I'm a bit mixed on this business. They definitely have numerous high end and very beautiful works of art with corresponding high price points. My issue was with the salesman that continued to follow me throughout the store, giving me prices on any item I took a shine to, where the prices continued to drop as I walked through the store. This type of behavior gave me no faith in getting a fair price plus I do not like being hounded by a salesman when shopping. These behavioral issues aside , It is definitely worth coming in here to look at the merchandise due to the beautiful and unique nature of the artwork. Having said that, I would not buy anything here before cross referencing it online to get some comparative pricing before you put thousands of dollars down on some artwork. read more

Soaring Eagle Native Arts - Jewelry Near Me - Ketchikan, Alaska

We accidentally stumbled upon this shop while exploring the area, and wow what a unique find! The store is filled with all kinds of interesting treasures, handmade items, crystals, and other shiny things that are fun to browse, even if you're just window shopping. The prices were on the higher side, but that's understandable since many of the items are handmade or custom made. One thing we thought was really cool was that they offer free arrowheads, which was a fun and unexpected touch. We didn't end up purchasing anything ourselves, but we still enjoyed stopping in and looking around. If you love crystals, handcrafted pieces, or just discovering unusual local shops, this is definitely worth a visit. read more

Do not shop here. Like other customers we purchased a sculpture that was supposed to include a light base and free shipping. We received the sculpture but no light base. Like others, we were told the light base was on back order. It's been a month and no light base. I have tried calling and emailing but no response. read more

After pricing several pieces, we purchased a sculpture and was told we would receive shipping/tracking information. After 3 Weeks we have not heard from them. Calls went directly to voice mail, left messages but never got a call back. I consider this very poor customer service. Was surprised as the instore experience was very good; salesperson was courteous. Obviously wanted to make the sale but was not too aggressive. Demonstrated the sculptures and the lighted base that was to come with it. read more

WARNING - This place is a scam and you should not purchase anything from here. Do NOT give them business that they don't deserve. Went on an Alaskan cruise in July and ended up buying an art piece from this shop. The piece was also supposed to come with a lighted base but they said it was backordered so they would need to ship it and it would come at the end of September or October. It is now almost mid-December and we have still not received it. We tried calling the business number many times but no one ever answers. We have also tried messaging them via Instagram but haven't gotten a response either. Tried sending them emails but guess what, their email is not valid. This is the same email they list on all their social medias. Now I see all the reviews warning about them and wish I could've seen them before we made our purchase. I can't even say that their customer service is terrible because it's completely nonexistent. I just hope that this review will help prevent future people from getting scammed. read more

I was in Ketchikan last week and bought two Native American jewelry pieces. They are lovely, great price and so glad I purchased them!

Beautiful store. Sal is a really nice guy. Definitely stop by and get a free arrowhead and look around.

We visited this shop a couple years ago and wished we had bought a particular item at the time. So, on our visit this year, we went back. We had enjoyable conversations with the men working there. Yes, the more they sell the more money they make, so pressure selling is expected in a shop geared for tourists. Like we do in most shops we say no thanks, and leave. But we wanted something to commemorate our Alaska cruise, so we took our time. After finding what we wanted, agreeing on the discounts, after finding out we purchased something from their sister store in Sitka, he even subtracted that amount. We know things are marked up, and they still make money with each sale, but in the end, it is our decision to buy or not. Now, we just have to wait for our items to arrive this fall, hopefully. read more

I stopped by Soaring Eagle today and was greeted with absolute amazing conversation. Conversations about the art, the jewelry, and their delivery services all across the nation. I walked away with a beautiful heart shaped sterling silver ring that I will cherish for a lifetime. So grateful I stopped in this store on my way out of port. read more

I was on a port visit and I purchased a piece of art and was told that it would be shipped in 2 to 3 weeks. I purchased on 20 may and as of 23 Jun it hasn't been shipped. I sent 2 emails requesting a status and they were ignored. I files a complaint with the Alaska consumer protection group and also have submitted a fraud claim to my visa credit card company. Hopefully VISA will remove his accreditation. read more

After walking from the ship to town wandering around, I needed a place to sit, then I noticed beautiful carved seats in front of Soaring Eagle. After a few mins I decided to walk in and goodness they have such interesting things here, the art and hand work of most of the items in the store are absolutely amazing. I treated it more of like a museum rather than a store. LOL Goodness, an arm and a leg for some of these items. Missing a star, after reading many reviews, their business practice seems pretty shadyyy! read more

my husband purchased a piece that we were told would be delivered in October... I purchased two items of jewelry and they said they would "throw in" matching earrings but they had to make them so when he came out in October he would bring the earrings too. The piece my husband ordered got drop shipped from the manufacturer (no earrings in the package) . No response from anyone on the earrings... very disappointing. i love the ring and necklace and he liked his piece but kinda crappy to promise something and not follow through or even reply. They have a second store in Fredericksburg, TX ... I won't be revisiting either ... this left me very disappointed in the broken promises. not cool... read more

We bought a beautiful copper piece for above the fireplace while in Alaska. Sal and co. delivered and hung the art for us today. We love it and are very happy. We also ended up buying a beautiful agate lighted piece. Very happy with the whole process! read more

Truth be told, I used my shopping trip and said this establishment more as a museum than a sales studio. I could probably spend two hours looking at all of the merchandise! A number of different artisans provide the goods for this store they are carved items ranging from huge to tiny, as well as fabric, stone, and also more commercial items. read more

Unbelievable! But in a good way! My wife and I were on a cruise in Alaska in July and popped into this store toward the end of the day. My wife really liked this bowl and we negotiated the price. The guy told me the price included delivery. Not "shipping" but actual delivery. They told us they would be at our house to hand deliver at the end of September. When we walked out of the store I looked at my wife and said "50/50 we ever see these dudes again. Well, I got a text about a week ago that they were on their way to Southern California and tonight they showed up with our bowl. Who does that?!?! Amazing and what a nice guy he was. I see some on here have not had the experience that we had and I'm honestly surprised. Our experience was just incredible. Faith in humanity is restored for now. read more

RIP OFF. June 5th 2024 bought a piece of art work for several thousands of dollars to be hand delivered in October to our home. Sal called when in the area but never delivered it when we think he realized we were not going to buy more from his car. Several other people have had the same experience. To date no art work, legal action underway. BEWARE! read more

I purchased a $3500 eagle from them in July. They said it would be delivered in October. They responded to my call in November saying it would be shipped soon. It is now January and they will not return my call. Do not trust them with delivering or shipping anything you buy from them. read more

As a typical tourist, we browsed through the store and enjoyed many great art pieces. Had a great time negotiating an art piece with Sam. We bought and had it shipped back to the states without any hassles. No pressure sales here. Had fun being a tourist shopper. The Art piece got to my place intact on time and without damage. Very well-packed. Fair price for shipping and handling. Overall, an enjoyable experience. When it comes to artwork, Beauty and prices are in the eye of the beholder. The items in the store aren't mass-production items, so don't expect it to be cheap. I would say reasonable price. Loved the negotiation tactics... Anyway, Go and visit!! The store do have some unique and quality made products. ENjoy!! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!! We purchased an expensive wood carving that they agreed to ship to our home address. Not only did they not ship it, they won't even respond to our phone calls.SCAM!! Save your money. Look at the dates on the favorable reviews. Most of them are years old. read more

BEWARE!! We purchased a custom table and chairs from Soaring Eagle in Oct of 2022. We were told it would be delivered for free, but we had to wait 1 year for delivery. In September of 2023, only the table was delivered. We were told they had 5 trucks delivering all over the country and when they found them they would either be shipped or delivered. When we spoke to Sal he was very update at the price we paid. He said it was worth much more, and how we should know what a "deal" we got. We continued weekly contact and finally he said he found 2 of the 4 chairs. He stopped contact in November 2023. I have since contacted my credit card company and filed a complaint when they credited me some of the cost. I have just filed with the BBB in Ketchikan Alaska as my text on 1/2/24 has also been ignored. read more

Omg, we had the BEST experience last week with Sam and his coworkers here. Easily the most fun and informative shop we visited. They have a beautiful, vast, and amazing selection of jewelry, turquoise and spiny oyster and opal and mother of pearl and larimar and lapis and topaz and amber and gold quartz and more. They all know their stuff, like REALLY know it, Sam was able to name the jewelry maker for every piece as well as creation techniques, symbolism, history, and so much more. Best of all, neither Sam nor any other salespeople at the shop were pushy or aggressive. We are on a cruise, (and for those of you who have ever been on one, youll know that the shops the cruise tries to shove you towards are affiliated with the ship, overpriced, and super aggressive regarding sales) and visiting Soaring Eagle was SUCH a breath of fresh air. My husband is a jeweler and an artist himself, and this is one of maybe three places on the entire cruise that actually felt authentic, welcoming, and worth it (both in his professional opinion and my personal one). The prices are also very reasonable. Almost forgot to mention, they have baleen baskets too! Lastly, the shop also has a massive sculpture room (that included a huge sculpture of an owl that looked crazy excited and a little stoned, it was super cute, had to get pics, it was adorbs). Next time we' re in Alaska, we are definitely coming back here. read more

Not your typical art/jewelry store. Staff was not pushy and very helpful and friendly. There is so much to look at, you could spend hours in here. Sam is more than willing to tell you everything about any item he has in the store. My wife purchased two bracelets and received a ton of information on how to care for them along with the meaning behind one of them. I would not normally write a review about this type of store, but this place is truly unique not just for its merchandise but also for its staff. When in Ketchikan and walking around, it's really a great place to stop and look around and talk with the staff. read more

This store sells mainly art and jewelry. We were attracted by the gigantic sculpture of an eagle. There'd be a pic of it except they didn't allow pictures to be taken. If you like Indian or frontier type art and jewelry, you would like this store. They had a sign posted that they were getting rid of everything for the summer and would give a free item with any purchase but what that free item is? Didn't find out as nothing there suited our tastes. read more

I purchased a table in August which was supposed to be delivered to me in Florida in November. I've been calling them for a month to find out if they're going to deliver the table as promised but no response. After I disputed the charge with American Express because I never received my merchandise, they told American Express I took the table with me. I was on a cruise, so that would have been impossible. Be careful before buying anything from this store. read more

This store had beautiful unique artistic pieces. Our sales person, Sam, was very helpful and not overly pushy. We purchased a sculpture, and they will be delivering it to us in Texas. read more

They have lovely more local jewelry rather than pieces that are just mass-produced, they did have those pieces as well. Now some were pricey, but when they were handmade I completely understand. I found a lovely green stone that was an earing set and they were reasonably priced, however, I cant wear earings for that long until they bother me. They offered to make them into two pendants for me. I thought that sounded great and I could give the other one to my mom. Sal (I believe his name was) found me a very nice silver chain to go with the pendant and I purchased that as well. If you are looking for a discount bargain place, this isn't it, but let's face it, nothing in the towns where the cruise ships dock is super cheap. They were only slightly salesy, but very friendly and helpful. There was no pressure to buy pieces. You'll be able to find something unique to take home with you here at a price that fits your budget. read more

This is a beautiful store in Alaska that caters to travelers. Once you leave the store and they mail you your very expensive purchase, everything goes down hill. My 800$ piece arrived damaged. I was told to try steaming it which I was not willing to do.since it was one of a kind, they sent me pictures and I chose something else. I sent back the damaged piece express mail and assumed they were sending me the new one. They also agreed to refund byCheck the 45$ postage. After nothing arrived, I called a few times and a snotty woman told me that nothing was wrong with my piece, although another person saw the pictures I sent with broken feather . She was rude and said it would be 10 more days...... she refused to let me speak to owner. Finally after a month from the start , the new piece arrived with no check for my 45$ postage . I called twice, no response so I filed a claim with Capitalone. An extremely frustrating experience . I think once you leave they feel you are 3000 miles away and will just give up. read more

This store and its owners were lovely to my friend and i. I bought beautiful "sleeping beauty" turquoise necklace, earrings and bracelet, along with an amethyst/opal pendant for my daughter. The experience was wonderful, not high pressure, so enjoyable. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars....reading the reviews below, I was also promised something"extra" and realized when we left the dock, I never received it. It wasn't too important as I LOVE my jewelry and we had a wonderful day with these folks. Would be back again when in Ketchikan! read more

If you purchase anything from this store, don't have it shipped. We purchased two jade pieces for $2700 on Sept 2019. Since we were on a cruise we had it shipped. Both wooden boxes were cracked when received. We took videos while we were unwrapping the pieces incase one was damaged. The feather on the eagle was broken (the broken piece was not in the box which makes us believe it was damaged before shipping). I emailed the store; no response. I called and spoke with Sal who remembered us. He offered to deliver a new eagle to us when he was going to be out here 2-3 weeks later. I provided the details of where we can make the exchange. They never called that weekend. Next call is to the credit card company to see if charges can be reversed. Its really a shame, it is a nice store and we were happy at that time with the customer service. Really disappointed. read more

***WARNING*** do not shop at this store!!!! I bought a stuffed bear head at Soaring Eagle while on a cruise to Alaska. I bought a decorative vase and had it shipped to my home. The vase actually arrived before we returned from our cruise. Unfortunately, there was a small chip off of the vase. I called and explained the problem and was told, initially, to just keep it. I explained I paid a large sum for the piece and it should be complete. Sal agreed and said I could have my money back and keep the vase. I explained that I saw another vase at the Skagway location and would rather have that in place of the original. I volunteered to return the original piece. Sal said to keep the original and would see if the other piece was still in the store. It wasn't, so Sal asked if I'd like for the artist to do a replica. I agreed. They send the new piece and told us to keep the damaged one. I was extremely satisfied with the manner in which Sal, representing Soaring Eagle handled the transaction and follow up. It was an example of a retail outlet practicing the concept that the customer is right and that the vendor should do whatever possible to make the customer happy. Lonna Paulo read more

Here's the thing about Soaring Eagle. They have beautiful pieces of art, and friendly, apparently knowledgeable staff (I say "apparently" because I don't know anything about the art, so I can't be sure). BUT if you are going to buy from them, be sure to take it with you. My wife and I bought a piece, and we didn't want to take the art piece back on the cruise ship with us. Our salesman assured me that they would ship it to our home. and that we would have it within a week of returning from our Alaskan cruise. Well, one week turned into two weeks which turned into two months. I had to call them repeatedly, and got several excuses ("bad weather" delayed the mail service, plus they claimed they hadn't ordered shipping materials and therefore had to wait a month or so for boxes and shipping materials to arrive before they could ship out). We finally got our art work about 9 weeks later. Nicholas Aysheh, the salesman who helped us -- and who happens to be the president of the company -- told me that due to the delay, they were going to send us a 2nd piece for free, a piece that would supposedly compliment the art work we purchased. Well, it's been 3 months, and nothing else ever arrived. So, again, they have beautiful stuff, but buyer BEWARE! read more

I had a wonderful shopping experience at Soaring Eagle Native Arts. I was in town for the day on a cruise vacation and was happy to find some of the locally owned shops selling jewelry and art. I had a lovely discussion with two of their employees about several of the artists they carry work from. Their deep knowledge on the craftsmanship/meaning behind each piece was only matched by their passion for promoting these native artists. The quality of the piece I ended up purchasing was undeniable and I left very excited. I sent several other friends from my cruise to their shop; I couldn't wait to pass on the tip since so many of the other stores near the dock are the same 10 generic fine jewelry shops you will find getting off any cruise ship in any location. I highly recommend these guys! I can't speak to the other reviews where people had trouble getting things shipped, but maybe it's worth talking to them in person about any concerns. They were very kind and sincere guys. read more
