If you are in Salisbury and want to eat the best food you've ever had in your life, then come to Sobo's. If you like blue crab then get the Maryland Blue Crab Trio off of their small plates menu. They have a brand new menu too so they are eager to please. Try the pumpkin creme brûlée if you want your life to be completed. read more

This has been our favorite date restaurant for years and we have enjoyed many wonderful meals here. We moved and didn't get there for over a year - went last weekend and were sorely disappointed. New chef? I don't know, but the feel of the menu was missing something (seemed somewhat ho hum), and the quality of the food definitely wasn't what it had been. Sadly, after having many wonderful meals here, this is probably our last. I don't think it was just us. The woman at the table next to us mentioned the food was "hit or miss" and a good friend went at Christmastime and was also disappointed in her meal (cartilage left in lobster). No longer worth the drive for us, we will eat closer to home now. One other thing, I happened to look at the glass my husband's second beer was in - there was lipstick on it. Needless to say, he doesn't wear lipstick and mine was long gone. The waitress did offer a new one, which he declined. She took the second beer off his tab. read more

Out of the six people at our table, three had a decent meal. The beef that was served was not cooked to anyone's order. One person in our party had to wait for hers to be cooked again. Very over priced for mediocre food. There was no attempt by management to do anything for the person at our table that basically ate alone. Will not return. read more

Although I like the atmosphere for an elegant meal, the food I have had is truly mediocre - no matter how many times I return and give it another chance! The combinations of ingredients seem to often be composed to impress rather than taste. The Ahi Tuna stack is one of the more pretentious and inedible (both physically difficult to eat given it's combination of soft foods on hard crackers and because of the terrible combination of flavors and textures.) I should add that this dish seems to be constantly modified to greater or lesser success. The last dish I tried was "grilled peppers" that arrived and had the texture of stewed tomatoes with no flavor - as if they had been boiled. I know people who like this place, but I would advise you stick to more traditional dishes that are not just about show. read more

I have frequented Sobo's 4 times in the last month only because I purchased the Delmarva Daily deal and will not return. It is inconsistent and if you don't get there before 7 pm for dinner, They will not have your choice of entree. The crab cakes had so many shells it was difficult to consume. I witnessed my server drop the bread tongs on the filthy floor and pick them up and stick them in his apron pocket. Watch your bill because the server will purposely not give you a discount if you have one hoping that you will not notice. When one has to ask for water, silverware, bread, butter, extra napkin and the bill 3 times to be corrected there is something wrong. Customer service is terrible food is average; got 3 scallops for over $20. Save your money. Poor selection of wine also. If you rate their food as excellent you have not experienced the fine taste of a true gourmet chef. read more

Usually food is excellent, but this last time I was very disappointed! First, I did not expect there to be mostly fish on the menu!! One chicken dish with fish on it, steak with fish on it??yeah I get that you can take the fish off but quite pricey for a dish that isn't complete. You all know that when you start switching things it is never the same. The only vegetarian dish was risotto that was very lackluster and again expensive for basically a side dish! We all had salads for dinner. Did I mention I was dispappointed? sobos was my go to restaurant in Salisbury...I will have to look elsewhere. read more

Had a business dinner on Feb 8 four of us. It turned out a big disappointment. Servers are not trained and not knowledgeable about how to wait on tables. Foods came out poorly done so the manager offered desserts for us free of charge. Too bad there are not much better choices in town. Yet, this joint should not rip off customers with over priced mediocre food and service. Could've been OK for bar customers. read more

I brought my daughter here to celebrate her college graduation. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had. 2 of us ordered the rockfish special and one of the dishes was so fishy it couldn't be eaten. When I ordered the blueberry crunch ice cream, because it is one of my favorites, it came out like soup and tasted disgusting. It should have never come out of the kitchen like that. The worst part of the experience is that they charged my credit card for a tip that I did NOT authorize. A cash tip was given. It has been almost 2 weeks and I cannot get them to reverse the charge. Blake, the manager, has promised to take care of things, but of course never has. I would recommend everyone stay away from this business! The only good that came out of this was that my daughter who just graduated with a degree in restaurant management knows what NOT to do!!! read more

Good place to go for a nice lunch. Good food/atmosphere. Not really fast, but not really meant to be.

I visit this area often and usually look for a good seafood place. Used to go to Market Street Inn, but something changed there and the service and food are not the same I tried Sobo's for the first time. It is definitely a bar.. and has a limited menu, but they had GREAT scallops...melted in my mouth. I sat at the bar t he first time (ladies luau night.....VERY noisy, don't recommend that night if you're looking for a quiet dinner). Waiter forgot to bring me bread both times....but other than that, and the luau thing...no complaints. I would eat there again on my next trip. read more

What a top notch experience! The staff is friendly and knowledgable, the menu is diverse, the specials tempt your tastebuds, and the food is prepared with finesse. For starters we had Asian brussels sprouts (YUM!) and the Cauliflower Poppers (can you complain?). For supper I ordered the Rockfish over Risotto, the fish tasted like the ocean! My husband ordered the Short Ribs (Melt. In. Your. Mouth) that were served with decadent goat cheese mash and roasted asparagus. It has been a long few weeks and we needed a bit of TLC so we went to Sobos. It was wonderful. The restaurant was really busy but the activity was managed like a well oiled machine with a staff that is caring and efficient. The manager Cory works along side the staff doing whatever it takes to create an excellent dining experience for all the guests. We sat at the bar and was cared for by beautiful Tamar who made sure our every need was met. We started with cream of crab that is always the best as well as a good starter. The blackened tuna, YEAH!!! melted in your mouth and was served with seaweed salad. The hearts of palm salad was cold,crisp, fresh. and had just enough dressing. Mac ordered the rib eye steak that was cooked to perfection. It was tender, flavorful, and seasoned simply. I got the Thai sea bass. We are Thai food freaks. We cook it at home and are always looking for Thai food restaurants. Not to many on the shore. I am a sea bass lover. Can never get enough. I died and went to heaven with this dish. The chef nailed it. It was spicy but of mouth burning. The red curry and hint of lemon grass that accompanied the flaky, juicy bass was served over delicate and tender noodles. I woke up this morning thinking about this dish. Thank goodness I couldn't eat it all last night (had to save room for dessert) because I was able to eat it for breakfast. My only quandary now is I want some more. For dessert we had apple pie and raspberry chocolate chunk ice cream. We drank, ate and talked for 4 hours. We left Sobo's feeling relaxed, pampered, and rejuvenated thanks to the people at Sobo's who have mastered the art of making you feel special. read more

My wife and I went to SoBo's last Friday evening and had a wonderful dinner. This is our second time to the restaurant, and both times the food was outstanding. We started with this ahi tuna wonton stack...amazing! My wife loves their scallops with the summer succotash, and I had this blue cheese and bacon strip steak. It was done perfectly and I actually had some to take home and have for lunch the next day! Our server was very knowledgeable and funny and made our dinner so much more enjoyable. The manager and chef even stopped by our table and was very pleasant and asked about our dinner. For dessert, we had this blueberry ice cream from a local dairy they use that was out of this world. We will definitely be back. This is a great place for dinner !! read more

A hard to find trendy restaurant that serves local organic food!! Excellent wine list and craft beer selection. They always feature a wine, beer and cocktail of the night. The cocktails are always fun to try. The chef obviously takes pride in his food, every dish is always plated beautifully and most importantly tastes delicious! We ate dinner here and it was absolutely delightful . The cream if crab was very tasty , the bread was served warm with butter and olive oil. The staff was friendly and knowledgable . I got the scallops with a fresh succotash and it was delicious and fresh. My husband got a New York strip that he said was very good. We will be back. read more

I came in tonight to use up some points for a nice Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to see Debbie Levy, Mike and Dylan at the bar. And the menu was new for the Fall. Not merely a few tweaks but a totally revamped menu. I was duly impressed. It took me a while to review each item and make my selections. I started out with the Beer Braised Little Neck Clams which used local Virginia Eastern Shore clams and EVO pale ale, Virginia ham and wonderful bread for dipping. Next I tried the Buttermilk Pan Fried Oysters over a nice vegetable slaw. I could have stopped there but I needed some protein so I ordered the Himalayan Salt Block Roasted Red Snapper, line caught and fresh, over herbed jasmine rice with a medley of vegetable match sticks. I could have tried a dozen other things that were tempting but reserved them for a reason to return. My husband took me there last night for dinner for Valentine's Day. We had never been there before and it was such a treat! The service was great. And the food was wonderful. They had a special prix fixe menu for the night. Our soup and salad were good. I had the salmon and my husband had the beef wellington for our entrees and they were both outstanding. We left feeling very well taken care of and had a romantic dinner for our Valentine's Day. We will be back and we will be sure to pass along the good word. read more

Living in Baltimore, I have access to lots of great restaurants, but I was recently very pleasantly surprised to discover Sobo on a trip back home to Salisbury. The staff was attentive (but not too much), and they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the food and wine menus. Speaking of the wine menu, IMPRESSIVE, even the by-the-glass offerings. Went there last night for valentines day. There was a price fixe menu for 80.00 a couple. It included a nice glass of champagne. We were told we would be brought warm bread, which never made it to the table. The cream of crab soup did have a couple generous lumps of crab, but the soup had a distinct burnt taste. The salads were unimpressive and the entrees were surprisingly small portions. When we had not gotten any silverware for our entrees in over five minutes, I went to speak to the manager and was very sympathetic about the busy nature of the holiday. He was unimpressed and had a waiter bring us silverware. The entrees were mediocre. The dessert was pretty but not delicious. At the end of the dinner all of the ladies were brought roses, except for me. Had we received better service or any comment of remorse for our evening, I would have been much more lax in my reviews of the night. Because of this experience, I would not patronize this restaurant again. read more
