Ambiance..cute place with indoor..outdoor feel and lots of cute lights Service..fast and friendly Food..amazing..they have a whole veggie menu and kids menu..no changing tables..I got the spicy mango margarita and got it extra spicy..and veggie salad and avocado tacos..it came three in a pack with rice and very fresh. The salad had warm veggies and good flavor. Loved the habanero salsa too. The butter cake was amazing too with ice cream and they do a happy bday treat.

Authentic and gourmet Mexican food. I've never had better. The steak was juicy, flavorful, of high quality and perfectly grilled. The Carnitas were tender and incredibly tasty. There was plenty of room around our table and the ambience was conducive for conversation. Out waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation. I had a very pleasant dining experience and look forward to returning.

Exceptional elevated Mexican cuisine! Sol Agave is one of our go-to's on a night out. The Tamarind margarita is delish. Chile verde is a staple, but we always switch it up and try new menu options. From the moment you are seated and all throughout the experience, the staff is attentive. The patio is lovely and spacious. Absolutely recommend!

Sol agave is another delicious Mexican restaurant. It's not fancy, but the food is tasty. The service is good and the people are friendly. The ambiance is warm and inviting.

1st chips and salsa, undecided, wasn't a fan of the chips, but salsa and beans delicious. Now the salad, wouldn't get it again. But I do recommend, the carnitas. Restaurant clean, only thing I didn't like, the waiter only check on you once and awhile But, I would go back

Gotta love an impromptu meet up with friends on a Saturday night for prime time dinner time in DTSC! As always (and as it should be) Avenida Del Mar was hopping!!! Love seeing downtown come alive with contagious happy vibes from locals (and visitors) with the same intentions...a good time!!! After pregaming with a few cocktails and wine at home, we Uber'd downtown. The gang decided to just do walk ups into a few restos to see if we could get lucky with a table for our party of 6 sans reservations. LOL. Third time's a charm because we we ended up here at Sol Agave, and I'm so glad we did! This was my first time at this location (have been to the one in SJC many moons ago). We were welcomed by super friendly hosts (always plus points for me!) and seated quickly inside! Our sweet server, Emma, took great care of us! She took our food and drink orders and right away and before we knew it, the chips and salsa were already on the table! First things first... - their Guacamole Sampler is a MUST (wow, just wow!!!) - Mango Margaritas (w/ Tajin please) really hit the spot! The fresh slice of mango in there was crunchy and sweet, yum! My toxic trait when eating Mexican food is always getting full from the chips/salsa/guac, so my husband and I decided to share their Famous Carnitas (w/ corn tortilla), and their Taquitos Al Gusto (w/ short ribs), which were the perfect choices for us! The DJs set the mood and got the fun fiesta started with great music!!! I like to think I burned some calories with each bite by dancing in my seat!! LOL. CHEERS and happy eating till next time...

Five stars, and I say this with joy. I walked into Sol Agave and immediately felt something I always look for in a restaurant. Warmth, energy, and the sense that food here is meant to be shared, celebrated, and remembered. We started, as you should, with chips, salsa, and beans. Simple, yes, but this is where you learn everything about a kitchen. The salsa had brightness, a little heat, a little soul. The beans were creamy, comforting, like something that has been respected, not rushed. I ordered the pork belly bites, and my friend went for the taquiza. Let me tell you about this pork belly. This is not just a dish, it is a moment. Crispy edges that give you that beautiful crackle, then inside, tender, rich, almost melting. The balance is everything. You have acidity from the salsa, freshness from the garnish, and that deep, indulgent flavor of the pork. It is thoughtful. It is generous. It is exactly what you want. Now the taquiza. A celebration on a plate. Three tacos, each one vibrant, layered, and alive. The tortillas warm and soft, holding everything together like they should. Fresh radish, bright lime, herbs, textures everywhere. You taste Mexico, but also creativity. It is not heavy, it dances. What I love most is that nothing feels careless. The plating is clean, the colors are inviting, the portions are honest. Even the small details, the salsas, the sides, they are treated with respect. The room itself is lively but comfortable. People talking, laughing, enjoying. Service is attentive without interrupting the rhythm of the meal. This is what dining should be. Flavor, generosity, and a sense of place. I will come back, not just because the food is good, but because it makes you feel something.

    CHILE COLORADO

My husband called the restaurant a few days prior and made a reservation for a party of 7. There is street parking available and we ended up parking a block away on a Sunday night. It didn't seem too busy but I can see it getting crowded during peak times. We were seated within 5 minutes of checking in. The inside restaurant was smaller than what I was expecting but it was lively. The staff and service were very friendly and they made sure we were taken care of the entire night. Bathrooms are available outside on the side of the restaurant but you will have to ask for their code. The food was amazing! 5/5 for the chile Colorado as the meat was tender in a flavorful sauce. I love the fresh tortilla chips and bean dip that was complimentary with the meal. The drinks were also very good and I shared a margarita flight with my husband. We both really loved the tamarindo margarita the best so we ordered a full sized one later on. Really loved our experience here and will have to come back or try one of their other locations!

I'm in LOVE! We came here during Memorial Day weekend, during prime time dinner hours and we got seated right away. I love that there's indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as bar seating. The ambiance is classy with casual, somewhat fancy vibes and there's TV for entertainment. It caters to a variety of crowds - groups, family, dates, GNO. I love that the menu isn't overwhelming and it offers a lot of classic Mexican food options. Loved the light and crispy chips in the complimentary chips and salsa and beans that they offered. Our entrees, tacos de hongo and carnitas, were amazing! The meats were so tender and filled with flavor! The beans and rice paired perfectly with it and were also equally delish! Parker was great - totally hospitable, gave plenty of attention, was efficient and just had an overall positive energy and vibes. Please note that this is in the corner of one of the main streets in San Clemente - there's parking but patience may be required during busy hours. Also, restrooms are available but are located outside of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend and visit again!!!!

I'm a regular at Sol Agave San Clemente. First off, Alex, one of the partners and chefs, is incredibly hospitable. Every time I come he always offers the table tequila shots! We sometimes have to insist that we're too toasty to have another drink! The chili verde is incredible, super moist and well seasoned. I wrap the food in a flour tortilla and it's delicious. The butter cake (pictured) is one of the best desserts I've ever had. I wish I were kidding lol

Great Mexican food spot with delicious food! They have indoor and outdoor space with plenty of options to choose from. The complimentary chips with refried beans were super tasty. The shrimp were large and flavorful. The lobster enchiladas were to die for! Oh and the butter cake was beyond belief! Our waitress was friendly and welcoming and answered our questions.

Shrimp Taquito-amazing, tasty shrimp with nice spices and garnish, pinto beans well pureed and good. Mexican street corn-pretty good, a little heavy on the mayo. Food was good and solid, but not a WOW! There is better Mexican out there around here for the same or lesser prices, so don't go here for the value, go for the ambience and if you like drinks and/or expensive tequilas, they've got plenty of those too. Desserts were very generous, flan with caramel and candied pecans was delicious, creamy, firm, not flabby like some flans can be. Churros-rolled into a circle and fried, served with vanilla ice cream, caramel, candied pecans too. Desserts were the best part of the meal. I enjoyed eating here, once. Twice, I won't.

Great little town to explore. This was our lunch spot. We had already walked for a couple hours. Avila's is a beautiful restaurant and fairly spacious. Rafael was our waiter, and we ordered quickly. 1. Two taco combo platter, chicken and shredded beef. 2. Tacos and Caldo, my friend ordered with tacos. 3. Mama Avila's soup which came with chicken and lots of other things, and a tortilla. All 3 were delicious and filling. I always get a two taco combo plate since I love this meal, and to compare to other restaurants. This was great. The tacos perfect and flavorful. We will come back. I have been jonesing for a good bean and cheese burrito for some time now. Over that time I have been very disappointed in the B&C burritos I have come upon. Some even from my trustworthy B&C places. This was my first B&C burrito from Chela's and was looking forward to their version. At the last minute, without warning, planning or any notice I ordered my bean and cheese burrito wet. I was feeling kinda wild! Also, I asked for some chips and salsa in the side. When it was rung up, the cost was quite high and it made me step back. So I did question the charge. I didn't realize that when I ordered chips and salsa the guy thought I meant another full order of large bag of chips and a pint of salsa, not the little bag and little cup you get with your order. A nice gal helped fix that and the order cost looked much more reasonable. Whew! Financial crisis averted. I sat down after getting my Diet Pepsi (won't hold it against them that they don't have Diet Coke). Soon after, I was brought a small bag of chips and some salsas. Get the chipotle and you will not be disappointed. Shortly after that my plate with a HUGE bean and cheese burrito with lots of sauce, cheese and a drizzle of sour cream. Check the pic out, it's a beauty. The taste did not disappoint. Great beans, ooey, gooey cheese inside and out. The wet sauce was great. I thought it would be a verde sauce, but it was red. Next time I will see if they have a verde version for me to try. Just a really great B&C wet burrito. Delicious. With the chips, I only ate half the massive burrito and am already looking forward to lunch tomorrow to eat the other half. I don't give out 5 stars to many places. They have to blow me away with food, service, consistency, on and on. Chelas is an order at the counter and they bring it to you kind of place. The people taking orders and bringing food are quite nice and always willing to see if you need anything. The food has been consistently very good. All wrapped up, it's one of my favorite places around. Great job.

Ten minutes after we left, when we were going to the game room, the waiter approached our group and made a big embarrassing scene in the lobby, demanding to know what was wrong with his service, asking why the tip wasn't 18 to 20 percent like the receipt indicated, and saying things like "I just want to know." He was very aggressive, very confrontational and highly unprofessional. And he handled the situation loudly, publicly, and unprofessionally and scared our children with his rude, aggressive way of speaking. If management wants to speak to him, he had dark brown hair shaved underneath and longer on top, brown eyes, and had a safety pin styled earring in his ear. He was fine during the dinner and we didn't observe any rude behavior and left happy and impressed with the restaurant but aggressively chasing older guests down in front of family, young kids, and other hotel patrons is beyond inappropriate and should be looked into by management.

The shredded beef had a slight crisp to it without being dry or overcooked, and there was a generous amount inside. The bell peppers were cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and still had a nice crunch. The Colby Jack cheese paired with the refried beans, eggs and really rounded everything out and took the flavor to another level. This was easily one of the best machaca burritos I've had. Jose was absolutely right, and I appreciate the recommendation. Afterward, I had the chance to chat with Jose and learned that this is a family-owned restaurant. He truly exemplifies great customer service, and I enjoyed the conversation just as much as the meal. I will definitely be returning and recommending this place to others. Looks like they also have a solid weekday happy hour. Highly recommended.

Plenty of parking. Ok for groups…read more They do have one tv for watching sports. Staff is always friendly. Typical fast food Mexican menu. Something for everyone. Can call ahead and order food to go.
