What's stood out most is Dr. Schuda encouraging us to get an MRI which we did (at another specialty hospital) to properly diagnose my dog's ailment. It makes so much sense so that we can customize her therapy and rehab correctly. She has been in communication with all of our vets now, our holistic vet, neurologist, and surgeon. While every case is, of course, unique, we are SO thrilled to share that we have had enormous success with our young pup's dual hind MPL - from limping to now sprinting about, much of which is thanks to the hard work and care Animals Only provided to our pack. When our 9 month old, mixed, small breed puppy, Zaniyah, had a minor slip and fall and could not bear weight on her left hind, exhibiting a limp, we got her checked immediately, thinking she had a minor accident. It ended up being more than we thought: she was diagnosed with MPL grade 3 in her left hind, grade 1-2 in her right hind, and both her hind legs exhibiting bone deformity. We knew we were in for a long haul into territory we had never ventured. I immediately sought consultations with rehab clinics to get her what she needed, in hopes to bypass surgery, if possible. Our primary vet, Dr. Stuart at Coast View, suggested Animal's Only along with other clinics. From the moment I called and spoke with Todd, Animal Only's co-owner and manager, I knew they were going to be a great fit for our baby girl, and would offer a plan tailored to her needs. While the nature of Zaniyah's condition in her left hind ended up requiring surgery, we were able to coordinate with her speciality surgeon in LA alongside AO to give her the best rate of success and full recovery. Dr. Schuda was diligent with keeping Zaniyah's professional team updated, ensuring comprehensive care. Once Zaniyah healed enough from her surgery, approx a month post-op, we resumed PT under AO's care which lasted about 4.5 months. We added some laser therapy to her care alongside the gym and hydro treadmill. We also opted for Adequan injections to help her joints have the proper fluid flow, encouraging healing. We were exceedingly diligent with her at-home care and exercises, adhering to detailed instruction given by Dr. Schuda and the team. From the beginning of our time doing pre-hab/pre-surgery thru her rehabilitation after surgery, Zaniyah loved her time at the clinic, and so did we. While it definitely is a journey of ups and downs - as is the case with the trajectory of this type of healing - so long as you put in the time, care and commitment to the journey, you absolutely will have the support, guidance and top-notch skills needed to get your fur baby to the most optimal outcome. It is worth it. Zaniyah graduated from Animals Only a couple months ago and is truly thriving. Angela scanned the dog for a chip, and when none was found, she took photos of it, posted in local groups near where the dog was found, and before long, we were able to locate the owner. What really touched me was that she didn't just scan and send us on our way. She gave us a harness and leash so the little pup would be safe and secure while we searched for its family. When I called to schedule an appointment for my mini Sheepadoodle, I was questioned about why it had been five months since her last visit. She is still a puppy, I prefer to keep her coat longer, and I regularly bathe and groom her myself. I also clearly stated that she was not matted. However, upon arrival, the groomer immediately began checking her over as if expecting to find matting. She did not I then explained that I wanted her to maintain a sheepdog look while having her coat shortened slightly for the warmer weather. When I picked up my dog, she had been completely shaved down and nothing like what I had asked for. Even more upsetting, she appeared frightened and anxious. I have never seen her react this way after a grooming appointment. She stayed glued to my side the entire evening, which is very unlike her. The groomer chose the quickest option without regard for my instructions or my dog's comfort. I expected professionalism and care, and unfortunately received neither.
