I still can't believe how amazing our experience was at my husband's green card interview. From security to our interviewer, everyone was genuinely kind, professional, and reassuring. Going into it, it's hard not to imagine every possible negative outcome. As someone with high anxiety, I was honestly terrified and couldn't stop thinking about worst-case scenarios. But the entire process was nothing but positive. Security was friendly, the check-in staff was welcoming, and they clearly explained that there could be a wait and asked us to be patient. While we waited (15 minutes), we scrolled on our phones and chatted to pass the time. When our number was finally called, I swear it took her saying it three times before it registered I was so nervous I basically blacked out. I had prepared a full binder of evidence, and we had also uploaded over 60 documents to our account ahead of time. In the end, our interview lasted no more than 15 minutes, and we were approved on the spot. My biggest advice: be over-prepared. Bring everything bank statements, insurance, photos, travel receipts, shared bills, and anything else that shows your life together. If your relationship is real, your evidence will speak for itself. read more

Officer Pearson was rude and tried to intimidate my wife. I am only leaving a negative review because of officer Pearson otherwise the entire staff and our 2nd offer were awesome. Officer Pearson was trying to have us rescheduled for another day because he was not willing to repeat a question that my wife did not understand. After my wife asked him to rephrase the question and ask again he got up raised his voice and said "I don't have all day", "I am not here to teach you English" my wife speaks and understands English just fine if you speak normally without trying to intimidate her. I paid 3-4k only for the application fees to experience someone like officer Pearson. When we walked to his room he had whole bunch of files and folders on the floor and asked us to make a stop at the copier to hand him the documents so that he can copy. This increases the chances of losing original docs such as passports since there is no table to put your stuff down and organize. He was very rude from the beginning even when I asked him how was his morning going he did not answer nor he asked how are we doing. Officer Pearson just reminding you that our application fees and taxpayer dollars are paying your salary so actually you do have "all day" to be patient and interview us... On the other hand Marcy from reception was awesome and helped us to navigate after that horrible experience. The supervisor (don't remember her name) was awesome at her job to quickly problem solve and move things alone. Our second officer Campbell was incredibly amazing. She was very warm and understanding and conducted the interview at the most professional fashion. It is just heartbreaking to see that employees like Marcy and Officer Campbell are holding the USCIS experience to the highest American standards while employees like Pearson are ruining it. read more

I frequently attend interviews with clients at numerous USCIS offices throughout the state of California. Based on my experience I can say that this is the best office around from top to bottom. The guards are patient and informative. The check in process is smooth and efficient. In particular Andy, Marcy, Caroline, and Elvia are always helpful and go above and beyond with their customer service. (All the check in folks are great I just don't remember the names). They are always smiling and kind to everyone. The officers conducting interviews are well trained and professional. In the rare event where a supervisor is needed, they are there to assist promptly. We went to my wife's interview for marriage petition and pardon for a previous expedited removal from 26 years ago. We waited 20 months for this day the biggest day of my wife's life. They didn't even hear our interview and look at our waivers etc they lured us in and handcuffed my wife and deported her reinstating a removal Order from 26 years ago. This was the same week the LA raids were going on. It's just so sad they trapped us this way. And they walked me and my lawyers out the back entrance and dumped us out by the loading dock so we couldn't go back out the front of building so no one could see the bad stuff their doing !!!!! read more

Free parking in the parking structure across the street. Well organized office, clean bathrooms. Had a 6:50am appointment, got called into the interview around 7:30am. The officer was super friendly and kind, explained the whole process, and was very courteous throughout the entire process. Everyone else in the office who I interacted with was polite and friendly as well. I was able to swear my citizenship oath on the same day, about 3hrs after I got my approval. The only slightly annoying thing was that the oath ceremony was supposed to happen at 9:30, but then got delayed by an hour without anyone ever telling us that things were delayed. We just sat and waited around. But overall this was a great experience and everyone was respectful and polite. read more

What was supposed to have been an amazing achievement and accomplishment for my family turned into a rude and disrespectful experience. The day started well with my family member getting approved for U.S Citizenship after a very looong road traveled and several years of blood, sweat, and tears. If you are a natural born citizen, you are blessed to never have to experience the painstaking efforts it takes to file for citizenship, filling out numerous applications, pay a pretty hefty amount in fees and services, and the back and forth for several years of the application process with the U.S Government. Regardless, finally being approved to be a citizen of this amazing country is all worth it. That said, the experience of being sworn in should have been an amazing one. I've been to other oath taking ceremonies, and normally the moderator is a helpful, pleasent person congratulating all the new oath takers. This office happened to have the exact opposite. The moderator was rude and unhelpful. He seemed to be on a horrible power trip. Mind you, he had an accent and am sure is an immigrant himself. You would think he would know the hardships one has to undergo to go through the citizenship process and have a little empathy with the people in the ceremony, but he was extremely rude. I noticed him telling people in line to, "go back to the end of the line," when they did not have their documents speedy enough for his liking. I also saw someone place their paperwork on the podium to ask him a question about something in their packet, and he rudely responded saying "get your stuff off my podium." It was pretty sad to see these individuals, who worked so hard to obtain their citizenship, have a few questions about their packets of paperwork they received, and him acting like it was such an inconvenience for him to help them. Everyone else in this building was super helpful and polite, from the security guards, to the interviewers. It was this moderator that tainted the experience. What a shame. In his position, he should show humility and helpfulness, after all, he's an immigration "officer" and even shared that he served in our military. Instead, he was arrogant, rude, and condescending. I wish I had gotten his name, but my family asked me to not approach him to share a piece of my mind. This guys should be ashamed of himself for treating newly sworn-in citizens the way he does. read more

I had my citizenship interview on October 8, and today my wife took her oath. I want to express my deepest gratitude to this USCIS office. As far as I know, it's not ethical to mention the names of USCIS employees, so I will simply describe my situation. I want to thank the USCIS office: The security guards at the entrance, particularly the big guy with the mustache. If you're reading this, I'm the big, chubby guy with a wife, a stroller, and kids. I've read a lot of negative comments here about the security staff, but honestly, I think the issue lies with the people themselves. From October to December, I visited this office three times, and during those visits, the security guards (especially the guy with the mustache) felt like family to me. A special thanks to the female officer who conducted my interview. She is a very kind woman with short hair, and her office is near the security area. On the day of the interview, I was extremely nervous. But you were so kind and welcoming that my anxiety quickly disappeared. Thank you so much for your kindness. Thank you for working at USCIS and helping people who truly deserve support. I believe that God will also help you and your loved ones. And my greatest and most heartfelt gratitude goes to the "bad weather officer." I honestly have no words to fully express how thankful we are. Thank you for your call. This was the fastest USCIS visit for me in LA. I had an appointment, the location is a tad further but pretty easy to find with a parking lot across the street. I got there on time, I was able to go inside right away (different than downtown where you always wait in line). I didn't have to wait too much while I was inside, maybe a few minutes? Not bad at all, really. I took care of business fast, everyone was nice, did their jobs and I was out of the door in less than half an hour, no complaints. So if you are scheduled here for anything, it's a better location than downtown. Be on time, and it should be a decent experience. read more

My wife and I did the interview and Oath ceremony a few days ago, everything went smoothly and very fast. All people working there are very kind and professional. This USCIS location is great, free parking lot in front of the entrance. When you get in, after a security check, you have to do the check-in, and make sure to bring your green card and the letter you received for the appointment, during the check-in they will take you also a picture that will be printed on your Naturalization Certificate they will give you during the Oath ceremony. A tip for the interview: make sure to study all 100 questions because are randomly chosen by the computer and spoken out loud to you to answer by the Officer. read more

I had an appointment letter for me and my family's biometrics but it was for another state and date, they made it to the state where my lawyer's office is at and not where I live. So after reading about the walk-in option and how great the Chatsworth office was about it I decided to just show up around 1:30pm one week prior to my appointment (since I read that you have to do the walk-in prior to your appointment, if not you have issues). All of the staff was great, I explained my issue and they made me and my family go through security, then to the manager's desk, he just gave me some forms to fill-up, and then immediately started assigning us to the technicians to take our finger prints, photo and done! In and out in 30 mins, 4 people (me, my wife and two kids). If you have similar issues, I recommend this office for walk-ins. A tip: Go there between 1:00 - 1:30 pm... I noticed the place was empty, we didn't have to wait at all... but when we were leaving more people started to come. It looks like their afternoon appointments start at 2pm... and I guess in the morning they have another block of appointments, but that time between 1 - 2pm must be when they don't have any appointments and you can just walk in and out pretty quickly. Bring your appointment letter with a date of the current day or some time in the future... not an expired one. read more

When I read reviews before going to this office I couldn't believe that a governmental agency, especially USCIS could have such a high rating. But after visiting this location I can nothing else but agree with others. The location looks new (or at least located in a nice area with a lot of new, modern buildings), there's visitor's parking. Security guys are very professional, treat you with respect. Even though my waiting time was 35 min I am not upset considering how nice was the officer who conducted my interview. My wife and I have been to the Chatsworth office a few times, the latest was for her citizenship test last week. We have always been treated well by all of the staff, including security, on every visit. I've read through other reviews and would like to point out a couple of things. One is the processing time is what it is. USCIS website gives estimates on how long these things take so it shouldn't be surprising. Two is security staff is there for everyone's safety. That's their number one priority. That they can and do inform everyone of proper procedures and windows to check in at is helpful. In 4 visits over several years I have never witnessed any rude or inappropriate conduct from security staff. Front office staff is friendly and efficient, back office staff is pleasant and professional. Due to unusual circumstances we have had to escalate our case to management twice. Both times management was professional and very helpful once our situation was understood. On one visit staff and security stayed beyond regular hours in order to complete our documents that day. Extraordinary! Tips for visit: Arrive early as sometimes there is a line to entire the building. Have your appointment letter and ID ready for security. Be prepared for a full security screening similar to airports. You will need to remove shoes, jackets / sweaters, belts, wallets, phones etc. and place them in tubs with purses and paperwork for X-rays. On our January 2020 visit cellphones where allowed in, but you can not make calls or take pictures or videos. No food or drinks allowed. After security you must check in at the appropriate window. If you don't know what window then ask someone. Good luck to all in achieving your goals! read more

The team in this location is inconsiderate and incompetent. They will literally look for any reasons to reject any and all applications. I was helped initially by the receptionist who couldn't read the expiration on a passport and send me away until I showed her how to read this. I was then helped by David Ford who showed a bit of compassion about my situation (uncle passed) but kept saying they could not approve me because I took too long to submit the application and I asked him to show me a policy where it says this and he could not. Finally I asked for his supervisor ( Caroline Nguni) who immediately said she does not want to process my application because it's her discretion and has nothing to do with my form being submitted late. Came here for my interview. My complaint is the security at the entrance. Apart from looking miserable they don't direct you or give you instruction as to checking in. I had no idea I was supposed to present my appointment letter to the window. No one directed me at all. Security just said nothing. I went to the waiting area expecting for someone to call my name. I figured it out eventually after I saw others give their letters at the window. But my appointment time had already past. This could have really effected a very important interview. Everything turned out ok but...Do your simple job and direct people. I don't expect any kind of service other than security and directing people on how to proceed. USCIS please train your security or have a designated staff direct when appointees arrive. This is supposed to be a professional establishment. Other than that the interviewer was fine. read more

Took my grandmother in today and the entire staff was super helpful! Upon entry, the security guards immediately let us know what to do and where to go (we had a wheelchair). We stood in line to go through the security check and one of the officers took my grandma out of line and took care of her while my mom & I continued to wait. The other security guards were really friendly, funny, and quick to get everyone through! Once we entered the office, everything was smooth sailing! We were out of there in fifteen minutes!
