What a beautiful place for a date night dinner! The establishment is very chic inside and the staff were incredible. Very attentive and hospitable. I'm on a cleanse so I had to a vegetarian option. I ate the beet salad with espresso dust. At first I thought, "espresso dust!?!?" It was delicious. My date had steak and lobster tails which he enjoyed. The drink of choice is the White Walker. Awful, awful brunch experience. Drinks were terribly mixed and watered down. Food was inedibly prepared -- over-cooked eggs, tough-as-leather lobster, burned bread you couldn't cut through with a chainsaw. An hour and twenty minutes before the mains arrived. Never once asked how we enjoyed our food. When we finally located a manager at the end of the meal, he was incredibly rude and suggested he would "check the security footage" to confirm how much we did or didn't enjoy our meal. He finally said he would adjust the bill -- by which I assumed he meant comp the meal -- and instead only removed a single entree and cocktail. All three in our party ordered roughly the same meal with the same issues throughout. No apologies, bad food, poor service, accusatory tone and virtually no effort to correct or compensate. There is a main dinning area, a back garden area, a basement (cigar room) downstairs, along with an outdoor patio area in the back. This restaurant is HUGE! Food absolutely magnificent! Totally overpriced food and drinks but I think that's because of the crowd they want to keep. I see a lot of celebrities and industry people in and out of here, mass amount of influencers as well. So if you're trying to be low key this is not the spot. On the other hand it's very romantic, very fun, very beautiful people, young and old. Everyone is talking, laughing and having fun over great cocktails. Seems like a lot of business deals go down here. Their cocktails are INCREDIBLE! I mean it! If I had to pick expensive cocktail or expensive food. I would certainly choose the cocktails. I would also stay away from the oysters. I was not a fan at all. We were here last night having dinner before going to see Peabo Bryson at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. We started off with martinis which were made perfectly. We had the cold lobster cocktail and clams oreganata as our appetizers following with the fettuccine truffle with rock shrimp and the Colorado lamb and I have to say everything was excellent. The lamb was so tender and cooked to perfection. To end our dining experience we opted for cappuccinos and the spumoni Di banana which was the perfect finishing touch. Sofia is always a 5 star for us, tonight it's going to be a 3. This back patio room is just not it. Unless you want to have freezing ankles for a whole meal, I don't suggest you sit back here. Don't be misled by the portion. I couldn't finish it. The menu spells Macaroni w/ an 'h'. We learned a new pasta noodle type. Cesar Salad- was kinda blah. Too iceberg-y. I'm a extra Parmesan Cheese/ thick Dressing loaded w/ Black Pepper type of Cesar salad girl, lol! Yes a whole description! Surf & Turf: impressive plate in presentation and portion size. Lobster and Fillet Mignon, a side a Asparagus w/ a crusted Parm cheese layer a top. Chopped Salad: a house salad revisited w/ a healthy kick of Bleu Cheese and Red Onions. 2nd part of our visit was the Cigar Lounge. We enjoyed the Super Bowl. Got Puffy on an Ashton Magnum & Tatiana Rum, sipped some more and Nibbed on some Truffle Fries (which could use a yummier aioli). 9/10 would recommend. Upon checking in with the host, we were taken to the downstairs and our seat is actually located outside but they have the outdoor dining area covered up so it's not cold at all. They have the lighting decoration and it looks really dreamy and romantic. Every dish we ordered that night is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. It's been a long time coming for me to try Sofia. I remember working in Bergen County, doing media coverage for their opening and always curious about their food and experience. I've since moved to the West, and am now back in town for a visit. Naturally needed a late night dinner spot for a bff catch up and chose Sofia. We had a late night reservation for 9:15pm on a Friday night. This place was packed! So interesting because the surrounding areas were still. We waited a few minutes to be seated, only to be packed in like sardines in between a number of parties already present. My friend squeezed into the booth as the guests on either sides pulled their jackets in closer to reveal her actual seat. I pulled out my chair and pushed in as closely to the table as possible as I sat in a busy walking path for servers, staff and guests alike. Again, the Friday night hustle and bustle, but this place was packed and really hard to focus in on our conversation - draining even, to utilize so much energy to focus. It was probably not the best pick for a catch up. The food here was good. We were served bread with an olive oil dip and a tomato dip and ordered a Prosecco and Pino Grigio. We started the night with some mussels which were good, the smell needed some getting used to. I ordered the Chicken Milanese which was a breaded/pounded chicken topped with an arugula salad. The chicken had a nice crunch and flavor to it. It was pounded well and easy to cut into. The salad was nice and something you can't go wrong with. My friend ordered the rigatoni al cacio e pepe. This was ribeye carpaccio and a simple peppercorn and pecorino. The portions were filling, but my food was taken away before I was even finished - my friend was asked if she was done, which she clearly was, but they immediately took my plate away even though there was still food on it. I was too taken aback to say anything since I wasn't even asked. Overall, I'm not excited to rush back to dine here. If I were to visit again, I'd go for lunch on a weekday where it could be less busy. Glad I finally got to try it out though. read more

We both opted for the 3 course lunch ($42). For apps we chose sizzling bacon and French onion soup. Second course I had chicken milanese and my Dad chose the branzino which included a $12 upcharge. For desert, gelato & a cannoli. For a lunch with a $100 tab, it fell a little short of my expectations. I would have enjoyed the french onion soup and the chicken milanese with a tad more seasoning. The service here was quick and I really liked the presentation of how food was served to us on the table. Desert menu has a few different options, and my family liked everything they ordered for desert. To get there we walked downstairs, through a long, smoke-filled hallway and bar area, back up stairs, and outside to a tented patio area. Initially it felt very nice but within 30 mins we realized the heaters weren't powerful enough and it was freezing. So we put on our winter coats and hurried through the remainder of our dinner. Nowhere in my reservation did it say outside seating so a bit disappointed to have this experience for $275. To top it off, we left smelling like smoke from walking through and waiting in the smoke filled rooms to use bathroom and go to/from patio. I went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ, which really added to the fun. The service was exceptional. The chef was incredibly personable and even came out to check on us and talk about the meal--such a thoughtful touch. The food was extremely fresh, and they even offered a special dish that wasn't on the menu. Drinks were on point, and I also ordered a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with the meal.
