Receptionist was incredibly friendly and was able to schedule me for the next morning, and offered me a new customer discount for the service call, which was significantly cheaper than other companies I spoke with. Michael called and gave a 30 mins heads up before he arrived. Took a look at both systems in my house, thoroughly walked me through each system and answered every question I had. He fixed the hot zones I had in my master bedroom, and explained how to best leverage my existing systems to maximize air flow throughout the house to make it more comfortable. He also provided some future recommendations on upgrades once I'm ready. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly and honest HVAC company.

They also check for any leaks as a courtesy. It's hard to find a good team like this in NoVA. I was never told by letter or email, and that was never ever shared with me. In case you didn't know what a lien was: "A legal right to possess another's property until a debt is repaid or an obligation is met." So in other words, the bank thought that someone co-owned my property. Now why would this be required for such a small loan that is in good standing (paying on-time monthly)? I had a larger loan with another company for my windows/doors yet they DID NOT feel the need to place a lien on my property. This place is untrustworthy, and sneaky, and I WILL NOT be doing business with them again. I do not recommend them as a company. I suggest you seek other options or at the very minimum demand another Financing Company.

Not anymore and I strongly advise everyone to avoid them that (although I previously used to heavily recommend them) I will now be certain to use every platform available to share our experience. Throughout the summer, I called to schedule an appointment and was repeatedly told they were many weeks, if not months, backed up but I could call for cancellations. All this time, I let them know that the unit was dripping on the floor even though we had cleaned the condensation line. By September, it was dripping so much that it was damaging the hardwood floors. On September 19th, I finally got an appointment - in December (as they said they were booked up past Thanksgiving.) Waiting a week or two, or even three, is manageable. Waiting three months is unacceptable. Shortly after making that appointment, I called another company - and they came out within a week. We are now looking at needing a completely new system when we didn't even get 5 years out of this one. The new techs told us it was installed incorrectly - thus straining the system. I tried to give ACE the opportunity to make it right - at the very least, they could have apologized - if not given me a (small) discount on a new system. I understand people make mistakes and I wasn't looking for thousands of dollars. Instead, they blamed us for not getting routine maintenance - when the unit is managed by someone with a certification in property management and was routinely maintained... we had called them that time (as we had in the past) because it was a significant issue beyond routine care. They called me back to let me know they thought we should "kinda part ways." So, in addition to needing a new 11k system just 5 years after buying one from them, I now have 10k in hardwood floor damage as well. What they should have done from the start was told me it was best to "kinda part ways" when I initially called and was staying loyal while trying to get them to come out for most of the summer. Never again - I understand the system is no longer under warranty but it should have been installed correctly and it shouldn't take months to get a technician out in an emergency.

After much diligent searching on Angie's List, YELP, and through word of mouth I wound up with three competent and well-respected companies and received proposals with a fourth coming from the current maintenance firm. After much consideration we decided to us Stelios and his team at Neighborhood Specialists, Inc. Stelios assured me I had made the right decision in choosing his firm, and I had a feeling I did. He was extremely responsive, and continues to be even after they finished the installation. I've myself have built successful businesses in the past and Stelios has all of the characteristics of an honest and successful business owner and his company and crew are the best - even when comparing against other types of industries! They took great pride in their work, paying attention to the little things. My advice to anyone else about to drop this kind of money on a new HVAC system: There is little risk with someone like Stelios. He stands behind his work and when you consider that the biggest difference between a system that lasts and one that doesn't is the quality of the installation, you need to consider the gold standard of installers - Stelios and his crew! UPDATE - 1 year after the install: we had questions and even had a problem that turned out to be a copper line not part of the original installation - and Stelios and his crew were there for us yet again! The pricing of replacement HVACs was competitive and the installation crew was respectful, hard-working and very competent, finishing all of the project in under one day. As a homeowner, I don't know whether the issue is the recalled electrode, the humidifier itself, the wiring, or the HVAC controls. That's exactly why I hired an HVAC company--to diagnose the problem. Instead, technician Silvio Guerrero immediately stated there would be two separate charges before inspecting a single component. I even suggested we set the recall aside and simply use the visit to diagnose why my humidifier wasn't working. Rather than inspecting anything or explaining what the charges covered, he repeatedly said, "It's two charges," stated he was very busy with other service calls and didn't have time to deal with this, told me to call the office, suggested I hire another company, and left. My HVAC system itself is brand new and working perfectly. My humidifier, however, is wired into the HVAC control board. I was not asking for an HVAC repair--I was asking for my humidifier to be diagnosed. If checking the HVAC control board as part of diagnosing the humidifier required an additional charge, that should have been explained after inspecting the system. Instead, the moment the discussion involved the HVAC control board, it seemed to automatically become a separate charge without anyone even looking at the equipment. What made the experience even worse was management's response. Instead of listening to my concerns, I was told I was "argumentative" and accused of "double dipping." That accusation was both unfair and insulting. I never asked for free work or refused to pay for legitimate diagnostics. I simply expected the technician to inspect the problem, explain what he found, identify what was covered by the recall, explain any additional charges, and then let me decide how to proceed. This entire experience reflected poor communication, impatience, and a lack of professionalism from both the technician and management. Customers deserve a proper diagnosis and a clear explanation before being asked to authorize additional charges--not assumptions, accusations, and a technician who walks away without inspecting the problem. I have completely lost confidence in Mannix Heating & Cooling and will never use this company again.
