Wayne gave me a quote over the phone based on another company's quote. He gave me a price and when he came to do the in person quote the price remained the same. Super impressive! I was tired of the back yard looking like a desert. Wayne and his team came and installed the irrigation system and laid down the grass and completed it within 2 days. We did come across some miscommunication, however Wayne gladly corrected the issue and came back to put the finishing touches on it. I highly recommend anyone to use his service. It was a bonus for me that they offered military discount!! The only thing I have to say is the crew didn't. Clean up the mud that was left on my back patio. Other than that I'm one happy customer! This is a great company to get any services you need for landscaping, Wayne and his team helped us repair our very old sprinkler system, we had leaks on top of leaks and broken heads and at the same time I learned a lot. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. First getting ahold of them is so difficult. Doesn't answer phone calls and texts go without a reply. We hired this company a few months ago to do our sod and sprinkler system and they rescheduled many times. They told us they were going to be there on certain days and would just not show up. Finally our sod and sprinklers were installed but half of our lawn died because the sprinklers were not covering all of the lawn. Called Wayne many times to have him fix this and it took weeks for him to come out. He sent someone out to fix then when someone did come they rescheduled again to actually do the labor. They decided to replace the sod with different sod but it was a different one then originally installed so they're completely different colors. Looks very patchy. All of that dead sod he threw on my side yard claiming he would come back to haul away. This was back in September. I have called and texted Wayne many times and he finally said he would reimburse us if we have someone take care of it. Then he claimed he would send a check. Months have gone by as it is now December and still have this giant pile of dead sod on my side yard.DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. This is just a game for you to cal, or get him to come to your house for a quote. I had him quote me on a 500 square foot piece (small i know) that needed to be graded like his ad says on craigslist and slight sprinkler work. He then quotes me 685 which is not $1 a square foot its $1.37. This guy is a typical used car salesman bait and switch. When I called him out on the price hike he simply said don't text me anymore. If your looking for quality sod or great service you should look elsewhere. I contacted Wayne and told him that my current yard had weeds and dirt and would like an estimate on the install of sod. He assured me that they cut the dirt down enough to get rid of the weeds and roots as not to worry, the sod would be fine. He also stated that his sod comes from a farm that is superior to Home Depot. Wayne sent out an estimator to measure. I was then contacted by Wayne with the price and felt it was reasonable provided he gave me a one year warranty. Turned out the estimation was wrong and they ran out of sod on the day of install (Fri). Not to mention the cutter they rented had no blade so the job was delayed two hours while they searched for another one. Once the sod was down the worker told me he would go to Home Depot the next morning (Sat) and bring enough sod to fill in the blank areas. I spoke to Wayne that evening and he asked me how I liked the sod. I said it looks great for what is done but it's not complete. Told him your worker is bringing sod from Home Depot tomorrow morning to finish. He said that he didn't want that and I would have to wait until Mon so they could get the remaining sod from the same farm. He stated he was not aware that they had ran out because nobody told him. He told me to send pictures so I did. Wouldn't you know it, they came out Mon late morning with sod from Home Depot. The worker confirmed it. I called Wayne to explain and he said send me pictures. I sent again. Within days the Home Depot grass was dying. After a week I started seeing weeds breaking through my sod that was supposed to be guaranteed. I called Wayne and he said send pictures. He claimed I wasn't watering enough, however in those same areas the weeds were thriving. Wayne said he would be out to look at it and bring weed killer. Wayne never showed up. I called him again and he said sorry I got busy and it will have to be the next day. The next day no show again. I called him and sent text messages to no reply. I also included (since he loves pics) the large growth of weeds and dead grass. To this day I have never heard from Wayne. I will start by saying my sod took and does look good. The only thing the sod man has going for him is a couple good workers. Initial price was good. I was told compost would be mixed to lighten up my clay filled dirt. i showed up and there was 13 small bags of manure being mixed in to my 2300 sq. ft area . When i approached Wayne i was told its the same thing as compost. When he finally admitted it wasn't he offered me 1 year warranty. I told him i wanted what i paid for so i took my truck along with his worker to puck up real compost. we had a misunderstanding about me wanting my back dirt area graded for an additional 600. I expected a bobcat. Nope just a rototiller and a rake. OK... no biggie... so because he didn't expect to grade he didn't order a dumpster. understandable. I paid the full 600 but he left me a mound of dirt and weeds along with all the pallets. i had to rent a trailer and shovel 2,000+ lbs of dirt, rock, and weeds and pay to dump it. He kept nickle and diming me and i have texts and the contract to prove it. He told me a certain price for the entire job (SOD, sprinklers, tilling/compost, and grading). He had me purchase the sod directly and later tried to tell me that the tax for the sod wasn't part of his job. Then after he gave me a receipt with a final amount due (plus the 600 for grading) the price magically went up $60 after i demanded the compost like i was originally quoted for. The dollar price didn't matter to me but i had 2 if not three instances where he was trying to defend discrepancies in price. I ended up tipping his guys more than what Wanye tried to nickel and dime me for anyway. To wrap it all up. i ended up with an indoor timer mounted outside and a failed valve and flooded yard within a week. i contacted wayne and he said someone would be out that Saturday. No Show.. No call... no follow up. so much for the warranty. In all fairness my sod took and yard looks good. I won't say don't use his service just be sure everything is clear and concise to be sure you get what you paid for and the way it was quoted to you. read more

I have have no problem with recommending the Sodman for anyone that needs a new lawn. I called on a Wednesday to get a quote, and his guys were here prepping by Friday. Sod was installed Monday and it looks great. The only hiccup was that they came up a little short on the square footage, and I needed to finish it myself. Really not a big deal, and could have been prevented by me if I'd have questioned the total, which I should have because my measurements were higher. I guess in a way it was a good thing because I got more prep for less money. Will definitely call him when I'm ready to do my front yard. read more

Not pleased at all. We ordered a large amount of sod to be placed down on our lot. We were told that we would have a years warranty if anything with the sprinklers (that the company placed in) or sod were to happen. About two weeks into having new sod, some spots started turning brown and dying. We contacted the owner and he came back out and "fixed" part of the sod by laying new sod. We ended up fixing some of the sprinklers that were not even spraying the grass that we were told would be fixed but never were. We were told that the he would come back out in a few weeks to assess the other parts of the lawn that were dying and we would go from there, but he had high hopes of the grass growing in those spots again. When we called him back to do as he said he would we were told that it was our fault that the sod was dying and it was from lack of watering and if we wanted him to replace any of the sprinklers or sod we were to have to pay for it again. If it were our fault and from lack of watering as the owner said it was then the entire backyard would have dead grass, not just large parts of it. Some spots are beautiful green, a lot of spots are brown, dead and will probably not grow back. All in all, we would not recommend this company nor go back to this company again. About a month and a half of having The SodMan lay grass for us and we are very unhappy customers. False advertisement with the "years warranty", poor installation of sprinklers and an unprofessional crew/owner. About 15,000 square feet of sod laid, about 7,000 square feet of sod dead. read more
