Legacies has a reputation of being a high end consignment store. It has some very nice pieces. That said, customer service and accounting accountability are lacking. I sent several photos in of rugs, picture, and houseware goods for consideration. Legacies took the rugs and picture. A rug and picture sold. I was told they had too many lamps on my first visit; the second visit they were taken. I received one check and cashed it. When I checked in person to see what else had sold, Donna told me I was to expect another check in the $40 range the first week of November. That was inaccurate. I talked to Stephanie Aldridge, the manager, who tap danced around my issue. I asked her to talk to Donna about the mistake. I asked her for an accounting of what I had sold. She thought I asked about cashing of the first check; that was not the question. I knew the first check came in and it was cashed. She made a mistake and didn't acknowledge it either. She said checks are mailed the first of the month, but to expect them when the mail delivered them. I have one more check for $15 to be delivered in December. Stephanie finally agreed to send me the accountant's statement of date, piece, cost, payment, which should have been sent as a matter of course. This is basic business. One has to keep business transactions straight and accurate. Legacies doesn't contact the customer when anything sells. You have to wait until you receive a check or ask in the store. There is also a $2 charge for every check sent, which is unnecessary, particularly with relatively small payments. I asked Stephanie to let me know when the last date was to sell the remaining rugs. She didn't answer that question. I told her I didn't want the rugs donated and that I would pick them up on the last date. She decided to simply put the rugs in her office and I could pick them up, which I will do. I have done business with a reputable consignment shop for years. They take everything I have because they know it is quality merchandise. I am hardly the only person who has had trouble dealing with Legacies. I suggest you find somewhere else to consign your items. read more

Most of the original artwork in my home came from Legacies. It used to be a fun place to find unique pieces. But now the store's inventory is a mix of either junk that should have gone to Goodwill or hugely overpriced art. They have clearly lost their minds with the prices of anything worth buying. I suspect the management is allowing local art sellers to use the store as an outlet. Going in there recently left me feeling sad. read more

Beware of what you leave here. I took a beautiful crystal bowl there and was told by the person at the front desk "This is a show piece". Weeks later when I returned with more items to sell, when asked if the bowl sold, there was a lot of confusion in the back office as to how many pieces I had originally brought. After some checking the person told me that the bowl had been thrown away as it was chipped. I was shocked and upset that a beautiful bowl that had spent its life in a curio cabinet would have been tossed out without even letting me know. The bowl was NOT in any way damaged when i dropped it off. You can only guess when it was chipped. I certainly have my opinion. When asked where the sterling silver stand that it was on was I was told "It's back here, do you want it?" A very disappointing experience. read more

Be prepared to spend lots of money. It's like an old estate sale type of place. Nice pieces, but I would do some research before purchasing some of the things. I do like that they are raising money for cancer. read more

I have shopped here in the past and have always been a little taken back by the prices. Things are very expensive, especially for being used, and mostly outdated. As with most consignment/thrift stores, there are always gems, but after my experience today, I don't think I will be going back even to find those. I walked in very unsure of how their consignment works, so I asked. The kind woman, Connie, behind the counter was very helpful. I then brought in a bag of small home items to potentially consign. She called out one person, who snuffed annoyed when she saw me and my bag (her name was Emily) and called someone else out to look at my things (Ellen). Ellen was very short with me and took one look in the bag, snuffed, and said "I'm going to be honest. We can't take any of this." And walked away. I'm fine with my items not being taken, but it was in an extremely rude tone, like I had simply wasted her time by bring these things in. I will stick with the small consignment store in Silverton that doesn't judge me by my looks or snub me when my items aren't "good enough". read more

I was looking for a pair of matching night stands so I stopped in here hoping to have some luck. What I never noticed before when I walked in was that the proceeds go towards an organization benefitting patients with cancer. Bargain shopping while helping a great cause!?!? Sign me up! The store was organized by like items, with living room furniture to the right when you walk in. They have things from silver serve-ware, tea sets, headboards, even jewelry and shoes. Some items seemed like a deal, and others seemed overpriced, but I think that is what you would find when you have such a big selection of items. It is a fun place to stop in and and maybe find the one item you never knew you needed! read more

I like the idea behind this place and that it donates the proceeds to the Wellness Community, but as far as the items in there I didn't find much that I just had to have. There was a picture in there that did catch my eye, and upon closer inspection I realized it was a wallpaper sample that had been framed. Clever idea but it was $45. I felt it was a bit pricey for pretty much everything that was in there. I posted a photo of some of the things they had. It was nice stuff for sure, but I think I was hoping for more of a thrift story type of place. This is definitely more of an upscale type of place. If you are looking for some nice furnishings, it's worth checking out. Maybe this is the type of place that I'd need to come back to and see what donations they have at a later date? I may try it again to see, but I don't think it'd be my first stop for consignments. However if you are just having a shoppy kinda day, there is also a Snooty Fox to grab some new clothes right next door. read more

I am writing this for my elderly mother, in her words: As a person who put many items on consignment into the store, i must say their back office is lacking in every business sense. There seems to be no accountability or responsibility in the bookkeeping area. My questions on my merchandise , like where is it?, May i have my inventory sheet?, I need help as the items listed are not mine, could you assist? and many others were met with rude or very unhelpful replies. here's a short list of responses: *customers tear things up, so not sure we are responsible. *I'm sorry, I gave your sheet to (person in charge) and she's not here *your item isn't on sales floor now, it's in the back...but cannot find *we have had computer problems *I'll check into it...then nothing... *I don't recall you come back after you make an appointment *We go by our lists that you were given...but it's wrong...well which ones are not yours?...but what about my missing items?.....we have no record of those and then after having sold items on consignment the response of Legacies and your expectations do not match take your items somewhere else. Well, can I get the ones you have BACK??? This shop for all the "good" it does may be a place to shop but the people that are selling on consignment are going through nightmares. At the very least you may want to consider becoming an upscale "donations only" shop so as not to damage or cause undo stress upon others like myself that are trying to sell some of our items to make ends meet. This business has a very good mission and my wife is a recovering breast cancer patient. But they have recently become anti-customer. Do not donate or consign items to Legacies as they do not respect their customers. They often leave you waiting for someone to write up your donations or consignments. Legacies is a consignment furniture store located in Hyde Park Plaza. The twist on this store is that the proceeds go to the Wellness Community; a nonprofit dedicated to supporting cancer patients. The store a good selection of antiques and new items. Normally there is a large collection of framed prints/paintings and misc household items in addition to furniture. I find the pricing to be very inconsistent. There are some items that clearly overpriced (Simple newish glass cake stand for $30) and other very fairly marked. In past, I have snagged some real deals; pair of silver candlesticks for $20 and new Coach brand picture frames for roughly $10/piece. There is enough variety that keeps me coming back. The layout makes it easy to do a quick once around without much effort. The staff is somewhat helpful but most of them are volunteers that work limited hours/week. I have always been able to get my questions answered but sometimes it takes repeating a couple times. read more

This store is fine if you're looking for very traditional furniture and outdated decor. My mother would have loved it! Not for me(and I'm in my sixties). And the paintings...they need to blow those out of there and get a new selection. I will say that the staff is nice and can be very helpful. read more

Really disappointed by a recent experience here. I've been a customer for years and have bought couches here in the past that I absolutely loved, and it feels great to support a truly wonderful cause! I wanted to upgrade my couch situation and had such a great experience in the past, naturally I went back to Legacies for my next couch purchase. The couch was dark brown and seemed to be in great shape, so I checked it out a little and bought it. Upon sitting on the couch at my house for the first time, I smelled something very distinct--cat urine. Since it's a dark brown couch, you can't see the stains on the outside. Upon removing all of the covers and flipping them inside out (they're white on the inside), yellow stains are visible in many places and also very, very pungent. Unfortunately, all sales are final and Legacies is not able or willing to negotiate anything with me. Don't make the same mistake I did and assume that Legacies does any due diligence on these items! I understand that this is their policy, but I want other shoppers to be aware that it appears Legacies does not inspect items before putting them on the sales floor. It is the shopper's responsibility to thoroughly inspect every item before purchasing. Don't feel ridiculous if you want to take all of the covers off of the item, turn it upside down, etc before buying--I sure wish I had! Unfortunately, they've lost a loyal customer here. read more

It really isn't fair to post such a bad review on the store when the store doesn't even have delivery, they only suggest several that frequent the store by bringing in deliveries. Terrible furniture delivery. Drivers did not schedule a delivery date, came by my house at 5 pm on a Saturday when I wasn't home (would've thought?) and just left the furniture on my back porch without calling or leaving a message. Furniture was left out in the rain and is now completely ruined and they could care less. Avoid at all costs. read more

This is a great consignment shop in Hyde Park Plaza that has everything from furniture to cake platters and bird cages. The inventory changes constantly so you never know what you'll find. It's a fun store to explore and it's super conveniently located next to Snooty Fox. When my wife is shopping next door for clothes I come here to go treasure hunting. read more

The 2 reviews that have been written about Legacies have been from the point of view of shopping there. I have not shopped there but have donated items. When you give stuff to legacies, you can either do it on a consignment basis or donate it, all proceeds go to the Wellness center. When we downsized my parents we had a lot of items to donate, some of them which were nicer than we wanted to give to goodwill/thrift shops, although we had a bunch of stuff for those place too. Trying to figure out what to do with the nicer items is how I discovered legacies. Just like I will take work and nicer clothes to Dress for Success instead of goodwill, I will be using legacies to donate higher end items (silver etc). If you donate instead of giving them items for consignment, they are very good about getting you a detail receipt with a value on all items, so you have good documentation for you tax records, since it is a charity, donated items are tax deductible. One of these days I will take a look around, they do seem to have some cool stuff. Although, I probably will not be shopping their anytime soon, since I need to rid of stuff not acquire any more. Also, if you have some items (e.g, furniture) that are too big that you cannot take it there yourself, they have arrangements with a mover who will come pick it up. read more

This is a great place to go for unique home accessories...but beware...it can be addictive. You can find some real treasures here at such a great price you'll inevitably leave with something you never thought you'd need. Sort of like ebay without the bidding. I enjoy going to Legacies-- not just when I have something in particular that I'm looking for, but also when I'm just in the mood to go for a shopping hunt. It's an upscale consignment store and the proceeds fo to the Wellness Community. I've had a couple great finds there. Some things are way out of my budget, or not in line with my personal taste, but I enjoy browsing all the same. They have furniture, mirrors, paintings, and various knick knacks. I was there earlier this week looking for a coffee table, and nothing happened to catch my eye, but the staff was very friendly and approachable. Also of note, if you find something you like, but it's out of your budget, there are scheduled mark-downs (I think maybe 10% usually, and it's indicated on the price tags). If you go and don't see anything you like, but aren't in a hurry, just keep checking in and you might be surprised to find what you've been looking for. read more
