Came for the first time recently to sell some items. Overall cool spot, love there it's secondhand, wish the prices were a bit better. It's more than a thrift store so I would probably come here after checking out Goodwill, but I do like that you can make some money back selling your stuff and that they have lots of name brand items. read more

first, their answering system gives you information before you can talk to someone: "We take all seasons all the time. We pay cash for your clothes." And although they do stay open long hours, they don't mention they don't want your clothes on hangers. And at this time they aren't accepting dresses. no mention of any of that on the message. I went in there for the first time and the place smelled like dirty laundry, and what they were selling looked old and worn. and quite frankly, my clothes were designer, likely worn once, and most of them still with tags on them. I probably took in 20 items, they took ONE thing for an absolute pittance. it was not worth the effort or the gas it took to drive there, or hauling everything in there and then having to haul everything back, so I went to snooty Fox across the parking lot and they took everything but three items. but you do have to have your items on hangers, AND they weren't even SNOOTY! they were very nice and even friendly. I will NEVER return to Clothing Mentor again. as the saying goes, "Fool me once...shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. read more

This place never lets me down! Stopped in for some spring wardrobe adds and hit the jackpot today. Several items were new with tags from athleta and banana republic and everything else was in fantastic shape. I always appreciate this location's curated selection - they somehow appeal to all shapes, sizes, ages and styles. They also do a fantastic job of organizing the store and keeping it up to season. I had never been in one of these stores, but see a lot of influencers hype them, so gave it a try. Maybe I just need another visit. I came in after being at the Snooty Fox in the same shopping center, so maybe I had higher expectations. The store is packed and hard to figure out how it's organized. Also, people rolling around shopping baskets are just adding to the chaos. There are clearance or sale stickers on some items, but no indication as to what the "deal" is. This location has a LOT of clothes. In my preference, I prefer to go to a location that doesn't have quite as much to sift through, and has only higher quality items. I visited last week and I was able to find a few items, but I still prefer some of the other locations better. read more

Popped into Clothes Mentor on a whim. My daughter and I were shopping at Once Upon A Child, located next door, and decided to go into Clothes Mentor as well. Clothing, shoes and accessories may all be found here. Everything from Old Navy and active wear to Louis Vuitton was seen during our visit. Items of higher dollar amounts are kept in cases. We were greeted right away. When looking at the showcase, I was asked if there was anything I would like to see closer. Checking out was quick and easy. We were reminded about promotions that were added to the order. There is a loyalty program. Double check items. This is true when purchasing any used goods. Here I did find a hole in the croch of a pair of parts I was considering buying. Thankfully I caught the hole before getting to the register. Selling here is essentially the same as selling at Once Upon A Child. Bring your clean items in. Preferably in some form of container. Items will be evaluated by the store. Once your buy is ready they will send you a text. Come in within 24hrs to collect money, and items they were not interested in purchasing. Store itself was clean. Items seemed well organized. A well done franchise as I felt I could have been back home or anywhere with well labeled sizes, clothing in color order, rows well labeled as pants, jeans, workout clothes, skirts, etc. Also handbags, jewelry, shoes, scarves... I bought a Kate Spade bag with the original $300 tag in the bottom, listed for $50, but on sale for 30% off. Nice! All three ladies working were friendly as one helped me with the bag, another opened the dressing room, and another checked me out. Nice job! read more

I want to share my recent experience with Clothes Mentor. I have been a loyal customer, purchasing numerous items from their store. However, I feel the need to warn others about misleading advertising. I came across a pair of shoes on their website, made the purchase online, and received a confirmation that I would be notified when I could pick them up. Unfortunately, I didn't hear anything from the store. When I visited the store, they couldn't locate the shoes and told me they were still searching. To my surprise, I later received an email stating that my order was canceled due to insufficient stock. This was frustrating, especially considering that the shoes were prominently featured on their website. I believe that if something is featured for sale, it should be available for purchase. Furthermore, when I went to inquire about my missing shoes, I also brought in some items to sell. I had a brand new Chico's blazer with tags, a Rowan Girl dress with tags, an Adrianna Papell designer dress also new with tags, and a few gently used pieces in good condition. However, the store refused to buy most of my items, offering me only three dollars and fifty cents for a dress that retailed at $50. Their reason was that they focused more on business casual attire, despite my previous purchases from them that were similar to the items I was trying to sell. This inconsistency in their buying practices was disappointing and left me feeling like my time and energy had been wasted. I suppose it depends on the day you drag your things to the store all nicely arranged, it may not be the day they want what you have. Bad business practice. Don't waste your time and energy. I would rather cut up the dress and use it for dishrags than to sell it to them for $3.50 so they can resell it for $25.00! In the back of the store is their 50% items. I think I went to the fitting rooms about 4 times. Every time I would think I am done, I would find something. The employees are very generous and helpful. They were not aggrevated with any of my questions. I spent only $43.00 and I got walked out with 6 items!! Great deal! New mama here. I go to this Clothes Mentor whenever I have time or if I want to update my closet. I normally have an amazing experience. It's a Sunday, only a few people in the store, 3 employees working, got greeted when I came in all is normal. Finally have a few hours for myself first time shopping since I had the baby. I spend maybe an hour, hour and half in the store. I go to try on (feeling good and confident with my mom bod) parked my cart right NEXT to my fitting room stall, why did I come out and ALL of my stuff has been put back!!!! I go to the counter and I let the associate know and she walks around with me yelling for Kiara. I'm assuming she must have been the one to put it all away. All the associate said was she was sorry. Sorry?! Not even, hey I can help you try to look or hey let me actually find her and have her help me. I could have cried! I do not get time like this! New mama or not! I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here! Clothes Mentor, you are going to get all sorts of customers! Step up you Customer service!!! To top it off Kiara was the one who rung me out!!! I brought a Valentina bag in almost new condition and BCBG sandals, Karl Lagerfeld jeans and blouse, short sleeve Ralph Lauren dress, another brand sleeveless dress, new jeans and Alfani long sleeve blouse with tags. Their response? "We already have too many bags, high heels are hard to sell, we have too many dresses aleady, we don't take long sleeves now" Really? but you take the trash you sell? and you take jeans when? levi's and KL. I love this store and this location. I have come here on occasion with the girls from work during our lunch hour. Clothes Mentor is a consignment/clothing thrift store that is so much better than Plato's Closet. The clothes here can suit young adult women and older. Every time I have come to this location, I am greeted by the friendly women who work here. The clothes that are here are always nice. During my last shopping visit, I bought 2 skirts and a denim jacket for a total of less than $30. The denim jacket alone would normally cost more than that! Such a deal! The dressing room area is also very nice. There is plenty of space to hang the items that you are trying on. The staff are super friendly about the process. During this last visit, one of the worker's was chatting with our group and supporting our options when we came out to show the other girls. Super uplifting! Clean store, friendly staff, good stock. I come by here a few times a month and always find something I want. There's a lot of brands like Anthro and Madewell. I've gotten lucky and even found Equipment and Johnny Was for really affordable prices. They have a lot of active wear too- Patagonia, Northface, Lulu, etc. Selling can be a little funky, but just don't take it to heart. I've had them turn down new with tags popular brands like AG jeans, Free People, Athleta, etc, sometimes I think they don't really even look at the items. But the store is usually already pretty fully stocked so I don't blame them for not wanting to dig through everybody's stuff. read more

Clothes Mentor is nicer version of a thrift store. Clothing, shoes and handbags from labels you know and would normally pay top dollar for if the items were brand new. I've never bought anything but have sold clothes here a couple of times. And since everything is so cheap here, they pay about a quarter of what they will price the items at in their store. It's fair given the fact that you're getting paid without having to wait for consignment. Service is friendly and depending on how many people are in front of you selling, the process is usually pretty quick. read more

Yeah they don't actually go through your clothes. Stuck a brand new Louis Vuitton speedy bag with the receipt folder stuck in the middle pocket in the middle of a tote along with three pairs of Torrid jeans and several Michael Kors and Calvin Klein items. I then piled a bunch of older Lane Bryant button ups I was planning to donate on top just to check. They didn't make an offer on a single item which means 1 of 2 things: 1. They don't actually go through your stuff. 2. They don't know how to authenticate LV, so DEFINITELY do not buy a LV from them. I guess it could also mean they don't buy LV, which would be stupid. read more

Clothes Mentor is a consignment shop with tons of clothes, accessories, shoes, and more. When it comes to clothing items, you name it and they have it. So I was put onto Clothes Mentor by someone I follow on Instagram who tagged them. What caught my attention was that they buy and resell designer items. People can bring in lightly used items and they buy them from them. Then they authentic the items and resale them to the public at a discounted price. You can find some good designer items for a good price. It is hit and miss though! What I don't like is they get designer items in but they post them on Instagram and do this hold system. They allow 3 people to hold. Each person gets a day and if that person doesn't pick up the item in an allotted time, it goes to the next person on the hold list. I think they should have some items that stay in the store and they don't post on Instagram to give the in store customers a better selection of designer items. What if someone doesn't have an Instagram? They are missing all the good stuff. Their in store selection isn't all that great! You can't really come in and buy designer items unless they have the ones they posted on social media that didn't sell. I went to the store to see what else they have and it's basically like a Ross or TJ Maxx. Be prepared to search for items. They have a ton of things but this type of shopping isn't my thing. I get overwhelmed and turned off quick. I'm also a designer person so if immediately you don't have what I want, I'm ready to go. Lol! I guess I know what I like. Basically I would say, unless you are looking for an item to wear to an event and you need to look, just follow them on Instagram. The best items are sold there. Now if you aren't into designer then going to the store may be your thing. I honestly think it all depends on your personality and what you like on whether their Instagram is for you or going into the store. For me personally, I'll stick to their Instagram. read more

They barely pay out - I should have paid more attention before I signed my clothes away and donated the rest, but it was only when I got home and took a closer look at the receipt did I realized they took SEVEN articles of clothing for only $20 (less than $3 an item!). This included a designer denim jacket, Vince Camuto shoes that had been worn once, very lightly worn Levi shorts, and a few other nice tops. They don't itemize how much they're paying per item on purpose so it's easy to not realize how little they actually pay at first. If you're selling, go elsewhere. This store is a must-visit at least once per month for me. There is a wide, wide range of sizes, styles and brands at all kinds of price points, carefully curated for trendy locals. I adore this little shop, and encourage anyone with a passion for fashion but an eye on their budget to come comb through the racks and find a treasure or two. read more

First time selling clothes here and it was a very pleasant experience. All of the ladies working were very sweet and helpful. They let you drop off your bags and they will text you when to come back once they dig through your clothing and make you an offer, so you don't have to wait! I adore a good consignment shop. When you have a pre-teen daughter, you quickly realize that gone are the days when you spent your $$ on yourself for new clothing and jewelry at name-brand retailers tucked away in shiny sparkly malls. Nope, fast-forward to the stage where you discover just how devious trendy retail marketing is, targeting the younger crowd who must have ridiculously overpriced rags that you CAN'T find at consignment stores. So I typically shop at factory and consignment shops for myself (oh Marshall's and TJ's, how I love you even though you are both rapidly going the wrongful and misguided direction of Target and overpricing a lot of your merchandise). However, such shops can't be gross with cruddy apparel that has to be mended or looks/smells weird in-store. I usually find very good values at the dominant Cincy consignment retailer, Snooty Fox (specifically their Hyde Park location). However, Snooty's doesn't carry very much athletic or just lazy-day casualwear, which is what I was in search of recently. We decided to check out the relatively new Clothes Mentor located across from Snooty in the Hyde Park Plaza. Thankfully I didn't hear beforehand that they are affiliated with the nightmare from my undergrad days that is Plato's Closet (which my memory tells me is foul as hell, UGH). The little store we went into was very bright, clean, airy and tidy. Items were arranged in a manner that made sense, the inventory actually looked in good condition and current, and the two sales ladies were professional and pleasant (not the gum-smacking snotty party girls that seemed to haunt Lexington's Plato Closet - God I hated that place. Never shopped at Plato's, just sold stuff there). And, there were some really good name brand/designer offerings at legitimately low prices! I can't stand when I go into a consignment store and the prices are marked laughably high. We left with a very nice Northface hoodie for my daughter ($22), a pair of UGG clogs for me ($20), two NWT fleece leggings ($6.50 apiece!), a Banana Republic pullover ($20), and a little gold Coach wallet as a gift for one of my daughter's friend ($12!). All of these items are in excellent condition and didn't smell like a fart (huge improvement from Plato's - are you detecting a pattern here?!). We will DEFINITELY return to CM's here, and we are happy with the addition to the plaza. My daughter liked the layout, which didn't seem as crammed and unorganized like Snooty can get. If CM can add more collegiate apparel than I would be VERY happy! read more

I had heard good things about another Clothes Mentor location so when I tried this store out I was very hopeful. However, I found the clothes very hard to sort through and was only able to find one item that I liked. I gave in and went to Goodwill next day and found that even this had a better selection and was set up in a more shopper friendly way. read more

Weird experience here. Be careful, lots of items in the store were damaged (holes and tears in fabric). Brought in items to sell- mostly J Crew and Banana Republic, and was told these items should go to Plato's Closet instead? I'm a young professional with a YP wardrobe so thought the comment was weird. They reviewed the price they'd give me versus what they'd sell it for and some items had over a 70% profit margin! Will just sell on Poshmark and keep all the profits and sell to someone that will love the item as much as I did! read more

I love shopping here. I knew about Clothes Mentor when it opened several months ago. And it is only a 5 minute walk from my house. And I love thrift shopping. So why the heck have I not been here until now?? It took a Cincy Chic event to get me in here and I am so pleased with my loot. I was surprised by how big the space is and how many racks and racks of nice clothing they had. I couldn't have a polite conversation with anyone because my eyes were constantly roaming the pretty displays. There is even a large 50% off clearance section (where I found two items.) I cut myself off before even looking at everything and I still left with: 1 pair J Crew jeans 1 pair Kut jeans 1 Lark Lane top 1 New York and Co. cardigan (with original price tags) 1 Chicos cardigan. For all that, I paid $50. Now I'm anxious to clean out my closet and go back. :) Oh, and the staff was so nice! Selling items here is not so great. But the shopping is good. read more

My only concern is that when they decided not to take a few items, they seemed to be waiting for me to argue or yell at them. In the course of about three days, two different people randomly mentioned this place to me in conversation, I was running errands on a Saturday and stopped in. I've only had experience buying; I would suspect that selling might be frustrating at these types of places. I've done my fair share of bargain/consignment/thrift shopping. So, before walking in, I would suggest to appropriately set your expectations. What makes or breaks these experiences for me is how the place is organized: finding the right size clothes in the right section of the rack, racks that aren't over crowded, good prices, and good quality merchandise. This location met all of these expectations. I especially appreciated that they have sections for numerical sizes as well as letter sizes (S,M,L, 6,8,10,12, etc) instead of lumping everything together. I found things to be racked well, and efficient to go through. The shoes were a little bit more difficult-they're arranged by size, but then on the ends of the racks, they are also on display. It also might be nice if they had carts or totes to use while shopping. All in all, I had a good experience and while I tried on a ton, only came home with one $10 shirt. But, that's not their fault. They have special events, and I have witnesses the personal shopping that others mentioned at other locations. read more

I am a reseller (ie I go to places like clothes mentor then resell them on places like eBay/Poshmark). I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a month at clothes mentor Hyde park depending on how many high end pieces I buy that month. Yesterday I was at the back of the store going through all of my maybes (it takes a while to sort through clothes as a reseller) & 2 African American ladies (AN EMPLOYEE, an older lady with short hair,glasses & Michael kors mask & a customer) came over to a rack near me started complaining about how awful white woman are. Here are some of the direct quotes "they all want to be like us, they want our lips, they wants our asses, they want steal our men" "they are so uncultured even Asians are more cultured then them" "at least in the south they hate us to our faces but these Cincinnati white girls are nice to your face but talk shit behind your back" this went on for about 20 minutes until they said "all these white girls want to be included in the conversation like this one over here (referring to me) meanwhile I'm just trying to go through my clothes !! And then "they came up to me and said so you wanna say something huh?" It was extremely aggressive. I'm an excellent loyal customer. I should NOT be made to feel like a racist like I did in the clothes mentor Hyde park location by a clothes mentor employee who was on the clock none the less!!! While this was one of my favorite locations to go to I will be taking my business elsewhere most likely to fields ertle where they welcome me with open arms unlike this toxic place! I believe the Young Lady who was in the store at the Hyde Park Paxton location on 2/17/2020 around 4:30 has no experience or eye for fashion, I am known for being a well dress individual, I have over 20 years experience in retail, This young lady turn down some absolutely fabulous items and accepted some items I would have least not accepted and I was the one who purchase them, while in the store there was another lady letting her have it for turning down some items she had for sale, She even told her you have turn down items from me but when I have some else bring them in you accepted them, Can you say Busted!!! I am not bothered about being paid pennies on the dollar but, She has no eye for fashion....Might want to check her before she reck your business. read more

I have been to this location once to sell clothes and once to buy clothes. I was definitely surprised at the items that they bought from me and opted not to buy (Banana Republic jeans, etc...) I found out recently that they offer a "personal shopper" service. I called and made an appointment, answered a few quick questions over the phone (size, favorite colors, least favorite colors) When I arrived I had a dressing room full of clothes and was very optimistic. Out of the first stack of clothes I found one pair of pants that I liked and ended up buying. Another salesperson picked out a few more items and I found 4 shirts from that stack.
