Soggy burritos, not a single menu online unless it's soups, appetizers, and salads. For a Mexican restaurant that's been in town for TEN YEARS how can you not have a website?! If the food was amazing maybe I could excuse the lack of a website but sadly the food is the worst Mexican food in the area. Wet burritos, poor salsa, bad combination options, and very slow service. As I've said before, as an AZ native I know salsa and the salsa here tastes like it's from a jar. Maybe that's why they don't have a website? Not having a website or any sort of online menu makes it difficult to order carryout for my family when working late or when figuring out which Mexican restaurant to take my family to in the area. That along with the bland food has officially made my family decide to go elsewhere. It's worth the extra few miles to dine somewhere that can actually take the time to have a website, online menu, and quality Mexican food. I attended a lunch meeting here a few weeks ago, it was my first visit to Sol Azteca. it will not be my last! I ordered the seafood special of the day; it was a tilapia in a perfectly lovely, flavorful cream sauce. Colleagues ordered the guacamole which was VERY good, seafood soup (also delicious), the steak fajitas which they said were terrific, and the Tijuana platter (I sampled -- very tasty). Service was very friendly and cordial. Atmosphere was warm, inviting, and not noisy (though we were there for a late-ish lunch ... could be louder at dinner). Prices may be very slightly higher than at similar suburban Tex-Mex places, but only a little -- and the quality of the food is solidly good. They're situated in a moderately upscale strip mall, so parking is easy and plentiful. I look forward to going back. I'm intrigued by the roast duck, and their variation of a surf-and-turf sounds good, too. read more

Yum! My boyfriend and I ate here last night. We got a chicken quesadilla for an appetizer which only had four Pieces (little small but that's fine), he got the chicken fajitas and I got the beef fajitas. Our food was delicious. It came out very fast! I was surprised honestly. Our server was really nice as well and attentive to us. We also got the gold margarita pitcher. that was surprisingly pricy ($42). It was a little heavy on the mixer they use. I probably will skip that next time I come in. I definitely will comeback for the food! I loved it. read more

A fine but predictable Mexican restaurant. There is nothing offensive nor memorable about the menu. The carne asada is probably your best bet. Just moved to the area and this place is already a favorite. It can get quite busy for Olney, but once you're in, the service is fast. I love that the menu has traditional staples and some more adventurous items. I tried the lobster scallop burritos (it was a special) on one visit, and it was the most decadent seafood delivery mechanism I've had at a Mexican restaurant (much like a lobster Mac n' cheese). Bonus? Our baby loves this place. Never gets cranky. Maybe it's the decor - detailed and colorful paintings. Maybe it's because there are always people there and he loves faces. Or maybe it's because the food smells so delicious. I don't know, but it's a place we can take him with delicious food and a loud enough chatter that he can make some noise. read more

My family and I love this restaurant and have for years. The food is wonderful and the service even better. They always quickly accommodate big groups for birthday dinners. We've had many of those here. I really like the atmosphere here, it's got a nice vibe to it. My only complaint is the lack of a waiting area; the front can become quite crowded on busy nights with people awkwardly standing mere feet from some tables. They need to do something about this. I'd love to see an updated menu sometime. Their food is delicious but always the same. Not really a complaint since I'll happily eat it either way. I came here for the first time earlier this week. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I had shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. What wowed me the most about this spot was its stellar service. Our waiter was very attentive and asked if we wanted frosted mugs/limes with our Negra Modelo's. I agree with several of the other yelper reviewers as a relates to the bar. the manager needs to work on getting the staff to be more responsive in the bar area. Your place us always full and busy. Bland, mediocre dishes. I cannot understand how anyone could rave about this place. Three out of five of our orders were not as described in the extensive menu. There was no sense of authenticity. There is no way that this is the food the cooks would make for their own families. Our server was friendly enough, and it is in the lower price range for table service restaurants in the area. Just don't go there expecting anything special. Unfortunately the closest alternative is in Ashton, which I suspect is the reason they don't make any effort to improve. Look past the margarita soaked five star reviews and you will find a consistent theme of mediocrity. Olney will continue to struggle with restaurant options as long as we settle for lowered expectations. read more

I agree with the reviewer that said the chicken was bland. The food was not flavorful. My husband ordered a platter and tried to change his order within 5 minutes and was told it was already being made, so it couldn't be changed. It took at least 20 after that for our food to arrive. They didn't even try to accommodate his request. The service was mediocre. I got the fish tacos. They were expensive and unimpressive. We also got the guacamole and found that the bowl of guacamole is half filled with lettuce. I felt so cheated. Never again. read more

One of my favorite places in Olney. They have very generous portions and the food is delicious. The service is fast and they always make you feel as a valued customer. The owners make it their mission to interact with the customers and make sure everyone is happy. They have a nice bar section with a several tables if you want a casual dinning experience. Unfortunately I have to erase my previous good review from several months ago after my experience today, December 15th, 2015. My husband and I went in for lunch, were seated at a nice table by the window, and began perusing the menu. When I turned the menu over to look at the back, I saw a half-dead roach still wriggling on the tablecloth directly in front of me. I did not even think, I just ran out of there as quickly as possible with my husband quick on my heels. As I am 7 months pregnant with twins, I just needed to get the hell away! Salsa was very watery, chips were too thick, fajitas smelled amazing but didn't have much flavor. Parking really sucks at this plaza. Interior is nice but nothing to write home about. I preferred to go to doors down to Grill Marx or Sardis round the corner. I did try a place called Pollo Mex in Colesville a few days before which was amazing. This is an absolutely amazing restaurant that you can dress nicely for for an evening dinner or you can be more casual on a Friday night because it is so much fun! There's a huge gathering on Friday nights, very lively! The food is absolutely delicious!! We've always ordered the salmon dish as well as beef tacos and they are really, really good!! I am giving this restaurant 1*because there is no 0. My family took me to dinner for my Birthday there last evening 12-3-2014. I would like to say the service was horrible. The waitress was very rude. She understands very limited English. I understand its a Mexican restaurant but shouldn't the employees there speak English. No only Mexicans go to the Restaurants. My son food was horrible. She never ask us if we need anything. If our food was ok. I asked her for a plate she snapped at me. Wait a minute. I never got the plate. What we did get plenty of was water. Our glass was constanty being filled with water. That was a good thing. I would never recommend anyone to this restaurant. They need to have emplyoyees that speaks English. Two waitress came to take our orders. Because our regular waitress couldn't understand our order correctly. Poor Service. Wish I could give 3.5 stars. Definitely a fan but not perfect enough for 4 or 5 stars. Tried Sol Azteca for the first time and had mixed feelings: Food: Delicious but mildly overpriced. Portions were large but seemed more like $9.99 dishes instead of $15 -- 17. Steak fajitas were DELICIOUS! Chips and salsa were ok -- chips were great but salsa was very watery and cilantro-y. Drinks: Well-priced. Strawberry margarita seemed a little lacking in the tequila department though. Service: Wonderful. Four stars. VERY speedy. Barely had to wait after walking in on a crowded Friday night. Chips/salsa immediately appeared when we were seated and food/drinks were there in a flash. The waiters truly hustle here -- very impressed! Decor: Sombreros on the walls. Wall of mirrors. Cool fireplace that separates the bar from the dining room. I decided to look at the break down of the bill and the restaurant had put a 10% tip already placed on the bill. Very delicious Mexican food. I went into this restaurant with low expectations and was very satisfied. I have since been back at least three times. Their enchiladas are a little too wet, but it's ok. Still tasty. Their fajitas are excellent. The service is great and the prices are fair. Warning: there is a lot of construction going on in this shopping center, so you will experience some hassle actually accessing the place. I agree with other posters, the Margarita's are sub-par at best. Hardly any tequila and the pre-made mix is too tart to enjoy. They do NOT, I repeat DO NOT give you the $$$ liquor when you ask for it. I drink only Jose Quervo tequila and I can tell you what I got did no contain Jose Cuervo tequila. My dinner mate ordered Jameson and ginger ale and when it came out she could clearly tell it was not Jameson. The waiter noticed our dismay, came over and copped an attitude when we questioned it, offered to show us the bottle (yeah, you can put anything in a bottle, it doesn't mean it is what it should be). When the check came, the receipt said Hennessy....yeah, that is exactly what it tasted like. The food, was decent. Nothing to brag about really. The Service, lacking at best. I had just come home from a long trip and was spending time with my daughter. We were talking, trying to catch up and the waiter kept coming over asking if we wanted anything else (the attitude was saying "Leave if you aren't going to order more") even though the place wasn't very busy. He kept a watch on us, I'm not kidding, every 5 minutes, he kept coming over. He finally brought us our check, I guess to say ""Can you pay and leave now". I won't go back....it's not worth it. This was the second time I've gone to Sol Azteca (both times with Meetup groups) and was terribly disappointed. The only good thing I have to say is that the prices were relatively inexpensive for Montgomery County. I agree with other reviewers that the chips and salsa at Tex-Mex restaurants are a harbinger of things to come. The chips were cold and bland, and the salsa was watery and nearly tasteless. I asked the waiter for a spicy salsa, and it never came. The menu has some specials that are seemingly more interesting than the standard Tex-Mex fare, but after the chips I decided it was probably not worth spending money on them. I ended up getting the Sacramento platter: one beef enchilada, one cheese chile relleno, and a hard chicken taco. The portion was huge with lots of cheese, but the sauce was bland and the beef in the enchilada was tough and tasteless. Also, the enchilada sauce seeped into the taco, turning it into a bunch of glop. Looking at my dining companions' dishes, even the specials looked big but not that appetizing. I can only imagine that the pork masitas one person got were dry. The only draft beer selections were Dos Equis (amber and light) and Yuengling. Fail. Like other reviewers, I found the service slow. In summary, don't waste your money here unless you like bland, uninspiring food. read more

Well the food here is incredible, unfortunately when you receive poor service it trumps the food. Upon arriving we looked at the menu and order salads. On the menu it said served with rice and beans and when we receive no rice or beans we inquired why- we were told it's not included. We pointed out the menu which clearly stated served with rice and beans and were answered again with it's not included. We tried another approach and asked why is it on the menu if they don't include it? We were told doesn't matter it's not included. We asked to speak to the manager he's out on a delivery. I ended up paying 2 dollars for rice. ( while it's not a lot of money it was the principle) I was very disappointed in the attitude that was displayed and felt that the treatment of the customers was not up to a high standard. read more

At times, I come to eat dinner at this restaurant at least once a week. My favorite restaurant in Olney hands down. Place is always clean. Server is always nice, and isn't always coming to out table every 2 minutes to rush us out. Their menu option is actually pretty big. Carne asada and Salmon are my favorites.
