Allow me to add to the 1,700 positive reviews...Good spot for food from all over Latin American, and they mean it, Colombian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and several others... Chill casual spot...walk up, order your food, drinks (libations), find a table and enjoy. Food was good and service was prompt. I'd recommend perusing the menu Before getting there - that way you don't take 10 minutes to figure out what you want and cause a riot with the folks on line behind you. I'm speaking for a friend who it happened to, not I for sure... To start I had a Cuban Empanada - good stuff. For the main course I had the pernil (roast pork) which was rather tasty and moist (yes I said it, "moist"). All of the sides were on point. To satisfy the thirst I had sangria - quite nice. A bit more on the wine side, but I wasn't complaining. Good atmosphere - it's a Latin place and at first there was soft rock music in the background which threw me off, but they quickly recovered with some reggaeton and other Latin melodies..I mean it is a Latin casual dining restaurant, right??!.. Sofrito Latin Cafe was just a walks away from my hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at the ambience, friendly customer service, and amazing food! I came back everyday thereafter haha. I walked-in on a weekday to find two off their staffs say good morning! You can order food and drinks via their tablet upfront or order with their staff. I couldn't read the menus on their screen (bad eyes) so I opt in to order on the tablet. The café caters to breakfast/brunch/lunch options plus a variety of coffees and smoothies. That week I tried all their empanadas. From Argentinian, Valenzuelan, and Cuban! Each day I had a cuban coffee as well. Their food is hot and packed with flavor. You can tell the food was definitely made with care haha. The Cuban coffee is a strong sweet espresso and literally, one is enough. The caffeine content is high and oh so yummy haha. I usually love eating here and it's a frequent recommendation I suggest to friends and visitors. The food came out pretty quick considering the sign outside said they were short staffed. They must have expected a large crowd for the Saturday afternoon when i was there. I ordered my usual, the Churrasco. They asked for the cook of my steak and i asked for medium rare. Yes i know it's a skirt steak and pretty difficult to cook that temp but this the first time it wasn't cooked to perfection. My steak was very well done and the chimichurri was overly salted. I ordered a side of yellow rice, sweet plantains, and fried yuca. I was disappointed the yuca was barely room temperature. I didn't want to make a fuss since this was suppose to be a quick lunch. My boyfriend ordered the pork Patacon and it was huge and piping hot. The meat was very flavorful and the fried plantains were crisp and the perfect thickness. Overall I'll still suggest this place and visit again but will be more inclined to try out other things on the menu. read more

There were several families as well as a few solo travelers and what appeared to be locals. A good mix. I had the Peruvian chicken. It came with salad (with a delicious house dressing), and I chose plantains, yellow rice and red beans as sides. The chicken was perfect. I forgot to order any sauce to go with it, but it was great by itself and the dressing from the salad. Yellow rice very good, plantains sweet and moist. Red beans were good, though I'd probably choose black beans next time around. Overall, a delicious, filling, healthy but not heavy meal, about $20 with tax. read more

This place has the best Latin food. We liked it so much we came back a second time in our week stay in Orlando. This time we had the Pescado Frito and the Petacon with Fried Yuca Al Cilantro Mojo and for dessert we had the Nutella Empanda. The fish was cooked perfectly. The Nutella Empanadas are to die for. You have to come here just for them. We also loved the Roast Pork, which was so juicy and had the best flavor. Basically everything we tried here, we liked. I was told about this restaurant by my hotel staff at the Delta Hotel. Great Staff, Good Hotel with LOUSY ROOM KEYS that have to be reprogrammed 13 times every 30 hours. (different review coming for them) The Staff at Sofrito was FANTASTIC and FRIENDLY. I ordered the Churrasco, medium rare, and that is EXACTLY how it came out. It was perfectly seasoned and the chimichurri was VERY WELL put together. The white rice with black beans was absolutely perfect...reminded me of my abuelita's cooking...LITERALLY brought a smile to my face, as I closed my eyes and envisioned her preparing dinner in the kitchen when I was a child... The sweet plantains, (maduros), were PHENOMENAL, with exactly the amount of crunchy sweetness on the outside from the caramelization and sweet tenderness on the inside. We came from out of town for the local amusement parks. After a full day at one of the parks, in the rain and the heat, we were tired and looking for a place to eat where we could eat well but eat somewhat light. This restaurant came up in the search on Yelp, and we saw that they had Cuban sandwiches. We decided to give it a try. We have had Cuban sandwiches before and liked them very much. We also tried one of the appetizers which was kind of like a potato meatball. We can't remember the name. The sauce that came with it was also very good and we dipped our French fries in the sauce after we finished the appetizer. There were four of us and we were able to split two Cuban sandwiches among the four of us and it was the perfect amount of food for us. The sandwiches were delicious. The meat was hard and the arepa was thin and firm like a disc. So disappointing. The beef and chicken Argentinian empanadas lack flavor. The food we had was delicious and authentic. Hubby had the vegetarian main event with black beans and yellow rice and I had the salmon main event with black beans and regular rice! Both were served with fresh green salad and maduros! I immediately poured my black beans over my rice and enjoyed the perfectly cooked medium grilled salmon with it. So yummy!!! The dining room was very clean and roomy. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can order at the register or at the multiple kiosk which makes it very efficient.
