Megan from Sky NRG provided a detailed quote and patiently answered my many questions about the different REC panels on the market. I ultimately chose Sky NRG based on my interaction with her and positive reviews on Google and Reddit. I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. We received Permission To Operate (PTO) from Dominion Energy on October 28, and since then, we've been consistently exporting energy to the grid. I'm delighted with Sky NRG. They never tried to upsell, were always responsive to my questions, and offered a competitive price lower than other bids. Megan and Robert continue to stay involved, and I am confident about their prompt attention to address any future issues. Highly recommended!

We have worked with American Solar in the past and had a good experience with Joel, the owner, and…read morehis assistant, but it appears the company has changed. This week a different crew came to replace some insulation and to install a "critter guard" to keep animals out from under our panels. When they left, the price of the work was more than 40% higher than what was in the written, itemized estimate. I spoke with Joel, the owner. He told me that the cost of a both the service call and labor had increased, but no explanation was provided for the failure to update the quote. The main increase in the invoice came from the labor time, which was nearly twice what was originally quoted. I asked if the crew was inexperienced so it took them longer, and he told me that he had sent an experienced team who knew what they were doing. They had called him during the work, however, to report that they were slipping on the roofing shingles, so it took nearly twice the usual time to finish the job. They had even tried to use some kind of a safety harness, but it failed to solve the problem. I told Joel that it would have been appropriate for the workers to tell the client that they were not feeling safe on the roof before the work was begun. I never would have allowed anyone to continue working on a roof they claimed was dangerous. Joel then told me this was an inexperienced crew who were unable to assess conditions on the roof until they were well into the job, and at that point, they couldn't really stop working. In sum, I was told that the crew was experienced enough to work efficiently, but they took four hours to complete the job. I was then told they were so inexperienced that they spent those four hours slipping and sliding around on our roof, but we heard no sounds of this inside the house, and nobody informed us there was a problem until it was time to pay. I was told that American Solar decided, without informing us, the homeowners, that they would continue installing materials on a roof that their workers had reported was unsafe. Even setting aside the contradictory statements, we find it difficult to believe that an established company would disregard both safety and liability in this manner. No offer was made to honor the quoted pricing. No offer was made to honor the quoted labor cost. I was simply thanked for my "feedback" and told that "this is why it's called an estimate." We were charged $1200 for 30 feet of insulation and wire guards to keep squirrels from nesting under two solar panels. We paid the invoice in full, an expensive lesson learned. We will use another company for any future needs.

The crew was professional, efficient, and kept to their timeline exactly as promised. From the moment they arrived to the moment the system went live, everything ran smoothly. We had one specific goal: to have the system up and running before December 31. Green Brilliance delivered on that promise without a hitch. Watching the crew work from my living room window, and then seeing our system go live right on schedule, was genuinely exciting. We are already seeing a meaningful difference in our monthly energy bills, and we are looking forward to the summer months when we expect to produce significantly more energy and rely far less on the grid. If you are considering solar, the installation experience with Green Brilliance was everything we hoped it would be. The team was responsive, organized, and clearly knew what they were doing. We are proud to be generating clean energy and glad we made the switch.

My main concern is that I was not clearly informed about the standby charge that can apply to solar systems over 15 kW. This ended up affecting the financial side of my system more than I expected. In my view, this is an important detail that should have been explained more clearly during the sales and planning process so I could make a fully informed decision. Since raising this issue, I have also been frustrated by the communication. Responses to my emails have taken several days, and the issue still has not been fully resolved. When you are dealing with a major purchase like a solar system, timely communication and clear follow-up really matter. What has been most disappointing is that I still do not feel the standby charge issue has been properly addressed, and I have not seen much willingness to take responsibility for the lack of disclosure upfront. I understand that not every issue is simple to resolve, but I would have appreciated more ownership and a more proactive effort to work toward a fair solution. I believe Green Brilliance has an opportunity to do better by being more transparent about utility-related charges, especially for larger systems, and by improving responsiveness when customers raise concerns after installation. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that it helps future customers ask the right questions and encourages the company to improve its customer communication and accountability.

So I hired them to replace our siding, windows and trim late last year. I continue to find problems today. It looks like they subcontract the work. They seemed to install the Hardie Plank well, but didn't do a great job with the joints of the PVC trim. Worse, they did not set the Cortex screws deep enough in most cases, so the plus stand out too high. I have to find a way to fix that before I can paint the trim. When I went to replace the outside lights, I discovered they had reinstalled some of the old lights before they caulked between the siding and trim, so there open gaps in there. More concerning, there were no electrical boxes in the new sheathing - they just pulled the wire through and screwed the light to the PVC block. It was extremely difficult to install electrical boxes after the fact. There were other issues, but you get the picture.
