5 stars all around. We came at 5pm on a Sunday (it wasn't packed at all) with our pups. The valet/greeter helped us get a server and we were met at the back patio and immediately seated. The patio is awesome because it has fake grass and the pups loved it. We initially came for a cocktail because I've been wanting to try out this new space that they created in place of the restaurant that used to be here. However, once he saw the new menu and how very reasonably priced the items were, we had to try it out. I ordered the barefoot in the grass cocktail. It was quite tasty and refreshing. Not too much flavor even though the ingredients make it sound like you'd get a bitter chocolate sweet taste. I loved all of the cocktails on the menu and will have to come back to try others. We decided to order the duck egg rolls - and they were Egg-cellent - The food was served at a great temperature and although it was a little tough to eat in egg roll form (duck doesn't always break apart like chicken or pork) it was amazing. I loved the special sauce it came with. It is hard to comment on the service because we were one of about 10 customers in the entire area, but we felt like we were at home and never had to worry about water for ourselves or for our dogs. Just some facts that you need to know, this café was built in place of the restaurant, and all of the spaces in the Dwell hotel now have the same menu - they serve breakfast lunch and dinner items all day! Four stars because it's just so beautiful. The wallpaper(s), the art, the plants, the bar...it's a really beautiful space. The service was excellent, and the food was a-okay (but not the highlight). My mom and I wanted to get dinner before services at the synagogue and a show at Memorial Auditorium, and we wanted to try some place new! My mom is vegan, but Solarium's menu looked modern and like a few things could be changed to be vegan if not vegan already. I sent them a Facebook message, and they confirmed - easy peasy to make some items vegan. We parked on the street outside the Dwell Hotel (where Solarium is located), and there was free parking for one hour - all we needed. When we walked inside, I was immediately struck by the decor. Both the bar to the left (Matilda Midnight) and Solarium to the right of the lobby are beautiful. We were eating really early and were told we could pick any table. One waiter arrived. We immediately told him that my mom was vegan and asked which dishes could be veganized. He said the salads. That didn't sound right to me given what I had been told on Facebook Messenger, and our waiter disappeared. A waitress showed up (she had taken over our table, I guess), and I asked again what could be made vegan. She gave us a list of dishes - not just salads - that could be made vegan. I ordered a glass of Malbec and then we ordered four dishes (all veganized) to try. We ordered the Veggie Primavera (zucchini ribbons, tomato, capers, oregano, and pinenuts - they took out the dairy that is usually in the dish); crusted cauliflower (shiitake dust, orzotto, sundried tomatoes, and peas - they took out the dairy that is usually in the dish); Mediterranean flatbread (hummus, olives, diced tomatoes, and feta on the side); and the cashew kale dip (crudites, root veggie chips, and lavash). They were all pretty good without being anything to write home about, but nothing was bad. I hesitate to complain about food that we requested modifications on, as it's hard to say whether a dish is well conceived or well cooked if you have them modify from how they typically serve it. But I will say that there wasn't anything I didn't like, and it was better than a lot of vegan options I've had. I would definitely go back to Solarium for appetizers and drinks before a show. It's a beautiful place to hang out and enjoy a nice glass of wine or one of their beautiful, interesting-sounding cocktails. I'd like to go again - and I want to try out the bar (Matilda Midnight) as well. Very enjoyable time here! read more

The decor for the entire place looks like something you'd see on a super trendy bloggers Instagram and wish you knew how to pair things together that beautifully! The service was prompt and friendly! Must tries that may be over looked are the avocado with sprouts, it taste like an avocado you'd get in CA and not a watery one like you find at most grocery stores in the south. Also, the orange juice, the color is so vibrant and there is no mistaken it's freshly squeezed! Everything else we tried was wonderful as well: the sweet oatmeal, the savory waffle, and the Nordic. Due to having a drive home I didn't try any of the cocktails however the Bloody Mary cart is the cutest thing I've seen in a while! read more

Visited here for the first during Chattanooga Restaurant Week. I had never been when it was Terra Mae but had heard good things. First off the decor in the Dwell hotel and this area is so beautiful and awesome! I wish I could remember which cocktails we each got but as you can see in the picture the presentation was impressive. I would be these cocktails in the same category as Stir and The Fix (for those familiar with Chattanooga). Each course was great as it was a set menu for Restaurant Week. The hash brown waffle was unique with a great crunch. Looking at prices and other menu options definitely will have me coming back to check out more! The service was extremely prompt! It was Friday and not as busy as I thought it might be but maybe it's because it's a hidden gem. read more

Love love love this place. I wish I could give it five more stars! It is the perfect place for a cocktail/coffee and a small bite- the best way to spend these summer days! I'm really glad they revamped Terra Mae and created this little gem in the downtown area. Solarium has new bold decor, a great menu filled with small plates and exciting cuisine and of course the world changing cocktails offered at Matilda Midnight. It can easily be forgotten since it is part of the Dwell hotel, but after one visit, you'll have an experience you won't forget! When I think of going out it really this is the optimal restaurant for me. My husband had taken me out to Terra Mae before and it was good but I found it a little to pretentious and personally not a great experience for me. But Solarium has completely changed my mind about this spot. You can't help but be taken but its bright colors and patterns throughout the spacious dining areas and gorgeous patio. It almost has a high end Gatsby feel but overall the restaurant still has a casual atmosphere. (We usually go on Sundays, so maybe during the week is a little more upscale.) The servers are very friendly and welcoming and I'm amazed how quickly the delicious food creations come out once you order. I love that the menu covers a little of everything: on Sundays they have the brunch dishes available all day (the savory waffle is a must!!), eclectic small plates such as duck egg rolls, Mediterranean flatbread and rice cakes. It is all very reasonably priced as well! And it's a bonus that they feature local business such as Mayfly coffee and Mainstreet meats! We usually go the small plate route and share, which I love because the flavors are so satisfying, yet you don't feel like you've overage. We absolutely adore everything about the patio! While the inside is gorgeous and spacious, eating on the patio really brings your experience to the next level. They have the fake grass, which amazes my pup, and comfy coaches, benches and pillows to really make you want to linger and relax there. Solarium is inside the Dwell Hotel and is an intimate setting with great ambiance and the most perfect retro modern design! Our server was friendly and helpful with our questions, the menu was abbreviated, but had a good variety of options. I tried the falafel & enjoyed it. The orzo pasta salad side is served warm and was very good also. Hope to visit again to try one of the many delicious sounding craft cocktails featured on the menu. Fortunately if you don't have time for a bite you can grab a drink in the lounge area. No shortage of style and service here! I'm looking forward to coming back soon! read more

Not quite a four star experience. The food was good but not over the top. They have a wide selection with many that are unique. The biggest issues I had was the fish was mushy, the food took over an hour to get and the service was mediocre. The other food was good but not great. After being spoiled I cannot feel great on giving it more than 3 stars. The ambiance is funky, the vibe is snazzy and the people watching is wonderful but the food just did not do it for me. read more

Ordered kinda good Scotch with soda on the side. Delivered Scotch...I assume...with a nearly 3inch cube of ice. I dug in as fast as I could to take the ice out . The owner was discussing table arrangement as I was attempting to save my Scotch from death. No remarks. No actions. Waitress came to check on FOOD and INDEPENDENTLY remarked on ice. Never brought soda water. Never offered to make my 15 dollarand ounce Scotch "whole". FAIL read more

I've been a few times now for brunch, and I've yet to have anything a Solarium that's not amazing. The burger may be the best one in town, and I've tried literally every place in town that's supposed to have a good burger. I can't say enough good things about this place, and the atmosphere is great as well, as it's inside the Dwell Hotel. Best brunch in Chattanooga. read more

Delicious, and inexpensively priced ($10) Dwell Benedict! Ordered a side of their potato hash with onions and peppers for a mere $2.00. A $12 (Really?!) Bloody Mary completed the meal. Imagine my surprise when I got the check only to find there was a 24% tax added onto the price of the already overpriced bloody, making it a $15+ drink. Again, really?!. I say go for the tasty food but avoid liquor drinks. Server said she "thinks" that 24% tax does not apply to beer or wine. read more
