The gelato wasn't as out of this world as I'd hoped. There were only a few flavors, and while it was okay, I wish there were more to choose from. It tastes pretty watery, and I hoped it would be more like ice cream. The price was a bit high, and the portions definitely didn't match it. The people were nice and helped to the best of their ability. The place was also very neat and clean.

The Sweet Cream flavor and the London Fog flavor go together quite well!

Sofie's Scoops Gelato is a good place in Olympia to swing by for gelato! It's in a building designed like a market area with several merchants there too so you can grab like some Mexican food for example and then swing by here for a sweet treat. I got a two flavor cup of gelato, the Sweet Cream and an Earl Grey fog flavor. The two blended together quite well and didn't make any unfortunate clashing upon the taste buds. Quite a few different flavors to pick from so that gives the place a good likelihood for return trips to explore for future trips. I am sure this place is quite popular during the summer months but a relative breeze with service during the cold months.

You can taste the difference between overly processed gelato and one made from good ingredients and Sofies Scoops is authentic! Great flavors and friendly staff! I just tried their banana gelato with chocolate chips and it was 10/10!

Evoo gelato was sooooooo good! Never had this flavor before, so worth it! My daughters had coffee gelato and the chocolate gelato and both had rave reviews. Service was quick and super friendly! The ambiance is hipster chill vibes, love it! Had to pay for parking but for a quarter we got 17minutes.

A fun filled day at the Children's Museum needs to end with ice cream so we headed to Sofie's Gelato for something special. The first one I read was the Black Tea Rose Gelato and I was set. It has the strong taste of black tea but it's subtle and mainly sweet. I am a huge fan! I ordered mine in a cone and it was extra sweet and delicious, you'll definitely want one! My little toddler friend loved her vanilla gelato and sat quietly until it was all gone so we know it must have been really good! The location is small and there are other restaurants in this market yet the aroma of Sofie's Gelato takes over and is so magically sweet. It was closer to closing so there was a spot available for us to sit but I recommend grabbing a quick scoop to go.

Got a salty butterscotch scoop over a chocolate scoop. It was great. Not a lot of seating, but just enough to get a scoop and escape the heat.

Mattea D.

Delicious gelato on a Saturday after pizza and the children's museum! Small is definitely enough for a kid or an adult, and our scooper offered to make the scoops a little smaller for the kids cone if desired. A fun stop and no wait! Interesting flavors - we tried chocolate, salty caramel, rhubarb, and mixed berry. Sampled fennel! Loved the stop and the shop is cute!

It was about 105 degrees outside and this ice cream store came to the rescue. We had just finished our play time at the children's museum nearby. Everything and every place was closed due to the heat. What is a mom to do. Ice cream for lunch for sure. Lots of delicious flavors. We decided on pineapple, vanilla (it's called churned cream or something fancy), and strawberry. Creamy, delightful, and fresh. Line was literally wrapped around the building, there was ac inside but not strong enough for a day like that but you can only imagine how hot it was with the heat! My son approved and the only thing that sucks right now due to covid is that you're not allowed to sit and enjoy it there. No problem, we took it over to the nice hallway near the taco stand inside. I will definitely take my family here again to support a small business.

Kelly S.

Pretty good gelato. Super cute setup. I love the decor and merch you can buy. The server wasnt very friendly. My mom is a big gelato fan so we get it as much as we can. Not the best gelato out there, but good. Still better than ice cream. The mango tajin was a fun flavor. I loved the mango, not a big fan of the tajin so i ended up getting the lemon. It was pretty good, but i wanted it to be more sour. It was a little sweeter than i like my lemon things.

Debra B.

If you are craving some luscious, creamy gelato, this is your place to go! They are a cute little shop inside 222 Market (don't waste your time looking for their storefront - just head inside and you'll find it. They offer a nice selection of house-made, small-batch gelato in some very tasty flavors. I had the coffee stracciatella and salted butterscotch- both were divine. Hubby had the chocolate almond and cinnamon - also delish and they tasted great together. We ordered the medium cups and they were sweetly satisfying. Service was quick and friendly. I haven't found gelato many places in the area, but this one is worth a visit - or a re-visit!

Three of us checked out the Sofie's scoops on 4th ave today. It was great, nice service delicious gelatos we all loved our choices! It is so nice to have high quality small batch gelato right in Olympia and so close to home, we live about three miles away. They change the flavor option often so there is much to come back for. read more

They have a variety of flavors but their main flavors they have year round are the sweet cream , Olympia Fog, cardamom, Sally butterscotch and chocolate . They have 3 different scoop sizes in a bowl or cone and you can put two flavors in each. I got the Olympia fog and sweet cream and my husband ordered the mango and butterscotch . I highly recommend the Olympia fog for the tea lovers it had such good flavor to it. The sweet cream is their Version of vanilla so delicious and can be paired with anything! Salty butterscotch was also good and my husband loved the tartness of the mango flavor ! I loved the Olympia fog so much that I took a medium size home! We will definitely be coming back here ! read more

VERY Pleasantly surprised:) they have a couple Vegan gelato flavors AND vegan waffle cones are available by request! the two flavors displayed were orange+cranberry, and cinnamon+cherry. I absolutely love the classic combination of orange and cranberry, but something about the cinnamon cherry urged me to try it as it seemed very festive, and unique...so I tried it. I was handed a clean, tiny, metal spoon to taste the cinnamon and cherry gelato and I am just in LOVE read more

Best gelato around!!! I love the people, always very friendly and patient as you decide between their awesome flavors. I have been coming for a long time and love it every single time. Today the vanilla will mango and lime absolutely blew me away! SO good!!! I would kill to have that be a staple flavor omg haha I also love the support Sophie's gives to their community and the locally sourced ingredients are a huge huge plus. Just a good little local business with good people and great flavors! Highly recommend. read more

If you're someone who's never before had gelato, this is where you want to get your first taste. If you're someone who's had gelato before, this is where you want to go to realise all the other gelato you've ever had was mediocre at best. I can't praise Sofie's enough! Fantastic crew, amazing texture and flavours, and OMG those waffle cones with a hint of cinnamon are literally THE BEST I've ever had in my life. And I love that they have GF cones, clearly mark their GF and Vegan and DF flavours, and even do rewards cards ... because you know you'll be going back. Even when you move away, every time you drive past Olympia you'll pull off the freeway and pick up a pint or four. Sofie & crew, we love you! read more

A cute little ice cream joint at 222 Market, right next to Chelsea farm oyster bar. They had a good variety of flavors, my favorite is the Olympia fog, which is not something you usually see at other ice cream places. The service was good and very fast, although I knocked down one star because their waffle cone is cinnamon flavored which 1. I don't like cinnamon and 2. It's strong taste takes away the flavor of the ice cream. read more

This spot is a hidden gem! I can't believe I hadn't tried it sooner. Local, raw dairy AND it's from grass-fed cows?!? Sold. They have a ton of great flavors to choose from (the salted butterscotch was delicious!) and they make them right THERE in shop! The guy explained that he makes all sorts of new flavors regularly and the milk was literally this-morning-fresh. I also really liked how they used steel spoons for sampling and not plastic. Bonus for having sugar-free and vegan options! This will permanently be my go-to ice cream shop. read more

Best thing about this place is the FLAVORS!!! *You guys know how I feel about crazy-unique flavors and combinations! Actually ... 2 best things are 1) the gelato flavors and 2) you can watch the gelato being made right in front of you with this pretty cool, life sized mixing machine with a person hand making the batch!!! I've been on a TEA kick yall ... so I had the "Oly-Fog" Gelato (Black Tea + Vanilla) with Almond Gelato. Y - U - M !!! My only complaint is that the little tin cup the Gelato is served in is way too small because it's so good you just cannot get enough. The other cool thing about coming in here is that they share space with several other eateries. It is an eclectic co-op space so you can one-stop-eat and grab grub before you get Gelato. And for all the tourists ... they have merch! LOL read more

I LOVE this place. I'm not usually a huge gelato person (I'm definitely in the frozen-custard-is-king camp), but the waffle cones are to absolutely die for, and the gelato itself is so satisfying on a hot day. I will order the lemon gelato until I'm old and I've lost all my teeth, and then I'll still order it because being toothless never stopped anyone from eating ice cream. The service is also fantastic. They're often quite busy, but they deal with it well and keep on smiling. The busyness just tells you they're good. You can sample any of the flavors before you order, and I usually do because I decide "I'm super gonna to get something different this time," but then I get the lemon because it's addictive and I can't stop. Seriously, try them out on a warm day, or even a cool day, honestly. So good. read more

How can anyone give Sofies less than 5 stars?!?!?!?! When you walk in, you're hit with the smell of fresh, handmade waffle cones, with a hint of cinnamon. If you're anything like me, that's 2-3 times a week and at this point you should buy ownership in sofies or start scooping part time to pay for your habit. Sofies makes all of their gelato in store, in small batches, full of flavor. (yep, you get to see them working on it too!) You know the standard flavors they carry, like oly fog, sweet cream, chocolate, salty b and cardamom. But you hunt for the specialty flavors... it's like a mystery when you walk in! Stracciatella, say that 5 times fast...is my whole world. Whether it's dairy free mint, dairy free with strawberry, regular, espresso, or if you're taking my heart, it's blackberry. George Washington bush, or George Michael Bluth, is my baby girls favorite because she can't get enough banana. Ginger snap makes you sing praises that winter is coming. Lemon, orange dreamsicle and mixed berry have all of the summer vibes. Sofies makes fun flavors like olive oil, lemon and lavender, blackberry or strawberry mascarpone, plain strawberry, and so many more. They offer 2 dairy free flavors everyday! You can always call ahead to ask what they're scooping, because they switch it up each day. Most of the time I get a cone, but if it's one of my all time favorites, I'm leaving with a pint or two. Crater Lake root beer, stamp cards and Sammy Sundays finish off my experience and make me a 3x a week offender instead of 2. The locality of this place, with Sofie there greeting her customers, will always keep this a household name for me! read more

A wonderful spot where you can grab a cone or a pint to go. Everything is made in house, by real humans. Locally. Daily. It's tasty good and it shows in the freshness of of the cream and the creativity of the flavors. I had the ginger cardamom and it was so tasty! It had a nice snap, but not so much as to slap you in the face. The cardamom was subtle and just right. It was not overly creamy and left me wanting more. Sooooooo this is the best gelato spot, and here's why: They make it right there in shop, small batch, with great ingredients. They always have new rotating special flavors that I'm excited to try, but also have some solid classics always in the case (like salty butterscotch, and sweet cream). Best of all, always at least two vegan options (sorbetto or coconut based) for everyone to enjoy! If dairy free chocolate is an option, always get it. Same with creamy citrus flavors like Orange dream. I loved that they adapted to covid lockdown by offering gelato delivery (!!!) And I'm grateful that I can check Instagram for their daily flavors (usually in stories, usually salivation inducing). Best in town 100% read more

Juju's fits right in after a shopping trip to Archibald Sisters, Hot Toddy, and The Danger Room Comics. The second time, the Earl Grey custard was just as flavorful. Third time, the spumoni had the three Italian flavors perfectly balanced. The staff are always friendly and easygoing! Next time I hope trying the chocolates will be just as fun & tasty, with nearly as many unique unusual options...

I politely carried my drink up to the front desk (because nobody checks on you) and asked if I could simply get a hot chocolate instead. The lady took the drink from me and told me I would have to purchase it separately, despite her taking my original drink that had less that a sip taken out of it. I shrug and shook my head and the server took that as me purchasing another drink. So now I have two drinks is that admittedly taste awful and I'm not going to drink, but have to pay full price for.

Maybe because I am not the biggest fan of this type of dessert, but I tried the new chocolate raspberry flavor, which was nothing special. Salted caramel was overwhelmingly sweet. I love sweet, but that flavor was too much. The milk cocoa flavor not as yummy as I thought... I loved the toppings and this is the first time that I saw a Menchie's be topped off on everything. Impressive! The service was great! Very kind-hearted staff at the front that walked through how the frozen yogurt purchase process worked. did not make me feel dumb when I asked questions. Was very patient to answer questions and clarify the discount for Veterans Day to me. I liked that there were tables in and out of the shop. Felt roomy, even in the area where you get the frozen yogurt and toppings. Pleasantly surprised! I wish that they had more activities with the Menchie's character line, like coloring pages, black/whiteboards, or games. I have seen that at other Menchie's locations, but shockingly not this one... hm

I finally took a bite and it tasted like it had gone bad. I had him throw it away. It was too late and he had a stomachache for the rest of the night. Such a shame. My son liked coming here even though it wasn't my favorite. We will definitely not be returning. Unless you want your kid to eat rotten froyo, don't come here.

Jaric said that his cookie dough flavor barely had any cookie dough, and my coffee flavored ice cream had such a light taste of coffee in it. Not worth the price at all. However!
