Really rude oath taking moderator
Clarissa T.

What was supposed to have been an amazing achievement and accomplishment for my family turned into a rude and disrespectful experience. The day started well with my family member getting approved for U.S Citizenship after a very looong road traveled and several years of blood, sweat, and tears. If you are a natural born citizen, you are blessed to never have to experience the painstaking efforts it takes to file for citizenship, filling out numerous applications, pay a pretty hefty amount in fees and services, and the back and forth for several years of the application process with the U.S Government. Regardless, finally being approved to be a citizen of this amazing country is all worth it. That said, the experience of being sworn in should have been an amazing one. I've been to other oath taking ceremonies, and normally the moderator is a helpful, pleasent person congratulating all the new oath takers. This office happened to have the exact opposite. The moderator was rude and unhelpful. He seemed to be on a horrible power trip. Mind you, he had an accent and am sure is an immigrant himself. You would think he would know the hardships one has to undergo to go through the citizenship process and have a little empathy with the people in the ceremony, but he was extremely rude. I noticed him telling people in line to, "go back to the end of the line," when they did not have their documents speedy enough for his liking. I also saw someone place their paperwork on the podium to ask him a question about something in their packet, and he rudely responded saying "get your stuff off my podium." It was pretty sad to see these individuals, who worked so hard to obtain their citizenship, have a few questions about their packets of paperwork they received, and him acting like it was such an inconvenience for him to help them. Everyone else in this building was super helpful and polite, from the security guards, to the interviewers. It was this moderator that tainted the experience. What a shame. In his position, he should show humility and helpfulness, after all, he's an immigration "officer" and even shared that he served in our military. Instead, he was arrogant, rude, and condescending. I wish I had gotten his name, but my family asked me to not approach him to share a piece of my mind. This guys should be ashamed of himself for treating newly sworn-in citizens the way he does.

Free Parking lot across the street.

My GC interview went smooth! Less people, less wait time. Officers are friendly and professionally trained.

Are they open on Saturday?

No they are not...

I've been trying to fill out the I-90 form to get a replacement green card (I got it when I was 2 and am now 54, I lost it many years ago!). The form wants my alien number...I have no idea what it was, so what do I put down?! Thanks!

Hi , please call 1-800-375-5283 and follow the instructions. Im sure you will get some help. Good luck.

They are located right across the street from Les Sisters Soul Food. The parking lot is not the biggest, but I came on a Friday and it wasn't crowded. Could be a bit tight for larger vehicles though. So after walking in, you need to check in to a machine and you will get a number. Like the DMV, you just wait for your number to be called and you go to your assigned window. My interaction with the agent was fine and it took 5 minutes at the most to get me in and out of there. Now I just have to wait for my replacement card to be sent to me. One thing I did mention to the agent was when I tried to request for a replacement card online, I was informed that I needed to come in to one of their offices. But when I made my appointment, there was no other information like what to bring to the appointment or why I was denied a replacement card online. Luckily, I brought my Passport with me as the agent did ask for it to verify my citizenship as the last time they updated their records was back in the 90's.

1 Star Review Date of Visit: October 27, 2025…read moreAppointment Time: 2:40 PM Booth #14 This office desperately needs better training, accountability, and basic respect for the public. We came in for our 18-month-old son's first Social Security card and were assigned to booth 14. The woman who "helped" us was rude, dismissive, and downright condescending from the moment we sat down. We brought everything required per SSA's own guidelines -- our son's original birth certificate, California driver's license, hospital records, vaccination record, and even a letter from the hospital confirming his birth. She reviewed everything, admitted she could see our son's Social Security number already in the system, and still refused to issue the card. Her reason? She claimed she "couldn't bypass the system" because the vaccination record wasn't fully up to date. That's not just false -- it's absurd. Nowhere in the SSA's policy does it say a child's vaccinations must be current to receive a Social Security card. The record simply needs to identify the child. Instead of helping, she talked down to us, refused to listen, and acted as if we were bothering her for trying to understand the logic. It was a textbook case of government inefficiency mixed with bad attitude. This isn't just about one rude employee -- it's about a broken system that lets poorly trained staff hide behind "the system" instead of actually serving the public. When a parent brings every piece of required documentation and you still say you "can't" process it -- that's not a system issue, that's a training and accountability issue. SSA management: do better. Train your staff. Teach them how to treat people with respect. And fix whatever internal nonsense allows an employee to see a child's Social Security number on screen yet refuse to issue the card. Absolutely unacceptable experience from a federal agency.
