My issue was with the salesman that continued to follow me throughout the store, giving me prices on any item I took a shine to, where the prices continued to drop as I walked through the store. This type of behavior gave me no faith in getting a fair price plus I do not like being hounded by a salesman when shopping. These behavioral issues aside , It is definitely worth coming in here to look at the merchandise due to the beautiful and unique nature of the artwork. Having said that, I would not buy anything here before cross referencing it online to get some comparative pricing before you put thousands of dollars down on some artwork.

The prices were on the higher side, but that's understandable since many of the items are handmade or custom made. One thing we thought was really cool was that they offer free arrowheads, which was a fun and unexpected touch. We didn't end up purchasing anything ourselves, but we still enjoyed stopping in and looking around. If you love crystals, handcrafted pieces, or just discovering unusual local shops, this is definitely worth a visit.

We didn't buy anything but we're not required to. At the back of the store there serving food, we were surprised we didn't know there was food we asked and they told us it was free. We got some food ate it and my friend continued to look around while I went out to eat my food so I wasn't just standing in the way. Two more of my friend come out and join me while we wait for my other friends to finish looking. The OWNER (I'll include a picture of her lol tell me if that's the owner) came and told us (we're all black by the way) they weren't just giving free food and this was about art. I replied that we did look at the art pieces. I was really shocked because we spend a least 10-15 minutes looking at the art. We made sure the food was free before we took any and I went out side to eat to be respectful just in case I dropped anything on some art pieces. We were the only ones she said this to. It our first time in Ketchikan so to experience this in our first weeks here was so upsetting.

I also checked in while at the store on my Yelp App and it said I was entitled to a small gift of black pearl earrings. I felt bad declining them because she said that it had been a long time since she last saw that banner and then went to see if they even still carried that token. Julie's Fine Jewelry had been recommended by a friend that regularly visit's Alaska. The sales person was Lynn B and she was very helpful with finding some jewelry. I also had a chance to speak with Julie and learn more about the area. Julie suggested I walk up Mill St to Ketchikan Creek to watch the salmon spawning. This side trip turned out to be another highlight of our Alaska trip Overall a very nice selection of jewelry and excellent customer service with a side of local flavor. Definitely a five star experience. Instead f another picture of the store I'm including a picture of the side trip Julie recommended

Some of the goods are local, but not many, and you'll pay a nice markup due to the shop's easily accessed location. The shop is large, clean, spacious, and well organized. This could easily be your one-stop-shop if you're looking for Alaska souvenirs. They have keychains, shot glasses, t-shirts, stuffed animals, tote bags, rain gear, snacks and sweets and more. Sockeye Sam's also has the largest selection of raincoats, umbrellas, and sweatshirts, all staples that a lot of cruisers often forget to pack. I appreciate that the store sells various sundries (Advil, bandaids, etc.) and small toiletries, too. If you're arriving in Ketchikan via cruise ship, you will walk right by this store. They pretty much have everything you need to take goodies to the folks back home. Pro tip: visit a local grocery store if you want to find really cool Alaska souvenirs. I've purchased locally made hot sauces, candies, and other goodies for a fraction of the price that they're sold for in tourist stores like these.
