I recently purchased a dress from Soho for a wedding in Michigan. I was running low on time shopping the day before and didn't want to waste time going to multiple stores. My friend Ivy Costa (ivycosta.com) is a stylist and recommended Soho. Although their dresses are pretty pricey they have a great selection of brands perfect for formal events. I'm a huge fan of black dresses and they had an assortment from leather skirts, black tops with cute little studs, sleek cocktail dresses, lace gowns, and more. They were very helpful pulling pieces that would work for my event and I ended up purchasing the first dress they handed me. I walked in wearing jeans and boots and I really liked that they have heels in the dressing rooms to pair with the clothes you are trying on. If you are looking for a classic piece for a formal event I would recommend Soho. It's located in Hyde Park too which is really easy to access from the highway. They have street parking right outside. read more

I have several fall/ winter weddings coming up, and was in the market for a dress to wear. I drive by Soho everyday on my way to work, and have always been intrigued. I had some free time yesterday, and thought I'd stop in. There are some assorted jackets, shirts, and skirts, but mostly fancy dresses. They also had a small table of very nice looking accessories as well. While I spent a little under an hour there, there were two girls who game in looking for homecoming dresses. They also talked a fair amount about prom, so I'm guess lots of students buy dresses here for dances. A nice thing I noticed; the employees took down the name of the high school the girls went to, just in case another student wanted to buy the same dress. Be prepared to drop a nice chunk of change for your purchase when you go. It's worth it in my opinion- the dresses are such good quality! They carry labels such as Nanette Lepore and Shoshanna. It's nice you can find those brands outside of Saks, and they probably have a bit more of a selection too. I was disappointed with the customer service. I was greeted immediately when I came in, but both employees working were helping both a mother and daughter with a homecoming dress. No one came to check on me while I was trying on my selection of dresses. I think the owner perhaps came in while I was checking out, and helped the 2nd homecoming dress student. She was even making recommendations as to what accessories and shoes she should wear with the dress. I'm not sure if I came at a bad time, or they didn't think I was going to make a purchase, or just forgot about me, but they could absolutely stand to make improvement in that category. Something else useful to know: you can't return an item except for store credit, and it must be within a short time frame. Make sure you love it before you buy it, because if you change your mind, you might be trying to sell the dress on e-bay! I wish I could give half stars; I would give it 3.5. I liked the store and their selection, but the customer service left a bit to be desired. Loving good clothes, I'm going to round! read more

Love the clothes although typically they are mostly in size zero, two or four. I'm not afraid to spend money on clothes but I often leave that store feeling like a second class citizen. It's not hard to wait on more than one person at a time. If you walk in and there is a more frequent shopper there, you are literally treated as if you are invisible. I left yesterday and promised myself I wouldn't go back. I'd rather go to Saks or Nordstrom and be treated like a valued customer. read more

Terrible experience with a return. The sales associate should have been clear about their return policy especially since I told her I'd like to try both tops then return one if it doesn't workout for an outfit. I returned it just a day later with receipt and tags and was told I get store credit. read more

What sets Soho apart from other boutiques is the level of personal service you receive. The team at Soho makes you look and (more importantly) feel beautiful every single time you visit. I have two young kids and a busy work life and the team at Soho makes it simple and easy for me to shop. And if I am wearing a piece from Soho I will inevitably receive a compliment. From weekend wears to a shirt that transitions well from work to date night, Soho always has what I'm looking for. Soho has changed my expectations for a shopping experience in the best of ways. I have a great experience every time I go into SOHO. It's beautiful, clean and the racks are always filled with trendy pieces. I've been in a few times this summer and one of the employees, Mattie, has always been helpful and a breath of fresh air. She finds my sizes and recommends what would look good on me- I've bought a couple of things based on her fashionable opinion. I can't help but remember the scene from Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts comes back into the snooty clothing store and says, "you work on commission, right? HUGE mistake." Soho pretty-womaned me today in all the wrong ways. I've passed by the store many times on runs and have liked their clothing displays in the windows. Today I went in to find a dress to wear to a wedding, and I was met with complete snobbery. I browsed and picked a few dresses to try on. A few other women walk into the store, and I overhear one of the shop girls tell the other women about which items are on sale. I had to ask her to tell me as well, and it was not obviously marked. I tried on a beautiful alice + olivia dress, but was disappointed to find that it was a dress best worn without a bra. The shop girls were pulling out new pieces for the other women who had come in after me, and I even heard them offer to call one of the other shoppers when a new item came in. I nearly had to beg for any sort of feedback. At one point after asking about the bunching on a dress I had tried, one of the shopgirls replied, "yes, I think it bunches because it's too large" and then, fitting with the entire experience, she did not offer suggestions about another size or offer to find me a better size. All in all, I can handle expensive, pricier brands, but there is no way I'm going to spend more money and be treated like a reject. In addition to not finding a suitable dress, I noticed a couple other potential issues. I got the impression from the ten or so dresses I tried on that there are minimal pieces suitable for women who were anything over a size 6 and/or have a greater than b cup bra size. Many of the things I tried simply could not be worn with a bra at all. All in all, I will not be going back, even to tell the shopgirls "huge mistake." read more
