Super fun, super chill, and surprisingly informative. The scent selection amazing! I thought I knew what I liked until I started mixing and realized I might've been a vanilla+floral girl all along. The team is friendly, helpful, and makes sure you feel good about your candle before it's poured. No pressure, just good energy. The space is cozy and the whole experience felt like self-care with a social twist. For the price, it's an awesome value, and you leave with a custom candle and a solid good time. Would 100% come back for another class or even just to grab a gift!! Maybe scheduling a girls night soon!

Four days after my $60 candle purchase, a sale went on and I was told, "After reviewing the order history, it appears that you placed an order an order on the 24th and then placed a 2nd order for the same candles four days later during the Black Friday promotion. Unfortunately, we are not able to process a return for the first order. " I ordered from other companies prior to Black Friday sales and was immediately refunded the difference, as is good business practice. I will never order from this company again and encourage others to do the same!

I'll bag a peak any day but if you're sitting ashore you'll be lucky to spot my head far enough out to make you a little nervous, a true mermaid if you will. Having recently relocated to a what might as well be considered a landlocked state (as far North as I am) with no mountains, I was intrigued by the offerings reminding me of home (Malibu & Laguna) and other travels. I booked a class online for bestie and I to partake in over the weekend. Candle making is pretty straight forward, the type of thing I often wonder why Queen of Hobbies hasn't started at home already ;) I also love a great class though! I love learning a craft in a group setting with instruction. We sniffed our way through a variety of beach offerings, each gravitating towards different choices and creating our own special mash up. The jars are all pretty colors, and pouring your wax was really fun. Knowing we created these yummy varietals is what made the entire experience special. I loved the Canva template offerings for custom labels. I picked something very simple and didn't bother really jazzing it up this time around but every part of the experience was a true delight. We have to wait 5 days until we burn them if we want to get the 50 hours of burn time and little miss impatient is counting down. I can't wait to smell my creation. Malibu Apothecary is truly a neighborhood gem that sparks joie! I can't wait to bring my Mom and Sister here. I'd highly recommend for date night, GNO, a fam bam experience or even a nice solo activity. From one SoCal girl to another, Claire nailed this.

Huge selection of candles, holiday decor, and bags. It was so much fun walking around the store. The staff was nice, and when I asked question they were polite when answering.

I have been a regular, devoted, and enthusiastic customer of this store since 2018. Today was my…read morelast day to shop here, my decision. Let me preface this by saying that I worked in retail and high end retail for app 10 years total. Even working a minimum wage retail job in college, I would have been FIRED, no warning, no job retraining, nothing, just fired on the spot, get your stuff and leave now fired if I had dared to treat any customer the way I was treated today, making a total purchase of approximately $525 in about an hour ( I am a very fast and efficient shopper). The head person (not manager because this woman said her manager instructed her to treat customers like this) treated me like I was a criminal and a shop lifter, like I was going to steal their shit to trade for meth. I finally felt so insulted that I said to this old skinny blonde Nazi, "I didn't realize I was in a police station." Very clearly; she heard me the first time and another employee overheard. This Aryan stork said that she had never seen me in this store before, when I have been in that very same store 5 to 6 times this very year, including today's visit where I dropped a wad of $525! There is a super nice lady named Connie who works here; I remember Connie from way back and she remembered me. What is even more baffling: all these small brick and mortar stores are not only competing against Amazon BUT they are also now competing against the many small boutique online stores through Shop. And prices of many items in Sample house are not competitive with Amazon pricing and not even competitive with small online boutique pricing on Shop. Also re some of their cute "nostalgia" cottage core items: just go on Ebay and get the real thing for a steal. The store was not busy when I was there at about 11:45; other customers were purchasing 2 or 3 items or just looking; I was clearly their jackpot customer of the day. When I worked in high end retail and we saw a customer was going all out, we made a little celebration out of it with all the employees pitching in to help the customer and to help each other with tasks. This blonde Nazi needs to get into another line of work altogether! Customer service in retail is NOT her bag and I suspect NOTHING in customer service is her bag. Also, I was wearing very expensive new workout/yoga matching jacket and pants from a very high end retailer: meth addicts trying to shoplift stuff don't dress like this because they can't afford it and it would call too much attention to them. I am not adding this detail to be a snob (I bought the outfit on clearance) but to demonstrate how terribly this woman is misreading cues: she was definitely annoyed that I kept going to the back of the store and boy did she keep her eye on me!!! She practically accused me of trying to steal stuff by hiding it in an inexpensive gift bag, which I planned to purchase, when I was just trying to keep some smaller items organized!!! Talk about the Nazi Institute of Retail Management! I explained to the entire staff that I like buying all my gifts at one time to cover multiple holidays and birthdays: I already have most of my Christmas shopping done at end of April! Also, I explained I was buying gifts for an aunt going through a tough time in physical rehab, for my cousin who has an ongoing physical illness and for my 94 year old mother. The ideal customer base for this sort of store, right? Not according to the Nazi. Never coming back: can get same or similar stuff on Amazon, through stores on Shop and on Ebay.
