The food was amazing so good if this was a school I would give it an A+++++ The timing of how all the dishes came out was excellent perfect timing. I will definitely be returning later on this week lol

Always perfect! This is the place to visit if you're anywhere in the SFV and craving sushi done right. Every visit feels like a reminder of what real balance tastes like -- their signature warm rice complements the freshness of the fish in such a unique, almost comforting way. It's not just about great ingredients; it's the way everything is crafted -- thoughtful, consistent, and quietly elegant. Whether it's a casual lunch or a late dinner, this spot always feels like the right choice.

We had a wonderful date night at Sushi Spot. It was our first time back in a long time. Still the same freshness in their seafood and presentation. Friendly people and atmosphere with excellent service. We enjoyed a variety of items. Honestly, everything is delicious here. Explore the menu!

From the outside looking in it looks like a real hole in the wall, and if you're a sushi pro you know those are the BEST! It's confirmed. They have a 4 way toro that's is a MUST. The blue crab hand roll (lite rice), soft crab shell and green tea ICED. Make sure you make a reservation cause they fill up even right when they open

I haven't been here in 10-15 years and the sushi is still awesome! Definitely recommend hitting up the sushi spot if you are looking for a great meal in Tarzana. We walked in at 7pm without a reservation on Saturday and they offered us a table for 45 mins before their next reservation. So glad we got to crush that sushi craving. We got a few orders of the rice cakes, salmon sushi, scallop sushi, hand rolls and a cut roll. ~$80 after tax and tip. They also offer an omakase experience at the sushi bar for $60

After a week long camping trip in the great outdoors, I was beyond excited to have sushi as my 1st meal back!! We were on the way to LA, but decided to try Sushi Spot in Ventura because of its raving reviews. I must say... This restaurant definitely lives up to its hype! Sushi Spot is a cute little mom & pop's shop that's been in business for decades. They serve fresh ingredients and great quality fish. Each dish is prepared almost to perfection! The service is outstanding and the place is well kept. It was mid-November and the weather was a bit chilly. They set up outdoor dining to follow Covid-19 safety restrictions and provided heaters for each table. There were also large umbrellas to shield guests from the wind. The staff all wore masks and gloves. I got the Omakase Course. 14 different types of Nigiri Sushi: 4 Way Tuna - Toro - Chu-Toro - Tuna - Negi-Toro YellowTail Belly Kampachi Red Snapper Scallop Bonito Albacore Uni Ikura Sardine Ocean Trout In addition, we had 1/2 dozen Pacific Oysters for an appetizer, an order of Amaebi (2 pieces) and a Spicy Tuna on Fried Rice Cake. Everything was beyond delicious. It was absolutely "melt in your mouth" sushi. It felt like a dining experience, in Japan. If I lived in the surrounding areas, this would definitely be my go-to spot for fresh sushi! See what I did there.... Hence the perfect business name, SUSHI SPOT! Big ups to Chef Taku and Sous-chef Mika for the great food preparation, excellent presentation and the delicious meal. We had outstanding servers: Albert and Evelyn, who were very attentive and professional throughout our visit. I would highly recommend eating at Sushi Spot! Try them once and you'll be hooked!

Decided to do an updated review just to cosign everything I said in my initial statement and add some pictures. This place is still my all time favorite. This last weekend, Yellowtail Belly was one of the specials and lord have mercy-- it was SO goodddd. I swear the Salmon nigiri we got tasted like Salmon Belly. 10's across the board. I will say, I tried the "fried soft shell crab" with ponzu for first time. You can SKIP this dish. Nothing to rave about-- maybe if the ponzu was on the side instead of on the actual crab-- it'd be better, but it was super salty since it was on top of it. I'd say spend that $13 on more sushi or another side lol.

Sushi Spot is located in a strip mall near Taft High School on Ventura Blvd. You can order by phone for pick up. It's worth it. Ordered the following and it made me realize just how much I miss sushi. Anacado Roll Special Roll Tuna Roll Spider Roll One of them is "keto" if you're on a special diet. Two of these rolls have sauces that go with them. The lady thoughtfully labelled the sauces and wrote on the tray which sauce should go on which roll. The rolls were great without them - I couldn't wait til we got home to get started so I started without sauce. But once you put the sauce on, it's just extra!

3.5 stars. I called last minute for a table and the receptionist made available a table for us. That was very accommodating and nice. Very nice service and getting. We ordered omakase. The fish was pretty fresh. There were as many cooked food was raw ones. The order of dishes didn't make sense though. One would want more subtle dishes ahead of more strong flavored ones but that's not the case. It was back and forth between raw and cooked food. I didn't appreciate that. I was also questioning the regular tuna that really does nothing.

I have been here a couple times, and they always have good quality and lots of choices.... And always always fresh..... located in the shopping center. This place has been around for 34 years so very consistent and professional service and very attentive and the quality ingredients with the fresh fish is always on point.... I sat at the sushi bar and I left it to the chef with a Omakase and everything was delicious because Sushi is all about quality..... price was very reasonable and it was well worth it so keep up the good work and I will be back and Arigato

toro, bluefin tuna, albacore belly, and negitoro

Best sushi in the San Fernando Valley? Many argue that Sushi Spot is. At its price point, I'd say it's definitely hard to beat. Sushi Spot managed to exceed my optimistically high expectations, based off a friend of mine who has been raving about this place for years. I'm unfortunately not in this area often anymore, except Sundays in which they are closed, so opportunities have been limited for me to stop in. I'm glad I finally got to try it. Came here Friday, August 3rd, around 8:30pm after work. My friend had reserved some seats at the bar, and we were all pretty ready to splurge. We decided to go with the omakase, and keep going until we couldn't anymore. Price is based on how many/which pieces you eat, which could actually turn into a pretty endless (and expensive) experience. We tried to watch our budget towards the end, but it did get a little out of control (in a good way). Omakase started out strong, with a plate of nigiri containing toro, bluefin tuna, albacore belly, and negitoro. My favorite of the set was the toro, though all were great. Next up was a plate of nigiri containing red snapper, black snapper, and halibut. Red snapper was my favorite of the three. Then came kampachi, shima aji, and yellowtail belly. Yellowtail belly won the third round for me. After that came halibut fin, scallop, snow crab, and wagyu beef. At the end, we ordered a few more additional pieces of sardine, blue shrimp, ocean trout, and bonito. This was definitely a splurge, but I wanted to get a good taste of everything they had to offer. The whole dining experience was very enjoyable, and I really liked the warm rice they use here. Particularly, towards the end when pieces were coming one at a time and had less time to cool off and lose its texture. All of the nigiri was well-made and well-balanced. The selection is not anything crazy, but they have all of the essentials plus some extra. Blue Shrimp was a first for me. If you like sushi, this place is definitely worth visiting. I would recommend it, no doubt!

Chefs special omakase ! The best ever !

The fish is so fresh here it honestly shocked my core. You cannot go wrong with the quality and flavor of the food they offer here. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, so there's plenty of parking, though it can feel a bit narrow, so be cautious. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but I've seen people waiting outside to be seated, so it does get busy. Every time I've been here, the place is nice and clean, and they have a TV with games on at the bar, creating a pretty chill vibe. I typically order a variety of sushi. When I first came, I ordered my usual rainbow roll, blue crab roll and garlic shrimp roll, but then I started letting Chef Tom surprise me with a variety of nigiri, and he hasn't disappointed. How could a sushi join in a largely jewish strip mall be any good...well, because they're some of the nicely, most talented Chefs, that how! The presentation of the rolls, the nigiri and the sashimi is gorgeous and if you sit at the bar the speed the sushi comes out makes you feel like you're the only person in the restaurant (who wouldn't like that?). We had to wait about 15min to get in, there's typically a wait but it's a wait well worth it and honestly it's more exciting this way.
