This facility and their entire staff and vet are so caring and compassionate. They are thoughtful and take time with my 11-year-old large breed Swiss Mountain dog. The initial session for 90 minutes flew by and there was a lot of information and services that they offered, including red light therapy, water therapy, gym/physical therapy and Adequan shots. While it can be costly. I feel like the services are 100% worthwhile. It doesn't hurt that. We also have pet insurance. The facility is always clean. In my opinion very well run, organized with receipts being sent over email and confirmation calls and emails. What's stood out most is Dr. Schuda encouraging us to get an MRI which we did (at another specialty hospital) to properly diagnose my dog's ailment. It makes so much sense so that we can customize her therapy and rehab correctly. She has been in communication with all of our vets now, our holistic vet, neurologist, and surgeon. It's like having a specialized liaison to customize Glory's treatment. We are thankful to have found (been referred by a friend) to Animals Only. TLDR: Animals Only offers superior PT and rehabilitation for our precious fur babies. You and your loved ones will feel properly cared for in their beautifully balanced personal and professional clinic. While every case is, of course, unique, we are SO thrilled to share that we have had enormous success with our young pup's dual hind MPL - from limping to now sprinting about, much of which is thanks to the hard work and care Animals Only provided to our pack. When our 9 month old, mixed, small breed puppy, Zaniyah, had a minor slip and fall and could not bear weight on her left hind, exhibiting a limp, we got her checked immediately, thinking she had a minor accident. It ended up being more than we thought: she was diagnosed with MPL grade 3 in her left hind, grade 1-2 in her right hind, and both her hind legs exhibiting bone deformity. We knew we were in for a long haul into territory we had never ventured. I immediately sought consultations with rehab clinics to get her what she needed, in hopes to bypass surgery, if possible. Our primary vet, Dr. Stuart at Coast View, suggested Animal's Only along with other clinics. From the moment I called and spoke with Todd, Animal Only's co-owner and manager, I knew they were going to be a great fit for our baby girl, and would offer a plan tailored to her needs. Animal's Only's convenient location , positive, care-forward vibe from the team and Dr. Schuda's kind, supportive and knowledgeable care only solidified my confidence. Zaniyah loved her new friends, right away, too! Our baby girl was gently pre-habilitated with AO for about 2.5 months to get her ready for surgery, mainly utilizing gym sessions and water/hydrotherapy. While the nature of Zaniyah's condition in her left hind ended up requiring surgery, we were able to coordinate with her speciality surgeon in LA alongside AO to give her the best rate of success and full recovery. Dr. Schuda was diligent with keeping Zaniyah's professional team updated, ensuring comprehensive care. Once Zaniyah healed enough from her surgery, approx a month post-op, we resumed PT under AO's care which lasted about 4.5 months. We added some laser therapy to her care alongside the gym and hydro treadmill. We also opted for Adequan injections to help her joints have the proper fluid flow, encouraging healing. We were exceedingly diligent with her at-home care and exercises, adhering to detailed instruction given by Dr. Schuda and the team. From the beginning of our time doing pre-hab/pre-surgery thru her rehabilitation after surgery, Zaniyah loved her time at the clinic, and so did we. Animals Only has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. A few months ago, my senior pug's strength and endurance was deteriorating crazy fast. And now? He's bounced back 10 times over despite his lack of hearing and vision. Each morning, he's up with a bounce in his step. Every pet (literally) turns into a zoomies session, even if he was awoken straight out of his deepest slumber. Walks? 5 minutes used to be a problem with his stiffness and decreasing coordination. A month and a half of 1x a week sessions later, 30 minutes is NO problem. He'll stomp his paws if I give him a break! And one of my favorite outcomes.. every car ride to his PT sessions, I get serenaded the whole way there (which hasn't ever happened before). Now I didn't know about canine physical therapy until a year ago (they do feline therapy as well!). And until 3 months ago, I thought it was unattainable. But it doesn't have to be. The Animals Only team is truly phenomenal at what they do. They are so kind, accommodating, and empathetic. No referrals needed. Their family-, vet-owned facility is designed to be a calming and welcoming space for all pets (anxious and reactive ones, too) and their humans. They're very accessible through both phone and email. Short: Very disappointed with the practice for their lack of responses, short treatment time for what you are paying and lack of real care. Long: I called to make an appointment back in late 2024 and they scheduled a few weeks out; not a problem. I got a confirmation call a few days before the initial consultation to confirm and then we (me and my dog) showed up for the consultation (which takes a few hours btw), I was told the appointment was cancelled because they were overbooked. I had taken a day off of work for this and even though I was there with my dog, they couldn't do take us in for that appointment. The owner did talk to me about this and said she didn't feel it was good business practice to overbook, which I agree with, but she still wasn't able to make it right at the time which was unfortunate. It sounded like the receptionist made a mistake so one of the owners did offer a 50% discount for the initial intake appointment at a later date which I agreed to. Yet, I had to call to make that appointment because 5 weeks later, I still hadn't heard from them. Magically, when I called, they just happened to have an appointment! Nonetheless, I made the appointment, went through all the steps with my dog and just nothing. I understand that each dog is going to be different and have different responses to everything, but I really felt like I had NO support with them. If your dog is sick and you don't cancel within 24 hours? That's a full payment for any treatment scheduled. I've figured that my dog got "treatment" for about 10 minutes during his 30-minute laser therapy, 8 minutes in his 30-minute hydrotherapy and whatever he was able to put up with in acupuncture. I am not blaming this practice on any issues with my dog. They just simply didn't help or really even care. Still waiting for the call from "the vet" that they said I would get when I canceled my dog's appointment from February 17th. read more

Our dog Sunny had multiple injuries, which led us to seeking PT for him to regain strength and mobility to prevent future issues. Animals Only did a comprehensive assessment and offered a great treatment plan that got him strong and confident again! I am honestly shocked by all of the good reviews because my experience has been far from adequate (at best). From the beginning, communication was scattered and unaligned. I called prior to my dog's TPLO surgery to talk about rehabilitation following the surgery. I was told to bring him in for an assessment, which I did. Then following his TPLO surgery I reached out to let them know he was healed enough to start rehab. At that point they had us come in for another assessment and when I was charged for a second assessment - without being told that I would be charged - I brought it to their attention that I felt it was not appropriate to be charged twice. They said I should have just come in for an assessment after the TPLO surgery. However, I'd been told I needed to bring him in for the first assessment. They did not end up charging us for the second assessment but acted as though they did us a favor and were being gracious. Our Boxer is 80 lbs and when I brought him in after his TPLO surgery I requested help lifting him out of our SUV - the request came as a shock to the doctors and front desk staff. Dr. Schuda did reluctantly end up helping me lift him out of the car - while telling me that there are stairs and ramps available. Both of which we have, but I would think a vet would be aware that following a TPLO surgery, neither of those are an option. The rehab services were fine, however, the hydro sessions were consistently cut short -- 5 minutes when we paid for 30 -- and it was clear sessions weren't actually booked for the full time per patient. We chose to buy the packages and unfortunately, during our treatment our dog sustained a soft tissue injury on his front leg making it impossible to attend rehab sessions. It has been less than a year since I purchased those packages and recently I called to reschedule those sessions now that our dog finally healed - and was told they had expired. I had 7 out of 10 sessions remaining and they refuse to honor them, saying they expire after 6 months. I've now requested a refund letting them know we were unable to attend the sessions because of his injury. Dr. Schuda is refusing to refund me for those sessions stating it is "out of fairness to other clients" and that they had attempted to contact me and I didn't answer. I have no record of those calls - and further, every conversation I had with Dr. Schuda was abrasive, defensive and rude. I experienced her being short and impatient with her staff as well. Had I actually received those calls, I may not have felt up to speaking with them after previous interactions. They should clearly advertise that the package and any refund request must be made within 6 months rather than hide it on fine print on the consent form. I am shocked that my dog being physically unable to attend sessions makes it impossible for us to receive the sessions we paid for or receive a refund. Just beware. They are a company that cares about aesthetics, branding, and bottom line more than the well-being of their patients and their owners. read more

I came to Animals Only upon a recommendation from my primary vet who also used AO for his own dog. My 13 year old dog Della was exhibiting a pretty good limp and signs of pain on her front leg as well as weakness and shaking on her rear legs. Because she was born with a bent front leg, most of her weight had been distributed on the other leg her whole life and at her age the signs were showing. My entire experience with Animals Only from the caring and attentive front staff and vet techs to Dr. Schuda has been and continues to be exceptional! Dr. Schuda initially did an extremely thorough exam and assessment of Della on our first visit and asked lots of key questions to really pinpoint how to help her. Then Dr. Schuda came up with a 6 week detailed treatment plan that included hydrotherapy, shockwave, laser, home PT, home modifications (ramps, etc.), supplements and pain medication. All of our visits were A+ and I can't speak enough positive words to convey how impressed I am with this clinic and its entire staff. The layout of the building allows shy dogs (like Della) the space to feel comfortable and everyone is so respectful of each dog's special needs. There is a healthy level of professionalism while also being warm and welcoming. And the multi-faceted appointment reminder system is very effective in helping you keep all of the appointments straight. And the best part about this whole experience is that the treatments really work! After the 6 week plan, Della is feeling more confident in her movements, is not expressing any yelping or pain, has more stamina and overall acts stronger. We are now on to phase 2 of her plan where we will meet in the gym for Dr. Schuda to develop a home fitness program for her so that I can maintain her progress and stay within my budget. I look forward to continuing to make Della's Golden years the best that I can. And if she is ever in need of some tune-ups in the future I will have Animal's Only right there to assist. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because they didn't have any actual physical therapy scheduled which didn't make any sense. We waited over a week for the first appointment and didn't wish to wait any longer to start our pets physical therapy and recovery. They did accommodate us after I made a bit of a fuss. They performed 2 of the 3 recommended procedures. LASER and Obstacle Course/Gym but didn't have availability for hydrotherapy that day. My dog Rooney sustained a leg/hip injury from getting hit by a car as a puppy prior to me adopting him. For the last 7 years since he gets flare ups that cause lameness and pain both at the injury site as well as his other leg and his back from compensating. I was referred to Animals Only and i have NO regrets. Let me 1st talk about the facility. We've gone to other vets, etc with small waiting rooms where the dogs are top of each other. And the last PT place we went to, all treatments are in a common large space. For injured, reactive dogs, that setup isn't ideal. But at Animals Only, the entrance is spacious and the dogs aren't there long and they are careful to keep the dogs apart when switching rooms, entering the hallway, etc. All treatments are performed in enclosed rooms away from other animals. I can't express how important just that one feature is. Now let me talk about Dr. Schuda and her staff. They are THE BEST! Dr. Schuda has the best bedside manner. Not just to Rooney but to me, his nervous, helicopter-mom/owner too. Everyone is very friendly (shout out to Saje especially :) ) They let me be as involved as I wanted to be (or Rooney needed me to be.) They never made me feel like I was too much or too worried or too anything. They are gentle and sweet with Rooney which makes the experience way less stressful for him. Dr. Schuda will give very detailed treatment plans after her initial and periodic evals including individualized diet and supplement recommendations in order to gain/retain muscle, reduce inflammation, etc. as your pet may require to heal. After 3 months of physical therapy, (laser, gym/obstacle course, hydrotherapy, shockwave, acupuncture) Rooney has put on muscle and doesn't display any limping, lameness or pain outside of his 'normal'. He's a whole new dog. He even gets daily zoomies and attempts to romp with his pup friends again. We will continue to go to Animals Only for maintenance and if he has another flare up. read more

I made an appointment for my dog a month in advance for a water therapy consultation-- a treatment recommended by his vet for his weak and arthritic hind legs. The appointment was very important to me because I want to do everything I can to help my dog. I arranged my monthly work travel schedule, took off work, and flew across country to make this appointment. Animals Only canceled the day before because they said they are too busy. If you care about the health and well being of you animals, do not go here. This place is simply a money hungry cash grab. My dog went in for a consult and I was scheduled him a 4 week therapy plan. This was going to cost around 1500. We went for his first hydrotherapy appointment, unfortunately immediately after he developed a bacterial infection. We notified them that our vet said he could not return for therapy for another 2 weeks. We told them we would touch base after those 2 weeks and let them know how he's doing. Unfortunately it got worse over a holiday weekend and we were waiting to talk to our primary care about the appointment the next day. She got back to us shortly after they opened so we called animals only IMMEDIATELY after. The front desk girl answered and told us they would still be charging for the full appointment because we were 15 minutes too late??? This is just terrible business practice. I own my own business and would never treat customers this way especially if they are dealing with a sick animal. No one ever called to check on our dog through those 2 weeks, all they care about is the cash. We were very upset by this and they threatened to send to collections. Seriously??? Dr. Schuda and the entire staff at Animals Only are absolutely incredible! They have taken such amazing care of my boxer Leo after a major surgery to repair his ACL. His recovery has been fast thanks to the wonderful care he has received from Dolce, Wendy, and Madison who have loved on him like one of their own! Went to a couple of other Accupunture and physical therapy spots before them and did not receive great care but have been so happy with Animals Only that I have also brought my older Australian Shepherd Malu to treatment to resolve some issues with arthritis. I have seen amazing benefits she is like a new dog! Very organized, Saje the office manager has done an incredible job providing top-notch customer care, balancing the schedules, and ensuring that I could bring my pups there at my convenience. Incredible staff, incredible care, for physical therapy, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, laser treatment, and Accupuncture for your pooches this is the best spot in San Diego nobody even comes close!
