Galbi Jjim breakfast burrito
Peter C.

Glad my wife and I finally got to try the infamous breakfast burrito! Only took a couple months of trying to pre-order on their website. The burrito is perfectly executed and well thought out. Soufflé egg is nice and creamy, the short rib is rich and flavorful, the tater tots provide a tasty crunch, and the tortilla is perfectly toasted. I love that they give two sauces and pickles onions, they really complement the burrito so well. Onions provide a nice acid to balance the richness. The cilantro crema is super refreshing and the habanero gochujang salsa gives me the kick I desire. I used both sauces and a piece of onion for the perfect bite each time. Looking forward to next time and I hope to try new items that chef comes up with!

Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. We placed a pre order around 5 days before our pick up date and were so lucky to secure our order, as it sold out within minutes. There was a slight delay when we came to pick up our food at idyllic cafe so we did have to wait an extra hour. It wasn't too bad though because we were able to explore the cafe, which had a bunch of retro cars and a ton of things to look at. The employees there were all so kind tho and you could really tell that they care about the business. I was able to chat w them for a bit after getting our order and they were some of the nicest people ever despite the stress they were probably going thru with being behind on orders. As for the burrito itself, it came out piping hot so we tried it immediately. It was the perfect balance of textures and flavors -- the crispy tater tots, soft and fluffy egg custard, and the sweet and savory Galbijim. I really loved that the meat wasn't too sweet or too salty -- it was perfectly balanced and the burrito held up really well when we ate it. Also THE SAUCES!! The cilantro lime crema added a freshness to the burrito and the gochugaru habenero salsa was so unique and added the perfect kick. It came with pickled onions as well which helped to cut through the heaviness of the burrito (I wish it came with more tho). All in all, super positive experience w the service and the food. I know they used to have a couple other menu items so I would be curious to try those or any new menu items that the team creates!

I've been dying to try this spot and after a few attempts of preordering, I finally was able to get them. The burrito has high quality ingredients and you can tell they care about the details. The tater tots are sooo crispy and honestly my favorite part of the burrito. The "galbijjim" reminds me of a pulled brisket, it was on the salty side to balance with the sweetness of the steamed eggs. The burrito comes with a creamy cilantro salsa, gochujang haberno salsa, and pickled onions. This pop up was held at idyllic coffee, it was very warm in the warehouse. There was free street parking that wasn't difficult to find. ig: @cravingswithcat

Finally. A place you can get your galbi-jjim without shelling $50+. I got the burrito, sando, mango lemonade, and matcha einspanner. All were 10/10, no exaggeration. The tortilla was perfectly chewy with a grilled crisp, the egg was fluffy, and the meat was moist and tender. The pickled onions, green onions, and choice of three sauces made for a different bite each time. My favorite was the crema. Drinks were so good. Perfect balance of zing and sweet in the lemonade. My GF is picky about her matcha, but loved this one. You can tell everything is made from scratch and with love. Chef himself is also really kind. Trust me, just come and try one of best breakfast burritos in LA at the moment.

I tried the Galbi Jjim Breakfast Sando and WOW, this was seriously a 10/10. The braised sweet-savory Korean short rib was tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with the fluffy custard eggs, green onions, and cotija cheese on a soft brioche bun. The sando itself was already amazing, but the sauces took it to another level. Chef Josh made two sauces, a cilantro lime crema and a sweet chili garlic aioli, and I tried each on its own, but the real magic was mixing them together. Every bite was rich, balanced, and insanely good. Honestly one of the best breakfast sandos I've had. I'm definitely going back again soon. Order @kangskuisine on IG!!

It genuinely takes a great restaurant for me to give a 5-star, let alone leave a review. Kang's Kuisine is one breakfast I would recommend any Angeleno tries. As of now, you have to DM their Instagram to order and the process is really smooth. Now onto the food review. The best things on the menu are the breakfast burrito and the mango lemonade. First, the burrito - the short rib is so flavorful without being too greasy. Extra points because there are tater tots inside. The green sauce on the side was my favorite and paired beautifully. This burrito gives the Doubting Thomas' braised meat burrito a total run for its money. Similar in many way but Kang's is way better and way less greasy. And the mango lemonade? He definitely uses some kind of pure mango puree that's not overly sweet with just the right ratio of mango to lemonade. I wanted to order like 3 more. I've also tried the breakfast sandwich - same contents as the burrito but on a good brioche bun. I really loved the creamy/soft egg - it's in a rectangle shape which makes it easy to eat and not fall apart. The matcha was also yummy and tasted just like a cafe's matcha. Overall, I would recommend. I drove all the way from the westside and don't regret it. Will be returning soon!

Kang Kuisine is the real deal.Grabbed a breakfast burrito and the breakfast burger this morning and both were outstanding - fresh, loaded, and absolutely delicious. Josh was so friendly and quick. Best breakfast in a long time. Follow them and go whenever they pop up!

My friend and I visit on occasion and enjoy their Clam Kalguksu, which is a dish you may not find at other Kalguksu places. The clams are always fresh, clean and free of sand. I'm always impressed with how well they can mask the clamminess and taste of the sea with the spices in this dish. Their other dishes like bossam and chicken porridge. The bossam is decent, though I wouldn't recommend the chicken porridge. The chicken porridge gets thick and dry fairly easily. If you don't enjoy it fast, it will become a chore to eat! During rush hour, you may also need to get your own utensils / ladle because the staff may forget. Plan also to eat fast, too, because they may subtly rush you with the bill... after all, they do often get lines out the door!

It is pretty elegant inside, away from the shabbiness that most older strip malls in this area now reflect. I came with my daughter's father-in-law (SJ) for a weekend lunch, and we really enjoyed it. Kobawoo is named after the main character in a famous Korean satirical comic strip, with the name evoking resiliency in Korean culture, just like what the owners wanted for their restaurant. It has a nice modern website, with one page menu appearing with pictures. We took the Metro so didn't need to worry about parking (which was already packed) and were seated right away. Pretty much everyone inside were speaking Korean, and it was actually pretty quiet inside with a low key vibe (no flaming cheese or sizzling plates here). SJ ordered for us, getting the Combo Bossam ($75.99). The normal part was boiled pork belly with napa cabbage (both boiled plain and uncut pickled), pickled daikon, radish kimchi and wraps, and salt fermented shrimp. The combo portion added steamed skate and glazed pork feet (hock). We got to choose the steamed rice accompaniment, either white or purple. Later we got a large bottle of Cass Beer ($9.99) to share. Four banchans came immediately with the rice, and all were excellent: I really liked the egg omelet dish (def taking more than my share) and the cut napa kimchi. There was a bit of a lull, then the feet came out next. then the skate next, the main plate of pork belly with toppings last. The pork belly was served slightly warm, with the rest of the food being room temp (or cold). I enjoyed the pork belly, not so much the skate (didn't realize how gelatinous and [edible] boney it is) and the pork feet (served cold hock, not my favorite as the ratio of collagen/fat to muscle was too much for my taste, but glad I got to try it). Even though we ate meat from the most fatty/gelatinous parts of the pig, none of it was overly greasy. The ability to customize to get levels of spice and structure is what makes this so good. Each bite was an adventure, and I really enjoyed trying different combo wraps with the various ingredients laid out in front. Was glad that we had a booth for four, allowing us to spread out. We definitely ordered too big for the two of us, bringing a lot of it home. They have more affordable lunch specials as well, but it being a Saturday was not available. They do have the traditional dishes served by Korean restaurants (Kalbi, BibimBap, and JJigae). They are also known for their their jun (pancakes). Service was good, with them only coming over when asked. We had a lot to catch up on, and never felt hurried as we casually enjoyed our food and drink. They brought over take home containers once we asked, and paid at the table. The servers wished us well as we left, and we noticed how the parking situation had gotten even more hectic from the time we came in. The restaurant appears in Eater's 'Classic Los Angeles Restaurants Every Angeleno Must Try' list, specifically for the boiled pork belly dish. Bossam isn't usually the dish most folks think of when choosing Korean food. If it is, this restaurant certainly is the place to come to.

As a party of 3, we all ordered the set menu with barley rice, and I could not even begin to tell you how shocked I was when the waitress brought out the food. It was dish after dish after dish, and by the end of it, the entire table was completely filled with food. All the dishes were well flavored and complemented each other nicely. I really enjoyed that you can mix everything together and create your own combination of flavors depending on what you're in the mood for. There's a nice variety of textures and flavors, so the meal never felt repetitive. To get some protein (and fat lol), we also ordered the bossam. The pork belly was cooked perfectly... tender, juicy, and flavorful. It paired really well with the crispy cabbage and pickled vegetables, which helped cut through the richness of the pork. Overall, this was a really satisfying meal. You get a ton of food for the price, the flavors are solid, and the experience was really unique. Definitely a great spot to come with a group so you can enjoy the variety of dishes together.

Down the line, I realized that the set was basically a bunch of ban chan. Some were interesting because other Korean restaurants don't serve it. We were advised to use it to create our own bibimbap. The perilla porridge stood out most. I never had perilla porridge. The taste was unique. It had chicken inside. The small cup of pumpkin soup was yummy. The soybean soup (fermented soy bean stew) had a very pungent smell. I wanted to enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the smell and not comfortable with the taste. Wish they gave an option to choose from different stews. The desserts were good. I also like their plum tea/juice. The galbi was well marinated. Not as tender as I was hoping for, but it was still delicious. With the price, I do feel like the set should include a dish of meats. Especially since the restaurant requires 2 people at $34 each for the set. If you go 3 people, prob more worth it. Overall, it was a fun experience. Service was great.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
