I have been coming to Sofritos for many years. Unfortunately they have gone down in quality. Tonight we decided to do take out instead of dining in. The arepas are smaller in size and the price has gone up. The roast pork was dry and the sides were not fresh (the yellow rice was old and the fried yuca was mush). The lomo was no up to par for the price charged. The only thing that was not too bad was the sandwich. It's a shame because we used to really enjoy it. But we will no longer come back. I don't think talking to management would make too much of a difference since it's not just one thing but the quality as a whole. Too bad. We really used to love this place. read more

On a girls road trip to crash a few yards sales and scoop up some leftover treasures. Let me tell you, that will work up an appetite! We were hungry for something different and unique to the area. Found this spot and hadn't had latin food in FOREVER plus great reviews, we were IN! We order a craft of Red Sangria to share. Delicious. Sweet but not too sweet. Flavorful and refreshing. I ordered the Churrasco with sweet plantains, black beans and tostones. The steak was delicious and chimmichurri was so good. The plantains were cooked well and the tostones were good (could use a little salt). Black beans tasted out of a can so not going to rave on those. Over all it was pretty good. I think I've found my one stop shop for all my Latin food cravings! From their croquetas to the pernil sandwiches to the churrasco, this place has it all! I absolutely love this place and the idea of how they incorporated so many Latin American food cuisines under one roof. Wanted to try a little bit of everything so I ordered the pernil sandwich. This was my fave because the seasoning was perfect and the bread was so soft. The churrasco platter is pretty big. It comes with tostones, rice, beans and salad. The ham & cheese croquetas and shredded beef empanadas are a nice way to start if you're wanting any appetizers. Coconut flan is small but after eating all that food, it's the right size. Your typical Latin cafe, it's a good spot to hit up when vacationing in the area. Sofrito Latin Cafe is where we go to get our Cafe con Leche when were on vacation, even if its just to pick-up (they have online ordering now thanks to COVID too). Good Cuban bread and guava pastries, good coffee. I have places like this all over Tampa and Miami that I frequent, Sofrito isn't above or below them, but just the standard I expect. So, we're New Yorkers and we have dined at Sofrito's there. This is not the same venue. Initially we thought so. However, this is Sofrito's Latin Cafe. Nonetheless, the food was great, I had the pernil (roast pork), yellow rice, red beans. My hubby had the same but had beef empandas. His comment was that the beef is shredded rather than ground. He does prefer the ground beef but the empanda was still flavorful. The staff is great and super friendly. The drinks are ok...I think that has to do with the type of liquor used, i.e. no Barcadi Gold for a Cuba Libre. It's a different type of rum that my husband wasn't used to. Again, I'd like to stress the great attitudes and service of the staff. You guys rock, keep up thr great work! read more

Every time I'm in the area, this is a MUST stop. I've been visiting once a year since 2018, and it's been consistently delicious and drool worthy. The empanadas are out of this world. The service is quick, and the atmosphere is perfectly casual. This last time I went, I brought my husband and four small children with me, and it was the perfect restaurant for my kids. I got to order my favorite, the churrasco with a side of tostones and a side of sweet plantains, and the kiddos devoured a kids meal of grilled chicken and French fries (usually they never eat at restaurants, but they LOVED this!). We ate in the outdoor space, and it was beautiful and allowed the kids to be able to have more space! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Overall - Great food at a counter order/quick service restaurant, the folks at the counter cost a higher score. Food - This is a Latin restaurant in the most eclectic way, they have a few staples from several countries, a "what is what" if you will of Latin food. The flavors are spot on which is impressive for such a wide selection of options where different seasonings are used. For appetizers we ordered basically every type of empanada and they were all really good, my favorites were the Argentinian beef and Cuban chicken. To drink the Pina colada was standard, you will not be disappointed. For the entrees I ordered the Cachapa since I've never eaten it, it was presented well and tasted as good as it looked. At the table we also ordered the Churrasco which was one of the best tasting steaks I have had in a while and the Camarones al ajillo which I was told was really good. Service - the staff at the order counter messed up my order which dropped the score, if you can't take my order and I need to come back up a second time that is not a good thing. There were 2 issues, mixing up meal sides with table sides and omitting items. Because there is no table service this really dinged the experience. Location - This restaurant is conveniently located off Apopka Vineland near Disney Springs. The parking lot is small but suffices since the strip mall is not that large. Ambiance - The feel is that of a table service restaurant with what looks to be a full bar. Basic layout with both large indoor and a outdoor seating. There is little in the way of decor in this basic interior, basic is a good way though. read more

My issue is not with food, ran in on my way home from Orlando, 3 hours away. Placed an order to go, man working the order desk was LOST, completely. Ordered 4 empanadas with 4 extra sauces, took 10 minutes to place my order. Paid for the extra sauces and I received 4 random sauces. I looked inside the bag and saw several sauce containers, didn't realize I needed to completely examine them to make sure the sauce that came with them was what I was receiving. The food here is still pretty good as ever, but portion sizes have decreased while prices have increased which is, I suppose, a sign of the times. One of our favorite entrees used to come with a delicious side salad but no more. A side of habanero sauce used to be at the tables, but will now cost you $2. I can overlook all of this, but the service has consistently gotten worse over recent visits whereas before they were so kind it made you want to order more and return. We asked for a second plate while dining today and were met with a sigh and the plate never came. When we asked for a to go box at the end of the meal, we were met with another sigh and after 10 min went to the front to secure the box ourselves. I understand this is a counter service restaurant, but when paying 20% tip, I would hope for better service or at least communication to request these items at the front of the restaurant. Had lunch here and it was SO good that I decided to order their catering for our group. I was coaching a volleyball tournament and my team was in Orlando from California. Felix was the manager that helped me. He had me place the order through their website, but we spoke several times on the details. I stayed at the Hyatt Place near Disney and this restaurant was just across the street. So I just crossed the street to try this place out and it turned out to be an amazing place. I ordered a variety of Cuban foods from their empanadas, ham croquettes to their recommended roast pork dish and to finish it off with a coconut flan and their Cuban coffee (cortadito). It was a perfect lunch, the food was on point and you can order the desert when you order your meal and they can hold it off and give it to you after you finish your main meal. The fact that they do that, it made me able to enjoy a hot coffee with a nice cool desert. read more

We were wanting to try different cuisine since we've been eating a lot of fast food being here for the parks. We found Sofrito as it was near our hotel. This place is such a gem! When going into the restaurant you order your food at the counter or kiosk and take a number and sit at one of the available tables (if you choose to dine in). After sitting, they bring you your food and drink to your table. The place can get busy but there are a lot of tables and bar seating available. Theres a lot of food to choose from and I wish we couldve gotten more! The staff is also willing to help you choose what to eat if its your first time. read more

We had a bit of a miscommunication about the brown sugar I wanted and not the brown packages of raw sugar. It was still very good and did not need any sugar. The rice was hard and undercooked, and the meat was hard and salty. I saw the reviews and they were mostly positive but then I saw they were older. I convinced my sister to eat here after having Sofrito Latin Cafe on my list of bookmarks for a while. I had just eaten Colombian food the week before and was pretty excited to see how it compared to my previous meal, especially with the high ratings. You order at the counter and they will bring you your meal based on the number they give you. We ordered some empanadas (Cuban, Venezuelan and Colombian) and the churrasco (steak chimichurri) to share. The empanadas are pretty and mostly tasty. I found the shredded meat empanadas to be a little dry and needed all the sauce they could get. The churrasco was fine. Nothing too special but filling. I preferred the fries over the steak, though. Not a huge fan of the yellow rice, and I usually love seasoned yellow rice. We also ordered a tres Leches for dessert, which looked like a little flan pudding on first glance. However, inside was a moist tres Leches cake. However, it wasn't anything special and the whipped cream was a bit much. Overall, Sofrito Latin Cafe is a pretty cheap option in the touristy Lake Buena Vista area. I may give the empanadas another go next time, or maybe to try the cachapas or arepas that I've seen so many pictures of on Yelp and social media. read more

I'm not an expert when it comes to Latin or Cuban food, but this was one of my favorite spots to eat at in Orlando! They have many varieties of empanadas,which I had no idea there are so different. Cuban empanadas I believe are most common, they are deep fried and made with wheat flour, Venezuelan empanadas which became my favorite is made with sweet fried corn flour dough, and last is Colombian empanada which is also made with fried corn flour and usually has meat and potato filling. They also have meals such as polla a la plan ha, which is garlic marinated chicken, you can get with a side of beans, rice and salad. I recommend the Puerto Rican yellow rice with a side of Cuban black beans! Pair it with some sweet plantains and empanadas, it's the perfect meal . read more

I reviewed Sofrito in January 2017 - my review stands and I'll just say I can't get enough of the Roast Pork meal - it's delicious and you get 3 sides and a salad for under $10! I went to pick up my order on Sunday night and the restaurant was very busy. Didn't realize they have a patio and there is free parking in the lot. Service is friendly and the food comes out fairly fast. I think the menu keeps expanding and given the reviews and interest in good, quality Latin food, I can see why. If you visit Orlando, I think you have to check out Sofrito - maybe next time I'll eat at the restaurant and get some drinks! WOW! I was asked by a friend to find some local Cuban food. This was the number two recommended by Yelp in the Orlando area, and my heavens it did not disappoint. The food was by far some of the best Cuban food I have ever had. The portions sizes were great, the service was top-notch, the restaurant was super clean, and the food was delicious. Something that was helpful to know, is that you order when you walk in and then find seating. The servers don't speak the best English, but still were super accommodating. There is limited parking so you may have to park a little way down. It is at the end of a strip mall. I recommend the fried plantains for an appetizer, the cachapa with roast beef for your entree, and a Nutella empanada for dessert. If you check in on yelp beforehand you get $5 off of $30 (thank you yelp)!!!! read more

Wow! I was not expecting the food to be as excellent as it was! This restaurant is beautiful inside! It is a nice quick service style, where you order then the food comes to your table. The one down side was that the menu is a bit difficult to understand because of the way it is presented. However, the lovely cashier was able to explain the different options and recommended some of her favorites. First, I highly recommend choosing the sides before the main course! I absolutely loved the plantains and the yuka. Both were perfectly cooked and tasted incredible. Unfortunately, I wasn't in love with the tostones, they seemed very mediocre, especially compared to the other sides. The main courses were also excellent. In hindsight, I would take the beef again, over the chicken. There was nothing wrong with the chicken, but the beef had a huge flavor explosion and the chicken wasn't as exciting. We were in town for the weekend, and looking for a good breakfast spot that was unique. Being big fans of latin food, we thought we would give Sofrito a shot, and were not disappointed. When we pulled up, there was limited parking and a line, which is actually a good sign to me. Id rather go to a place that is popular than an empty spot. It is a setup where you order at the counter, get a number, grab a table (indoor or outdoor), and they bring your order to you. They were prompt with the coffee drinks, and the food was not far behind. There is a decent amount of seating, but it isn't a huge place. Even with a line to the door, we were able to find a table without waiting. Everything was prepared well, tasted good, and was well-priced. We both enjoyed our coffees and breakfasts, and would definitely come back. They have a good amount of authetnic latin dishes, as well as some interesting vegetarian options. Everyone in the group was able to find something, and was happy with their order. If you are a fan of latin and South American breakfast foods, give Sofrito a shot. We'll surely be back. read more

Found this little gem near our hotel. I wasn't too sure how authentic it would be since we were no longer in the Miami area, but let me tell you it was savory and they have great staff! As soon as we walked in, the customer places their order. The gentleman at the cashier asked us if it was our first time and if we needed help with the menu. He made some recommendations and said if we had any further questions to let him know. My husband ordered the cubano sandwich and added an order of potatoes. I ordered a shrimp plate (can't remember the name) but it comes with a salad and three sides. I got the sweet plantains, black beans, and yellow rice. Their seating set up is very nice. You can sit inside or out. Once we received our foods, well we weren't disappointed. I grew up eating Puerto Rican food and my plate was delicious. The only thing I missed in the yellow rice was the little black beans I've normally had in the rice. (But maybe I ordered the wrong rice, just double check.) My husband said his Cubano was very savory as well compared to many others he recently had. I'm sure any menu item you pick, it will be superb. The server was very nice once they brought our food. Also, they have these house made salsas on their tables, which are so good. But caution when pouring, a lot can come out. My favorite was the habanero. That was super delicious but SPICY! The food here was everything I dreamed it would be- I read a bunch of reviews before coming but was still a little nervous being my mother and grandmother here. I was reimpressed assed by the variety and the value. It's hard to even say what was the best part because all the food was delicious. We also had a fun time talking about where the various food items were from and our memories of traveling to those places. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was my margarita- it tasted like sone one had dumped a salt shaker in it. I definitely should have asked for a new one but I'm conflict averse. I will say that I picked the margarita mostly because we weren't shown a drink menu. We also got a side of platanos maduros - also delicious. For dessert, we ordered alfajores and flan. The cookies were light as clouds holding their dulce de leche filling and the flan was excellent.
