Bad service/Rude There is a large sign that says 10% off all services if paid in cash. My service was $20 and upon checking out I said if I pay in cash it's 10% off right? She replied yes, then proceeded to demand $19. I said that 10% of $20 is $18. She still demanded $19. Also, most nail salons in the city give me a shoulder massage which is a very nice touch. OMG, I was dying in this chair. Instead of being relaxed and enjoying the soft music and electric chair massage, I was cringing in pain. The nail technician, Amy, was trying to fix an ingrown toenail on my left foot and she was too rough with the tools. It felt like she was cutting right into my skin. She was also very forceful with trimming my toe nails that were not even that long. My big toe (left) was friggin bleeding!! And she cut into my right big toe as well on the side. I had half a mind to leave but I was not even close to being finished. Amy already removed my old polish so my feet looked like a hot mess. I also had dinner plans in an hour so I just need to finish. Arrgh. This experience was my worst pedicure treatment ever. When she cleaned my other toes with an alcohol swab, it was tingling/burning. So that tells me she did cut me. I think it's this nail technician, needs to be re-trained or cut loose. She's a liability. And my bad luck! Too heavy handed with the cuticle cutter as well. Worst part besides her treating the bleeding with something, she only apologized once for that. Pedicure itself was bad too. Even paid extra for the quick dry and it didn't dry! The first girl was working on my nails - she didn't know really what she was doing - kind of dug deep Then they gave me lyn - lyn is knowledgeable and skilled more than the others. She worked thoroughly and did pretty good work. I would come back to her. Mid work there was another customer who booked lyn and they kind of shrugged her off and didn't appreciate her time or value. She was angry and upset and sat around literally an hour and half - they tried working on her but nobody was able to do extensions and powder apparently. I felt they could have took better care of her maybe a message or were more empathetic. It kind of ruined my experience even though I had the best nail tech that they had. I was surprised the manager couldn't do the work and step in- I guess she just oversees operations. All in all lyn deserves good review as her work was nice . But the way they don't value a customer even though it wasn't me- I was uncomfortable for the girl who made the apt and was there on time and ruined her day to do her nails. This is my 3rd nail place I've been to since moving to NYC. It is close to my apartment so I thought I would try it out. It is quite pricey and more expensive than the 2 others I have been to near me. They have multiple signs saying to tip & pay in cash and stare at you/hover over you to make sure you are tipping. The gel colors are all thrown together in a bin and it is very difficult to see them. I picked a color and they were apparently out of it. Picked another color which was not the same when she put it on my nails. It did not feel clean or sanitary either. The manicure itself was pretty decent. She did a good job shaping my nails but she definitely missed some of the tips with the polish. In NYC on holiday and needed a fill for my existing acrylic set soooo bad. Scoured midtown for a good nail salon that would meet all my extremely high standards. I've been consistently getting acrylics done for years now, and I can confidently say this salon knocked it out of the park. First of all, really clean and well kept. Super comfortable leather seats and no messes or shady stuff anywhere. They have a huge selection of gel colors and lots of OPI gels (nude shades specifically) which is strangely hard to find back home in the Bay Area. I didn't know that they weren't doing a classic acrylic fill and they did the dip powder technique instead. I was surprised at first but I'm a wholehearted convert now. My nail tech was Jiesse and I have to say, she is impressively talented and I can't praise her enough for her precision and attention to detail. I mean the proof is in the pics. The only downside is that this fill was about $70 not including tip, but honestly I'm never stingy about coughing up the dough for worthy work, and this was an extremely happy & east purchase for me. Do not go here for waxing!!! I'm so lucky I just did my eyebrows. I came here yesterday to get a pedicure and my eyebrows waxed. The massage chair is great, and they were prompt. This place is close to my work, so it's convenient and that's the reason I went here in particular. The area underneath my eyebrows was left red and raw. It's a wound so I can't cover it with makeup, I tried. Yesterday it burned badly and was very noticeable. It's obviously still an issue and still burns when I put lotion on my face. The wax was $10 and afterwards she didn't put aloe or any soothing product on. I've had a pedicure here once before and it only lasted two weeks; I've gone other places where the polish did not chip so soon. I wanted to try a new nail salon so I came here. I got the $50 Lavendar Pedicure which wasn't worth it so much. I feel as though the technician made my feet worse. At most I've paid $50 for that but not $82. While she's doing my nails at least 3 girls walked in complaining about their chipped nails from the gel or dip powder after being serviced a few days prior. So of course I was nervous about my finish product. I had to keep telling myself "it's okay, your not getting color" So by the time the lady is about to finish I'm constantly checking to make sure it looks pretty. But no, the corners (edges of my nail) are no crisp and clean. There are gaps so clearly I'm gonna have to go back by the end of next week for it to look fresh again. I'm so disappointed. Went to Sogo to get my nails done today since it's my birthday!! Made an appointment for 9:30am. I arrived at 9:35am and I was the only customer and I was greet by two lovely ladies. The salon is clean and tidy. Conveniently located off the Lex & 53 stop off the E train. Amy ended up doing my manicure and pedicure and she was great!! They do use plastic covers for the pedicure sinks but the only thing I will say is they use these flimsy paper slippers so next time I will bring my own flip flops! Also they use napkins to separate your toes during polish so I will also have to bring my toe dividers next time. Other then that my pedicure was fine. My gel color manicure was great has well. I didn't get exactly the design I needed because Amy said she only does straight gel, no designs . They told me to next time make an appointment for ombré sns powder because only one person in the salon does that!! So fore warming if you are trying to get something fancy done, tell them when you make the appointment so they can have the appropriate people their.
