So sushi is now one of my favorite sushi in the valley. In my attempt to visit all the sushi on Ventura Boulevard this was my first stop and it was no disappointment. The fish is so fresh here it honestly shocked my core. You cannot go wrong with the quality and flavor of the food they offer here. Started off the meal with a tuna trio that was listed at the bar and it was out of control. also got a seared garlic tuna, which probably was one of my favorite things on the menu. The sauce itself was something I could bathe in. after much deliberation ended up trying to just eat roll and absolutely was to die for. so shocked by the quality and flavor of the food here that I had to get their signature so what roll just to see what was going on. The staff here is so nice. Ended up at the sushi bar and got to experience everything with the owner and the sushi chefs, which ended up a great choice on your first try here. now I did not exactly pick the bar, but the place was full of reservations, so a slot opened at the bar and I took it. it's a very modern sushi restaurant decor is nice and ambience is not your typical sushi place a little more elevated experience. It is obvious that this place has regulars because the staff is very friendly and says welcome back knowing that they were just there on last Thursday. there is a parking lot with lots of parking, but beware of the tight spots. all in all this is one of my new favorite spots, and I will be back here again to try all the good food because as I saw people's orders, I could not help and think I need to try that. read more

This might be my second favorite sushi restaurant in the valley. I've been here before when they were at another location across the street, but now that they've moved to this new spot, I've been coming quite often. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, so there's plenty of parking, though it can feel a bit narrow, so be cautious. Upon arrival, you're greeted by a hostess at the front counter who seats you or directs you to the bar area. I usually sit at the bar and grab a seat by Chef Tom. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but I've seen people waiting outside to be seated, so it does get busy. Every time I've been here, the place is nice and clean, and they have a TV with games on at the bar, creating a pretty chill vibe. I typically order a variety of sushi. When I first came, I ordered my usual rainbow roll, blue crab roll and garlic shrimp roll, but then I started letting Chef Tom surprise me with a variety of nigiri, and he hasn't disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and delicious and on weekends, they have halibut, so if you like that, it's only available then. Location 4 stars: In Tarzana, CA in the SFV, on the Southwest corner of Ventura Blvd and Shirley Avenue, in a large shopping plaza. Plenty of self-parking. Venue 4 stars: Upscale, nicely decorated venue. Comfortable and spacious but a little too brightly lit IMHO. Large sushi bar area that is always tightly packed. Indoor tables and booths as well as outdoor seating. They take reservations, so you will not have to wait long during busy times. Service 3.5 stars: Polite and frequent. Our order was taken quickly, and food came quickly as well. Food 3.5: Good quality fish and creative preparations. Nice assortment of small Japanese plates, sushi and rolls. Plating and presentations are very nice. Their pricing is quite a bit above the norm compared to similar restaurants. Drinks 3.5: Smaller assortment of beer, sake, wine, soft drinks and tea. I've never been here before so it was nice to try it out with some friends. As it was their recommendation which they've been before, why not give it a try. It's part of a strip mall with a good amount of parking. Easy to find as there's two other businesses in the same plaza that I frequently visit. This business, is the front shop just off of Ventura Blvd. Checked in with the hostess as we had a reservation. To the right of the restaurant is the sushi bar and to the left is the dining area. I didn't think they had a dining area the side of the bar as well until we got escorted to the our table. Honestly thought they were seating us at the bar which would be a little awkward to talk to 4 people. But to my surprise, they had a couple seats as well. Both side had a long bench that's built in with pillows cushion. It was cute. Opposite side dining room was a decent size but it was quite nice where we were. I had a vibe that a lot of the patrons were regulars as they seemed to know all the staffs by name. Our waitress and waiter were sweet and quite friendly. We got there early which gave us some time to browse the menu. It was quite nice as there were pretty much a good selections of roll and of course sushi. The only thing I noticed that wasn't in the menu were some kind of noodle dish like udons and such. I guess it varies what is carried. Both the drink menu and food menu were quite nice. We ended up just getting a couple of things to snack on. Nothing major as we were just catching up. A few staters with the edamame, tempura, cucumber salad. Sushi, nothing too crazy with the tomago, and some spicy scallops hand rolls. They were quite nice. It's one thing you can just keep eating but I had to limit myself. Also one of the solantro rolls, salmon skin salad and chirashi bowl. The name to their rolls are quite fun with everything starting with So. The meal was quite tasty. A bug happened to fly into my wine which I mentioned and they were graciously enough to replace it for me. That's excellent customer service. The food was great. Service was excellent. The fish was tasty the rice was just a touch overcooked for my liking. The prices are what you'd expect at a sushi restaurant I ordered a chirashi bowl it was $48 a little on the pricier side but it did have a lot of fish in it, so I can't complain. It's not a 5 star experience because it just took so long to come out. The kitchen seemed unorganized despite having a lot of staff behind thr counter. My husband ordered 3 rolls to start they brought him one then a good amount of time passed before they brought me my bowl, then my husband sat there with no food and me waiting for his food to come finally we asked what was going on, we could see them gathered looking at the tickets and that they weren't working in our order at all, it took about another 10 minutes after that for the other 2 rolls to come out, but knowing it was going to be a while, They could have atleast brought out some edamame or something while we waited. Finally decided to try this spot out with my friend! We always drove by, saw it move across the shopping center, and thought it was about time haha. When I first walked in, the lady at the front greeted me and was super nice. I had to wait until my friend got there before being seated. She came and we sat at the bar. I've been coming to this sushi spot of a while now, even before they moved to their bigger location across the parking lot . One thing I will say is they are consistent with the quality they provide. Customer service is also amazing. If you come often, they will get to know you by name. My favorite is the garlic shrimp and if you love garlic, it's a must! We ordered the Crispy SO WHAT tacos, Garlic Shrimp Roll, SO just eat roll, and Negitoro roll. The Crispy SO WHAT tacos are a small starter, but deliciously with the mix. I really like the sauce for the Garlic Shrimp Roll, I was soaking up the roll pieces in it and it had nice chunks in it. I couldn't wait to be in LA to go back. The tuna had strings in it. The spicy tuna was incredibly mashed up such that it was gummy. The yellowtail belly tasted and had the texture of regular yellowtail. The tempura was greasy. What happened here? The prices went up a lot, but the quality is way down.
