My fiancé and I just returned from an Alaska Cruise from Vancouver, Canada to Seward, Alaska. Our first excursion was in Ketchikan. Walking through town we strolled into "Alaska Fine Art". We love stone carvings and we were hoping to find something special on our vacation in Alaska. We were very impressed and excited to see the beautiful stone art and sculptures by Eddie Lee. When we heard about this man's life and passion, we knew the pieces in this studio, were not your normal tourist merchandise. Our sales person Dana, was very knowledgeable about the pieces, the materials used, and the history behind their creation. We almost purchased one of the bear carvings, but since this was our first port on the cruise, we thanked Dana for her time, and decided to continue the quest in all the other ports along the way.
That turned out to be a bad decision, to leave the shop without making the purchase. For two people who love stone carvings from this wonderful land, we saw nothing that matched the beauty and emotion caught in the pieces by Eddie Lee. As soon as I returned home I contacted Dana and purchased one of the bears that we liked. (Luckily it was still available.) Alaska Fine Art packaged it very well and shipped it to us via USPS. One week later the bear, with an Alaska salmon in its mouth, arrived at our home in perfect condition. An everyday reminder of the wonderful experience we had with the people and the land of Alaska.
Thank you, Eddie Lee, Dana and Alaska Fine Art! read more
