Great people and products!! Bought an amazing slice table for my dining room and it's perfect. Excellent customer service and fast response & delivery. Highly recommend!! read more

Geometric, architecturally-inspired furniture ranging from bold to delicate, with interesting finishes and artful colors, complemented by softer, cozier pieces and culturally rich textiles. While many of the items are simple, the details feel considered, and the builds feel solid. The core designer creates the more visually provocative work--verging on museum pieces or installation art--with all the curated designers contributing interesting work with a familiar, simple cool. Laleh, the co-owner that helped me, was very welcoming. Prices are pretty reasonable for the area; some pieces are priced delightfully low; the sales are not to be missed. Lookin forward to checking back in a few months! (I'm hoping I can hold off that long.) read more

Writing this review from my super cute cotton-stuffed colorful patchwork chair and ottoman. So comfortable. The couple who runs this is very nice and have great taste, and we will definitely be back to check out more of their stuff once we buy a house. Updated to add: Alessandro, the designer, is super awesome. He delivered the furniture himself, and then we discovered a missing button 2 weeks later he drove out right away and sewed it on -- no additional charge, and a kind and interesting man. :) read more

Beautiful Contemporary Design and Craftsmanship! After looking for occasional tables for my family room for years, I finally found the perfect ones - Sobu's Pablo Coffee and Side table. Online ordering and delivery was seamless - even under the shelter-at-home orders. Kudo's to everyone at Sobu! read more

Let me start by saying everything they sell is beautiful. There is so much I want to buy in this store. If it were for product I would give it 5 stars. High quality, well curated selection and unique pieces that won't make your space look like it came straight out of a Crate and Barrel or Room and Board catalogue. Customer service, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. At least on Saturdays (seems to always be the same salesperson). The salesperson never asks if you need help/have questions, even when it is obvious you are seriously considering an item. He seems to be annoyed with any questions. At one point when asking for dimensions on a modular sofa he snipped "you can find it on the website". When checking someone out he answered his phone in the middle of the transaction and was complaining to someone about another employee. To the owners: We came in to make a pretty sizable furniture purchase but were so turned off by this treatment that we went somewhere else for the same product. Please treat your customers nicely and we will become frequent visitors! read more

Overall wonderful experience! I purchased the beautiful Mars live edge dining table from SOBU. I visited the store to see the table in person. Laleh was great to work with, flexible, accommodating and has a great eye for design. I wanted everything in her store! Everything from ordering the table to delivery was smooth and efficient. I will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

Overall a wonderful experience! I purchased a beautiful black Mars live edge dining table from SOBU. Laleh was great to work with, flexible, accommodating and has a great eye for design when reviewing my dining room setup. We changed the table color from walnut to black after her review and it was absolutely the right call! It took a few months to get the table but it was worth the wait. Laleh and Alessandro were extremely accommodating due to the wait and lack of supply. There is always something interesting to browse in their store! read more

I first encountered SOBU on Pinterest and went to their website to check it out. I fell in love with the reclaimed teak rocker. I love the fact that the materials are repurposed. The pieces are beautifully designed and environmentally kind. I bought this rocker sight unseen and without sitting on it. I was a leap of faith on my part. The rocker came a day later and was protectively packaged. It was perfect and I love absolutely everything about it! Thanks Laleh and Alessandro for such a beautiful product! read more

I am way past due for this review, me and my wife were shopping around for furnitures around the bay area and it was a very stressful experience, fortunately we found SOBU, they carry a vast variety of indoor and outdoor products that fitted our needs. They provide us with free consultation on interior design ideas, and we are talking directly to the designer, not a salesman. The furnitures are hand made by the designer with great details, they are exceptionally well made and they only produce at a limited number of quantities. The price is very reasonable, much better than other big name brands out there. Upon delivery, the designer even came out to deliver and completed the installation to ensure everything is done 100%! We are very happy with the purchase and we always get compliments when we have guests over. We definitely recommend everyone who have good tastes, values environmental friendly products and the quality of craftsmanship to visit this shop. You won't be disappointed! read more

A gem of a neighborhood store! The fiancée discovered this place and brought me here to look at the chairs. And they did not disappoint! I wish had more bar space/living room space so I could buy one of each! We were greeted at the door by Alessandro, the owner and designer (what a nice guy!). We're looking for 2 chairs for our living room and couldn't decide between the wood and metal rocker or its dining room chair equivalent. He suggested that we get one of each and decide which one was better suited for our place. I really appreciated his service and easy-going approach. His chairs are very unique, beautifully made and locally-designed. Sobu is why I buy in Oakland! Plus, Alessandro is so nice and gracious. It is so refreshing to meet someone who is not jaded, appreciative and grateful for business. You have to visit the store and see these chairs for yourself. Check out the rocker and don't miss the marble, wood and steel stool. Gorgeous! read more

Lovely furniture, but one star for customer service. I came in last week to purchase some furniture I saw online. When I walked in, the woman working there (identified herself as wife of the furniture maker) did not look up or greet me. After about 15 minutes of looking around, I went and asked her about the chair/ottoman set I came in to purchase. She said it was in the loft (accessible/visible in store). I expressed interest in purchasing it, and she said she would email me in a few days when she could get it down and I could come take a look. Over a week later, and...nada! Blowing off biz like that is well, unprofessional, to say the least, and doesn't bode well for my experience with SOBU. read more

What an Amazing find! Sobu's beautiful/carefully curated collection drew my attention. Their selection is divine - you simply can't ignore exquisite taste and charm for the home. I'm not local to their brick and mortar otherwise I'd probably be in too often - though via their user friendly site, the N3/4 Stool was a specific style I was hoping to find. Laleh is the sweetest. My order delivered seamlessly. I'm looking forward to shopping with them again. read more

Unique furniture, right in the neighborhood. Many pieces are desigbed by the owner. Selection rotates fairly regularly, so nice to pop in from time to time. Service is knowledgeable and friendly. Delivery options available. read more

They've got great stuff at this spot. I was walking by one day and saw a console through the window and was sold. To the utter disappointment of my girlfriend and me, the console didn't fit, but Alessandro both dropped off and came back and picked up with no questions asked. We're definitely going to go back because there are certainly other items that we know will work. Loved the look of what Laleh and Alessandro produce and glad to see they've got their first brick and mortar store. Great addition to Old Oakland. read more

I love this shop! Great mix of creative art and furniture at prices that are reasonable given Rockridge location. I bought a cool Moroccan fabric that I am using as tablecloth, but can also be used as beach towel or wrap! Have my eye on coffee table and art work too. Definitely a place I will be visiting again soon! read more

SOBU - Furniture Stores Near Me - Oakland, California

Bought a gorgeous console table here and we are thrilled with it. They arranged white glove delivery to set it up for us as first-time customers. Is a stupendous piece that adds an artistic and mod touch to our dining room area. We love it! Was ordered and delivered promptly. Only problem was the shelves were imperfect, slightly wobbly (though perhaps no one other than my husband would have cared!). We had them adjusted for size and the Owner of SOBU (the creator/artist?) assured us he would reimburse us the cost of adjusting them. Was quickly credited to our account. We would recommend him and his furniture highly. A complete visual and personal pleasure! read more

I came across Sobu on Instagram (of all places!) and instantly fell in love with their pieces. I went into the store that same day and was thrilled to find such beautiful and reasonably priced furniture. Laleh was incredibly helpful and responsive in our email exchanges to finalize the order and schedule delivery. I look forward to my next opportunity to purchase something from this lovely store. read more

Beautiful furniture that not only has great design but is also eco friendly. Dealt with Laleh and she was such a pleasure to work with. Great communication and customer service and had no issues shipping my rocking chair. The chair is wonderful and fits well into my decor. Look forward to seeing more from them. read more

To start with, I am very lazy on writing review, and this is my first proper Yelp review. My husband and I are so in love with Sobu. We feel so lucky to have this privilege to live so close by that we can walk in any weekend on the way to Markethall. We recently bought a Juno desk. It took 3 weeks until the desk is delivered to our house. And the owner + desk designer Alex showed up at our house on a Saturday with two other nice guys. Alex is so passionate about his furniture for sure, and so do we. We'll definitely continue make our regular visits, and I am sure we'll find lots of things in the future. read more

I love this place. I can't afford most of the stuff they sell, it's very expensive. But their items are so beautiful and unique, and very much my style - it's got that natural organic look yet modern. I love to walk in & look around. I did buy one thing here - an end table made of reclaimed wood. It was a treat. read more

Thank you SOBU for raising the bar of Rockridge furniture shops.
