In the few years that Moyo has been part of the HK scene, it has deservedly amassed a following…read morethat can appreciate the fusion efforts of two cuisines that are hard to come by on the island. (#1) The Moyo brand has since grown into a number of other projects that have spanned across the city but it all started right here in Central. Like any of restaurant in the neighborhood, seating is tight. The government restrictions over the last couple of years have made it even tighter, resulting in discounted delivery through various local platforms. Indoor dining is back again, but one never truly knows when a future shutdown is happening. The food has remained high end, seasonal, and completely different from the usual dining options in HK. Whether it's been seasonal truffle tofu-toasts, carbonara infused tteokboki, or their winter friendly Korean style sashimi (bang-eo hwae), it's all very good. A personal favorite is their uni rice, which is quite modest in portion size (#2) but straight bangin' in flavor and texture. And unlike many other Korean restaurants, they have a nice Italian selection of wine that pairs quite well with the dishes. While it's been marketed as a fusion establishment, they also do a very good job in representing traditional options as well. Their bossam ssam plate with samgyupsal (pork belly) is tasty and while not always available, jajangmyun is a nice comfort food option. While I no longer live in Hong Kong to enjoy them, I still applaud their efforts from afar. While the food landscape / foreign community is rapidly changing as we speak, I hope they can continue to remain relevant during uncertain times. ______________ (#1) Italian, Korean. (#2) Oh Hong Kong ... why must you be so small?

Another fusion restaurant - this time Korean and French flavors! I am beginning to like fusion…read morecuisines :) Met a dear friend for a late dinner....he is pescatarian so we ordered accordingly. Moyo is right across the street from PMQ so if you see PMQ and see a tiny restaurant across the street that is Moyo. We ordered: Marinated Tofu Salad (Lotus root, purple sweet potato, apple): Lotus root was deep fried which provided a crispy contrast in texture to the soft tofu, apple and purple sweet potato gave it a hint of sweetness Drunken Clams (Rice wine Makgeolli, garlic, lemon zest, chili): Clams were cooked perfectly and we were so happy we got this. Kimchi pork pancake (minus the pork): I'm ALWAYS a fan of kimchi pancake. Even though the pancake could stand to be a teeny bit more crispy at the ends, I loved the kimchi flavor. Brussels Sprouts (Korean dwaenjang paste, almonds, peanut butter): This was stir fried and not roasted as I originally thought it would be. I'm not really a fan of stir fried brussels sprouts but it was interesting with the peanut butter taste which I could barely detect because the dwaenjang paste was stronger. The dishes here were more tapas size and I'm glad we ordered that many dishes. Service was on point and friendly. Moyo is a small and cozy restaurant (you're almost elbow to elbow) with a typical tiny bathroom. A definite place I'll need to try again for the kimchi disco fries and Korean Fried Chicken (sorry Alex, I'll not bring you next time, maybe someone else who is a carnivore).

It was hot and humid, like any day in Hong Kong and I just wanted to sit down. At 1pm, we didn't wait long and the server was very courteous to us. It's always tricky to determine how long the wait will be and I appreciated that he kept checking in with us as we stood outside hot and sweaty from our walk; letting us know that as soon as a group pay their bill, we can be seated. Their set lunches range from $40 to $70, which is reasonable. We both ordered their set lunch no. 9 - soy Korean fried chicken wings. Perfectly marinated and served to us quickly. Their drinks are not as desirable though. I ordered their signature ice coffee and it just didn't hit the spot. for a $15 add on, it was less of a bespoke, unique Korean coffee and more of a Nestle instant with a bit of caramel on top. Their signature dishes? Cheese Egg Roll and Oppa Riceball. This foodie will definitely be returning for more chicken, more cheese, more rice and that chilled and friendly service! OPPA!

Fried chicken. Plain and simple…read more Chicken comes in the form of wings or drummies, bones or no bones, spicey or not spicey. A couple sides options, beer or no beer or non-alcoholic drink....this is the extent of the difficult decisions you will have to make over your meal at Uncle Padak. We had non-spickey, sweet and sourish sauce, boneless, fried chicken (it comes on a big plate and the pieces are small and handable, almost like large chicken bites). It was pretty good for fried chicken bites. Hot, juicy, flavorful. I think the next time I would skip the sauce, get it plain and eat it with salt and pepper. Seemed like mostly dark meat. We also had their egg roll, which is really like an egg omelet of sorts. And as odd as the picture might look, it was really delicious. Chicken or the egg? Why worry...you can have both! The Kornenbourg served on tap was cold, large and served in a proper glass. We went in on a Friday around 6PM or so without a reservation (who would have thunk you needed a resy at a fried chicken joint). They took us, but the place indeed filled up fast. If you are pressed to go and want to enjoy your time, maybe a good idea to call ahead. Meal was not expensive, establishment is small, staff was welcoming and friendly. We will go back!
