Service was fast, install was okay, I wouldn't call it the "cleanest" work I've seen but just okay, prices are unreasonable in my opinion, hence the 3 stars, backup camera wasn't centered perfectly, dash-cam was outdated, overpriced and they didn't know it's use and features one bit. So I've decided to implement a new review policy - I won't review a place unless I've visited or used the service at least twice. And that's what I did with Solar Craft. First got one of our cars tinted - and it looks great. They did it in the quoted time, at really reasonable rates, and even matched the bronze hue of the factory tint that was on the rear windows. Clean job, didn't leave scraps or tools in the car (have had this happen with many other car installations), and were so amazingly nice to me. They even helped me diagnose a horn issue (a previous, and botched, install), and spent an hour of their time, free, trying to fix it for me. So I decided to return a few weeks later to get a simple head unit swap - and they did it cleanly, fast, and wow what an upgrade. I really have enjoyed working with these guys, and will do so again in the future. You can trust their work, and their word. Did I mention how nice they are? That alone is priceless. read more

He quoted me some models and prices over the phone. I checked out some other car audio places online, but ended up going with Solar Craft. The service there is great and Rudy is very professional. I called David (he's the owner) for a quote to remove 15 year old tint on my civic; he quoted me a price over the phone and estimated that it would take about 2 hours. I dropped off my car and called him 2 hours later, he told me that the tint on the rear window was taking longer to remove than he originally estimated. I was worried about damage to the rear defroster; David told me this was the reason why it was taking longer to remove -- to prevent from damaging it, they had to use a steaming process to remove the old tint. The whole job ended up taking well over 4 hours, but the windows on my civic look pristine! I was expecting to pay twice what he quoted me, but David is truly a man of his word -- he charged me exactly what he originally quoted me over the phone. Despite the age of my car, David and his crew took the time and care in making sure the job was done right. Last weekend I brought my BMW 325i into Solar Craft to have an iPod cable installed. I called to make an appointment, and the person who answered the phone was really nice and answered all my questions. When I showed up on Saturday, I was immediately helped by Tino (who was in the middle of working on another install; but made sure that I was taken care of). Tino was awesome... he explained everything that we could do to my car; gave recommendations, and offered me the best price I'd seen on the iPod adapter and labor cost. Everyone who worked there was extremely courteous and helpful. I went for a walk; came back an hour later, and the iPod adapter was installed and ready to go. Then Tino took the time to explain how everything is hooked up and how to operate the iPod (or iPhone) through the steering wheel and/or the stereo head unit. The install was perfect and clean, the wires were completely hidden internally, and the sound was amazing. This is the first review I've written on Yelp because I found Solar Craft through this site... and because everything worked out so well, I feel the need to pass it on. You are probably reading this because you want to know if you can trust your baby in their hands. Take a few moments and read the bad reviews as that could be you in that situation. Just take No chances. Unlike most shops, this place does not offer any satisfaction guarantee work on their services as they refuse to fix any installation issues they caused. Why take a chance? The Short Story: They give you an estimate, you both agree on, you bring your car to them. They will do their tint, they take your money and when they screw up, they take absolutely NO Responsibility for the bad work, and YOU have to pay them extra again to get it fixed! (With no guarantee that end results won't damage the window any further) Whaaaaattttt?!?!? Here is the long story: I was a returning customer after 10 years when i decided to trust my new car and another older car with them when i realized this shop is not what it used to be 10 years ago. We agreed on a price of $130 to tint both cars, 2 windows and a rear ( usually other shops do it for $99), total of 3 windows. Both of cara just after 4 days ended up with bubbles of air in them. Ok no problem, that can happen. When I took one them back for a fix for a rear windows tint bubble, i face their rudeness and unexplainable logic! I was willing to work with them so we both can be happy but instead i they thrown this logic: Quoting word by word by the owner "It is your fault! Because you paid less (exactly the price we agreed on) you can't expect good results!!!! If you want We can fix this if you pay the full retail price." They give you a discount and lousy work! As if they are doing me a favor. Lets just leave it to that! Thats the people you will deal with, they agree on a price and will not deliver expected results. After 10min of discussion and hearing their mambo jambo of how their incompetency and lack of basic skills ruined my car I got yelled at and that's where i knew i had to cut my losses and leave their store before my day got ruined as well any further. Pay us another $20 and we fix it they said. I said, $20 in nothing for me but i will not pay any cents extra to fix your wrong doings, and remember I trusted my car to be tinted professionally, otherwise i could go buy it on ebay and do it myself i wanted a ruined bubbly tints, I will never return here again, nor refer any family and friends. You gave me 2 cars with ruined windows and take no responsibility to fix them. Yelp readers: If You get your cars tinted once in lifetime, do your research and get it done somewhere else where they can provide you excellent service. Not here! And if you are owner of the store and reading this, shame on you for treating an old customer like this. That's all i can say, i'm filing a complaint with BBB BETTER BUSINESS BUERU as well before i find another reliable place to redo my tints and get it over with. P.S: While I was there, another customer was complaining of their bad job done on his classic car. read more

The stellar service that I received from Solarcraft prompted me to create to Yelp account....just so that I could give it rave reviews. Here's why: Upon first calling, I spoke with Dave when I was inquiring about installing a sound system in my vintage ride. He was extremely kind and went out of the way to offer some excellent suggestions over the phone--even though I had previously received all of the speakers, radio, etc. as part of a present. Might I add that many places don't like to install unless you purchase directly from them (I contacted a place in the South-bay that I was familiar with and they refused to accommodate me since I wasn't purchasing the supplies directly from them). After talking with Dave, I scheduled an appointment and was once again greeted with great service. He took me through the ins and outs of what they could do. In short, I felt extremely comfortable with such a meticulous staff...I couldn't have been more happy. To top it all off, just as I was about to leave, Dave offered to let me use the loaner vehicle to get around town while they were working on my car. Awesome! When I went back to pick up my ride, it sounded like a brand new car--seriously. I inspected every thing very thoroughly, and everything was in tact, looked great, and most importantly, sounded amazing! i've been wanting to get the windows tinted on my Mini for a while now. i've been scoping out places and looking on Groupon and Living Social. but i found that those deals are a rip-off...their "sale" price ends up being $140-$185 ("half off!!") but it's bullshevic. spoke with David at Solar Craft and he quoted me $140 for the premium Sun-Tek stuff that's free of metals so it doesn't interfere with cellphone, GPS, and radio signals. and it's got a lifetime warranty (covers bubbles, fading, and cracks but not scratches). he was helpful with making my choice of tint grade (18 in the back and 30 on the front side windows) and he was right. it looks great. and the guy who did the installation did a great job (Ernesto, i think). i'm also looking at getting a stereo installed and they gave me a competitive quote and then matched the lowest price i was quoted from another place. David even showed me the system in his own Mini Cooper, rocking the 'hood with "More Than Words" and some Sinatra. awesome. really sweet guy. i'm going back next week to get my system installed so i'll keep you posted. and i gave 4 stars because i just got the tinting done today and want to see how the finished product looks and how it holds up before giving the full 5 stars (it takes a few days to dry). but i definitely recommend these guys based on service, value and reputation (they've been around for 36 years). not only do they have great feedback on Yelp, but i spoke to a guy who owns a car repair shop in Burbank and he recommended three places for tinting and stereo installation -- Solar Craft was one of the three. read more

I am so glad I chose this place. I spoke with Ernesto on the phone and made an appointment. He was very friendly. The gentleman who helped me when I got there was also friendly and extremely helpful. Unfortunately I forgot his name. I ended up purchasing a new stereo and he was very informative and patient while I was making my decision. They were done within 20 minutes! I've been driving my new/used 2009 Honda CR-V with the window tint all around for over a month now, and I can tell you that it's the best decision I ever made! The car interior is black leather (can you say "HOT!"?) and the difference that Solarcraft's tinting made was hugely noticeable from the minute I drove out of their shop. I wanted, however, to wait for a bit and really give it a go so that I could give a fair report. I knew nothing about tinting when I arrived to get an estimate. Eduardo took all the time I needed explaining everything, showing me my options, and giving me a very fair price (I had checked up on that before hand). They also give a Lifetime Guarantee (try and find that someplace else). I went home and gave it some more thought, then made an appt. that week to have it done. The job would take about 2.5 hrs, so I brought my Kindle and waited. They have a comfortable seating area if you want to wait. There were several other people there who came in to pick up their cars who, without my asking, shared that this was the "only place to get the tinting done", "this is my 4th car I've brought here, wouldn't go anywhere else", "my family has come here for years, this was my 18th BD present". Well, now I'm one of the Solarcraft fans! They did a perfect job, and the windows look fantastic! I don't even need to use my A/C very much. My detailer said that I made the smartest move ever getting the tint and also gave a thumbs up to Solarcraft, who he knew of. Thank you Eduardo and Solarcraft, I couldn't be happier!!! read more

I took my 370z over to these guys and they did a fantastic job! Best price in town, no pushy up selling, honest high quality work! When my tint started peeling in one corner on both my doors (issue with all 370z's) They found what was causing the tint to be pushed up inside the door and fixed it free of charge! This place was awful! I called and made an appt. on my birthday to g=have my car tinted. they open at 9am and I am supposed to be at work at 9am. I told him this on the phone. I was there at 8:50 and David wasn't there. Instead, there were 2 idiots standing outside heckling my girlfriend and I. They were employees of Solar Craft, but didn't have keys to open. Instead, one of the morons suggested that I leave my car and give him my number. I said I wouldn't hand my car over with out a work order. He just shrugged and turned to the other moron and continued to speak in spanish. So I left and took my business elsewhere. I took it to Sunshield. I've been coming here for years. David and the crew are the best window tint professionals in the business - PERIOD! The only time I went elsewhere for a tint job was because David was booked for two weeks. Let's just say my experience at the other place was brutal. The tint had hair underneath it and they damaged my car. Solar Craft also does a phenomenal job upgrading sound systems. I'm having them install a remote start module so I can pre heat my car in the winter and cool in the summer. I highly recommend this place! read more

I was relieved to find a local stereo shop carry the wiring harness kit needed to install a double din into my Audi A4. I purchased the kit and paid for them to perform the installation; BIG MISTAKE. After taking the car after the install and driving it around, the rear speakers stopped working so I had to take it back and they were able to fix after about an hour. I then took the car back, played a DVD when only the sound was working and not the video. I called them and they said to bring the car back. I then decided not to take the car back but to take it to another shop when they candidly stated the install was a "joke" and understood why I was experiencing so many issues. I strongly suggest reconsidering this place for any stereo installation. read more
