I ran into an electrical issue at my panel late Sunday evening and lost power to half of my house including the garage. I attempted to troubleshoot myself without success. So I jumped onto yelp and looked for available electricians in my area. I came across a SoCal Electrical and decided to give Steve a call based on his 5-Star rating and feedback. I must say from the moment that I called him at 5 PM on a Sunday I knew I would be in good hands. I explained my situation and he gave me all the information I expected with a very positive attitude. He gave me the service fee price, material exclusions and estimated time of arrival. Steve communicated with me through his time of arrival and showed up on time at 730pm. when he arrived, he was very professional and explained his scope of work. He was able to isolate and troubleshoot the issue and get my power restored within two hours. He also went above and beyond and hung a motion sensor light for me. I am more than happy to recommend Steve for any electrical service you may need. Just the next day he got back to me with a free estimate as promised. Upon the scheduled day (a specific panel had to be ordered) he arrived promptly, was clean, smelled nice and got straight to work! His price was very fair, not the lowest but the most complete....beware of low bids...they usually are incomplete and will make it up with expensive change orders!! I needed some repairs done to two kitchen light fixtures. Steven was able to come in and assess both fixtures. He was able to identify that new ballasts were needed for both fixtures instead of replacing the entire fixture. He ordered ballasts and returned a couple of days later to complete the job. Had a bad outlet and called SoCal electric . Steve asked my issue and responded that we can get someone out later this afternoon....which was great. No mention of cost. Later that afternoon , Jason came by from SoCal electrical and told me that his visit is a std cost of 175.00 just for coming out.... this was real BS from my perspective as I was not advised of any cost for this visit from Steve Arreola nor was an estimate provided for any services rendered in advance of his visit. I didn't want to argue, so we continued and accepted the service visit cost ....Jason was very personable and did replace two receptacles on two outlets. I got charged 185.00 for two outlets. I guess I can be happy that they repaired it in a timely fashion, but feel like the business practice was kind of "unethical" and lacking the customer approval for the visit cost was really unprofessional. read more
