Lindsey provides snacks, drinks, handout, materials, and protective gear. We talked about soap, saponification, ingredients, and do hands on with making out cold press soap. We leave with 3 bars of soap still in it's mold (takes two weeks to cure). What I've taken away from the class... 1) Lindsey showed us the basics, the tip of the iceberg, and we create from there. Let's just say I begun ordering my organic materials when I got home and started looking into formulas and how to tweak them based on what I've learned 3) Lye is used for the chemical reaction for saponification but is not not a direct ingredient within the soap 3) difference between "beauty bar" and real soap (ex: dove is a beauty bar but not a soap) I'll be back soon to take the advance class! We opened a soap business a year ago and we were struggling to find the right recipe but we ended up halving more issues and we didn't know how to solve it until we found Lindsay. My partner and I took a cold process soap class with her, she was so helpful, patient and most importantly very clear with the teaching. And she answered all our questions. My friend and I took Lindsay's cold process soap making + lip balm class this past week and really enjoyed it. Lindsay was a great teacher, not to mention that she offered us snacks and drinks throughout the class :D She started the class by explaining the background and science of the soap making process, and then we got started. She walked us through the process while explaining the importance of each step. She provided us with 6 different recipes to choose from and explained the different characteristics of each one. We each picked a recipe and chose from a variety of fragrances to give our soap the final touch. She also provided us with different options for molds to shape our soap. For the second part of the class we beeswax lip balm. Just like with the soap class, Lindsay was very knowledgeable and helpful. The process was a lot shorter than the soap making, but just as fun! Overall, we would highly recommend Lindsay to anyone interested in making soap or lip balm! It doesn't get much better than her class :) read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND I've taken the Beginning Cold Process soap making, and Advanced Cold Process soap making classes, and the Hot Process soap making class, the Liquid Soap class, and also learned how to make lotion and lip balm. Obviously, I am addicted and I think you will be too! After my first class, I was able to go home right away and make soap, and it turned out great, thanks to Lindsay's instructions. She has handouts covering all the information and instructions she gives you in class, so when you get home, you don't forget anything important. If you ever watched any soap making fail videos on YouTube, you will understand why having the instructions in front of you at home would be helpful. :-) But don't worry, Lindsay will teach you how to avoid soap volcanos and other soap disasters. :-) Linsday teaches you everything - science, safety, some history, more science, how to formulate everything from laundry soap to body wash to sunscreen, and how to make sure your products are safe to use. She teaches you how to adjust the recipes to suit your skin type. You can make things more or less moisturizing, more or less bubbly, etc. The directions to her building and guest parking were clear and easy to follow. Lindsay is a bubbly and upbeat person and an excellent teacher. The class size is small and entirely hands on so you can ask a lot of questions. This class is perfect for people who are allergic to fragrances. You can bring your essential oils or fragrance oil, but she doesn't keep any in her condo/lab. That was ideal for me because I'm allergic to a lot of perfumes and scented lotions and even scented laundry detergent. If you have allergies and want to make soap and other skin care products to avoid commercial products you are allergic to, this class is for you! read more

I loved the experience. Lindsay was an incredible teacher. She was very engaging, friendly and her passion was contagious. It definitely went beyond expectations. The location alone was so breathtaking. Overall the experience was more than amazing. I loved understanding the science and process behind soap making. And learning about the different ingredients and their benefits. It's very fascinating. Can't think of anything negative about the class. I would love to go to a whole day candle, soap, lotion, lip balm, etc making thing though if there ever is one! That would be fun! Everything was new and informative. I was looking for a local place that taught soap making and found Lindsay! I loved that she taught so many different classes and that they were 2-3 people max. Some of these classes pack in so many people that it's hard to learn and ask questions. My friend and I both have work schedules that vary but Lindsay was so flexible in scheduling a time that worked best for us! I love that it wasn't set times that we had to choose from. We took the cold process soap, liquid soap & lip balm class. Lindsay was extremely informative and hands on. She even showed us how to create a soap base to make dish soap, laundry detergent etc- this isn't just a bar & hand soap class! There are a lot of videos and recipes online but it doesn't compare to learning in person. Lindsay showed us examples of common issues that occur during the process and how to remedy them. It made us feel very confident to do this at home- we already purchased everything we need! We will be taking future classes from her soon! read more

The class was more than just great! It really fun and went by fast. Lindsay was very informative and answered any questions I had. Can't wait to start making soap and being able to give back to my community! I would definitely suggest anyone who is interested in the soap class to also look into the lotion class as it was also very fun and interesting to learn how to make your own lotion. After the classes Lindsay leaves the recipe and instructions so you don't have to memorize everything in the class. She also links documents that explain the reasoning for needed ingredients and goes over them in class to fully explain the process for both soap and lotion. Do yourself a favor and book a soap class with Lindsey if you are at all interested in taking up the craft of soap making or lotion, etc. There are many books & tutorials on how to make soap, but I can tell you firsthand that there is no way you would be understanding WHY you are doing what you are doing. I went to the lotion making class and added on the lip balm class. I loved it! Lindsay is a natural teacher and I had a really great time. She's fun and easy to talk to and she made her home a comfortable place to attend her classes. I am in LOVE with the products we made, especially the lip balm. I signed up for the soap making workshop because I knew absolutely nothing about making soap but was ready to learn. One of the most remarkable classes I've ever taken. Lindsay was hands-on and accommodating and her love for soap-making was very apparent. She consistently checked in to find out if I had any questions and made sure we were on the same page throughout the entire process. She had all the curriculum and materials very well-organized and easy to follow. She made safety a priority when handling the lye by providing the proper protective gear. For my wife and her twin sister's birthday, my brother-in-law and I decided to surprise our wives with a soap making class. My wife adores soaps and has been so interested in learning how to make soaps on her own that we knew this would be a great time. We were not disappointed. Lindsay's class was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable and educating experiences we had in 2017. Her knowledge of the soap making process as well as her kind and patient demeanor were so enjoyable. We took the beginner class first to get the basics down and once we became master soap makers (with her guidance) we started the advance soap making class where we got to travel into the world of different fats and scents. The atmosphere in her studio was so peaceful and she even put out great brownies and olives for us to snack on while she educated us on the history of soap making. Our soaps still have about 1 more week to cure before they are ready for use, but they smell so fantastic and we can't wait to try them out. I can't recommend Lindsay and her class enough. I took Lindsay's CP soap making and lip balm class and she was great! What I liked about her is that she thoroughly explains the science behind everything and is very patient. She makes you feel very comfortable in her home so dont be too intimidated by the fact the classes are at someones house , it was very easy to find and had a great view! I was lucky to be the only one in my beginner's soap making class so Lindsey pretty much is my personal tutor during the whole class. I have a bit knowledge about soap making so she skipped some of the basics and answered all questions I had. It was very informative and Lindsey is warm and welcoming that made me very comfortable. The class actually lasted for 3 hours without either of us looking at the clock that I really appreciated. I learned how to make cold process soap, whipped body butter, face&body scrub, all along with a face mask. This class was above what I expected and exceeded all expectations. My niece and I recently attended Lindsay's candle making class. It was a pleasure learning this craft from such a fun, patient, and knowledgeable instructor. Since my niece lives out of town, Lindsay generously offered to limit the class size to two, enabling us to spend quality time together. It was a blast picking out the colors, creating the designs, and selecting the candle holders. Now we understand why beeswax is the preferable medium, how to stay away from toxic products in the stores, and in general, the art of creating the perfect candle. Duuuuude. Lindsay is THE BEST. I'll admit I was pretty nervous heading in there but she is so welcoming, sweet, and was super knowledge, broke down all the basics before we got started (in a very interesting and non-highschool-chemistry type of way) and was super patient and kind when answering all my jumbled and probably dumb and weird questions. As for the actually soap making, WOW! I didn't realize it could be so easy once you got the hang of it! There's many types of ways to make soap but if you want to learn from scratch, Lindsay is the best place to go. She's so welcoming (and provided delicious snacks and treats!) and just generally made you feel at home and not like you're a dumbass novice with little zero knowledge on the subject. The class itself was relatively quick (because Lindsay is there guiding you), and it's must less stress-inducing than one might imagine (and trust me, I'm a very anxious person. She makes you feel at home. I loved that she had print outs of the ENTIRE soap making process including different types of ingredients and some history on how soap was first made and used way back when! Super cool. Not only that but she printed out several of her own tried and trued recipes and referenced many soap/lye/fragrance suppliers that she uses heres in the printouts! She also emailed me these in case I wanted an online copy. I've played around with making homemade body wash with Dr. Bronners soap base, glycerin, and essential oils and she gave me some great advice for those too! Really, she knows her stuff! Our soaps are still setting but they already smell UHHH-mazinggg! I would recommend Lindsay to anyone looking to get into soap making, a fun activity to do with friends/family, really.. anything. Yesterday I took the beginners & and advanced soap making classes. Let me just say this class was perfect! I have watched a million videos on YouTube explaining how to make cold processed soap but I was so scared to actually do it on my own. Well this class definitely put an end to that. These were my first soap and lotion making classes and I would highly recommend them! Lindsay provides high quality, all natural ingredients and many resources for you to take home after class, as well as all of the goodies you made. I took the liquid soap making class, the cold process soap making class, and the lotion making class all together. It took about 4 hours in total. Lindsay is very attentive and helpful, yet low-key and flexible. She helps you design the soap and lotion to your personal wants and needs, and explains the whole processes and reactions. You get to personalize the oils in the soaps and the lotion, and decide if you want to use essential oils for different scents in your products. I learned about different oils that affect many properties of soap, including how bubbly, cleansing, hardness, conditioning, creamy, and some others, and you get to choose a recipe to maximize the properties that you desire in your soap. The lotion is light, but slightly oily when it first goes on, but makes a huge difference in the moisture of your skin once it sinks in after about 5 minutes, and the base recipe she provides can be personalized and also made organic. Lindsay also makes sure you feel comfortable working with lye in the soap making processes and provides all of the needed protection to make sure you are safe. I love all of the products that I made in this class, and I loved working with Lindsay. 10/10 experience! read more

My experience with Lindsay on how to make my own lotion was absolutely fantastic. I had been very eager to know how to make lotion without beeswax and Lindsay's class was the perfect answer.Lindsay was extremely well prepared, from sending me precise directions to park to the class itself.
