    Spicy shrimp with jalapeño fettuccini
    Becky B.

I love this place! I love everything about it! The place is cute inside and located in the neighborhood positioned to cater to locals. The service is top notch. The owner is at every table and visiting with the many regulars. Now for the food... Delicioso! They serve homemade focaccia bread with olive oil as a free starter. No mater what you order it's the best version of that dish you'll ever eat. This time we had soup for appetizer and we shared the 4 meatball plate each covered with a different delicious sauce. The pesto cream sauce was my favorite and the meatballs were so tender I think my eyes rolled back in my head a little. My entree was spicy shrimp and it was very very good. I brought home another whole meal's worth of leftovers. Oh! And, I must mention their wine collection because they'll help you find the best one for your dinner. Y'all it's such a great place! Go eat at Sofia's regularly!

    Chicken Jalapeno Linguini

Sofia's Italiano is a quaint and fancy restaurant. The interior definitely gives you an Italian family vibe. Their prices on the menu are surprisingly decent. Sofia's Italiano has a vast selection of wine and there's a cocktail bar too. Once you're seated, you're served fresh bread with a spicy herb sauce on the side. Sofia's Italian cuisine was superb. Especially some of their signature dishes, like the Jalapeno Chicken Linguini. There's AC, yet they have extra fans for some reason? The staff are wonderful, always checking on us and refilling our drinks. There's plenty of space for large parties. Sofia's Italiano even has a an area for private parties. I've noticed that in past reviews Sofia's Italiano has had a gnat problem. When I was there. there WAS at least one gnat around my table. Maybe the staff are finally dealing with the infestation? I hope so. There was also some inconsistences with mine and my companion's orders. The chicken in the Creamy Chicken Sofia was dry and the soup my friend ordered, Zuppa di Fagioli had little broth.

    Fantastic Lasagna Combo !!!

I found out sometime recently that Gina's and Sofia's were the same restaurant in every way, except the name. Thus, being awesome like before. I came here tonight and ordered the Lasagna, my favorite dish here. It comes with a complimentary soup or salad as well as bread n oil. I always got the house salad with Italian dressing on the side whenever dining at this cafe. Everything was so delicious, fresh, good quality and made with care. One of the best lasagnas in TX has to be here as I said in the past. Every single thing I had tasted the exact same tonight as in 2022 when it was called Gina's. The pasta layers were soft. The rich, savory cheese, cream sauce typically used for lasagna, red sauce and meat were all very flavorful and moist. The aromas in this entree were so balanced like a real lasagna and not just some of the fake Americanized ones you get in some other restaurants. The Italian dressing is creamy here as opposed to vinaigrette. I like both kinds and I would certainly recommend this one like the main course for newcomers. My server was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. I even remember the stuffed shells, ravioli, meatballs and blackout cake being great stuff here too.

We waited at the table for about 10 minutes without anyone ever coming to the table to greet us or take an order.

Food was wonderful and service was great. It's also a location that you can talk quietly to who you're having lunch or dinner with.

Almost 80 degrees on Christmas Eve isn't unheard of. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and very busy. Well, I'll just get right down to it. I don't typically like to give a negative review on Christmas Eve, because I know restaurants can be short staffed and busy. But it genuinely felt like our time wasn't valued. I've been a server (and for many years) so I understand people and learned it pretty quick from day 1. Our server, Jacob was ok, but it was obvious he was trying too hard. Every time he said he was going to do something, it took f.o.r.e.v.e.r. We ordered dessert and sat there for over 15 minutes still waiting for dessert. By the time it came, we were so frustrated at how we had been forgotten once we got our meal that we just wanted the check. They did offer us the dessert for free, but that wasn't the point. We ordered the zucchini fritta and waygu meatballs. Both were great! The bathroom...there are 2 stalls in the ladies bathroom. 2. Two. The line was long and by the time I got back to the table, our food had been delivered and mine was cool. My other half ordered the shrimp scampi and said his shrimp was tough and he had no idea it would come with so much pasta. Even though my food was cold, it tasted good. But there was WAY too much pasta and not enough chicken or mushrooms. Eating here was a pretty big and sad disappointment. Especially for our 2 hour drive. If you're looking for snacks and drinks, this is a place to go. If you're looking for great Italian food with great service, go to Angelo's. I won't be eating dinner here again. I might go for drinks if I can pinpoint another bathroom somewhere.

We had a weekly ritual of going to Franco's Italian Restaurant. I 1st went there when they opened very long ago. Not long after my 2 tours in Viet Nam. The family that owned Franco's treated me like family and I'm fluent in Italian and we'd talk endlessly. I worked closeby at JSC. So, we went to Frenchies Italian Restaurant and pleasantly surprised by the excellent meal and service. We had Chicken Parm, Veal Parm, and Seafood Fradiavolo. Growing up in Brooklyn, I certainly know good Italian food. We live a few miles from Sal & Judy's Italian Restaurant which is outside New Orleans and rated 5 Stars (Yelp) and Zagat. Sal greets everyone that comes in and their marinara sauce is sold in all the local supermarkets and Walmart. Frenchies was no different from Sal's. Everything was perfect! I told Sal and he went to eat at Frenchies on his last trip to Houston. He called me and thanked me, that's Sal. I was sad Franco's closed after 50 years in Clear Lake but Frenchies was a great find. If you're ever on the North Shore outside New Orleans, try Sal & Judy's Italian Restaurant and decide if they're equally as good. Or, take a look at their website! Everyone in NOLA knows Sal Impastato (from Sicily). If you find yourself near Little Italy in Brooklyn. NY try Evelina, Barano, or Carmentas Italian Restaurants. Frenchies food is comparable quality to better NYC Italian Restaurants! I'll add pic's later! Thank-you, for 1st class Italian food. Bravo, assolutamente perfetto!

My husband had the veal parmesan. His came with a side of pasta which was a alfredo style. Both meals come with a fresh salad. The food was utterly delicious. Portions fair for the price.
