What ever happened to law and order and basic civics in Canada? Also, the people in produce have filthy nails with old caked on dirt or something under their nails constantly. Whatever happened to cleanliness? The managers do nothing about this? But then, it's r acist to notice these things now. Tell them to wash their hands more than once a week. Disgusting.

They seem to have a fairly good selection of most things (though the fruits and vegetable section seemed surprisingly small) but I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the layout. Prices - well, that's why I go to Superstore. Most everything I checked on would be cheaper to buy there. However, I did find a few products I hadn't seen before so I'll give them a try.

Did go on a Saturday one and it was pretty busy, unfortunately they had only half the checkouts open so people were lined up pretty deep. It's a smaller store, layout is pretty straight forward and service is hit or miss depending upon who is working and when you go.

I am, however, re-evaluating my choice to pick this branch as my default place to buy food, and have found myself more and more using the larger, newer and better stocked Sobeys at the Larry Uteck exit off the 102. But back to this location, access can be a bit of a nightmare during rush hour since both HP rd and the Beford Hwy can get super backed up, and the surrounding intersections become hazardous to say the least when traffic peaks. The inside of the store seems new and bright, though the layout is a bit more confusing than other Sobeys. This could possibly be due to recent renovations, having to overlay a new layout over old infrastructure. Other than that, the staff are super friendly and seem to enjoy working there, which is always a good sign.

The seafood and butcher's area is always clean and well presented, and the meat is delicious. They also have an excellent "Hippy Section", as I've always called it, full of healthy foods and ethical household supplies. I can't think of anything majorly wrong with this location. Sometimes they dont have everything I need (Artichokes, why are you never here?) but they come pretty darn close. It can be a bit tricky to finds things sometimes, but if you've ever played a point-and-click game, you can usually deduce where everything is. No basil in the the herb section? Check with the tomatoes up front. Can't find the pancake batter? Check with the syrup, not with baking. It's either a fun brain teaser, or a deeply frustrating exercise, depending on your mood. Plus the cashiers are always hilarious, which is always a bonus!

Honestly, other than that, it was just a regular supermarket under the Loblaws banner. However, I liked that they gathered the local products together, so tourists like me and locals who want to support local can easily find products made in Halifax/Nova Scotia. They increase their prices weekly and take no regard for those who live on fixed incomes. I find it disturbing to see how Gateway Meat Market can accommodate its customers by keeping their prices the same and they are a smaller establishment. Here's Sobeys which has been around for decades and they don't care to accommodate their customers. They also cut back on their employees hours and they are amazing people. This is the only reason I still shop there cause everyone is so nice.

I've shopped there on several occasions and have never had any problem finding anything, except for cosmetics... I was quite disappointed to learn that the store doesn't carry cosmetics. Perhaps this is because there's a large new Shoppers Drug Mart close by, but if the grocery is trying to move towards one stop shopping, they should really consider adding a cosmetics section.

These things are annoying but what happened today was quite upsetting. The product I was purchasing was on sale, but the deal was you had to buy 2 to get the sale price. As it happened there was only 1 left. I would gladly have bought the 2 items to get the sale price but they didn't have 2. Is that really my fault? Should I have to pay the price for their inability to keep the shelves stocked. It may seem like a small thing to some but in these times of rampant inflation every penny of savings counts.

I started shopping No Frills because a lot of the same products as AS, but better pricing. Now I shop almost exclusively at Walmart and NoFrills. I will add there seems to be price-creep at NoFrills and if they don't watch it, I'll give all of my business to Walmart and a few independent small stores. I'm never going back to AS or Sobeys - their greed is unconscionable! I feel for folks who don't have any other options.
