    Sesame Chicken
    Mai V.

Ordered take out for dinner and food was ready within 20 minutes when I arrived for pickup. I got the Szechuan Crispy Beef, Sesame chicken, Spicy Jade Wontons and Cream Cheese Wontons. The Szechuan Crispy Beef was crispy with a little kick and sesame chicken was nice and sweet. I asked for no spice since it was for the kids and they love sesame chicken. The Spicy Jade Wonton, was not spicy at all with its name. Would love to know the story of how the name came to be. It was wontons drenched in a sweet vinegary sauce. Although it wasn't spicy, I still like them very much and it's better with a spoon of rice if you get some of the base with it. Would love to go back for more of this and the Pork Chung King next time. Although I didn't dine in, it appears to have plenty of seating inside and parking is small. So it might be crowded during busy hours.

First time going here, apparently they have been open for 7 years. 4 years open to public, 3 years during Covid time which they offered to go order pick up, for a total of 7 years. Let me start you off with the fact that i took my brother here for an early lunch, they opened at 11am. It was very deserted, but again they had just opened. The gal was very friendly and seated us. Even taking into account my brother's request for a Diet Coke before having been sat down. She came back to set the table with the placement, napkins and forks. Then went to get the waters and yes a Diet Coke. She then took our order, I got the sesame chicken lunch combo which I asked for spicy version, served with fried rice and an eggroll. My brothers order was the green pepper and onion beef combo with fried rice and eggroll. Both combos came with a choice of egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour soup. We both chose the hot and sour soup. I also ordered the cream cheese wontons and spicy jade wontons. Again this was my first time coming here. The server brought our soups which were both piping hot and super flavorful, mine had a few pieces of pork along with tofu. Then she brought out the cream cheese wontons, not sure if these were made in house for sure, but they tasted fresh. Next the spicy jade wontons, which I did confirm with the server who happened to be the daughter of the owner, were made fresh and by hand on-site. These spicy jade wontons were drenched in this amazing vinegary sweet spicy sauce with some cilantro. Lastly we were served our combo plates which by the time I got my entree I was getting a little stuffed. I managed to eat most of my entree, the spicy-ness hit so well, the eggroll was pork and was delicious and the fried rice was about average for me. Overall I would give this place 9 out of 10. I'll include the final bill just to share. By the time we had left there had been 3 to go orders and had seated another set of people for in house dining. I would go again!! Try everything, be daring! Enjoy life, live life to the fullest and show your appreciation for those around you!!

    Crispy Szechuan Beef...Yummy!

So my mom found this place while on her way to the bank a few weeks ago and wanted to bring me here. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite tasty! The restaurant itself is VERY easy to pass by as they have very little signage on the street side. They have a bigger sign facing Central Avenue (Hwy 65) but not really viewable from the side where you approach. It is a nice smaller size restaurant with a nice decor and appeared very clean. The service was excellent! The server greeted us and she was more than happy to answer questions I had on a couple of the menu items. She made sure we had everything we needed and checked back to fill water or check on our tea etc. She even helped us pack up leftovers when we were ready to go. Very friendly and informative. The food was very good! I had a question on the Spicy Jade Wontons which she answered well. She explained that it has a vinegar-based sauce which some people don't like. I enjoy vinegar especially in Asian cooking with that sweetness added so I decided to try them but just leave off the cilantro (not a big fan but it was just normally sprinkled on top so easy to leave off). They were VERY tasty!! Not really spicy in my opinion but flavorful! My mom ordered some cream cheese wontons and those were also good...pretty standard. For my entree I ordered the Szechuan Crispy Beef. SO GOOD! Crispy, sticky, sweet but spicy! It was tossed with some beautiful quality vegetables like carrots, onions, green peppers and some celery. I ate my leftovers for breakfast (cold) the next day if that tells you anything. My mom had a Lunch Combo with Moo Goo Gai Pan which they offer every day (not just Monday-Friday) and it came with a scoop of fried rice (or white if you prefer) and an egg roll. You also get a complementary soup with the combo and can choose from Wonton, Egg Drop or Sweet and Sour soup. We had the Wonton soup and it was very good. It was a very good experience and I am sure we will be back to try some more dishes!

    Nankin Chow Mein

My friend and I stopped in for lunch. It was delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean. My friend ordered the Nankin Chow Mein, and I ordered the Chicken Almond Ding lunch special. Both were very good, with generous serving sizes. The egg drop soup was delicious, and the egg roll was good, but the fried rice was more like brown rice with soy sauce. It was fine with the chicken almond ding, but had I ordered fried rice and received this, I would have been very disappointed. The server was friendly, and the service was excellent.

    Sesame Chicken, medium spice ??

Sis and I decided to try a new Chinese place in the area and we heard good things about this place. Our usual order is Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, Vegetable Fried Rice and cream cheese wontons. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering from this place again. Positives first. Ordering over the phone was easy. Took a could tries to get through but friendly employee. Pickup was a breeze. Dining area is closed (COVID 19) so you drive around the building to the drive through window. Was helped at the window right away. Now for everything less than positive: Sesame Chicken is marked as medium spice on the menu. It was very mild, no heat at all. Chicken was overcooked, tough and stringy. Did not reheat well. Lo Mein was bland. Not salty or flavorful. The only positive was the style of noodle. It was a thicker spaghetti type vs the thin string (like 5 Spice). Fried Rice was okay. Lots of veggies but there were small squares that were crunchy, like Styrofoam. Never experienced that in any other fried rice. I don't want crunchy rice. Don't know what that was. Wontons were difficult to eat. Too much wrapper, too little cream cheese. Again probably cooked to long. Wrapper was tough to crack with either fingers or teeth. Once at the CC pocket, wrapper was chewy. Thought I'd find a hidden gem, but sad to say it all found the garbage bin.

    Shrim egg foo young

This was our first time at So Good, and we ordered takeout. The chicken wings were delicious! The egg roll was very good too and so were the cream cheese wontons. We didn't like the sub gum fried rice at all - it had no flavor, very bland. However, the chicken lo mein was delicious and so was the shrimp egg foo young, but the sauce on the egg foo young was sweet. I've never had it that way before. The sesame shrimp probably would've been better if it wasn't takeout, but overall they were a little too sweet with a little too much breading for my liking. And of course they weren't crisp from sitting in the container. We also ordered the Cantonese bbq pork chow mein but didn't like the flavor of the pork or the fried noodles. Overall, we'd go back but we'd try some other items and would probably reorder the wings, wontons, egg roll, lo mein and maybe the egg foo young, but not the fried rice, Cantonese bbq pork or sesame shrimp.

Valentines day! 7 pm. 8-10 filled tables. I read all the reviews, mostly 5-stars. We ordered: Spicy Jade Wontons Cantonese BBQ Pork chow mein Crispy duck BBQ pork fried rice Pepper squid Pork chung king Wontons were meaty and tasty. Chow mein (The Cantonese version, with more veggies) was perfect. Crispy duck was delicious crispy and ... substantial. Fried rice: delish. Pepper squid: tempura-like breading, very tempting and pleasing, with scallions and onions. Pork chung king: savory, but maybe a bit sweet. Service was: A+ Cleanliness: A+ Friendliness: A+ Prices: $$$ Wonderful family-run restaurant, new in the area, from St Cloud, father, mother, in kitchen, daughters serving customers. I wish them success and prosperity in our neighborhood.

Newer restaurant in the area. Food was tasty. Only complaint was the beef was pretty chewy. Otherwise, good flavor on the chow fun dish. Portion sizes are good, enough to have leftovers, but not as massive as some chinese restaurants. I like that you can choose your hot tea flavor: oolong, jasmine or green tea. I will definitely be returning to So Good Chinese.

As Asian, we have higher expectation on Chinese / Asian food. When we first found this place, we have some doubt just because of the name of the place. But seriously, they are good even to the Asian standard. The place is so clean, including their kitchen and bathrooms. The servers are so nice. Food is not to salty nor oily. Very good portion. Our waitress Taylor went out of her ways to make sure we enjoy our time there, including our baby girl. Her food recommendation was good and exactly what we were looking for. Everyone else was also super nice and friendly. We ordered Pho & some other items. Pho in a Chinese restaurant, you asked? Yes, we did, and it was GOOD! The broth was good, the noodle was real Vietnamese noodle, with lots of meat. Our waitress recommended an appetizer paper wrapped fried chicken (DON'T EAT THE PAPER!) and it was SOOOO GOOOOOOD!! Fun fact about the restaurant name: So is actually the owner's last name. That's why it's called "So" Good China Restaurant. We don't live in the area, otherwise I definitely can see us going back to this place again!

We ordered: house special wings, Singapore noodles, shrimp egg foo yung, and sweet and sour pork. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were exactly what we were expecting. The sweet and sour sauce is house made and was delicious- we were glad to have ordered extra sauce! And the egg foo yung had a light and tasty brown sauce. The wings were tasty but I wish they had some crisp- they were quite soggy. The cost ended up being a little more than we were expecting, $70 for 3 entrees and an appetizer, but the food was quality and portions were generous. The Singapore noodles were 3 meals worth. I think the authentic menu has to be asked for if you go during lunch. Very large space, can fit larger groups of people nicely. I had the Ma Po Tofu, they were able to make it without pork for the vegetarian. Also had the Singapore Noodles. The waitstaff understood we wanted it made vegan and he understood that which makes it easier to order vegan food. Our table had the pork dumplings, beef short rib, and a beef stew with a lot of gelatinous chunks. The food was hot and very good. If you are in the Northern suburbs and are looking for more authentic Chinese food, here is definitely a spot to check out. They also have the robot servers to bring out your food. That was fun to watch! My favorite part was that we got sweet cut fruit align with our check instead of the cookies. That was a unique touch. Plenty of parking as its stand alone building.

There was also an older women helping at the register who seemed to have NO clue what she was doing. It really almost looked like they were doing a fundraiser for school like they do at Cub. It was weird. Anyway, I had ordered an eggroll (WAY small for $1, IMO) and an order of veggie fried rice. I was taking to go so I asked for some extra soy sauce and a spoon. The lady stands around clueless for a bit then gets my spoon. I ask again for soy sauce and she tells me "its in the bag." The kid tells her "There might not be much in there if she didn't get white rice." Lady opens the bag and tells me "there's 3 packets." Ok. Whatever. I'm in a hurry to get to work so I trust there are 3 packets. I get to work and open the bag to find ONE packet of soy sauce, one eggroll sauce and one fortune cookie. I'm peeved at this point and vow never to go back there. Moral of the story: If a customer asks you for more soy sauce, just give them more damn soy sauce. So I walk in, and they have a standard serving line counter but there's no food, but restaurant supplies and boxes piled high. I was a bit confused and thought they may not be open. I was greeted by a lady, and there were paper menus on the counter. So I ordered the lunch special Shrimp Lo Mein, which comes with an egg roll and fried rice for $7.50. I requested the fried rice to be served in a separate container because I wanted to save the fried rice for later, and I don't like my noodles touching my rice. Well she proceeded to start an argument over the dang take-out box, insisting that it all comes in one box. I reiterated my wishes for a separate container, and she argued some more, so I relented. The total came to $8.03, I didn't have 3 cents, and there was a change box on the counter. So I did what any normal customer would do in that situation: take $0.03 from the change box. Man did I get an Evil Glare from the lady something FIERCE! In my disbelief, I threw down a dollar into the freaking change box. So the food comes, and I informed them that they lost a customer for 13 cents. 10 cents for the takeout box she wouldn't part with, and the 3 cents out of the change box. All this before I even tasted the food!! The cook from the back came up and apologized when he overheard the conversation, and he was very nice. While this was going on she gave me another cursing stare and stormed off. Heck he should have been working the front and leave the grumpy lady to cook instead. Upon reaching my office, I opened the white box, and discovered some seriously sorry looking noodles, and "fried rice" that was just that: rice that was fried with a very small amount of soy. The egg roll looked ok, no doubt came frozen and just dropped in a fryer. Now the actual tastes were very underwhelming. No...I'm straight pissed. The Lo Mein was slightly burnt, and not in a good way. It was too salty. The "fried rice" turned out to be cooked brown rice with soy in it. I don't know which part of China they come from, but I had no idea that this was even a thing; and I am 100% full-blooded Chinese. Fried rice is supposed to have a whole lot of other things in it, not the least of which would be egg and veggies, with WHITE rice seasoned with soy. The only redeeming factor in the whole box were the shrimp which were half descent. Oh I asked for chopsticks, and there were simply no silverware or napkins in the box. She did remember to give me a fortune cookie and a packet of soy sauce. Luckily I had one fork left in the office, otherwise so would have been eating with my fingers. Wow. So this was a 100% fail at being Chinese Take Out: Chinese, not really; Take Out, no utensils, bad food, bad service. Sorry for being a sour-puss. I write this stuff so that no one else would have to endure this garbage. It is my hope that in the age of Google and Yelp ratings businesses like these would have to shape up or get left behind.
