To the woman that was working on Monday, July 27th at 930am at window 14 you should be ashamed and disappointed in yourself. I came there to help translate for my grandmother who hasn't received her SSI money for 3 months due to continuous incorrect inputs on the Administration's end, not ours. You spoke to us with entitlement and had the most negative attitude when answering our questions. At the very least, I wish you were more empathetic as so many people who need assistance, especially elders and non-english speakers come here to get their issues resolved. You said they can't fix things on the phone? Well we've come here multiple times. I asked you if we can set a follow up appointment, you said you don't need us to keep coming here. Make it make sense and have a little respect human to human. We didn't come to you with aggression, we didn't wait weeks for the appointment to go sour. We just wanted to make sure things were fixed because all we've been doing is calling, setting appointments, and waiting. If you have children or parents, you should be able to recognize these types of challenges but you sit at a desk and see humans as numbers. Shame on you. read more

I made a reservation to come here and so glad I did because right when you walk in, the security guard will ask if you have an appointment. If you don't he will turn you away. They are located right across the street from Les Sisters Soul Food. The parking lot is not the biggest, but I came on a Friday and it wasn't crowded. Could be a bit tight for larger vehicles though. So after walking in, you need to check in to a machine and you will get a number. Like the DMV, you just wait for your number to be called and you go to your assigned window. My interaction with the agent was fine and it took 5 minutes at the most to get me in and out of there. Now I just have to wait for my replacement card to be sent to me. One thing I did mention to the agent was when I tried to request for a replacement card online, I was informed that I needed to come in to one of their offices. But when I made my appointment, there was no other information like what to bring to the appointment or why I was denied a replacement card online. Luckily, I brought my Passport with me as the agent did ask for it to verify my citizenship as the last time they updated their records was back in the 90's. read more

In the past, you would be able to go to the Social Security office, get in line and see somebody about the issue that you needed to talk to them about. Well, this new administration has changed those policies. You now can go there. Get in line and make an appointment to come back. So today I was in line for about 2 1/2 hours mostly standing outside and then once you get to go inside, you're still standing there for another 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I felt bad for some of the people that came because they were in wheelchairs or walkers standing outside , finally, somebody went up to the security guy and asked them if they could come in to have a seat and then we would save their space in line, they allowed that. So after 2 1/2 hours of waiting, I got my appointment for middle of August. I would recommend if you can make your appointment online . Also make sure you have all your documentations with you , the people behind the window aren't the super friendliest sometimes, I witness some harsh conversations, which was unfortunate. Also, the parking lot is not the largest one so if you can't find parking , there is some street parking. read more

We came in for our 18-month-old son's first Social Security card and were assigned to booth 14. The woman who "helped" us was rude, dismissive, and downright condescending from the moment we sat down. We brought everything required per SSA's own guidelines -- our son's original birth certificate, California driver's license, hospital records, vaccination record, and even a letter from the hospital confirming his birth. She reviewed everything, admitted she could see our son's Social Security number already in the system, and still refused to issue the card. Her reason? She claimed she "couldn't bypass the system" because the vaccination record wasn't fully up to date. That's not just false -- it's absurd. Nowhere in the SSA's policy does it say a child's vaccinations must be current to receive a Social Security card. The record simply needs to identify the child. Instead of helping, she talked down to us, refused to listen, and acted as if we were bothering her for trying to understand the logic. It was a textbook case of government inefficiency mixed with bad attitude. This isn't just about one rude employee -- it's about a broken system that lets poorly trained staff hide behind "the system" instead of actually serving the public. When a parent brings every piece of required documentation and you still say you "can't" process it -- that's not a system issue, that's a training and accountability issue. SSA management: do better. Train your staff. Teach them how to treat people with respect. And fix whatever internal nonsense allows an employee to see a child's Social Security number on screen yet refuse to issue the card. Went there a couple of weeks ago to update my ssc. After waiting for an hour and a half, someone bothered to announce that only those with appointments will be served. A lot of us left because we didn't know we needed appointments. Are appointments easy to make? Absolutely not! To make an appointment, you need to call a number and be on hold for at least two hours. So here's the deal. You need to CALL them and set up an appointment. That is what I did and so I arrived a bit early. You are assigned a number and when they call that number you go to the window where your representative is sitting behind a large plexiglass window like they have at banks. I got called within 10 minutes and the interview took about 20-25 minutes. Easy peasy! Now when you call the office you might be on hold for two hours or more at times, but it is well worth it so you don't have to wait inside the small waiting room. I just put my phone on speaker and go about my day doing things until someone gets on the line; they are very cordial and quick with their responses. I found out today how to DROP OFF information that they request & put in the postmarked envelopes they give you to return either by mail or in the DROP BOX. When you enter the building, immediately go to the right and on the wall there is a small box. Easy peasy! read more

I tried calling a week ago and I hate even trying cause you never get though. I've tried a total of 4 different SSI numbers and none of them connect me to a person. After about a half an hour on hold a recording comes on to call back at another time. well I've done this for a week now calling almost every hour and have yet to talk to anyone. Then they say to go online but I've looked a few times online and there is no category for any of my questions. Why is it so bad. I always dread having to call but when someone schedules a call to you and calls they can't even help you because I asked recently and they said I'd have to call the local branch. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding repeated negative interactions with a staff member named MISS GARCIA at the Chatsworth Social Security Office. Since last year, my family and I have been trying to obtain information regarding health insurance benefits, but every single time we call, we are connected to Miss Garcia. Unfortunately, every interaction with her has been unpleasant. She has consistently been rude, dismissive, and unprofessional--not just with me, but with every member of my family who has spoken with her. Her tone is often sarcastic, and instead of offering assistance, she makes the process more frustrating. We just ended another call with her today, and we feel compelled to speak up, as this pattern of behavior is unacceptable for someone in a public service role. So, I'm not usually one to leave a review for a government building, but wanted to shout out an amazing employee there. Ms. Noor. She went above and beyond her job to help me. Since there was a large and many follow ups that would need to be done, she gave me her number and extension. I got a call from her 6 weeks later and let me know everything she was doing behind the scenes to make sure my daughter got her benefits from her father. There were so many twists in this case, a very long paper trail of a lot of court documents that were all over the place. She took the extra time to speak to me lawyer and receive papers from them about explanations on each case. She didn't need to do that. She could have said I didn't have the papers and sent me away until I got them myself. She was amazing and heaven sent. You guys have an amazing employee on your hands. Thank you! read more

Wow, that was much easier than expected! I had a 9am appointment and was out the door with everything I need completed at 905! Staff (security and the woman who helped me) were beyond nice, very friendly. Everything was very organized, they separated us into "appointment" line (line up based on the time of your appointment) & "non-appointment" line (standby and see how it goes really) When I called to book my initial appointment that was the hardest part with a wait time of about 15 minutes. Social Security Administration .... it is what it is..... a government institution. Yes, there are lines and waiting. What deducted a star was the way this office handled the walk in peeps. You wait in line. When it's your turn, you go into the kiosk, take a number, and wait to be called. While waiting, I noticed that station 7 seemed to be a special station. When it was empty, the guard got a call, and he sent the next person in line to that station. While i waited for an hour and a half, I noticed at least 8 people get the "privilege " to jump right to the customer service desk! When i asked the guard about this, he said this is how this office does it, that the manager is at that station, and he has the guard call up someone. It's kinda not fair if everyone is waiting in line at the same time and certain select people can jump the wait .... boggles my mind. read more

The wait here is not as long as the wait in Van Nuys so we were told to come here by a friend. my mom and I were trying to set up a Social Security retirement for her, and we were told to apply at the offices to ensure there would not be any errors made by us. so we came to this one and there was a bald guy who was helping us out window 18 and he was so sassy and unpleasant but thankfully he helped us so that's fine. I'm just knocking down a star from this place because of his attitude. The man asked us why we came to this office instead of the Van Nuys one which frankly, I don't think it's any of his business, but we explain to him why. I arrived early because the parking lot looked small on the satellite image & I didn't want to be late for my appointment in the event I couldn't find a spot. I got there at 2 PM on a Thursday afternoon & there was just one spot. The lot was still pretty much full when I left at about 3:10 PM. Since I was early, I waited in my car until my appointment then proceeded inside to check in at the digital kiosk & was called to a window about 30 minutes later. Waaay better than the 2 1/2 hour wait time that walk-ins were experiencing. Once I was called, the friendly man helped me with my name change & had me out of there in about 10 minutes. I had all the paperwork I was told to bring so that helped. All in all it was painless. If you're worried about getting a parking spot in time for your appointment, just go a little early & wait in your car. They ask that you not go inside any earlier than 10 minutes before your appointment time. I also highly recommend getting a appointment unless you need to go into the office right away or don't mind waiting there. I made my appointment early in Sept & today (Nov 3 2022) was the first opening available. It did take about 30 minutes waiting on hold after calling the SSA 1-800 number but I was helped by a very pleasant woman after that. As of today they require masks at this location. I had one in my purse but they had disposable ones to hand out also. read more

This review is largely for the security officers who essentially run the waiting room while you wait to be seen for an appointment. Both officers were friendly and greeted everyone arriving, showed them the ticket machine and how to use it, and kept morale up for what was a very long wait. I saw them helping a variety of people without judgment and with a great deal of patience. The wait area itself is small, packed with people and the wait time long, but the security guards kept things running smoothly. When I was seen for my appointment, the social security administrator was really pleasant and quick. Not the most fun afternoon I've spent, but kudos to the folks who work here! read more

I came with the goal of getting a social number for the first time and I was excited. I waited a long time for this moment when I would have all the required documents. To my amazement, the wait was shorter than usual, I only waited one line ahead of me and it was without an appointment. The clerk also helped me when I was missing a certain document and was willing to wait for me to go get it and when I came back I didn't have to wait in line again which was great and then the treatment was completed successfully. read more
