Turkish Lamb Gyro Platter

Wow amazing authentic Turkish food and great service. Highly recommended. I can't wait to invite friends and family

Was looking for a healthier and heartier dinner in the area before my triathlon race in the morning. Mediterranean food is one of my faves and that's how I found Sofra. Wasn't busy when I went on a Saturday evening, which was nice as I'm not into crowded places. Service was good, server was attentive and quick. I ordered the gyro platter and it was good. The gyro was too greasy for me and although the menu said it comes with soup and salad, no soup for me lol Overall it was good and what I was looking for. Would recommend

An incredible lunch at Sofra!

We will be back to Sofra! What a treat to have such fresh homemade food and in generous quantities. I had the Greek salad with a skewer of grilled chicken. My friend had the falafel sandwich with a salad. Everything was so tasty! The waiter brought us a dish of humus and tzatziki with bread on the house. It really could not have been better. The place had a pleasant ambiance and friendly and cute waiter. Perfect!

This restaurant offers the best Mediterranean food, along with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

Went there the other night, and the restaurant happened to be closing early. However, the staff was so kind and accommodating and allowed my friend and I to eat there. Even though, they were working on closing out the kitchen and cash register they accommodated us, which I greatly appreciated. The food was great as well, all the ingredients tasted fresh. And there were many vegetarian options to choose from. I highly recommended it.

Wonderful experience...I walked in to a smiling restaurant owner. I ordered the mixed appetizer platter. Soooo good! Way too much for one, I'll take a lot home, and it'll be a delicious lunch tomorrow. Fresh pita, tabouli, eggplant, stuffed grape leaves, and much more. Wonderful service. Turkish wine too. Tea and baklava for dessert.

Went for lunch, place was empty. Great food but lacked in service, as in no one came to our table after food was delivered.

It was founded by owner Christos "Chris" Charoudis, the restaurant's menu is largely inspired by traditional family recipes. Chris's mother, Eleni, personally quality-controlled the dishes to ensure authenticity. This is the original restaurant, at the corner of Lantana Rd. & Jog, a second is on Congress, They have expanded & during covid outdoor dining in the parking lot was created. There is a free parking in front along with a steady stream of pick up traffic. The menu offers extensive Greek dishes with servers being very quick & efficient. Portions at Chris' Taverna are enormous. One plate is enough for more than enough for 2 of us to share. The restaurant is casual, reservations are not accepted, it's first come & first serve. Tonight six of us met here for dinner. We arrived before 6:00 and waited only a few minutes for a table. When we left there was a line outside. When we were seated we were given water & a garlic spread with warm fresh pita. We all shared babaganosh & generous delicious dips. My husband & I shared a gyro salad with lots of grilled lamb, more than enough for us both. Others enjoyed greek chicken salad, shrimp with pasta, and spanakopita. Everyone brought leftovers home, enough for a few meals. Happily we weren't rushed.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying without feeling too heavy. First of all, the portions were HUGE. There was so much food. It was perfect to order a couple dishes to share between us. But the real star of the show was the tzatziki. Phenomenal. I genuinely wanted to eat it with a spoon. Creamy, garlicky, perfectly balanced 10/10. The salad was just what I wanted after sitting in the sun all morning. Crisp, refreshing , and not an afterthought like it can be at some places. Every bite felt fresh and well-seasoned. To be honest, I did use the tzatziki and salad dressing instead of the provided salad dressing. And the gyro wrap with garlic fries? Easily one of the best gyros I've had in a while. The meat was flavorful and tender, the wrap was perfectly put together, and those garlic fries were the ideal salty, crispy side. This spot is definitely getting added to the pool day lunch rotation.

When we arrived we had told our server that we were there for a laid back evening and service was spot on. Without exception, all of our food was generously portioned, delivered promptly, attractively presented with spot on flavors and textures! I had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese (YUMMY). Others had The Ravioli, Mussels, Meatballs, Wild Shroom Pappardelle, Paccheri Vodka, and a perfectly prepared Veal Chop (a non-menu special). They have some small two top tables inside and a couple high tops outside. They had a board with lunch specials on it. But we wound up ordering from their regular menu. I got the moussaka and he got pasticchio. Both dishes came with a very generously sized Greek salad and warm pita wedges to start. The salads had tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, pepperoncinis, and romaine lettuce topped with feta cheese and dressing. There was also a small rice stuffed grape leaf -- cut in half. The salad could have been a meal in itself. The moussaka was layered egg plant and potatoes with a ground beef filling topped with cinnamon béchamel sauce. The pasticchio is the Greek version of lasagna but with elbow macaroni. Both portions were quite filling. I ate my dish and he brought half of his home. He was saving room for dessert. For dessert, he had galaktoboureko which is a custard filled pastry topped with simple syrup. He said it was good, but it would have been better if warmed. Or at least if the syrup was warm. We had very good service. If you like Greek food and are in the area, this is a good place to try. Large portions at reasonable prices.

They even gave us a few samples of the dressings to choose from since this was our 1st visit. We also loved their beverage choices as they had Stubborn Soda and some fresh made juices. I even saw a frozen beverage machine. It was very clean inside and everyone busses their own garbage. Parking is a little tight during meal hours so on our next visit, we will come at an off hour.

Seated immediately for our reservation, our waiter promptly greeted us & took Beverage requests. Started with a Hendricks Martini ($21) and bottle of sparkling water (unfortunately it's was domestic Mountain Valley & not Pellegrino) and surprisingly priced at $12. As we waited for drinks, we perused the menu. What caught my eye was the many great salads & different from the norm entrees. I started with the Leek Soup ($18) which was outstanding. Flavorful & Vibrant. Next we tried the Green Salad, ($23) perfectly named as it had many kinds of lettuce only. It was incredibly Fresh & served with a light vinaigrette. A large portion. I loved it. Others ordered the Beets & Goat cheese salad ($25) which was delicious as well. Our entrees were: A whole Branzino ($49 and plenty for 2 to share) which was beautifully roasted and served filleted with tail on. A large portion of perfectly sliced & cooked lamb chops ($52) Really good. We also had a side of local roasted baby carrots ($19) with greens still on. Pricey, but maybe the best tasting carrots I've ever had. We finished with one dessert recommendation from our waiter. Sticky Toffee pudding ($16) which was a soft moist tasty Bundt cake with a too small scoop of homemade pistachio ice cream. Good but not up to the standard of the other items we had this evening. Service: we had a perfect experience from our waiter & waitstaff. Incredibly professional and around when needed. Overall the food is really good and justifies the higher prices which in South Florida isn't usually the case. Upon leaving I told the owner/GM that this was the best restaurant I have eaten in 2026! Don't wait until you hear about it getting a Michelin star and go now. You heard it from this Foodie. Just know that on Saturdays the well healed crowd is lively & the noise level is spirited.

We chose to sit inside as our friends suggested the main outdoor area can get very loud, making conversation difficult. Service was spotty, I had to ask for a glass of ice 3 times and he disappeared towards the end of the meal, as he got busy attending tables outside. It is a small menu with limited options. We started with the mussels and Mediterranean dip. It was very nice but served with a cold whole pita which everyone needs to touch and tear apart. I ordered the steak and frites ( substituting a salad over frites) which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Hubs and another had the flat iron chicken which was very moist, but charred which is not only carcinogenic but bitter in taste which I did not enjoy and would not have eaten. Our friend had the lamb chops which she ordered medium but they came rare but tasted good. We ordered the soufflé and affogato for dessert. The young lady drops off the small dish of vanilla ice cream with the soufflé but no espresso. The soufflé was cold and undercooked. It took awhile for our server to return, and he brought out the espresso which might have sat outside the whole time as it wasn't even hot...our waiter never returned, so we still ate it but it wasn't as good.. A few notes which took away from our experience was the service, cold/undercooked dishes, and the chicken entree lacking as they serve fries but no veggies unless you order carrots or cauliflower at $20? They also charged $12 for water. Not the best experience.

It was one of the evening specials. It was literally melt in your mouth. My husband had the salmon livornese. He said his dish was very good -- lots of capers. Our friends had one of the veal scallopini dishes and an order of rigatoni à la vodka. They had a bit of each other's dishes. The veal was tender. The pasta sauce a bit different and the rigatoni al dente. Every plate was devoured down to the last crumb.
