I never thought I'd get the energy to write this post bc anything about my boy & that painful day…read morewill haunt me forever but I do know I owed it to this vet & staff to praise them for how much they helped me with this day. I had to make the hardest decision literally of my 35 years to put my sweet old man down, he was 13 and my world. Although it was something no one ever wants to do this staff and doctor helped make the worst day a very special yet lovely experience despite the circumstances. Just wanted to say to anyone who has to make the hard decision how empathic, & incredible everyone was here. If you need to make the hard decision with your baby this truly is the staff to make the decision with. Thank you guys for caring & loving bubba . They even gave me prints of his nose & paws I remember them asking that day & I do know I said yes but I also was in such a tunnel vision of heartbreak I had forgot until I picked his ashes up & saw how special it was. Thank you guys

I absolutely love the staff. No matter how busy or under staffed they are you wouldn't know while interacting with them. The entire staff from front desk to vet techs to the vets are always so kind and willing to take their time and help in anyway possible. I couldn't imagine taking my dog anywhere else. I am grateful for this office and for all of those who make an extremely stressful situation a little easier for me!! Thank you to all.

We've been using Mast Blvd Pet Hospital for six (6) years, the time we've owned our two (rescues)…read more This past week, I took our little Jack Russel Terrier mix in to have a lump on his chin examined. During the exam, the vet told me he'd never seen this before. I thought, "are you kidding me?" So, he said we ought to biopsy the lump to see if it might be cancer. At the time, I was concerned so I opted for this procedure -- at $550. As it turns out, the lump is not cancer, but a cyst. To treat the cyst, we have $21 of antibiotics. And, it appears this is treating the condition. However, I don't believe the vet when he said he'd never seen this. I think he knew he could "sell" us on the biopsy knowing that he could have recommended giving the dog the antibiotics to see if the lump improved. If it didn't, he said surgery would be recommended for the cyst or a cancerous tumor. So, what I suspect is this. While I'm sure it's ethical to do the biopsy, he could have tried the antibiotics first and then see how things go. My feeling is they are looking to "impact revenue" rather than offer a more conservative approach that might save money. I feel like we were taken in this regard. Rather than find ways to save you money, they seem to find ways to spend your money.

I cannot say enough good things about Woodside Animal Hospital in Lakeside. We came here after my…read moredog Sasha had a severe allergic reaction to a bug bite. For weeks, I had tried everything I knew to help ease her irritation--scratching nonstop, patches of missing hair, clearly miserable. Nothing was working. A close friend highly recommended her veterinarian here and loved them so much that she insisted on calling to see if they could squeeze Sasha in. To my surprise (and huge relief), I was able to get a same-day appointment within the hour--which felt like a miracle. When I called, I spoke with Jerry, who was incredibly patient and kind as I explained everything I was seeing with Sasha. She reassured me and let me know Sasha would be examined by Dr. Luken, which immediately put me at ease. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted--and yes, Sasha too. Despite everything she had been through over the past few weeks, she was so excited you would've never known how uncomfortable she'd been. That alone says a lot about the welcoming environment here. One of the coolest surprises? They truly treat animals of all kinds. While waiting, I saw a bearded dragon (which honestly felt mythical )--like an iguana/lizard mix straight out of Australia. It was gnarly in the best way and reassuring to know this hospital is trusted with such a wide range of animals. You can absolutely rest assured your pet is in good hands. Sasha was promptly examined and given a clear, thoughtful treatment plan, including a shot, medication, and a prescription. Everything was explained thoroughly, and I never felt rushed. The staff here is beyond amazing--kind, warm, and genuinely caring, like family. I'm honestly not sure why this place doesn't have an even higher score, because they truly deserve it. I highly recommend Woodside Animal Hospital. They treat your fur baby like their own, and that kind of care is priceless.

However, a couple weeks ago I asked to have tests done when I took my Pepper in for her annual 'trim'. After not hearing back from the vet, I called a week later (Monday). I was told the doctor called and spoke with me the Monday before. I didn't have a call. They told me he would call later that day. Nothing and I actually called later that day and they said he would call. The next day I called again. I later received a call from someone who left a lengthy message that my Pepper had high values for kidney tests, and what I should do (change the diet and bring her back in 3 months for another test). Imagine my shock to get this type of message, something like that requires a 'live' conversation. That evening I left a voicemail asking to be called back the next day. Nothing! I am very disappointed in the lack of concern for me as a parent, that the vet's lack of customer service and empathy indicates the climate has changed at this vet hospital.
