Came in today when there was a car show on Del Mar and ordered the huevos rancheros a Bloody Mary and the Bloody Mary was way to salty I felt bad but the waitress was so kind and agreed and brought me a tequila basil margarita replacement that was much better. My hubby had omelette and very much liked his. Our waitress was super kind and it turned out to be a great lunch!

GRILLED SALMON SALAD

Every dish we ordered was well prepared and super flavorful. I was especially impressed with the grilled salmon. I would definitely order this dish again. Highly recommended.

This place is in a little plaza like area. It was quite lively with people. The waiters were nice and the place had TVs. The tvs were tuned to March Madness & baseball, so it was good times. We only came here for drinks. I love margaritas and saw the margarita flight. It was a little expensive ($26?) but I ordered it anyway. They do give you free chips, salsa, & bean dip. I was happy for that because I needed something to soak up all my margaritas! My favorite margarita was the Tamarindo. I thought the others were just ok. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a lively atmosphere.

Ambiance..cute place with indoor..outdoor feel and lots of cute lights Service..fast and friendly Food..amazing..they have a whole veggie menu and kids menu..no changing tables..I got the spicy mango margarita and got it extra spicy..and veggie salad and avocado tacos..it came three in a pack with rice and very fresh. The salad had warm veggies and good flavor. Loved the habanero salsa too. The butter cake was amazing too with ice cream and they do a happy bday treat.

Carnitas

Authentic and gourmet Mexican food. I've never had better. The steak was juicy, flavorful, of high quality and perfectly grilled. The Carnitas were tender and incredibly tasty. There was plenty of room around our table and the ambience was conducive for conversation. Out waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation. I had a very pleasant dining experience and look forward to returning.

Gotta love an impromptu meet up with friends on a Saturday night for prime time dinner time in DTSC! As always (and as it should be) Avenida Del Mar was hopping!!! Love seeing downtown come alive with contagious happy vibes from locals (and visitors) with the same intentions...a good time!!! After pregaming with a few cocktails and wine at home, we Uber'd downtown. The gang decided to just do walk ups into a few restos to see if we could get lucky with a table for our party of 6 sans reservations. LOL. Third time's a charm because we we ended up here at Sol Agave, and I'm so glad we did! This was my first time at this location (have been to the one in SJC many moons ago). We were welcomed by super friendly hosts (always plus points for me!) and seated quickly inside! Our sweet server, Emma, took great care of us! She took our food and drink orders and right away and before we knew it, the chips and salsa were already on the table! First things first... - their Guacamole Sampler is a MUST (wow, just wow!!!) - Mango Margaritas (w/ Tajin please) really hit the spot! The fresh slice of mango in there was crunchy and sweet, yum! My toxic trait when eating Mexican food is always getting full from the chips/salsa/guac, so my husband and I decided to share their Famous Carnitas (w/ corn tortilla), and their Taquitos Al Gusto (w/ short ribs), which were the perfect choices for us! The DJs set the mood and got the fun fiesta started with great music!!! I like to think I burned some calories with each bite by dancing in my seat!! LOL. CHEERS and happy eating till next time...

The sea bass!!

Not only is the food amazing, but the atmosphere is fun and right on the main strip in SC! The last few times, our server was very kind. I actually feel confident in saying this is the best sea bass I've ever had! Chef Alex is a wizard! I also accidentally asked for a drink I thought was going to be different but boy was it GOOD!

Sol agave is another delicious Mexican restaurant. It's not fancy, but the food is tasty. The service is good and the people are friendly. The ambiance is warm and inviting.

CHILE COLORADO
Katie R.

My husband called the restaurant a few days prior and made a reservation for a party of 7. There is street parking available and we ended up parking a block away on a Sunday night. It didn't seem too busy but I can see it getting crowded during peak times. We were seated within 5 minutes of checking in. The inside restaurant was smaller than what I was expecting but it was lively. The staff and service were very friendly and they made sure we were taken care of the entire night. Bathrooms are available outside on the side of the restaurant but you will have to ask for their code. The food was amazing! 5/5 for the chile Colorado as the meat was tender in a flavorful sauce. I love the fresh tortilla chips and bean dip that was complimentary with the meal. The drinks were also very good and I shared a margarita flight with my husband. We both really loved the tamarindo margarita the best so we ordered a full sized one later on. Really loved our experience here and will have to come back or try one of their other locations!

Tacos de Hongo

I'm in LOVE! We came here during Memorial Day weekend, during prime time dinner hours and we got seated right away. I love that there's indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as bar seating. The ambiance is classy with casual, somewhat fancy vibes and there's TV for entertainment. It caters to a variety of crowds - groups, family, dates, GNO. I love that the menu isn't overwhelming and it offers a lot of classic Mexican food options. Loved the light and crispy chips in the complimentary chips and salsa and beans that they offered. Our entrees, tacos de hongo and carnitas, were amazing! The meats were so tender and filled with flavor! The beans and rice paired perfectly with it and were also equally delish! Parker was great - totally hospitable, gave plenty of attention, was efficient and just had an overall positive energy and vibes. Please note that this is in the corner of one of the main streets in San Clemente - there's parking but patience may be required during busy hours. Also, restrooms are available but are located outside of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend and visit again!!!!

Yu Z.

Rack of lamb is perfect. The lamb is very flavorful and has no gamey smell at all. Service is great.

1st chips and salsa, undecided, wasn't a fan of the chips, but salsa and beans delicious. Now the salad, wouldn't get it again. But I do recommend, the carnitas. Restaurant clean, only thing I didn't like, the waiter only check on you once and awhile But, I would go back

The dishes are creative, upscale, and very well done. It's a little on the pricey side, but the quality is there, so you don't feel too bad about it until the credit card notification shows up. The bar is one of the highlights. Great drinks and even better bartenders who actually know what they're doing. We've been here several times, and the service has always been fantastic--friendly, attentive, and consistent. If you want traditional Mexican food, there are plenty of other choices. If you want really good Mexican-inspired food, a great cocktail, and a fun night out, Asada is definitely worth a visit. Just don't expect taco-truck prices. Apparently, nice shirts cost extra.

Right off the bat, I loved the vibe and ambiance of the space; it had more of an intimate feel to it with all the dim lighting, but not too dim that you couldn't see your food anymore. It was also clean and well ventilated. Service was top notch--absolutely no complaints there. Our server made sure we were attended to during our entire meal. He was nice, friendly and was very kind enough to share his recommendations. The food was okay. It's definitely an elevated Mexican restaurant, but the dishes were a bit of a hit or miss. What we tried: House Chips & Salsa - 5/5 Filet Mignon Tacos - 4.5/5 Signature Carne Asada - 4.5/5 Crispy Carnitas - 3.5/5 House Made Horchata - 3/5 We loved the complimentary chips & salsa they serve you while you wait for your order--their salsa was the BOMB. I was also very happy with my Filet Mignon Tacos and the Signature Carne Asada--the steaks were cooked to perfection in both dishes. They were so delicious and every bite was just *chef's kiss*. The Crispy Carnitas was kinda meh though. It was tasty, but the pork was tough and dry, making it a little hard to eat. I wasn't a big fan of their horchata either--it had this chalky/powdery texture that didn't sit right with me. It tasted good, just not the texture for me. Overall, I think we're still quite happy with our experience here. I would love to try their other dishes for sure.

Started with the Avila's Appetizer which consisted of bite size shredded beef taquitos, shredded chicken flautas, shredded beef tacos, and a quesadilla, served with a side of sour cream and guacamole. Everything was great, the chicken flautas were our favorite item on the sampler but everything was good! For my main I tried the Tampiquena, 4oz carne asada served with a cheese enchilada as well as rice and beans. It was really good, my leftovers tasted even yummier the next day! Great little town to explore. This was our lunch spot. We had already walked for a couple hours. Avila's is a beautiful restaurant and fairly spacious. There is parking on both sides of the street among the shops on Avenida del mar. We were really thirsty and the busboy, Christian, got us 3 iced teas and chips like within 2 minutes. Super nice. Rafael was our waiter, and we ordered quickly. 1. Two taco combo platter, chicken and shredded beef. 2. Tacos and Caldo, my friend ordered with tacos. 3. Mama Avila's soup which came with chicken and lots of other things, and a tortilla. All 3 were delicious and filling. I always get a two taco combo plate since I love this meal, and to compare to other restaurants. This was great. The tacos perfect and flavorful. We will come back. Next time I will order the fajitas. I believe this is a chain with like 10 stores or so, so check to see if any are in your area. A very nice lunch with two fine lady friends as well. Thx Rafael for always checking on us and the iced teas to go.
