They seem to have a fairly good selection of most things (though the fruits and vegetable section seemed surprisingly small) but I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the layout. Prices - well, that's why I go to Superstore. Most everything I checked on would be cheaper to buy there. However, I did find a few products I hadn't seen before so I'll give them a try.

Did go on a Saturday one and it was pretty busy, unfortunately they had only half the checkouts open so people were lined up pretty deep. It's a smaller store, layout is pretty straight forward and service is hit or miss depending upon who is working and when you go.

They increase their prices weekly and take no regard for those who live on fixed incomes. I find it disturbing to see how Gateway Meat Market can accommodate its customers by keeping their prices the same and they are a smaller establishment. Here's Sobeys which has been around for decades and they don't care to accommodate their customers. They also cut back on their employees hours and they are amazing people. This is the only reason I still shop there cause everyone is so nice.

After 10:45 pm each night they close down their cashiers and use the self serve only. I think it shows great compassion for your customers who don't all want to do a self serve option. As well, you continue to have your self serve accept cash, whereas the Stupidstore accepts cards only. EXCEPT after 10:45 pm where you can use their self serve, but have to total off and then go to customer service to pay and they will release the purchase. STUPID Again thank you for thinking of your customers.

This one is more like the older stores, narrow isles, bright fluorescent lights, small selection but well stocked. Not sure on the produce, we went in for a couple cans of coconut milk (our regular store was sold out). With their huge sister store just down the street this store seems a bit... obsolete. But if you're a go in, grab some grub, and get out quick this might be the store for you. You don't have to walk for hours to get what you need, and the check-outs were very fast, no lines.

I have no idea how Atlantic compares in terms of treatment of employees, but as far as cleanliness and selection, I was impressed. Oh, and the fact that they carry a line of Ziggy products has absolutely nothing to do with that. No, not one bit. I have no idea how they compare price-wise to other chains in Canada; I can only compare prices to equivalents in the U.S., and they were pretty good. Then again, it's tough to find slab bologna and whole cooked lobsters at many chains in the U.S.

I started shopping No Frills because a lot of the same products as AS, but better pricing. Now I shop almost exclusively at Walmart and NoFrills. I will add there seems to be price-creep at NoFrills and if they don't watch it, I'll give all of my business to Walmart and a few independent small stores. I'm never going back to AS or Sobeys - their greed is unconscionable! I feel for folks who don't have any other options.
