Perfect smash burger, added tomato and lettuce and loved it. Place was packed but only waited about 10 minutes for our order and ate at the counter. Fries were good, seasoned well and crispy. Friendly staff!
I think this is such a let down in such a saturated market of smash burgers in LA. These are just boring and have nothing to set them apart. The pickles are pretty good, but overall pass and pick another smash burger for better and cheaper.
10/10 I had this place at smorgasbord before and have been looking for them . Imagine my surprise they have a store !!! In usc village to say the least !! Perfect location .. welcoming staff when you enter . Menu very understandable Outside eating area over inside
I love it when a place lets you order at the register and then they bring it out to you. We sat in the patio and it was the best choice tbh. To our surprise they brought out corn bread. It was solid cornbread with some butter the butter did not really have a taste so it would be great if they once day made it flavored. My partner had the blackened chicken sandwich and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The fries are thin and have pizza like seasoning. They were pretty tasty but their ketchup is not chilled and that matters to me. My chicken sandwich was great if anything it may have been a tiny over cooked but honestly with everything in the plate it was great. The pickle chips were sooo pickle. They cut them in shears so if you like the taste of pickled you will love these. They literally were the perfect pair to our entrees. My parter also had the strawberry lemonade and if you are a fan of stuff stronger in strawberry taste please skip the lemonade. Overall we were so pleased with the food it got us excited to come back to try non chicken products.
Never even heard of Softies. At first I thought it was an ice cream place. We walked in to check it out and it's a cute little diner looking place that serves smash burgers. It's located in the USC village. If you are looking for a smash burger, this is your place. I really like the crispy edges. If you like mushrooms.. you have to try the shroom burger! It was amazing. It's a burger with a crispy tempura battered enoki mushroom. You can also order it without the beef patty. All the flavors of the sauce, cheese, mushroom and meat blended very well. The fries were a little over cooked but still good. I didn't get the cashiers name (Asian guy who goes to USC.. not sure if that helps lol).. I wish I did because he was super friendly and had great customer service. When we came in (It was a Thursday around noon) we were only the second one in line but then a flood of students came in.. about a line of 20, so we got super lucky. The food came over pretty fast as well. I will definitely come back when coming to visit. If you've never been here... you must go and try it!!
I ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap and it tasted really good. I put ranch to made it extra creamy. My only small complaint is I wish there was a little more chicken, it felt slightly light compared to the amount of vegetables. The Crispy Shroom was also really good! Super crispy and nicely seasoned. Definitely something I would order again. The interior is very cute and cozy, and they also offer 2 hours of free parking, which is a huge plus. Overall, a solid spot for a quick bite and I'd come back to try more items.
Yum!! Caesar salad is a treat!!! I would skip the chicken (since that's $4 extra and it didn't blow my mind) and order the salad with a single burger. Those two make a great meal. Tater tots are the perfect companion to your burger. I really liked them. My friend enjoyed the shroom burger a lot! She's vegetarian. Plenty of seating and they got our food out quickly at 6PM on a weekday.
I initially had Softies when they were a vendor at Smorgasburg and had been hooked ever since! So hearing they finally opened up shop at the USC village, I was excited to stop on by. When visiting, parking is 2 hours free at the USC village lot w/o validation (located underneath the village itself)! Food: I've had each of the burgers and each of them are still a standout and the prices are about average for a smashburger spot (between $9-13) in LA. Service: Service was quick but fairly hands-off. The space was empty when we arrived, our order took about 10 minutes. Overall, Softies has still got it. The burgers are awesome, the sides stand on their own, while the cookie and salad wrap felt a bit more understated. Here's what I ordered: Aji Double Burger ($13): Really really good. The aji verde sauce was creamy and rich, pickled jalapenos were sweet with a nice bite, and the burger itself had the perfect lacy edge that most smashburgers miss. Tots ($5): Crispy and light, seasoned with a Lawry's-esque seasoning salt. Yum. Chicken Caesar Wrap($14): Straightforward. Didn't quite stand out as much. Brown butter espresso chocolate chip cookie ($3.75): A bit burned, but still had a good salty-chocolate flavor. Grand total ~$40.12 (tax included)
Great spot for casual burgers with unique flavors. Price isn't too bad and they've got lots of seating both indoors and outdoors so you can bring your dog if you'd like. Service is helpful and fairly quick. Favorite thing I've had here so far is the aji burger -- super flavorful and a little spicy.
for two combo meals (burger + fries or tater toots + a canned drink) was $40. not worth it. the burger was okay, i got their aji burger because i wanted to try new kind of burger. it was a fine burger, nothing worth bragging about. same for their toots and fries. we could only order to-go despite ordering an hour before they were closing...i guess everyone was thrilled to go home that day. we still eat there because we still had a hour.. before they closed. most tables were dirty. if you're looking for a good burger spot, i would keep looking.
Very fresh. Seems to be made on demand. This is nearly a cursed location in the village. I mean it has been 3 burger joints in 6 years BUT this one has by far, the very best service of them all. The Texan on the register made the jalapeño burger recommendation. True smash burger with crispy edges. Tasty. I was looking for more citrus punchy flavor or a bright/freshness to it but very clean vibe, nice restrooms and convenient. Excellent prices.
Great burgers and unique flavors! I tried the mushroom burger and it was really good but my stomach did hurt because of all the fried food Overall really good, would go back and loved the vibe in there too
Had the aji burger, it's not bad for a lunch in USC. The place just opened up, it's clean and bright. Fries are nicely seasoned.

As of now, September 2026, this is the best burger I have ever eaten. We got the Cali burger. It comes with grilled onions, Softies sauce, pickles and white American cheese on a Martin's Potato Bun. Let's get the obvious out of the way. In order for your burger to be as good as possible, it has to be on a Martin's Potato Bun. The white American cheese Softies uses melts better than any cheese I have ever had on a burger. My Wife made the comment and I agreed, the way the cheese melts along with the grilled onions makes this better taste like a cheesesteak during some bites. The pickles are also really really good. The combo of grilled onions, sauce, pickles and melted cheese would be great on almost any burger however; the way in which Softies preps the pickles, the cheese they use and the cook of the patties makes the perfect burger. What really added to the meal were the fries and the limonada. Most places you get a really really good burger or really really good fries. Softies have both. The fries were hot, crispy and contained a really good seasoning. The limonada is made in house and accompanied the meal really well. This place is located on USC's campus. So the atmosphere is great. The employees were really nice and seem to be genuinely happy. Service was also quick, especially for it being packed on a gameday. read more
Okay, this place rules. Smash burgers, fries and Stevie Wonder playing on vinyl. That is basically the entire review. Burger had those properly annihilated crispy edges you want from a smash burger, soft bun, pickles, melted cheese and nothing unnecessary getting in the way. Fries were hot and crispy. Then you notice the turntable and Stevie Wonder sitting behind the counter and realize somebody here understands exactly what kind of restaurant they wanted to make. Would absolutely come back. read more

Awww man I've been rooting for them to finally have a store of their own during their pop-up times and they finally did it this year! Staff were friendly and such a clean place at USC Village makes it really great area to visit (lucky for USC students). We came in around 3PM on a Sunday and it wasn't a long wait to order or get their food. There were plenty of seats indoor and outdoors at the time. I always love their smash burgers but was wishing for their special burgers when I came. It did feel like the size of their burger was smaller compared to previous times I've had them. Nonetheless, still the best smash burgers I've ever had and can't wait to visit when I'm in the area (or hopefully they'll visit OC again). read more
Solid place for burgers in the area! I ordered their single cali burger and tater tots. Took around 10 minutes to get my order. Burger was solid but was not any awe amazing (7/10) $13 , did like the onions in it though. Tots, $5, were crunchy but wished they gave me more than 3 packets of ketchup. I also ordered a brown butter espresso cookie that was decent but not crazy good. Glad I tried this place on my burger quest but don't think it was that special where I would go out of my way to eat it again! read more
Softies has moved and found its home in USC village!! So excited cause now I don't need to wait till Sunday to eat it !!! Finally got to try their shroom burger and loaded tots (aji style) and geezzzzz they both did not disappoint. The shroom burger had so much crispiness and later getting the chewy texture of enoki mushrooms. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a patty too, didn't know that haha The tots were perfectly crispy too plus the aji sauce, patty bits, and jalapeños really made it. They also have this bottled hot sauce that has a nice sweetness to it. I'm really weak (for an Asian) with spice and this was not spicy for me at all. Others in my party got Aji burger double patty and Cali burger single patty as a combo and boy...1 person wished he had made his burger into a double patty ! Will definitely be back!! Super nice that there's 2h free parking there too esp for LA read more
Working at USC allows me to try the great food spots here at the Village a lot. Softies just opened up before the school year and I was fortunate enough to try it before the huge rushes that having all the students back on campus can bring. The burgers were amazing! Very yummy and have so much flavor. This was absolutely my favorite part about the entire meal! I recommend getting the tater tots as the fries are not the best compared to the tots. Even their employees recommend the tots over fries. The ranch there is delicious. Be prepared to pay extra for sauce. Food wise, you will definitely enjoy the experience. I even got the lime pie and it was incredible. When it comes to the wait time, it will be packed during peak lunch/rush hours. The prices are high but that's to be expected being at USC. You will enjoy the experience but again, the price will definitely be up there. I did feel full though after getting the burger, tater tots, and a soda. Definitely a once in a while spot for me but enjoyed the food forsure! Nice diner vibes for the environment. read more

I was in the USC village getting my nails done and wanted to grab food before going to Trader Joe's. I am trying to cut calories where I can, so I ordered the Cali burger on lettuce. Even without the bun it was delicious, so I know with the bun it is fire! Customer service was great! read more
i now understand the appeal of softies' aji single smash burger ($9), their most popular item on the menu besides the aji DOUBLE smash burger of course. potato bun = soft & warm patty = crispy & juicy but not overly oily aji verde sauce = sweet & savory with tiniest bit of kick i stopped by before 3 pm on a weekday, so i did not need to wait in line. service was quick with no frills. occupancy inside is capped at 88, but there is additional seating outdoors and throughout the plaza. read more
Was working at SC and walked across the street for a quick bite. At first I thought Softies was ice cream but glad it was a burger spot. The staff was kind and the spot was cool for a burger spot. We tried the: Cali: nice and fresh Crispy Shroom: the mushrooms were delicious and fried perfectly. Such a nice texture Fries: meh Peppercorn ranch: okay Aji: DELICIOUS! read more

As someone who can be picky with her fries, I really enjoyed these loaded fries! The seasoning was on point, and the aji definitely added a nice touch. They were a bit spicy for me, but still super flavorful. I could definitely see myself ordering them again! read more

OVERALL : I have not been to Smorgasburg in a while, but it was such a treat coming back! The food options are tasty, and there's a wide variety of options to pick from. Truly something for everyone! Casual, but lively spot to grab a Sunday lunch. This review is for Softies, a smashburger place that we just discovered located in Smorgasburg! They had a HUGE line on the day we came, but we knew this was a good sign since they had such a large fanbase. The staff were so kind and brought out brazilian lemonades for us to drink while waiting in line due to the wait times. We wanted to try their fish sando and it sold out while we were in line, so we chose an Aji burger instead. PARKING : This is a vendor located in Smorgasburg, an outdoor market hosted at the Row DTLA every Sunday 10am - 4pm. Park at the structure located on 777 Alameda St and it's free parking for the first 2 hrs! FOOD/DRINKS : Aji - We upgraded to double smash patties. beef chuck patty smashed with thinly sliced onions, cheese crisp bun, aji sauce (cilantro mayo with garlic and lime), white american cheese, pickled japapeno -- wow! such a tasty burger. despite being a smash burger, it didn't feel like it lacked protein at all. patties were prominent and so were the onions cooked into them! cheese, jalapeno, and the fluffies bun ever. the aji sauce is addicting! Super excited they are gonna graduate from Smorgasburg and open a brick and mortar now. i'll def be coming back to try different items! read more

I've been wanting to try Softies burger for quite a while now and it absolutely did not disappoint! I went on a rather busy day, but it was totally worth the wait. I had an aji burger with some fries and loved the way it was cooked to perfection. I could taste the freshness and care that went into crafting this smashburger. I will be back when I'm in the area! read more

I think the best smash burger in LA has been found! Right here at this spot guys. Definitely come check them out if you're in the area. They have a really cool 'humble beginnings' story as well read more
I've seen a couple of their instagram posts about their journey as a pop up and starting their own spot near USC and am always happy to support small local businesses. Everyone raved about the aji burger and I was looking forward to trying it --- I ordered it through DoorDash with the aji verde sauce on the side so it wouldn't get soggy but they forgot the sauce lmao. Burger was a little dry and bland so can't comment on how the burger is supposed to taste. I'm sure the aji sauce would have helped if I had it. Came with lettuce tomato jalapeños and I got a double. read more

Yet another viral burger spot in USC Village that was worth the trip. Interior and ambiance is barebones and clean. Service is good. Lunch menu is simple, just two different kinds of special burgers, a vegetarian option, chopped cheese sandwich, fries and tater tots. I got the Cali burger, grilled onions, American cheese, a special garlicky sauce and a potato bun. It was fantastic. Crispy edges and great flavor. If I'd only gotten the burger I would've given it five stars, but I got the fries and they were terrible. They tasted cheap and frozen, made even worse when paired with the curly fries spice concoction they're tossed with. Go for the burger and skip the fries. read more
My friend and I stopped in on 9/27 before a concert we were attending in the area! Softies was SO good! The yellow pepper ranch was delicious and so was the yuzu mayo! The staff were friendly and it was a cool place to hangout and eat! I would definitely come back! One of the best burgers I've had! read more

We came to BMO to see Seventeen perform and wanted a place close by to eat before the concert. My friend recommended Softies Burger so we walked over from BMO. Its located right next to USC, in a really cool spot. My friends each got a different burger and we each loved our burgers. I went with the Cali burger which was surprisingly pretty reasonably priced for LA. I also got a side of tater tots bc i LOVE tots (a la Napeoleon Dynamite). It was sooo good - i think its the sauce and pickles that make it - oh and the grilles onions. DEEELISH. I hope thy open a location in OC because i would definitely be a regular. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

If you like smash-style burgers, you'll love this spot. The meat has that amazing 'burnt' crust on the outside while staying flavorful. It's not overly greasy; just that perfect, classic burger taste. That crispy texture is everything! read more
