be related to the original job. The technicians usually leave a receipt of the work done before the final bill is sent to us, but we didn't get that, nor did we get a final bill to pay. We assumed that they took responsibility for their work and left it at that. 7 months later I received notice that "internal oversight" had occurred and I owed the full $575. I called in, was offered $150 off, and admitted I was unhappy; I said it might be reasonable to pay the time for the technicians, but they admitted it was their error. So the bill was reduced to $250 for the technicians' time, they confirmed I'd get a new bill, and then promptly terminated the call, without so much as a season's greetings or an apology. I won't be so dramatic as to say I'll never use them again, but I've gone from seeing what else I can possibly use them for to making them my last call. Save all invoices and get confirmation of payment completion in writing.

From the start…read moreJulian didn't come across as a typical sales rep at all -- he felt more like a knowledgeable industry expert who offered thoughtful, objective opinions about different technologies and brands. Before meeting him, I spoke with two other solar companies. One rep came on extremely strong and the meeting felt very sales-driven and impersonal, which made it hard to trust the information being presented. The other rep seemed to still be in training and had to run nearly every question through a senior colleague. Working with Julian was a relief. He's clearly experienced and communicates in a smart, casual, and very approachable way. We also had a great experience with Jelly and Brandi from the Solartech administrative team--they were easy to work with and helped keep everything moving smoothly. Solartech's digital quote platform made comparing options and selecting our plan simple and easy to understand. We ultimately decided against Tesla batteries after learning about potential overheating issues, which can be a concern in a place as hot as Hawaii. We went with Enphase we're happy with our choice. The installation team was excellent as well. Nainoa, the lead electrician on our project, is a total pro--easy to talk to, great at problem-solving, and he helped us quickly figure out a battery placement challenge. He completed the electrical work in just a few hours. During the panel installation, the crew accidentally drilled through part of our roof which caused a small leak, but they responded immediately and repaired it right away. Everything was patched up and looks good as new. We really appreciated how quickly they addressed the situation. Post-purchase support has been just as strong. I had some questions about how our system was pulling power from the grid, and Julian took the time to explain everything. It turned out to be more of a settings preference than an issue. He followed up with helpful explainer videos and even called a week later to make sure everything made sense. Overall, we're very happy with the experience and appreciate the professionalism, transparency, and support from the whole Solartech team.

I'm a resident on the Big Island and had been lightly shopping around for a home solar system…read more Being new to the solar game and not sure if I was going to sell my home sometime down the road or live in it until the day I die, I knew purchasing or financing an entire system was not for me at this time. Plus, I was concerned about maintenance and potential repairs, should I own a system I would think that those burdens would rest on my shoulders which was also why I was leaning toward not outright owning a system. The rates per kilowatt also varied from company to company which played a role in my final decision. My Helco bill was easily over $250 a month and during the holidays it was breaking $300. My Vivint Solar bill is no more than $90 on a crystal clear, sunny month when my panels are operating at full capacity and drinking in the sunshine. Do I use every last drop of the power my panels produce every month? Nope. On months when our usage is lower than normal the excess power gets stored which is great for months when my power usage is higher than normal like now, during Christmas with our holiday décor and lights on all night. Another great fact about my saved power: it carries over. Unlike my cell phone data which I either use or lose, my excess power carries over. The process was simple and painless. I did not pay one cent until I had received my first Vivint Solar bill. No money down. The slowest part of the process was waiting for Helco to inspect and approve the panels. That was it. And now, should I sell my home, should the panels get struck by lightening, should a hurricane cause damage to the panels, anything really, Vivint dispatches a repair crew and takes care of everything. If my panels are not functioning properly, I do not receive a bill. Simple. And my home is still linked into Helco so they're my back up ensuring that I always have electricity. Like I mentioned earlier, my system is capable of producing no more than $90 of power for the month. How did I decide on that size? My Vivint Solar rep, Jeff, looked at my past year of Helco bills and added 15% more just for cushion. What do I mean when I say my system is capable of producing, you ask? Let me explain. If the weather was perfectly clear and sunny every single minute of every single day for a month then my panels would drink up every drop of ray and produce power that would cost me a total of $90. Here in Hilo, the wettest part of the island, we can count on an overcast sky for at least ten minutes everyday. So my bills have been averaging about $70 a month. It's really simple and I highly recommend Vivint Solar. If you're window shopping, as I was too, I highly recommend these points to consider when making your final decision: - Is it possible that you will ever move? - Never, ever plan on moving, so you've decided to just buy the panels, then are you prepared for potential repairs and maintenance? - How much per kilowatt is the solar company charging? - Do you need to shell out any money for the installation process or for anything at all other than your monthly solar bill? Call the rep I worked with, Jeff, and let him know my Yelp review attracted you. Once you've decided Vivint Solar is for you too then you'll receive a discounted monthly bill for referrals too!
