I can't rave about Mega Nail (and Winnie, my nail tech) enough!! Mega Nail is a bright, beautiful space in Hell's Kitchen and they're doing a nice 10% off deal Mondays and Tuesdays from 10-2. I walked in on a day I didn't have too much time, and was able to get a seat pretty immediately. The prices here are definitely not cheap, but the quality you get makes it so worth it. My GelX extensions lasted me five weeks with no chipping, and after that I got a regular gel mani that has lasted me three so far with no signs of peeling. The techs treat your nails with care and respect and they know their stuff in terms of what's trendy and what will last. Salon is nice and feels clean. Nail techs were pleasant. However, my $55 dip powder manicure did not last even one week. On day 7 I had two nails fall off completely cleanly. I went in and they fixed them without any fuss, although I did have to wait 30 minutes. The next day another nail came off. Very annoying. I went to get my nails done before my Disney trip. Saw a design online that I loved and stopped by the salon to see if they could do the design. Without hesitation they said they could and booked me on a Friday. I am glad I went in early and made an appointment. When I arrived on Friday they were super busy but did not make me feel rushed at all. My nail technician was Cece she was so great. She even thought the same as me when I showed her the sample photo the base color was too dark and would not match my skin tone right so she adjusted. The designs were exactly how I wanted them. I've gotten my nails done here a number of times and I'm always happy with the work they do. My gel x manicures last over a month-- I only get them redone because of how much my nails grow out in that time. I've never had a nail break or lift. The worst! I was foolish to believe that 29 minutes was really 20 minutes. It was 49 minutes. I should have gone to Sophia's on W 56. This place is a factory and it seemed like everyone was getting gel and I just wanted a regular manicure. I appreciated them accommodating a same day appointment. The salon was cute with great ambience and looked clean. The prices were a little on the high side. The pedicure was listed as $38 and then all of a sudden they asked whether I wanted a jasmine or vanilla scrub. When I asked if that was the regular basic pedicure they told me yes. I didn't realize until I went to pay that I was charged $56 which was confusing as the price was listed as $38 on the wall behind the register. And the scrub really wasn't necessary. When I went to pay they kept asking for cash and eventually accepted visa which was weird as an establishment that they wouldn't accept Amex. I ended up paying a lot more than I was expecting but I didn't argue it since the lady who did my nails was sweet and provided good service. But it was sketchy that a nail salon has an atm inside. I decided to leave this review after my dip powder manicure began to chip less than a week later. My dip always lasts at least two weeks which is why I'm such a fan of the dip. However after paying over $55 For a manicure I'd expect better results. read more

Bad experience overall. No customer service at all. The salon is overloaded and keeps rushing. Took a pedicure and the lady cut my toes with scissors, when trying to remove dead skin. Not pleasant or apologetic. Fixed it half assed and didn't offer me any consolation. A few days later everything started to get ruined and I came back to have it fixed. It was my first time trying out the salon and unfortunately I didn't have the best experience. My nails turned out uneven with their length and the shape wasn't what I wanted either - usually at other salons my techs will always look at my nails and file down accordingly but now my nails look a bit silly with the different length. The tech/owner also skipped steps like massage and lotion and oil. I felt rushed and not valued as a paying customer especially when short cuts are taken throughout the manicure.
