My husband is Puerto Rican, I am Colombian and the friend we came here with is Peruvian. We each ordered an authentic plate of our country and we were pleasantly surprised. Usually a restaurant that offers a wide variety of Spanish food never actually delivers (taste wise) to what is ordered but again we were surprised how authentic our plates were. Great tasting, portion was hefty (we took home leftovers) and food came out quick! As a local I do feel it was overpriced but makes perfect sense considering it's in a touristy area. Now when it comes to cleanliness bathrooms weren't in the best condition and upon sitting down we noticed the trash can close to the bar was overflowing . Employees simply pushed the trash down but continued to throw trash in a noticeably full and ready to take out trash bin. They have indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. Ur it does get pretty full. Ate here when I was on a conference in Orlando. I was a little taken-aback that everything was ordered by a touch screen menu but the service was fast and all of my food was amazing. Upon entering the restaurant, we were a little perplexed. We were informed that before you sit, you need to order your food from a kiosk or from the cashier, make payment and find yourself a seat. Because this was our first time in the restaurant and the menu was relatively large, we needed time to decide what we wanted. So we stood looking at the menu and tried not to be in the way while people streamed in. The area near the door got pretty congested. It seemed that many others, like us, were not familiar with the system here. We were a little overwhelmed by the time we placed our order. But we found a seat and it was fine. It won't be a problem for us on our next visit. We understand now how it works. Our food came out fairly quickly. We had one Argentinian and one Colombian empanada. Both were outstanding. I had the churrasco entree which was so tender, juicy and full of flavor. This was simply delicious. My husband had the Roast Pork entree which was a little on the dry side, but had good flavor. So I decided to give this place another try after 3 years. And my opinion has changed. I have been 2 times since and being vegetarian, I am happy there are a couple things for me to eat. Just be patient with them! The food is great. It can be a little expensive but the portions are great for what you're paying. There's indoor and outdoor sitting. My review before this was based on the fact they sent all of our food out as it was ready and it took forever for everyone to finally eat. I was craving a Cuban sandwich and I found exactly what I needed here. Tried another place locally with good reviews and the sandwich flat out was trash. So I came here for redemption and I got it. After a long day at Disney, we were looking for some good food to take back to our hotel. Sofrito was highly recommended on Yelp and also only a few blocks away from our hotel. I placed the order online and we were quoted a 45 minute return window. It ended up only being around 30 minutes, so definitely check in with them when you arrive. For those looking to dine-in, you order at the counter and they give you a number for your table. They'll bring your food to you. We saw several parties walk up, realize that this was the case, and choose to leave - so just a warning. I had the Cuban on soft bread and X had a burger with a fried egg. Neither come with any sides, so make sure you order one if you want fries or anything else with your order. My sandwich was really good - one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had. We also ordered a Tres Leches cake, which X said was pretty good. A bit on the smaller side, but perfect for us because we were both so full from the food. read more

One of our usual places To bring friends and family visiting but today was a huge let down, not because of food or ambiance but because of service. My sister in law ordered the Nutella empanada for dessert but it never came out until about 15/20 mins after we finished our food. So when she went to see where it was they said she never ordered it and made it seem like she was asking for the keys to the safe. So she was feed up and ordered another one, since her daughter really wanted it. She found her original receipt and showed them she did order and was charged for the original at the beginning. While we live in Orlando we will probably be back but it might be a while until we bring new faces to try to avoid embarrassment over a $2 empanada. The food here is absolutely delicious. We got a Cuban empanada with beef, a Venezuelan empanada with cheese( this was probably the best thing we ate! Don't sleep on it!) an order of 4 papas rellenas / also delicious! A Colombian empanada, mini quesitos and Cuban pastelitos, and lastly the Pelua Arepa. Everyone was friendly and the food came out fast, coffee even faster. Don't hesitate to try this place if you're close by! Wow! Everything I tried at this place is out of this world. Love that they mix all types of Spanish food for the ultimate eats! Tapas style apps that you can do small or large portions of! I got the sampler for 2 that brought enough food for a family of 4! The Cuban was great too and they made it exactly how I asked for it extra pressed! Perfect place to stop by for breakfast lunch or dinner when you are looking for a Spanish bite to eat! Wish they would open one of these in Tampa! The ham croquettes are amazing too super fresh and fried to order. I didn't get a pic of them because as soon as they landed on the table we quickly ate them up but they were one of my favorite tapas we had! We went here during our vacation to WDW because it was a walkable distance from our hotel. Not only are the portions HUGE, the taste is out of this world. The plantains were delicious. I ordered the crispy pork belly which was the special of the day. We also ordered a variety of empenadas. I cant' remember which was was my favorite, but they all had a flaky crust and a rich, flavorful filling. Would definitely recommend for anyone craving authentic Latin food. read more

Unlike its sister resturant El Patron this wasn't as yummy or perhaps not as vegetarian friendly or we just were not used to Latin American breakfast. We stopped by here before our flight. Service was friendly and nice area for outdoor seating as well. Disappointing- the food and the service. We ordered a cachapa, tostada cubana, guava juice, and a chai tea. We paid $3.25 for a cup of chai tea (we really like chai tea) and when they brought it to the table... it was a cup of hot water and a TEA BAG! I do not mind paying that amount for a beverage if it is being crafted on site, but not for a tea bag... disappointing. The same thing with the guava juice. I feel like this juice was poured straight from a can and not freshly made on site. The juice tasted watered down as well... again, disappointing. The tostada cubana was okay. It barely had any butter on it and when we asked for butter, the server brought a cold butter brick, likely just cut from a solid stick of butter. Needless to say, the butter would not spread smoothly onto the bread and because the butter was so cold, it did not melt on the lukewarm bread. We left half of the serving uneaten because who wants to eat dry toast. The cachapa was blah. No real flavor. And it came out of the kitchen barely warm. I did, however, like the sweet corn flavor, but was underwhelmed by the dish. Note: the tostada cubana came out of the kitchen almost 10 minutes before the cachapa. A note to the kitchen- prepare the meals which take longer to cook first, then prepare the meals which do not take a lot of time so the food comes out at the same time, or close to the same time. No one at a table wants to watch someone else eat all of their food while waiting for theirs. I really wanted to enjoy the food here. I was excited about coming here. Maybe we didn't order their specialty, maybe it was an off day. Either way, we were disappointed. If you go, I wish you have a better experience. read more

I write this as I walk away from this place. Unfortunately, I found a huge red hair in my sandwich, which is entirely unacceptable. (The server took it away from me so I couldn't take a photo) When I brought this to the attention they told me they would make a full refund. When I'm leaving the manager's or owner's only remedy was to offer a mere 10% discount on the sandwich. This response was completely inadequate for such a serious issue. Food safety and hygiene should be a top priority for any restaurant, and Sofrito Café clearly failed in this regard. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to prevent such incidents in the future. I won't be returning anytime soon and cannot recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Came down for the weekend and had to try this place out with all the high reviews. Initially, I wanted the Cuban sandwich but accidently ordered the avocado toast, thinking the Cuban sandwich had the option w avocado. Anyways, the order was to go, and as we opened our order, we were disappointed at first, but when we bite into the avocado toast, it was very tasty despite how simple it was. Husband and I demolished it! We also ordered the two different empanadas and other items as well. The place is clean and quick to order. Every item was in separate bags, which made it quite easy to get to. Definitely will come here again. I got the pernil (Cubano) and being from Miami, I always get anything cuban cuisine so that I feel at home. The pernil, roasted pork, was delicious don't get me wrong but it was not really cuban. I would say more puerto rican lol the yuca with mojo and tostones was AMAZING!! It so fresh and delicious and made just right! I was beyond happy and my taste buds were jumping with joy. The food for sure is delicious, fresh and packed with seasoning. Once again, you do get your money's worth with the portion. My husband, puerto rican, was happy with the authentic pan sobao, (puerto rican bread, and loved the freshness of the sweet plantains. My friend ordered the argentina steak and the meat is great quality. That one was normally portioned lol.drinks - the drinks looked amazing and the sangria was perfect. In terms of covid precautions, physical distance is little to none unfortunately. I did not like that a huge family, mask less, was behind me and the kids were walking around. Over the span of our 4 day trip to Orlando, we came here twice- one for dinner and the other for breakfast. I just couldn't get enough! The service is excellent. The friendly host greets you and walks you through the menu and ordering process. You take a number and you sit anywhere you'd like. The restaurant is quite spacious and even has an outdoor seating area. The food comes out rather quickly and very hot! Water is self serve however, a waiter brings you a bottle of their house water. Venezuelan empanada - 5/5 OMG THESE WERE SO GOOD. The dough is doughy, slightly sweet, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Seriously, this stuff is good. The cheese filling was my favorite but the chicken filling was tasty as well. Cubano sandwich: 5/5 The sandwich was pressed down, which I didn't expect but the bread was thin and crispy. The meat was savory and paired nicely with the cheese and mustard. Skirt steak- 5/5 The dish was $16 but it included so much food! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was so tender and soft. The french fries were delicious- slightly salted and crispy. The fried plantains added a sweet side to the dish. Guava Nutella Waffle - 4/5 The waffles were a bit dry. Not the overcooked type of dry but maybe more liquid in the batter would taste better. However, the guava and nutella combo worked so well together. The guava jam is just slightly tarty while the nutella brings a sweet nostalgic taste. Try it if you love guava! Avocado toast - 4/5 The dish was so aesthetic but it lacked avocado. The bread to avocado ratio was definitely off but the bread was delicious. The mixed greens and fresh tomato cherries made the dish light and refreshing. The experience here is unlike any Latin American restaurant I've ever experienced. The food, the dim intimate lighting, the friendly staff, even the very reasonable food prices. This place is located in a small plaza in Lake Buena Vista. It's a nice looking restaurant inside and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu is pretty big with Latin dishes from several countries. My husband got the picadillo beef lunch special which came with white rice, black beans, and maduros. It was so big, it probably would have fed us both for $7. Everything was also very tasty. He also got the Dominican chicken soup which he said was very good as well. I got the pernil sandwich and added boiled yuca and it was delicious. We took a lot of food home. Seating was open and everyone was wearing masks. They serve beer (local drafts and Latin bottles), wine, cocktails, and espresso drinks as well. This is an excellent, tasty, friendly option near Disney that will not hurt your wallet. read more

This is a wonderful latin flavor filled spot that I enjoyed going to while in Orlando. Its walking distance from the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista and very close to Disney Springs if you're looking for somewhere to eat outside the busy area. It can get busy but overall it moves pretty fast because when you come in you place your order right away, take a number, and then they bring it to your table. I tried empanadas from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, and Cuba. All slightly different in their own way. I unfortunately kept confusing which one I liked the best but it came with a delicious sauce similar to mojo. I've tried many cuban sandwiches and this one was not my fave but the pernil sandwich was delicious. They also have agua frescas that tasted so fresh. I had the berry one. The sangria is packed with fruit as well. Almost ate a complimentary continental breakfast at the resort, but felt I deserved something much better after surviving Disney with the kids. Came super hungry for brunch, and left not needing to eat again until tomorrow! We went for breakfast during a week at Disney. After several days of paying five star prices for lackluster resort food, our meal at Sofrito was a DELIGHT. We ordered café con leche, Cuban empanadas (one beef one chicken), arepa pernil, and cachapa with pork. Every single one of us finished our plates quickly, and the cachapa eater did one of those "oh my lort so good" eye rolls. The staff was pleasant and the restaurant was clean and well-stocked with condiments. Next time we are back in the area we will have Sofrito on our short list.
