Visited here for the first during Chattanooga Restaurant Week. I had never been when it was Terra Mae but had heard good things. First off the decor in the Dwell hotel and this area is so beautiful and awesome! I wish I could remember which cocktails we each got but as you can see in the picture the presentation was impressive. I would be these cocktails in the same category as Stir and The Fix (for those familiar with Chattanooga). Each course was great as it was a set menu for Restaurant Week. The hash brown waffle was unique with a great crunch. Looking at prices and other menu options definitely will have me coming back to check out more! The service was extremely prompt! It was Friday and not as busy as I thought it might be but maybe it's because it's a hidden gem.

Savory waffle...basically a loaded baked potato breakfast-style, it can't get better than that!

Love love love this place. I wish I could give it five more stars! It is the perfect place for a cocktail/coffee and a small bite- the best way to spend these summer days! I'm really glad they revamped Terra Mae and created this little gem in the downtown area. Solarium has new bold decor, a great menu filled with small plates and exciting cuisine and of course the world changing cocktails offered at Matilda Midnight. It can easily be forgotten since it is part of the Dwell hotel, but after one visit, you'll have an experience you won't forget! When I think of going out it really this is the optimal restaurant for me. My husband had taken me out to Terra Mae before and it was good but I found it a little to pretentious and personally not a great experience for me. But Solarium has completely changed my mind about this spot. You can't help but be taken but its bright colors and patterns throughout the spacious dining areas and gorgeous patio. It almost has a high end Gatsby feel but overall the restaurant still has a casual atmosphere. (We usually go on Sundays, so maybe during the week is a little more upscale.) The servers are very friendly and welcoming and I'm amazed how quickly the delicious food creations come out once you order. I love that the menu covers a little of everything: on Sundays they have the brunch dishes available all day (the savory waffle is a must!!), eclectic small plates such as duck egg rolls, Mediterranean flatbread and rice cakes. It is all very reasonably priced as well! And it's a bonus that they feature local business such as Mayfly coffee and Mainstreet meats! We usually go the small plate route and share, which I love because the flavors are so satisfying, yet you don't feel like you've overage. We absolutely adore everything about the patio! While the inside is gorgeous and spacious, eating on the patio really brings your experience to the next level. They have the fake grass, which amazes my pup, and comfy coaches, benches and pillows to really make you want to linger and relax there. There's not really a view and it's a little small but it is still easily one of the best patios in Chatt.

Falafel & orzo pasta salad side. Delicious!

I can't say enough good things about this place, and the atmosphere is great as well, as it's inside the Dwell Hotel.

This is an open floor plan, modern decor restaurant complete with a lengthy bar area. It is very open and modern except for the kitchen, which remains partially visible through windows from the main dining area. It was a Wednesday night and was surprisingly slow at 6:30, in terms of the crowd, or lack thereof, with only three other tables occupied during our visit. Our server, Jonathon, was very polite, attentive, and professional. Especially in contrast to my observation of the other server, whom I observed going through the motions of waiting in tables like a bored veteran server who might have been half drunk. Just an observation, but he kind of had our attention while serving a nearby table. He clearly knew what he was doing and mostly pulled off a good job, it was mostly timing and tone of voice and the way he was gliding across the room. Good for that guy. It was pasta night and that meant pasta specials, so I figured this was one of those, "our best game" dishes and ordered the bolognese with rigatoni. I also ordered the Appalachian Salad, which was spinach, radicchio, blue cheese, pine nuts, 5 oz beef tenderloin tip, red wine vinaigrette. I asked for medium rare and got well done. But both were fantastic. I did not think the bolognese would satisfy my appetite, it was filling, but I did t want to be hungry an hour later and the steak with salad deliciously helped. My wife had the herb crusted salmon, chive-pepper-corn couscous ragout, fried basil. And there was a lot of couscous, probably a cup and a half if not two cups. This too was delicious. I was intrigued by one menu item we did not try for $25 as an appetizer, deep fried egg yolks with crème fraiche and caviar. I know to get that, the yolks must be frozen, then breaded and fried to be crisp on the outside but runny yolk inside. I couldn't interest my wife in this adventure, but someone else try them and let us know? Staff were all very hospitable. Free valet parking for a couple of hours, right at the entrance in fact. Value was reasonable and good quality, quantity and flavors were very good. It didn't blow us away, but we were not disappointed. The only crazy thing was $14 for a small pour on a glass of Chardonnay, but that's the way it goes for dining out nowadays. This was a decent choice for our dinner out while visiting Chattanooga. I will say, Jonathon, our waiter, did a five star job.

The soundtrack was also an unexpected mix of religious Christmas and opera music that overpowered the room. Much too loud. That said, the food itself delivered. Portions were generous, plating was thoughtful, and the mushroom gnocchi--subbed in for the ravioli that night--was flavorful, well executed, and satisfyingly hearty. The menu could use another substantial vegetarian dish with protein, but overall the meal was enjoyable and worthy of a return visit. Half off wine bottles Wednesday was an unexpected bonus!

Had some issues in the morning that manager Kay took care of before we had a chance to speak to her, and was fantastic at making things right. Again, the entire staff I have interacted with has been very personable, seemed to remember me, although I don't know why(!!!), and shown hospitality that I would expect at a hotel. Would definitely stay here again.!
