Extremely popular& busy spot! I'm on a business trip and it's close to my hotel. The menu looked delicious & the Yelp reviews were good. I ordered the churrasco steak with black beans, homemade fries and yellow rice. The steak was fine, the sides were cold. I asked the guy to just bring out an order of beans and I threw the rest away. So disappointed! Maybe the extensive sandwich and arepa menu would've been a better choice. An expensive lesson to learn. If you would like to read while you solo dine this is NOT the place. This review reflects the 2nd visit, the 1st visit was phenomenal therefore a speedy second was in order. We were not as impressed the second time. I ordered their fried Snapper, nothing to brag about or critique, it was okay but not recommended. My wife had the Churrasco, she said it was a bit tough and a bit cold, she wanted me to try but I declined. The server upfront confused my order of two orders of croquettes, two croquettes were brought out instead of two orders of four croquettes, understandable as I'm getting confused myself writing the order, lol. They corrected the order but didn't have the 8 croquettes I wanted, the replacement was an empanada. The second batch of croquettes were cold in the inside, I didn't complain, I waited for them to get room temperature. The first visit was worthy of 5 stars but the second visit was disappointing. 2020 and 2021 have had me back and forth from ATL to Orlando. Every trip, first day, I go to Sofrito and get the Roast Pork (+ black beans, yellow rice and plantains). It is so good that I start thinking about it when I leave ATL. I am sure they do other things well, but I don't care - I love the roast pork. The best part? $10.75 gets me enough for 2 nights of hotel dinner. Don't change. I love you just the way you are. (except when I am late getting into town and you close at 8P). read more

I was looking for a casual restaurant with great Latin food, and was so happy to find Sofrito Latin Cafe. Any of the arepas are good. Any of the meats are good. Any of the sides are good. Basically, everything is good! I know the dishes are supposed to be tapas, but the portions are pretty big in my opinion. You order at the counter, take a number, sit anywhere. Someone brings out your food when ready. There are also games to play while waiting, I mean, games for kids to play while waiting. read more

Well what a nice surprise! Thinking this was going a Americanized version of Hispanic food I had low expectations. Since it was across from my hotel and I was starving I went for it. First, the staff was friendly and attentive. Second the menu was diverse and from many country's basic street food. The Cachito from Venezuela was awesome. The black beans and yellow rice were just right. The Cuban sandwich which guy next to me didn't look like our Miami style but he loved it. And finally the mini Quesitos from PR were a perfect sweet treat. The Presidente though brewed by Anheiser in the US tasted like the Dominican original! I am sold! read more

super helpful server that gave great recommendations! we are from out of town so this was super helpful because the menu was a little overwhethe cheese empanada was a bit too much cheese for me, but would be a good sharing option! the cubano and tripleta sandwich were amazing! perfectly toasted without cutting the roof of your mouth up. the colombian beef empanada was super tasty and had really flavorful filling. we had churros, vanilla flan, & the nutella empanada for dessert which were all super yummy! read more

Food was so amazing that we came 2 nights in a row. Everything including the kids menu was on point. The service was amazing and we would have ate there more if we had found this place sooner. Ordered takeout dinner right before store close. The in-store ordering experience was really great, giant touch screen was simple and easy to use, wait time was reasonable. Staff was very helpful and gladly replaced an order I made by mistake, way after it was placed. Most of all, the food quality was beyond what I'd expect from a moderate place with a moderate price. When I opened the thoughtfully packed food in my hotel room 15 min later, food looked and smelled as if fresh out of kitchen (and steaming hot). I ordered a variety of things on the menu to feed the family, everything was so "just right", the seafood soup was especially memorable. We wanted to go back after our park visits but they close too early (around 9 pm), that's our only regret. read more

AMAZING FOOD! Even the kids tenders and fries was yummy! I ordered the cachapa with beef. Amazing good. Croquetas were fresh and delicious along with Cuban bread tostada which is bread with butter. The service was fast and a little different. So you order at the register and pay there. Once you are given the number you can sit where ever you please. This was a different concept- order food as you walk in and pay before finding a table to sit at with a number stick. Pay via kiosk or staff at the front. We arrived on a hot Saturday mid afternoon, so outdoor seating was available right away but we waited for an indoor table to become available. My boyfriend was not too pleased with that a tip was asked when we paid for our order, yet we had not sat or received our order. We had to find where utensils were kept. The food was decent. I was in search of some amazing hispanic food and happy I found it. I ordered the Churrasco which was plenty of food with three sides. However, the ordering was a bit odd. Your approached by a gentleman asking if you have been there then he gives you a menu, you stand in the middle over looking the menu which I felt a bit rushed, I am happy I looked at the menu prior to getting there. The food was then brought out to us which I really enjoyed my Churrasco (grilled skirt steak topped with chimichurri sauce) plate. I asked someone for a side plate and took about 5 mins to get one. I also ordered the mini papas rellena they were okay tasted a little off. The nutella empanada was great it came out nice and warm and just the right amount of nutella. The food is AWESOME! We tried the Venezuelan empanada with beef and the Colombian empanada. They were both delicious but we really loved the Colombian. We also had the Colombian burger, Cachapa, Pabellon Criollo, the Picada for two, Churrasco, and Sopa de Pollo. Absolutely everything was top notch delicious, and their sauces!!! So good! My only complaint is that with our party of 7, all of our food came out at different times. we ordered ahead online to-go and it's extremely busy for Sunday brunch so we are glad we did. We ordered 3 eggs/ham/cheese or eggs/bacon/cheese sandwiches in Cuban bread. Overall, very little filling and very dry. We ordered some avocados in one of the sandwiches but it was served on the side and still unripe :(. Cafe con leche was decent but nothing amazing. We also preserved couple of empanadas and those were better. This is about 1/2 noche better than the free bfasts at some of the nearby hotels. read more

Excellent food. The hostess/cashier recommended the pork which was more than she could eat and was excellent. It was comparable to a Boston butt smoked to perfection - moist, tender and flavorful. We asked for some hot sauce and the waitress was happy to bring two saucers; one habanero based and the other I didn't catch. The habanero was hot, but flavorful. The other one was too hot for me - hiccup inducing. I had steak arepas which was perfect. Steak was tender. Tomato's and onions were cooked to perfection. Flavor was great, but the habanero hot sauce set it off. The staff were pleasant and genuinely happy to serve and to please. I speak ok English with a heavy Mississippi/north Florida accent and they spoke pretty the King's English with a heavy Hispanic accent. They managed to understand us perfectly. And we both agree on the definition of great food! We'll head back next time we're in town! read more

We just went for the first time today. There were so many choices and everything we ended up getting hit the spot. We got tequeños, patacon, a Cuban sandwich and an empanada. Surprisingly one of the best latin/hispanic restaurants in Orlando. That's definitely saying something because I usually don't trust the food around the Disney area but this one has been a family favorite. Over the years they've changed it from a real restaurant feel to more of a order at the kiosk stands and then grab a seat somewhere (which I love as someone who doesn't love socializing). We always get the patacon and it's fantastic! The cocktails are also great and have a fantastic price (though I'm not much of a drinker!). I love this place's guava juice but that's mostly just because I love guava. We're Argentinian so we refuse to try any empanada that's over $1 (we make them great at home) + we have cheaper options for most of the foods so unfortunately we'll never end up trying most of the starter items here but all the entrees are great and fairly priced. read more

Just arrived from KC and we were hungry. Drove around and saw this spot and I do love Latin food. Sofrito did not disappoint!!! My husband and I got the Cuban sand which with ham, pulled pork Swiss cheese and pickles on crispy Cuban bread. Best ever! Both of us were only able to eat half but saved the rest. And, since they have breakfast, tried it again in the morning. Argentina cheese and spinach empanada with cafe Americano. Coffee is smooth and rich. (We are doing a mini staycation at the Holiday Inn Express). I ordered the roasted pork. It was so dang moist (I said it) and so flavorful. It was a giant mound of pulled pork. It also came with 3 sides and a side salad all for under $10. The portions were amazing! The food so flavorful!! I also ordered the Cuban chicken empanada and OMG SO GOOD! Let's talk about Sofrito! I loved the food! My friend and I ordered the patacón with shredded beef and it was really good. The services was good as well... I didn't give them 5 stars as we order some of the natural juice and neither my friend and I thought it was completely natural. It was good tho and we we drink it all. But not really wat we were hoping for. I also order coffee towards the end of our visit and that was also ok. I got the cafe con leche iced and it was mainly milk, which I don't really like. Even if my coffee is iced I like to taste the coffee a bit more. I'm really picky with my coffee so I encourage you to try it , you might have a different experience. Overall, this is a great place for lunch, brunch, or just to eat a yummy meal . I like how they have different types of foods from different Latin American countries. Another little gem found thanks to Yelp. Visiting Orlando for the Food & Wine Fest, we decided to do a quick stop at Downtown Disney before heading back home. Before that, we all started getting hungry so got on Yelp, looked for "nearby restaurants" and just 1.3 miles away was Sofrito. We are all Latin, and the two guys that aren't in our group are married to Latins so, we all agreed this would be perfect for us. We go in around 1pm. Since it wasn't busy we got to pick whichever table we wanted. Group of 7, moved some tables together and we were comfortably looking at the menu, trying to decide what to eat since everything sounded delicious. Server comes to the table, explains the menu to us and their restaurant concept. It's pretty casual, grab a sit, look at the menu and order and pay at the bar. They have some wine, beers, fresh juice, sodas, tea, coffee. Appetizers, Sandwiches, Sides, and Entrees (this last one comes with 3 sides). On the Fresh Juice section I saw they have Passion Fruit and immediately ordered it. I would have liked less sugar on mine but flavor was great! I'm always happy with Real Passion Fruit. Beers, they have some on tap, and some bottles, including Medalla Light & Presidente, showing they are really a Latin place. Also the bottles of Frescolita, Malta India and others are proof of this. From the appetizers we tried the Argentinian Empanadas... My favorite was the spinach and cheese but, not sure why they add sugar on top. I would take that off, it kind of distracts your mouth from the key flavors. Also LOVED the Guava & Cheese Mini Taqueños - these we had for dessert (they have dessert menu but we this was just calling our names). You MUST order these. All but one of us ordered sandwiches, we all really liked what we ordered but the winner, was the Cuban Sandwich. They guy who ordered it could not stop raving about it and all who tried it agreed it was amazing. I personally was really happy with my Tripleta Sandwich (using traditional Mayaguez recipe) with pastrami, ham, roast pork, Gouda, sautéed onions, cabbage, tomato, mayo-ketchup, and potato sticks on the side. This is an explosion of flavors in your mouth and, even though the Cuban was a favorite, I would order this one again and again. Others on the table ordered the Media Noche which looked just like I used to have in PR, and that is a very good thing, and one ordered the Chicken Entrée - presentation was really nice and she said it was cooked perfectly. As sides, the plantains were a total hit. Tostones, Yuca both fried and boiled were delicious, the fries were another favorite - perfectly crispy. Service was quick and friendly. Food came out hot and fast. Prices are great! We were all extremely glad to find this place and make our way back home with full and happy bellies. I am truly sad this place is 3 hours away from me. I would love to have it close and make it a "usual lunch spot". For those near it, lucky you! And for those visiting Orlando (parks, or for whatever other reason) bookmark this place.
