I never thought I'd get the energy to write this post bc anything about my boy & that painful day will haunt me forever but I do know I owed it to this vet & staff to praise them for how much they helped me with this day. I had to make the hardest decision literally of my 35 years to put my sweet old man down, he was 13 and my world. Although it was something no one ever wants to do this staff and doctor helped make the worst day a very special yet lovely experience despite the circumstances. Just wanted to say to anyone who has to make the hard decision how empathic, & incredible everyone was here. If you need to make the hard decision with your baby this truly is the staff to make the decision with. Thank you guys for caring & loving bubba . They even gave me prints of his nose & paws I remember them asking that day & I do know I said yes but I also was in such a tunnel vision of heartbreak I had forgot until I picked his ashes up & saw how special it was. Thank you guys

Clean, professional vet place. We moved recently from LA to San Diego with our 12 year old husky (with a ton of medical history). They reviewed his medical file in advance of his first appointment and correctly diagnosed his ears. We're blessed to have found a vet we like on the first try. We have had our share of bad vet experiences.

We have been going to Jamacha Pet Vets for five or so years, since getting our rescue German Shepherd, Alaska. Through covid and two locations, we never once thought of switching to another vet after seeing what great care Dr Kirkpatrick and the team provided. Over the subsequent years we dealt with an aging Shepherd with a variety of pre-existing health issues, but the care and ongoing treatment we received gave our boy not only more years but more importantly. more good years. I see people occasionally mention they have treatments "pushed on them" so I would like to also address that here. We did a lot, and tried a lot, to keep our boy healthy and comfortable. However, we did not choose to do every single thing available but created a treatment plan with Dr Kirkpatrick that we felt was manageable for all involved. That said, I DID want to understand every potential, even impractical option under the stars in order to make the best decision possible even if we couldn't pursue them all. I appreciated understanding everything and never even once felt pressured to do anything that wasn't right for us. What I did value was Dr Kirkpatrick's honest and candid thoughts about what might work and what might not and helping us make decisions on care together. For the last couple of years we have been in the office every 4 weeks so in that time you get to see an operation and how it runs. The team has always been respectful, responsive, and caring, and there was never an issue we weren't able to easily resolve. Even toward the end when it was really hard to get him in and out of the car the technicians came to the vehicle to give him his injections along with a friendly pet and a manner that kept him calm and comfortable. Laura, thank you for always making it easy on me, you were Alaska's favorite so it's fitting you got one of his last cuddles. When it came time to have to make the hardest decision of all, my boy was surprisingly calm and in good spirits, I know it's because he felt surrounded by friends in a safe place; him being ok made it so much eaaier on me, too. Even that most terrible of days was handled in such a kind and seamless way that it made the unthinkable, bearable. I've written this long review today because it's the only small way I can pay it forward. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr Kirkpatrick (who is just a wonderful human) and his team to anyone, and I hope when the time is right I will be back to see them again.

This is my second, albeit late review. We said goodbye to our 16yo blind husky last year. Dr Dixon provided amazing care and allowed Freeman to remain as comfortable as possible his final months with appropriate pain management instead of worrying over what the pain meds would do to his lab work. Our sweet boy was able to go out for multiple walks each day averaging a total 3 miles. He was able to do the things huskies love right up to end which was so important to us. Before he got to the point of suffering (due to his cancer) we let him go peacefully. That quality of life Dr Dixon provided allowed Freeman to live life fully until the end.

My cat somehow hurt his leg or hip and was limping really bad and in lots of pain. Our regular vet was unavailable to see him today so I found Jamacha Pet Vets on Yelp and they were able to get me in same day within just a couple hours. They looked at my cat and offered pain medicine and said if he doesn't improve within a week it would be good to bring him back in for X-rays which I really appreciated not having to spend $500+ if it wasn't necessary. They got me in super fast, staff and doctor were very kind, I'm really happy with my visit today. They even administered the first pain med for me so I could see how to properly do it. I'll most likely switch to this vet now. Thank you for great service.

Been coming here since both my pups were 3 months old. They bend over backwards to work with my pet insurance company which is a pain in the arse to work with. Both pups have seen all 3 docs but Dr. K is super nice and have done surgery on both pups (spay and neuter). The gals up front are super nice and all the techs are awesome. Been to other vets and the other ones seem to try to upsell. Jamacha pet vets won't do that and will even calculate all possible treatments and allow us to choose what's right for our pups and our budget. I highly recommend them.

Dr Singh diagnosed him with pancreatitis and recommended two days of Iv fluids along with three days of panoquell CA-1 injections at a cost of approximately $4000, Mike was to take Tully home at 6 pm and bring him back at 9 am for the next two days By Wednesday morning when he brought him back his condition appeared to be worsening he was showing signs of pain, weakness and overall declining health. I accompanied mike that night we had asked several staff on Tulllys condition while waiting to see him, but none of them had seen him that day. When dr Singh came in, I asked direct questions about tullys worsening condition and that he appeared to be in pain. We felt that we did not receive clear answers regarding his condition, prognosis or pain management. Tully was so weak that his staff carried him to the car On Thursday morning his health had deteriorated so severely he could not lift his head and we could barely carry him to the car, so a staff technician came out to the car to administer his final injection of panoquell CA1. We showed her that he was trembling in pain and we were now offered pain relief in the form of an Iv injection of morphine. We were told dr Singh would come to the car to discuss Tullys condition, but that conversation never took place. Before leaving I asked what we should do if Tully was not improving by the next day, we were advised to take him to the La Mesa emergency hospital By Friday Tullys condition had become critical he was crying out in pain and we rushed him to the emergency hospital . Within about 30 minutes we learned how severe his condition had become. Mike was faced with the heart breaking decision to euthanize him because he was suffering and his prognosis was extremely poor. Losing a beloved pet is devastating. What has made this experience especially difficult is our feeling that we did receive clear communication about Tullys worsening condition, prognosis, pain management option, or when emergency care should have been sought. We are sharing our experience so that other pet owners will ask detailed questions, closely monitor their pets progress during treatment, and consider seeking a second option if their pets condition continues to decline

Cats may not love vet visits, but they have a wonderful "cat whisperer" (if I'm remembering correctly, her name is Sam). Mind you, notices were sent to her vet. Our vet here is Dr. Rodriguez. We followed her from another vet. She is an outstanding and caring vet. Jacaranda had been seen by Dr. Perry because our regular vet was not available. She had a seizure right in the waiting room, there were quite a few people working on her. Over $1,000. For her episode. She had a seizure at home and it was just the two of us and she took a pill and was fine. Dr. Perry had said dogs have seizures all the time there, which I thought was strange, I have been to a lot of vets over the years and not seen a seizure. Ever. I've mentioned this to other vets who don't seem to know what she's talking about and suggest I go elsewhere if dogs are having seizures all the time in the waiting room. Maybe it's something environmental? Today, after putting Frenchi down over the weekend, she was old and had lived a long life and was not doing great, jacaranda had a seizure and we took her into VCA Mission Valley. We took her to Kearny Mesa and we left after many hours of them not caring for her, it's a real circus there. Don't ever go there. The Mission Valley team got jacaranda back on track and I needed to take her in first thing this morning. Then I get this AI generated message that seems like I'm texting with a person saying that Dr. Perry think she should schedule a T-4 test. She just had one in Jan and it was normal. And dr. Perry is not her doctor. They received messages from VCA about what had gone on, so why harass us about anything right now? Heartless, right? I don't know what's going on there, or why the urgency for billing is happening from a vet that is not her regular vet, but I am sickened. Just crestfallen that we need to change vets because we love Dr. Rodriguez, but if this is what happens when she is out of the office - no thanks! Be aware. I just want to vomit. This is not how a vets office should be dealing with someone who just had a dog die and the other at emergency just days before. I should probably post the heartless conversation I had with two real people. Dr. Rodriguez is out of the office. She should know what is going on there. I am so sickened by this whole situation. We love you, Dr. Rodriguez, but we just can't deal with whatever is going on there. Alaura, whom I spoke with, said she would let them know that Dr. Perry is not her vet. Dr. Perry has never been her vet. She saw Dr. Perry out of necessity. Not for any other reason. Personally, I am just so disgusted. It's not bad enough all of this other stuff happened with our other dogs? It's been a bleak few days - that they were notified about - and I'm at a loss about how I even got texted about this test that the avma says should be done once a year if the last one was normal and it was done in January all of a sudden pops up. Alaura (who has always been very nice, I explained to her I do NOT want a call from management, I am just done) said someone new was working that contacted me (the original text had been AI and contacted me about this random test that doesn't need to be done right now). I should just post the conversation, it was completely mindless even when another person with more experience took over. I'm sure you would see why I am so upset. I've never had any of these random texts about tests before, why now? Why from Dr. Perry when she is not our vet? This is just about the most uncaring thing I've ever seen from a vet, mind you, we have experienced much worse from VSH. At least Rancho isn't performing unnecessary surgeries. So, there's that, at least. I'm just having a really, really bad, terrible time and this was the very, absolute last thing I needed. We won't be returning.

After eight months, my dog started showing sings of allergies again. I called for refills, and they informed me that they would send a message to the veterinarian. After five days I called back, the person answering the phone told me that my dog needed a new evaluation and might need labs, and that the doctor was not comfortable refilling the medication for my dog. This person was very confrontational, cutting me off every time I tried to speak. I told her that I didn't need a year physical or labs for my dog. For weeks, I had tried everything I knew to help ease her irritation--scratching nonstop, patches of missing hair, clearly miserable. Nothing was working. To my surprise (and huge relief), I was able to get a same-day appointment within the hour--which felt like a miracle. When I called, I spoke with Jerry, who was incredibly patient and kind as I explained everything I was seeing with Sasha. She reassured me and let me know Sasha would be examined by Dr. Luken, which immediately put me at ease. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted--and yes, Sasha too. Despite everything she had been through over the past few weeks, she was so excited you would've never known how uncomfortable she'd been. That alone says a lot about the welcoming environment here. One of the coolest surprises? They truly treat animals of all kinds. While waiting, I saw a bearded dragon (which honestly felt mythical )--like an iguana/lizard mix straight out of Australia. It was gnarly in the best way and reassuring to know this hospital is trusted with such a wide range of animals. You can absolutely rest assured your pet is in good hands. Sasha was promptly examined and given a clear, thoughtful treatment plan, including a shot, medication, and a prescription. Everything was explained thoroughly, and I never felt rushed. The staff here is beyond amazing--kind, warm, and genuinely caring, like family. I'm honestly not sure why this place doesn't have an even higher score, because they truly deserve it.
