    Amazing selection of pastries.

Stopped in here before a morning meeting at the university - situated perfectly for this! Have been following (ie stalking) them for a while on Instagram and after once doing a placement in Sweden, I am forever on the hunt for decent fika at home. This place lived up to my expectations & more. It had such a cool industrial set up to it with lots of lovely hygge touches that we've come to expect. Got a table by the window to look out at people in the rain and feel smug whilst I was cosy and warm. The waitresses were lovely and came over right away to take an order. After eyeing up all the cakes I settled for an easy kanelbulle. The dough was delicious and knotted up all fancy with the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar inside. It was clearly cooked fresh very recently and paired perfectly with my flat white. Check out that coffee art too!! Overall it was fab and I'm only sorry I couldn't spend longer in there. I'll be hoping to get through soon to sample their sourdough pizzas as spotted a huge pizza oven in the back. Also took away plenty of treats including a raspberry and chocolate jam which I cannot wait to try! Thanks Soderberg for providing the best fika this side of the North Sea - please come to Glasgow soon though.

There's a limited menu here for lunch but from the options you can choose from, they're absolutely delicious. I came here for the sourdough pizza. Was absolutely craving it and it hit just the spot. There pizza's are thin crust and baked in proper pizza oven. For a large 8 slice pizza (easily shared between two people) it's comes at a good £12 price. We opted for a half vegetarian, half meat pizza coupled with a mug of their specialty hot chocolate. First, pizza was perfectly cooked. The dough was flavourful and slightly crispy, warm and perfectly cooked. Toppings were generous but not overloaded. Second, Soderberg is known for their drinks and their speciality hot chocolates are an incredibly interesting taste (in a good way). I tried the cardamom hot chocolate which wasn't what I expected but it had a wonderful rich chocolate taste. Overall, it's quite a small location so easily packed, but would definitely recommend for a date or small group meals. Especially if you're looking for some good pizza, this hits the spot perfectly.

    My 2 (?) slices of margarita. £3.

After viewing some properties in the quarter mile development, it seemed important to venture into the world of food, drink and retailers that this area had to offer. Soderberg is a great space, that they've made homely with lanterns hung from the ceiling and comfy seats to sit at. Considering they had a glass box to work with, they've made great use of the space and it's a lovely spot to people watch. The coffees here aren't the best in Edinburgh and with Brew Lab being an 8 minute stroll away, I'd say it's worth the walk for a proper coffee there, however, does Brew Lab offer sourdough pizzas? The answer is no, and even if they did, they wouldn't touch the Swedish sourdough deliciousness that Soderberg offers. Pizza can be bought in multiples of 2 slices, with a simple offering of margarita, and regularly changing specials of a meat option and veggie alternative. I opted for 2 slices of the margarita and was really impressed. Thin sourdough base, creamy mozzarella and a tangy yet sweet sauce. I also had 3 slices arrive instead of 2, so considered this to be my lucky day.

Perfect lunch spot tucked away a bit behind Peter's Yard in the Quartermile serving up quality sourdough pizza and lovely healthy salads.

The third time I had to argue with the staff to sell me a slice of cake, as they claimed "the kitchen was closed" even though I just wanted cake and it was on their counter. Eventually they gave it to me, but again, confusing. I went this week for the fourth time and was actually served, which was a nice change. It's a beautiful place to sit and work, with lots of nooks, couches, plants and windows. They have foosball. They play good music. The food is good. The concept is "Swedish Living Room" which is cute. I tried the big Green Salad with added steak. Very tasty, fresh, good dressing. The steak (+£4) was a very small portion. I also had their sweet potato fries with spiced aoili - yum! Really really good. And the warm chocolate cake... incredible! Like a brownie but superior. It was still a bit slow, and a bit overpriced, but I had a nice time at least. For all my earlier disappointing experiences this time was better. Rating to be revised upwards if future experiences are better.

Good place for university students and others alike!!

A lot of shops like this get a bit funny if you're just having a look - but the lady in The Living Room was lovely and didn't mind at all. All the furniture is arranged into little "rooms", which makes the whole place feel really homely. As well as all sorts of furniture - you'll also find smaller furnishings such as vases, candles and lamps. There are some really nice gifty bits and pieces that would make great presents, and I even spied some gorgeous wooden Christmas decorations on the counter. Prices range from £10 or £20 for small furnishings and lampshades to £2000 for a sofa. Although quite a bit pricier for furniture than a certain unnamed Scandinavian superstore, the furniture in The Living Room is infinitely more individual and stylish and much, much better quality. Worth a trip - even if it's just to dream.

Neither of us had ever been in before, but my guy reminded me that Jack and Victor of Still Game shot some scenes in this shop way back. Even though this shop is called The Living Room, it really caters to the whole home and depending on your style, there really is something for every room. We were in looking at bedroom sets and found one that we really liked, and put it on our list of contenders. The staff in this shop are helpful and polite, but be warned, they don't take kindly to shoplifters. Since it seems there were only two people on staff, in a pretty large shop, they have cameras and notices everywhere that CCTV is in operation. No bother, I'm sure that helps in feeling safe. Towards the back of the shop were bits and bobs of sale items, ranging from discontinued furniture to outdated candles and pillows. Everything still in really great shape, the discounted price just makes them that much sweeter. We left happy with ideas of how we want to furnish our house and even stopped by their larger store in Merchant City (which wasn't as nice as this shop) and fully plan on coming back for other decorating needs.
