    Mediterranean Salad

Their Mediterranean salad is wonderful! They use the best olive oil. We love the falafel too! Nice to sit outside.

Was looking for a healthier and heartier dinner in the area before my triathlon race in the morning. Mediterranean food is one of my faves and that's how I found Sofra. Wasn't busy when I went on a Saturday evening, which was nice as I'm not into crowded places. Service was good, server was attentive and quick. I ordered the gyro platter and it was good. The gyro was too greasy for me and although the menu said it comes with soup and salad, no soup for me lol Overall it was good and what I was looking for. Would recommend

We will be back to Sofra! What a treat to have such fresh homemade food and in generous quantities. I had the Greek salad with a skewer of grilled chicken. My friend had the falafel sandwich with a salad. Everything was so tasty! The waiter brought us a dish of humus and tzatziki with bread on the house. It really could not have been better. The place had a pleasant ambiance and friendly and cute waiter. Perfect!

This restaurant offers the best Mediterranean food, along with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

It was founded by owner Christos "Chris" Charoudis, the restaurant's menu is largely inspired by traditional family recipes. Chris's mother, Eleni, personally quality-controlled the dishes to ensure authenticity. There is a free parking in front along with a steady stream of pick up traffic. The menu offers extensive Greek dishes with servers being very quick & efficient. Portions at Chris' Taverna are enormous. One plate is enough for more than enough for 2 of us to share. The restaurant is casual, reservations are not accepted, it's first come & first serve. Tonight six of us met here for dinner. We arrived before 6:00 and waited only a few minutes for a table. When we left there was a line outside. When we were seated we were given water & a garlic spread with warm fresh pita. We all shared babaganosh & generous delicious dips. My husband & I shared a gyro salad with lots of grilled lamb, more than enough for us both. Others enjoyed greek chicken salad, shrimp with pasta, and spanakopita. Everyone brought leftovers home, enough for a few meals. Happily we weren't rushed.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying without feeling too heavy. First of all, the portions were HUGE. There was so much food. It was perfect to order a couple dishes to share between us. But the real star of the show was the tzatziki. Phenomenal. I genuinely wanted to eat it with a spoon. Creamy, garlicky, perfectly balanced 10/10. The salad was just what I wanted after sitting in the sun all morning. Crisp, refreshing , and not an afterthought like it can be at some places. Every bite felt fresh and well-seasoned. To be honest, I did use the tzatziki and salad dressing instead of the provided salad dressing. And the gyro wrap with garlic fries? Easily one of the best gyros I've had in a while. The meat was flavorful and tender, the wrap was perfectly put together, and those garlic fries were the ideal salty, crispy side. This spot is definitely getting added to the pool day lunch rotation.

They have some small two top tables inside and a couple high tops outside. They had a board with lunch specials on it. But we wound up ordering from their regular menu. I got the moussaka and he got pasticchio. Both dishes came with a very generously sized Greek salad and warm pita wedges to start. The salads had tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, pepperoncinis, and romaine lettuce topped with feta cheese and dressing. There was also a small rice stuffed grape leaf -- cut in half. The salad could have been a meal in itself. The moussaka was layered egg plant and potatoes with a ground beef filling topped with cinnamon béchamel sauce. The pasticchio is the Greek version of lasagna but with elbow macaroni. Both portions were quite filling. I ate my dish and he brought half of his home. He was saving room for dessert. For dessert, he had galaktoboureko which is a custard filled pastry topped with simple syrup. He said it was good, but it would have been better if warmed. Or at least if the syrup was warm. We had very good service. If you like Greek food and are in the area, this is a good place to try. Large portions at reasonable prices.

The space was clean with plenty of seating, and the staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They gave me time to browse the menu without any rush, and were ready to take my order the moment I decided. I went with the Falafel and Eggplant Pita Wrap, ordered exactly as it comes -- five crispy handmade falafels, roasted eggplant, hummus, tomato and cucumber salad, purple cabbage slaw, white onions, tomatoes, pickles, and lemon tahini sauce. What I loved about the presentation was how they sliced the pita and stuffed the toppings inside the pocket, then placed the eggplant and falafel on the outside before wrapping everything up tightly. It made for a much easier, cleaner eat -- no toppings tumbling out with every bite! My first bite was amazing. The fresh flavors really shined, the falafels were perfectly crispy, and the eggplant had that deep, savory roasted flavor. Every topping complemented the others beautifully, and I walked away completely satisfied. I am so happy I found this fast and healthy option close by! I also grabbed a baklava and a mango sparkling probiotic drink -- both delicious. Beyond the food, they have soft drinks, tea, and lemonade, plus a sauce bar with vinegar and oil if you want to customize your meal even further. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. I can't wait to come back and try their other menu options!

A perfect day to try it. We first went into the hookah bar on one side of the market , but it was a bit too smokey for me. So we went into the market through which on the left there is a room with tables and chairs for the restaurant to dine in. We had a lovely conversation with a gentleman who was just finishing his lunch. He told us he comes here everyday. After describing his favorite meal choice, that's what we decided to order. We ordered first a medium pot of chai/tea. The owner, Assad (sp?), told us later when we asked that they add mint, dried mint, and sage to the pot. The tea was so aromatic and warming. We each had several glass cups -- with added sugar. To share, we had their mixed grill. There were 3 skewers -- one chicken, one beef, and one kofta kebab (ground meat). The meats were served over rice with a bit of salad on the side. Small containers of salad dressing and tehina were on the plate, too. I added some sumac (my favorite lemony spice) to everything. The food was very good and we left not a crumb. We were surprised to learn that the gentleman we'd previously chatted with paid for our dessert before he left! We got kunefah (kenefe/knaffe) -- my husband's favorite. It was nice and cheesy in the middle. And then as we were leaving, the owner gifted us a traditional special Ramadan "sweet" pastry. We were too full to try it there, so we brought it home for later. He said it has walnuts inside. We look forward to returning here for more middle eastern delights. It's casual, low key, cooked to order, and welcoming.

Seated immediately for our reservation, our waiter promptly greeted us & took Beverage requests. Started with a Hendricks Martini ($21) and bottle of sparkling water (unfortunately it's was domestic Mountain Valley & not Pellegrino) and surprisingly priced at $12. As we waited for drinks, we perused the menu. What caught my eye was the many great salads & different from the norm entrees. I started with the Leek Soup ($18) which was outstanding. Flavorful & Vibrant. Next we tried the Green Salad, ($23) perfectly named as it had many kinds of lettuce only. It was incredibly Fresh & served with a light vinaigrette. A large portion. I loved it. Others ordered the Beets & Goat cheese salad ($25) which was delicious as well. Our entrees were: A whole Branzino ($49 and plenty for 2 to share) which was beautifully roasted and served filleted with tail on. A large portion of perfectly sliced & cooked lamb chops ($52) Really good. We also had a side of local roasted baby carrots ($19) with greens still on. Pricey, but maybe the best tasting carrots I've ever had. We finished with one dessert recommendation from our waiter. Sticky Toffee pudding ($16) which was a soft moist tasty Bundt cake with a too small scoop of homemade pistachio ice cream. Good but not up to the standard of the other items we had this evening. Service: we had a perfect experience from our waiter & waitstaff. Incredibly professional and around when needed. Overall the food is really good and justifies the higher prices which in South Florida isn't usually the case. Upon leaving I told the owner/GM that this was the best restaurant I have eaten in 2026! We chose to sit inside as our friends suggested the main outdoor area can get very loud, making conversation difficult. Service was spotty, I had to ask for a glass of ice 3 times and he disappeared towards the end of the meal, as he got busy attending tables outside. It is a small menu with limited options. We started with the mussels and Mediterranean dip. It was very nice but served with a cold whole pita which everyone needs to touch and tear apart. I ordered the steak and frites ( substituting a salad over frites) which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Hubs and another had the flat iron chicken which was very moist, but charred which is not only carcinogenic but bitter in taste which I did not enjoy and would not have eaten. Our friend had the lamb chops which she ordered medium but they came rare but tasted good. We ordered the soufflé and affogato for dessert. The young lady drops off the small dish of vanilla ice cream with the soufflé but no espresso. The soufflé was cold and undercooked. It took awhile for our server to return, and he brought out the espresso which might have sat outside the whole time as it wasn't even hot...our waiter never returned, so we still ate it but it wasn't as good.. A few notes which took away from our experience was the service, cold/undercooked dishes, and the chicken entree lacking as they serve fries but no veggies unless you order carrots or cauliflower at $20? They also charged $12 for water. Not the best experience.

The waiter explained that if we want fish to follow him to the wall of fish on ice like in a fish market. Each fish had a price per lb, some were up to $200. Most had Greek names. We settled on fish for $40/lb. Since there were two of I said two assuming we'd get two fillets. The fish came to the table whole which was deboned for us nicely but as two WHOLE fish. We also has a well presented appetizer of whole grilled calamari. The waiter recommended the Greek salad. On the menu it said serves 2-4 people. I should have paid attention because I think it was over $40. Maybe this should have been split among 4 people. It was nothing special. We also decided on a side dish of a medley of broccoli, cauliflower & romanesco for $17. What arrived was only broccoli & cauliflower. I asked the waiter where the romanesco was and he said well this is what we got in. Tsk. We ended up with four glasses of a Greek wine which ran $25 per glass (yes, should have gotten a bottle but the wine list was pretty expensive). So what was the total bill before tip? $401! It turns out each fish weighed 2.25 lbs so we spent $180 just in fish! I felt really duped. The waiter should have said one fish should have been enough. In a nutshell - pretty/romantic restaurant, confusing menu, very basic ingredients (olive oil, salt & pepper), nicely prepared entrees, WAY overpriced. If you go don't be afraid to ask questions.

But hey... when in Rome, do as the Romans right ‍ We started with the octopus appetizer, they brought fresh bread to the table and started cutting oregano tableside like it was a Food Network episode fancy touch for sure. Then the waiter walks us over to this giant ice chest full of fresh fish explaining all the different options. Me being me, I pointed at the biggest fish in there and added 2 scallops because they looked too good to pass up. "When in Rome," right? Man... the fish was cooked perfect!!!!!! Scallops melted in your mouth. Everything was honestly amazing, I can't even complain. Only thing I wish I paid attention to was the little part on the menu that said the fish was priced by the pound If I knew that beforehand, I probably wouldn't have picked a whole $400 fish But honestly? The experience was worth it. Just do yourself a favor... go with the normal sized fish, not the biggest one in the ice chest. Overall, amazing food, amazing service, and definitely an experience I won't forget anytime soon. If you're looking for fresh seafood and a great atmosphere, I'd absolutely recommend this spot.....
